I didn’t think “build templates” referred to pre-made builds to select from which I would not desire. My view on “build templates” would be the ability so save a set of traits and skills (armor and weapons would be nice but rather complicated I think, would be contingent on keeping those in you inventory and what happens if you don’t have them on you?) Basically just the ability to select a set of traits in their trait lines, and utility skills as “build A” and another set for “build B” and a couple more and save them in your hero panel for quick, easy, consistent swapping between depending on situation =)

sooo… Dragon Hunter’s Spear of Justice reveals, along with base necros shroud four , Rev’s taunt thingy and whatever other skills that “tether” people but not Engi’s Magnet? sure as kitten looks like a tether to me. did ya forget about it devs or what?

it’s not so much that the Dire and Trailblazer need to be gotten rid of, but rather the way conditions are applied needs a tweak. In order to do serious condition damage, (and balance things) stats should be needed in at least 2 offensive stats. To do serious power damage you need A) Power, and B ) precision and or ferocity (most of the time both) but as things are now, to do serious condition damage all you need is, well, condition damage and from there go strait tank. I would suggest altering many of the condition applying skills to depend on critical chance. Example: take the automatic bleed,bleed,poison of necro scepter, readjust that to say 50%, 70%, 90% chance on crit to apply said condition (really rough example to just showcase the principle, have no idea what numbers would be appropriate) My point is, a full Soldiers (Ptv) hits like a wet noodle vs a full Dire (Ctv), there needs to be a necessity for being some type of squishy if you intend to do high damage of either type.

As far as Epidemic goes, the best method of balancing that would be either A) limit the number of stacks it can copy at once (it IS supposed to be a condi BOMB but getting 20+ burn or confusion stacks on you from one skill is…..obscene) which I would think the better way to go or B ) limit the number of conditions it can copy, not really preferred as I wouldn’t want my own epis to spread a bunch of cripple..

I’m curious as to why it’s okay for a zerker thief/warrior/mesmer/ect to hit 8+k on their power hits, many of which are quite quickly repeated and kill some one in 2~4 seconds flat, and that’s not “unbalanced” but if a burn or bleed stack hits for 3~4k it’s “OMG THIS %*#^ needs to be NERFED” sorry but the whole cry about condi damage is pretty pathetic, if you don’t have the condi clear or resistence or vitality and die to condi dmg tough luck, just like if you don’t have the invuln or blocks or dodge and die to burst damage, tough luck. there’s pros and cons and counters to all, THATS what balance is.

yes I missed the necro GS (and engi magnetic bomb? you’re good if you effectively use that) no the problem isn’t just blockable or unblockable, it’s that it is too strong to just come with the package without having to give anything up. and no one is really running around with perma stabality unless you’re in the middle of a zergs front line

Warrior:
No pulls. (Thankfully!!)
Revenant: Two and a half pulls:
Temporal Rift. #5 off-hand ax, 900×300 range line that pulls foes towards center. 15 second cool-down, 1/2 second cast with 1 second delay to pull, highly visible tell
Requires selection of weapon.
Grasping Shadow. #5 off-hand sword. 130 range, 600 pull. 1/2 second cast. You must strike target in melee, it teleports you and target back, blockable
Requires selection of weapon.
And the half is Forced Engagement, one of the utility skills of Legendary Dwarf Stance. I give this half a pull because it’s a 2 second taunt which forces the target to move towards you, hard to classify this. 1200 range, blockable, 5 second cooldown with 35 energy cost (that’s ALOT)
Requires selection of Stance ( utility skills set )
Guardian: Two pulls:
Binding Blades. #5 greatsword. 600 radius, 600 pull, 5 target, 3/4 second cast, 30 second cool-down, blockable.
Requires selection of weapon.

And Finally,
Spear of Justice. Active skill of guardians Virtue of Justice. 1200 range, unblockable, 1/4 second cast with no real tell until you’re leashed. I believe there’s a 40 second cool-down on the pull.
Requires….nothing but selection of trait line that 9 times out of 10 they WILL take if they have HoT. It does not require ANY sacrifice or intentional selection, don’t have to choose it as one of your only three utility slots or select a specific weapon for it, it just comes with the package of running the Dragon Hunter line. So Kudos to you all who make an obvious choice of trait lines, here’s a bonus over-powered pull for ya to boot!!!…
I’m not saying get rid of the pull, I find it very reasonable for it to be available. BUT it needs to be an OPTION that has to be selected over something else, an adept trait within the Dragon Hunter line for example. Every other pull for every other class requires you to CHOOSE to have it over something else, by using a specific weapon or selection of a utility skill. None just come automatically.
Say perhaps get rid of the Dulled Senses (enemies you knock back are crippled, enemies you cripple get vulnerability) (combine that with another trait if you want) and replace that with the virtue’s active can pull (even reduce the pull’s cool-down to match the virtue’s cool-down for fairness) but MAKE IT BE A SELECTION. Ya gotta choose between the dazing reduced cool-down traps, or the damaging, immobilizing leap that heals you and clears conditions OR the 1200 range, unblockable, invisible 1/4 fast leash that does damage and burns….being able to pull….

