they should have been a reward for the meta………………
Yeah lol, that’s ooooold school mmo thinking, getting great gear through time and effort.
I’m positive I read in the dec 10 preview page -somewhere- that they will be addressed.
So basically, conditions are mainly a problem in zerg content, in which there is currently only one encounter that requires many brain cells to finish. I’ve not been to many teq encounters, but perhaps you might want to switch roles to turrets etc. where you will not have to worry about capped stacks.
Or even better, respec, and focus on a build around that encounter. Every single boss type character in the game will need an overhaul to the overhauled condition damage, 5 people with 25 stacks of maxed out bleed will just melt everything in sight.
This has been requested since before launch. The problem here is, just as in GW1, that it has ALOT of clipping issues.
They will most likely not add this to the game. However, I also want capes!!
They seem quite enamored with buttcapes, perhaps an option to pullem up a bit =D
Hell yeah, that would/could open up for a whole slew of tempting builds. Crazy how much could change with one extra utility.
Alright. As a Guild Wars veteran, I understand they’re going for prestigious-looking shiny “Fissure of Woe”-esque armour. Obsidian armour, whatever you wanted to call it. The difference is there were seven sets of Obsidian armour in the game; one per profession. I think that variety is what’s missing in GW2, since there are only three different sets based on light, medium, heavy. It’s a step back.
This is true, and and am with you on this, there’s also one other thing to remember, humans. They only had to make that armor for that one model/skeletal set. We only get 3 in this iteration, I’m going to assume, is because of the amount of races available.
DAoC did pretty good(which is what lured me here in the 1st place), there were entire stealth wars while the main skirmishes were going on, was quite exciting. The different tiers of stealth made for some compelling gameplay.
How did it work in DAOC? Could GW2 thieves for example have a level 25 Shadow Arts minor trait that allows them to see enemy stealthed players like they see allies. Something like that could help with the attitude towards long stealths in wvw.
Kinda like that yeah. The “assassin” archetype had the highest level of stealth, which no normal character could typically find. so they could lurk, kill, and gtfo.
They could also detect the “scout” archetype, which had stealth, but not as powerful, and their break stealth attack wasn’t as powerful. They could however spec to detect the assassins and ruin their day, or plink off reinforcements with their range attacks.
It was fun, you could basically spec to be an anti insta gibber character. It’s been quite a few years, but that’s kinda how it worked in a nutshell.
I think they would be ok with a skeletal tweak, there is something wrong with how they stand, especially in the shoulder area / \ it’s like their arms are attached too low, and make many armors look very misplaced.
Box price plus 20 buckaroos in gems since launch. They nabbed me with that makeover kit =D
Watching what the Thief is going through in GW2 reminds me exactly of what every other Rogue has gone through in MMO’s past.
In particular, I played a Witch Elf in WAR for the longest time – same story.
In the end, I don’t think that Rogues make good classes for MMO’s – we are inherently a solo class – and PvP is a group activity.
I dunno, DAoC did pretty good(which is what lured me here in the 1st place), there were entire stealth wars while the main skirmishes were going on, was quite exciting. The different tiers of stealth made for some compelling gameplay.
I cannot believe I’m going to say this.. but here it goes….
I kind of miss Cursed Shore, camps, and Plinxie poo.
/duckandcover
being someone who has 7000 hours invested in their warrior, I am actually looking forward to this change as it balances the class.
Busted.Thief trolling warrior forum.Good job sir
Yeah he was at 14000 hours played as a warrior in the thread with the dev discussion.
I think we are starting to get a good glimpse of the 180 from power/crit to condi-healing/toughness. From action rpg to kitten near turn based when/if this comes to fruition
Let the dire/rabid sword longbow wars begin !Gg devs.
I foresee much of this as well, even though the hammer build will still be absolutely fine lol.
Yep, was totally looking forward to a new saaweeeeeet fractal build. Sad face kinda now.
Thief is very punishing for error, but rewarding when encounters are played correctly.
This is kind of the entire point of peoples meh on thieves.
I’m almost exhausted after doing a run on my thief compared to some other classes I have.
I did awhile back and get a ton more loot bags, and now of course wvw exp. It wasn’t even nerfs that made me do it, it was gaudy trenchcoats =D
This is why I’m usually fine I guess then, I have mediocre armor, and deal terrible damage =D
Nope, against any stuff, as long as you have a decent group and all the relevant buffs are up.
I’m pretty sure you just covered every class and every situation in the entire game, well played!
Remove them achievement points from season 1, I bet you my last silver doubloon your queues(if you had any) would be back to business as usual from before the update.
