I love this build, call it my skald build, I’m never in these perfect groups with perfect scenarios, with perfect players, this is a great combo of solid deeps and tons of condi removal, I really do love it =)

I’m curious and have question for ya, how long/much have you been playing?

Me, I started at launch, skipped beta for being scared of burnout.
Played quite heavily and regularly until the infamous karka event.
Started getting bored like you right around living story (signs for the refugees did it lol)
I stopped right around that time frame.

I tell ya, the break was great, even though I missed a couple event and backpieces
I no longer have the urge what so ever, that makes me feel like I have to grind all these not so exciting achievements.

So much scaling of your level in this game, makes it kind of meaningless in the first place.
They had to make it appear more mmo like, that’s the only reason I can think of for their 80.

Sorry but 2 thumbs down for me. The technical problems should have been solved before release, as well as the event itself—it’s not fun for a number of people :-(
They should have opened a new area on the map, made a new dragon, called it for what it is—a guild type event that works with 100 people working together using their 100 slot teamspeak.

This, they have basically removed two encounters, orig teq, something that could be done regularly, and new teq, which will be abandoned after its downed a few times, or the next dragon in line gets updated.

Totally agree it should have been a completely new encounter/instance of some sort.

Why the hell wasn’t this scaled down a tad and made a guild mission instance?
The way it is now, it has removed one dragon encounter with one that will never be done again(effectively removing 2 encounters with one lol) come next dragon in line for an “improvement”

Why not add NEW encounters ? When the shiny wears off teq it is going to be completely abandoned. Or non prime time players, they will NEVER be able to accomplish it.

They have basically REMOVED a dragon encounter.

Changes/additions are always nice.
I’m going to assume SPVP was a total FLOP and they at least see a few folks in the wvw maps, so they will put their tourny plans into that instead.

It kinda seems pointless though, why would the ranks suddenly change, or people that never gave a kitten suddenly give a kitten?

Guys guys, it’s ok, you dont have to do this. Money and gear isn’t really needed because its purely for looks. Because the majority of players out there don’t really mind investing time in a game, going on epic adventures dressed in a potato sack and wielding wooden toys and such.

I’ve played a couple asian grinders, one of them I actually got help on their forums setting up an autohotkey script lol.

After being out for a few months, I come back and witness this B.O.T.S phenomenon in Queensdale, and was instantly reminded of that old grinder. It’s essentially Orr 1.0 farm rotation in super easy mode. Reminded me of that grinder because there is no way I would sit at the keyboard and do that for hours on end lol.

I specifically made plans around getting a legandary with out footglops as well OP. It’s easy now, I’m just not going to bother.

How about a drip off the end of a blade or arrow? Something tied to the weapon, a snake slithering around the bow shaft, then around your arm. Something interesting that bonds you with your weapon or something, this footglop kitten is terrible.

I have no interest at all for a legendary. Too over the top and flashy, and I absolutely detest the footglop effects. I much prefer the classier, ornamental style weapons/armor. They are quite few and far between though sadly.

I was in your shoes OP. It’s obvious we aren’t in the obsessed gw2 player category, else we wouldn’t have taken such a long hiatus, and missed a bunch of living story lines.

This is my 1st mmo, and have been playing them since the late 90s, that I haven’t had a “main” character that I’ve grown tremendously attached to.

I’m pretty sure I blame that on the mishmash of themes and styles, along with (I’m gonna say it lol) no type of faction to associate with, everyone being able to go anywhere (my old dark elf grinded on many orcs to be tolerated by humans, and some still never let the racism go!)

Then my level that I fought for ended up being absolutely useless, because it changes every other zone I’m in, so that silly giant sparkly sword now is kinda useless. This is turning into a rant whoops! Must stop =D

Yeah, but at least in many of the “Asia-Grind” titles you can set up a simple autohotkey script, and just check on your progress before you go to work in the morning =D

I’m trying to think, the last thing I “played” like that was Voyage Century Online, I’d say 85% of my characters life was scripted, with about 15% of me actually behind the keyboard lol.

I definitely putting money on another LA skin of the month.

It’s sad the norn males in only a few hundred years evolved into some sort of strangely proportioned freaks.