Sure, there will always be unbalanced traits and skills out there, but this one is kinda dumb. Yes this is a complaint thread, from a WvW and PvP perspective. Dragon Hunter’s Virtue of Justice automatically having/being a pull is just flat out unreasonable. How is it fair in any way that every single guardian out there, automatically get’s a 1200 range, 1/4 second cast, unblockable, with little-to-no-tell-pull, simply because they took a specific trait line? And a trait line that, 9 times out of ten they WILL take. Really now, how exactly was this determined to be a good idea and how has it not been changed yet? So I looked through all the skills and traits for each class for all the pulls available to them and here’s what I found.

Elementalist: Yes, they do have a pull, I was surprised as well despite having played Ele for almost four years:
It’s the #4 weapon skill of the Conjure Earth Shield, Magnetic Shield. 400 pull, 5 target, 600 radius unblockable, grants 2 seconds protection for each foe pulled. 25 second cooldown. Pretty decent skill to be honest, and I’ve never, ever, seen it used.
Requires selection of a utility slot skill. (And the conjured weapon is on a 60 second cool-down by the way)

Necromancer: One pull:
Spectral Grasp. 1200 range, blockable, 1/2 second cast, slow and clear tell, 30 second cool-down. And one of the most ineffective pulls in the game. I’ve tried to use this skill many, many times and I’d give it an optimistic 20% success rate.
Requires selection as a utility skill.

Mesmer: One pull:
Temporal Curtain. #4 on the focus, 25 second cool-down, 900 range target area, 600 radius pull towards the target area, 5 targets, blockable.
Requires selection of a weapon.

Thief: One pull:
Scorpion Wire. 1200 range, blockable, 1/2 second cast, 20 second cool-down, not quite as ineffective as Spectral Grasp.
Requires selection as a utility skill.

Ranger: Two pulls:
Path of Scars, #4 on off-hand ax. 1200 range, 450 pull, blockable and ground targeted with narrow path. 1/2 second cast, 15 second cool-down. I’ve tried and it’s quite difficult to hit moving targets with.
Requires selection of weapon.
Glyph of Tides while in Celestial Avatar form. 360 pull, 360 radius, 5 target, 25 second cool-down, blockable.
Requires selection of a trait line, as a utility skill, and being in Avatar form…..

Engineer: One pull:
Magnet, the #5 on the Tool Kit utility skill. 1200 range, unblockable, with a 1 and 1/4 clear and present cast time/tell. 25 second cool-down. Powerful pull versus the inexperienced who don’t know when to dodge (or have the stamina). glitches only a little less than Scorpion wire or Necrotic Grasp.
Requires selection of a utility slot skill.

Question: does Vigor stack on top of endurance recharge traits? And does a food buff such as Bowl of Meat and Winter Vegetable Stew (30% + recharge rate) stack on top of Vigor or endurance traits?

Is there any way to reset your mastery points? I was a fool and put a bunch into fractal mastery, but never do fractals anymore and would dearly love to complete the Legendary crafting, without having to spend the 500 hours needed and highly vexing last few mastery things still available to me (don’t want to do much more pve stuff anyways)

And if there isn’t (I can see why; wouldn’t want people loading the points into things back and forth depending on what they’re doing) could we get like a one-time option to do so maybe?

dumbest thing ever ANET. wtf, really? you think disabling stations will decrease que time? get real, NO ONE SITS AND CRAFTS IN WvW!!! sometimes we go there to craft our daily, or hop in it cuz there is not a que and do so quickly,but NO ONE SITS AND LvLs CRAFTING IN WvW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! spend your time and money actually improving your “*” servers power, not paying people to do such silly kitten stuff as come up with the idea of removing crafting stations to “decrease que times”… just flat out the ALMOST the dumbest solution you guys have ever come up with!!!! there is one sinple fact that, well simply, makes this game un-balance-able.

The difference of Armor according to weight classes.