So yes, of course we do =D
I have never given a kitten about patch “cadence” in any mmo I’ve played, all I give a kitten about is if it whats being downloaded is fun, or compelling.
Problem with temp content… I was burnt out by the time the 1st living story hit, the go fix the sing posts after the karka invasion. I said yup, kitten that, and took a few months off. Came back a month ago, and only got to hear about the molten alliance, only got to hear about the aetherblades, only got to hear about the cleaning up of southsun, the only thing new in the game was a few lamer guild missions and class balancing.
I’d like to see some swords or daggers and whatnot, definitely winged out atm though. Time to get the game back on track !
Something slick and shiney, with no footglops or weird auras. Make looking at that sucker itself make you say kitten , thats nice! Not kitten that odd thing has a bunch of glops and glowing stuff around you and it.
This guy don’t remember the real Kessex bridge farm.
Dozens and dozens of afk bots sitting there pulling in materials and karma 24/7 for weeks on end. Thought it might have been back from the thread title =D
My thoughts too Kedryn, there’s only so many times you can reskin an event before it gets really boring.
I logged in, did a cool little solo instance, got to the main zone, and to my surprise, no actually I wasn’t surprised at all, met by a giant champ chasing zerg train.
Certainly due to ascended, and to get a tiny extra out of the system, remember it will take 20 of this 10 of that 20 of the other thing to make your piece of what ever material it is.
I logged in, did a quick solo quest in Kessex, was quite easy, kinda fun.
Get to the real zone, and its a mindless champ train zergfest. I think this is it for me, I’ve come to realize I don’t give a kitten about achievement points, and that this type of content is not fun or interesting AT ALL to me. It’s been the same patch with a new skin for months.
Waiiit a minute, was this planted here to get people to dish out 10 bucks for useless town clothes???
If so it worked, bought lol.
When did the whirling axe steal get bugged again? It USED to (many many moons ago)act like the thief elite, unless something has changed recently, it does not reflect anymore
Yeah, back before launch I thought the spirit weps would be more like the engi kits, and thought it would be quite interesting. That didn’t happen, and the interest ended =|
I agree, and would love a toggle for this as well.
I’m just upset I cannot carry empower allies and traited warhorn for 20 points no more =(
Scabbards
Housing(complete home instance overhaul/being able to choose)
More animations(be it idle or combat)
A new shipment of weapon and armor skins from some new talent, might get you guys off the trench coat and BIG AS >insert weapon here< thing you got going. We got lots of super high fantasy boulder shoulder tree trunk gear, lets get some elegant stuff happening (rapier was a good start =)
Ha, I was having the exact same Oh! thing happening, and thought holy **** these are kind of amazing now! Tried them out and them cool downs were still in place, and got sad faced and lost looking for where they were in the descriptions lol, thanks !
I’m not that bright, and maybe it’s an option I’m missing some where, but I cannot for the life of me find where the trait cool downs are now. Like shrug it off for example used to have a description of how often it would/could proc and how long again till it could.
Are we still adding percentages to an UNKNOWN number and getting upset/excited ?
I rolled a warrior a little while back, have been thiefing since launch. Finally got him lvl’d spec’d and geared, and holy hell I enjoy everything more now.
Dunno if it was thief burnout or what, but I seriously am enjoying kitten more lol.
Curious as to what on earth made anyone think you could dodge a shout in the first place? I can’t dodge and make a guardian not gain stability from SYG
Looks like a good way to get folks to blow a condition removal utility, could see this being kind of interesting as a set up tool.
Eww, from the preview it looks like I’m going to need 30 points to get traited warhorn and empower allies? Seeing as they are both at 20 points.
Sorry allies I guess, my support buff just got got a bit less supporty, yay?
I’m kind of upset I’ll need 30 points to get empower allies and my traited warhorn =|
Unless they are moving both the shout and warhorn recharges to 10 points, which I don’t see happening.
skritt or i quit!
@OP: Don’t “learn” the fights with a GS, it’ll only instill bad habits that you will have to overcome anyway in the future.
Lol =D another perfect player with the perfect group in a perfect world. Seems a solid 95% of the forumites these days are absolutely perfect!
I’m willing to bet current legendary precursors will be untouched, and
that only the new slew of them that are added will use a new sort of crafting
feature for them.
I just got my howler last night =D was wicked excited.
Almost getting to them 55 builds =D
What the hell is wup wup?
I had fun till the last boss fight, then frustration waaay overpowered my fun levels.
We were doing with no guides or whatever, but man that end was just ugh.
I’m jumpin on the hate train too, that stuff looks terrible lol.
Corky from Life goes on must be one of the top armor designers!