This is why I only log in for the LA skin of the month, the aesthetic of the game is just going completely away from my tastes. Need some more elegant/ornamental/slick stuff added(like the new rapier and pistol) for me to get interested or excited again.

That stuff just looks dumb to me, but to each their own of course.

These weapons aren’t giant or spikey or spew flames from your feet or nostrils, of course they won’t let players get them.

First of any of the “new ish” weapons I actually am interested in and not available lol. They just trolling me now with the rapier not being available.

I think I just grew tired of theme park in general, it’s really nothing to do with Guild Wars. Nothing to fight for (5 minute keeps don’t really count). Also nothing really feels or gives the illusion that something is “mine” (property, housing, mines etc from swg for an example).

No roles at 1st sounded interesting, but kills me now. There’s “optimal” set ups, of course, but not having a job to do, or someone seeking me out because I happen to be good at said job, really hurts the feel of the game to me.

Now with the focus on “Living Story” and holiday events taking precedence over all, it leaves me with the feeling of not wanting to come back(I keep looking for excuses to come back, its a pretty world =) I haven’t played since around February, lurk around and pop in a post occasionally, but what has been added really since x-mas ? Some pink text non visible items, few cute back packs, and some kinda lack luster guild missions.

I’ll stop before folks jump all over me and tell me to play another game(which I am, and is kinda the point!), almost turning into a rant lol.

On point though, post this answer in many threads but this game does seem to be trending towards casual, giddy content that is more for the family, than the “core” gamer. Maybe soon, this game can be a personalized version of Sims. Cosmetics, homes, susie homemaker.

How do you define casual content? What do you consider a challenge?

I agree that much of the living story has been “meh” at best, although the dungeon at the end of flame and frost was cool.

My personal view is that ANet is trying to mix it up. You get some challenging content such as the Halloween jumping puzzles. You get dungeons like the flame and frost thing and the super adventure dohicky. They also throw in a lot of diversion stuff like crab toss.

The idea is to make the game generally entertaining.

Only in Guild Wars 2 have I ever seen a call for more challenging PvE content met with “well you got a hard jumping puzzle for a month” as a serious response.

Yah, this place is carebears gone wild, a taste as to what it might feel like to be an “elite” in another game. I’m quite glad sandbox is trying to make a comeback, hopefully some mind boggling challenges will be in tow as well. I’ll shush, someone might get mad.

Strange in the the world we live in now to think the majority of players do not visit the forums, seems crazy to me. Especially given the genre we are playing.

Should add it to the leaderboards perhaps, be interesting to see how many really do visit =D

gw2 definitely not ranger/mesmer, went axe warrior and auto attack to success =D

The way attacking and movement is so free in this game, it’s like even the idea of sword don’t even belong here.

If this was like SWG early on, and we only had 1 character slot(minus the addicts with the jedi) It certainly would make a difference. We all have six though, default, and if you have a problem of not getting “rich” I would suggest to you(not you op specifically) use one of said slots to create one of these classes.

OP, In my experience, I was hyped to start my legendary collection, then it started wearing on me, and eventually led me to kitten near despise the game =| It burned me out, I just wasn’t up to the task, and ended up hating the game for it (not the games fault, just my own in misjudging what I was really going for).

Since, I’ve taken about a month break, trying to get the motivation to come back “full time” again, it’s just really difficult with that sour taste I’ve given myself. Not a hate post, just know what you are getting yourself into, I thought I did, and that’s where the sour taste comes from.

Born in 78, took my mario cartridge for my nes and skipped it across the drive way and blew on my simons quest cartridge several times, popped it in, rage subsided.

Felt bad for skipping mario across the driveway, I blew on the cartridge, and popped it in, after several minutes I removed it, and fired it off the bank next to my house for a glorious 40 foot drop to the hard gravel beach below. Picked up Faxanadu, blew on the cartridge, popped it in, entered my save code, and rage subsided.

After reading all the questions I’ve come to a conclusion, I’m totally burnt out on mmo’s.

I might take a break until a big fat new sand box with collision, even weapon collision, and lots of resources devoted to animations!! comes around some day. That’s about all that could get me really excited again.