It’s really just that lame, although the idea was to have the “heavies” in front for big fights in WvW (which they are) it’s in no way applicable for “structured” pvp anymore, not since the damage output is equal and the “heavies” can do anything and everything a light or medium can these day +. Yet they get a free Armor bonus simply for wearing a heavy armor?……………………………….. so basically nothing to lose with nothing to be gained for the other armor classes, and don’tell me about utility,….. the heavies CAN do all the stuff any medium or light can do. (only exception I can fathom is no heavy has a water field,…YAYA)

SOOOOOOO, either A)

Light armor = damage + (both power and condi) and Armor -
Medium armor = base neutral for damage/armor
Heavy armor = damage – and armor +

Or (and much better idea) in “structured pvp” an EQUAL armor base for each armor level.

To the dev’s this would REALLY simplify your balancing! The only thing you would then have to balance is the health-pool vs utility, And if you broke from the idea of 3 different health-pool’s and just adjusted the different classes from a standard armor value vs (survive ability) it would REALLY make your jobs of trying to balance this stuff AND our fun much simpler.
For real, in our “structured pvp” why should “this warrior” have “X” more armor than “this elementalist” while EACH wear’s the same amulet and runes? Utilities? umm, each has their own and adjust those?
Okay so let’s think of example; if Ele got the same armor as a Heavy, yea that would be stupid as F* but from there you can EASILY regulate the skills balance vs trying to adjust for each class, heavy,medium,light. same with ALL!!

Just flat cut out and unnecessary discrepancy!

How about we just finally go with this basic fundamental fact: GW2 wants us all to find friends and makes parties. My “pre-made” party of emeralds that are on TS together. stands a pretty darn good chance vs the “scary ESL” teams, why? cuz these “scary ESL” teams are really just everyday players like everyone else, except they found and formed a party with other folks they can trust not to be dumb and/or communicate with each other and build their comp’s appropriate to the team they face. The MMR hell IS real, this game simply does not support solo play, was stuck on saph and ruby both forever, and every time I “broke free” was with parties, some from full friends on ts and some from gradual pickup and went on huge win streaks. I’d pick out that one or two fellas from a losing match that played well, and ask them if they wanted to party for next match, rinse and repeat till all of a sudden a party that kicks booh’tay’ is formed and we demolish. these scary ESL teams are formed the same way, one guy got sick of losing pug matches, found one person that felt the same and ect till they were all on voice chat together.
Keep in mind yall, ANET is struggling to make money and want this game to become an E-sport staple so that they CAN make some money off it, they would be dumb to cater to “solo” que because they simply cannot build teams and hype via solo que. and profit for them can only make the game better for us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! why d’ya think they waste so much bs on the trading post? because they don’t earn a monthly income from us! and to keep they money imput they are grasping at straws.
If you think “oh corporate evil just trying to make a buck” well heads up them “making a buck” can do nothing but allow them to produce a better product for us all. “they don’t care about community opinion” well, they certainly could do better imo but not if no one’s paying them to do so, get the drift?

In Short: yes MMR hell is very real, kinda meant to be cuz they want teams formed, cuz they want a league formed, cuz they want E-sport attention, cuz “somehow” they’ll get the income we DON’T provide from monthly subscription that way. Plus, ya know, it’ll just be a heck of alot more fun that way =P

So basically here’s the question for you Anet, do you want this to be a PvE game or a PvP; because you have proven inability to do both so make a choice and focus it already. You’ll have big disappointments on both sides but just make a choice, make it official and let the losing side know so we can find something more to our preference in-stead of string us along with half-@$$ stuff. It’s ticking us all off now. after 3 year’s you could have expanded the pvp to be a lot more than the joke-one-game-style-few maps feces it is( I mean, for real, look at any MMOFPS and you could take .1% of the game objective variations and have more variation that the pvp in this game with at least twice as many maps to play them on ) . And after 3 years you could have explored a great amount of the world and LS than you have. Choose already, because you are sucking at both instead of excelling at one.

Again, super-simple QoL change proposed: open crafting stations to closed tabs. Would be vastly more convenient if I were to go to a crafting station and all the tabs are closed from the get-go. I know what I want to craft, I don’t need to see EVERYTHING that I COULD craft as I don’t want to craft 99% of that stuff! It would be much better if I could go to a station, open it, and from there open the tabs of the specific category of what I wish to craft. Example: Tailoring maxed, and all I want to do is craft my spool of silk weaving and elonian cord for the day; yet since I have 50000000~~~~ other recipe’s I have to either scroll waaaaaay down or close a bunch of tabs. Sure it’s not much but still, with a simple change of closed tabs upon opening station, it would be far more convenient =) or even just make an option for it so that folks that are training their crafting can see all available and folks that have it maxed can quickly select where they want/need to go!

Please: +1 this forum post if you think this is a good QoL idea and share your opinion!

I honestly don’t think the people that mainline pve have ANY right to complain what-so-ever. Yes I play pve, (no it’s not my main objective as I tend to prefer the pvp potential this game COULD be) but I am PvX with a pvp preference. So looking at things from a pvx point of view, …PvE (lore and story-line) is hands downed catered to. The PvE of this game consumes a VAST majority of anet’s dev’ time far over PvP ( WvW a far distant third and I feel bad for the few dev’s working on it ‘cuz they get all the **it without any praise for their efforts) Yet Anet is still hoping to make it’s game into an E-sports staple. They can’t because of how much effort they have to put into appeasing the PvE enthusiasts. SO for god’s sake, cut them some slack on their “timeline” we’ll all keep farming for the stuff we need regardless of when “next chapter” comes out because no one could possibly get all the stuff needed for the next “shiny” faster than they can create it!

So just last night (for the first time in 3 years xD ) [The Hunter] dropped for me! Now, I have two Legendary Weapons already and had used the two Gift of Explorations that I recieved from the first (and only time I had hoped to do at the time tbh) time I did map completion to craft them. Since I got the drop, I find myself doing map completion again so that I can craft and sell the rifle, but this time I find myself looking around allot more and actually appreciating all the views, environmental sculpting, and WORK that the folks that make the maps we play on put into them! I mean honestly, if you have a good enough graphics processor, CRANK them graphics up! because with all the shadows that move on your relation to the light, the glares of water, the sky, reflections! Really, take a moment or two to appreciate a fundamental part of this game and that’s just how kitten good it looks!

So Thank You Anet! The first time, I was in a rush and just following the mini-map. This time, I’m looking around a bit more and it looks Awesome!! 8D

@ Grim West: I dunno about your WvW experience but, as a 3 year vet I’ve experienced many sides of WvW play and “zerging” is not all of it

Back to topic, it would be rather easy to implement the invisible wall no-fly zones and there would not be that many. Sure I agree with “get the pve sh** out of WvW” but the HoT movement mastery’s are not “PvE” they’re mastery’s that you hafta train just like Elite specs. At the moment we can only use them in PvE so you could infer them to be “PvE stuff” but that’s my point, open those mastery’s to WvW too! don’t close off a part of HoT to those of us that bought it but mainly play WvW!!

Here’s a suggestion that will lead to both Fun! AND potentially more profits for you Anet!
ADD gliding to WvW along with updrafts and bouncing shrooms and nuhoch wallows! I personally like the Desert BL’s but they’re just too kitten annoying to navigate to get a fight in!! With all the vertical distance in it whats only a short linear distance can be a “1000000 MILES” away.! Having all the movement mastery’s added to the map is really needed plus I think was the intent when the map was crafted. And Gliding, Updrafts, B.Shrooms and Wallows Are a FUN way to get around too!! (think of all the tactics too with gliding in on a foe and dropping on them =P ) It would REALLY vitalize the BL’s i.m.o.

And as for profit motivation Anet, think of all the free to play players who get hooked on the WvW and see everyone else gliding around and moving freely about the map =P

Well, it’s been said before but, by golly wouldn’t it be fun for HoT purchasers to be able to glide in the Desert BLs? Air Shrine buffs are great! don’t get me wrong but, I want to be able to roam the Desert BLs with gliding, JUST LIKE PVE. Honestly, I like the Desert Bl but every 5 minutes I find myself saying " Man I wish I could Glide in WvW on this map"

It’s been Asked for a few times but all we can do is persist until they listen.

I’m sorry, but “good” players should have to “carry” you, part of the reason the new matchmaking is so screwed up is but “good” players were expected to “carry” teams last season and that is by no means fair to them. Optimally “good” players should shine in a match and their teammates should pull their own weight or at least not hold the rest of the team back.

TY for comments but yall diverging from my proposed idea. Amber, can’t lose pips or tiers, Emerald loose pips but not tiers. Sapphire loose pips but not tiers and short tiers, Ruby loose pip but not tiers and LONG tiers. Diamond loose pips and tiers for the hardcore e-sport wannabes striving to get into Legendary.

Note LONG tiers in ruby is my suggestion. =)

I do concur that a MMR reset should take place each season tho.

An idea for ruby division for next season. We all know emerald and sapphire are pretty much just grinds for the competent pvper solo or buddy queing and acknowledge that ruby is supposed to be the “filter” division but when it comes right down to it, if you’re a good veteran player, having to hope for 3 or 4 competent teammates per match is depressing. For many of us, it’s win 1 lose 1, win2 lose 1~3, sometimes get a team together and win 5+, then get all our pips lost solo queing when our friends aren’t on…

So my idea is (and please share opinions) in order to keep ruby as a filter yet still give the veterans a better chance at getting through it, alter the tiers. Instead of 6 tiers of 5 where you can lose tiers, how about 3 tiers of ten where you cannot lose tiers. That would still give a hefty margin of pips to advance but a couple of “save” points where getting a losing streak due to matchmaking doesn’t nullify the effort you put in before.

Thinking in terms of offering support and although yes we can use conditions on us offensively, we’re out of luck if those skills are on cd or it could allow us to select other skills in their place opening up more build options. And the Flames of Grenth just sounds like a cool skill name =P

Unblockable Blocked

Soul Marks makes marks unblockable, except for Revs Crystal Hibernation. Confirmed it the other night with a buddy and seeing as how CH reads as blocking attacks, not being invulnerable, this needs to be fixed.

Also been playing around with great sword a bit and Grasping Darkness has some serious failure. Just last night there were at least four occasions where I tried to use the skill across open flat are of the Graveyard and the skill “activated” but no animation or effect from it occured.

How about a Torch for a weapon? Skills could be “Flames of Grenth – set yourself alight with the Flames of Grenth, burning conditions off yourself and nearby allies.” and “Funeral Pyre – set the target area alight with underworld flames chilling foes in it and weakening them”

STOP it ANET. Just kittening STOP IT!!! No class stacking in tournaments right? ELIMINATE IT FROM MATCHMAKING for ranked matches. VS 3+ necro’s on a team is not balanced nor fun, for either side. 3+ Dragon Hunters on a team is neither balanced nor fun. Nor Engi’s nor theifs nor rangers nor eles nor revs nor mesmers nor warriors. Just cut it out of you match making!!!!!!!!!!

Flavor of the month folks, let us have some time in the sun . Never has necro been considered OP before, it’s always just been pretty solid and well balanced. Pretty much every class has been a ridiculous bandwagon for noobs at some point in time (except for maybe ranger) and complaining about an slow auto attack chain corrupt when DH can sit in a bunch of traps that have no visible tell and daze you to the point where you can’t even use your stability skills (IF you have them which necro doesn’t except for shroud and elite shout (good luck trying to get that off)and get’s stripped instantly ) to get out of the stupid little fences they rain down on you in a massive aoe that never even render… cmon.
Not to mention all the other OP stuff goin on now for other classes, a single boon corruption on a slow auto chain is really small potatoes and the fact that people are crying over it is silly. your stabs getting ripped too easily? what about a DP thief spamming headshot? or a mesmer simply shattering on you? There is/has been/always will be super cheese builds out there and necro scepter the smallest of the small.

I have a question about why, as the team that had the dcing player, we didn’t get a pip for wining 4v5? I agree with the not losing a pip if there’s a dc on your team but the match was still played out and we fought really hard and won. Should have got us 3 pips imo =P

So while I do a minor amount of PvE, I have only done Tequatl a handful of times. For the collection, I need a win, so who should I contact about finding an organized group to run with for it?

I think maybe the verticle aspect of the map came from an initial expectation that those who had gliders would be using them (which would REALLY be awesome and maybe even breathe a little life into the map, just picture gliding out and dropping on an unsuspecting enemy =P) but at the last minute a bunch of tears were wept for those who didn’t have or couldn’t get gliders..

Electro—-whirl could have a sweet quicksilver sphere affect with Juggs and Thunder Clap could lay down a pool of molten quicksilver 8D Also, the quicksilver trail should follow through after the first leap of Rocket Charge.

Crafting Material Usage

Small annoyance easily solved. As many of us do, I keep stacks of crafting materials in my bank. And for some reason when I craft “x” the crafting uses materials out of the stacks (that I deliberately put into my bank AS stacks) instead of materials in my collections… Can we get that reversed please? Draw material from the incompletely stacks within the collection BEFORE using materials out of bank? Didn’t it used to function that way anyways?

Beta Bank

Since last beta event I’ve acquired 3 new bank tabs, new skins, crafted an entire set of ascended armor and several weapons, new rune sets and multiple new trinkets for the expressed reason of testing/utilizing during the next event (this one). Deleted old beta characters, made new ones and BAM! whack to the family jewels, my bank on the new beta toons reflected the bank status from first event…..not only that but armor and trinkets left on old beta toons, is not in my bank……………………
Fooey Anet, fooey! And with the limited armor and trinket options that come, there is no way to replicate the builds and stats I want…aaaarrrghh!! Why on earth is bank still tied to old event??
