I was talking about the crafting guides, did you not see the title?
I saw the title and googled it because I’ve never heard of it. It looked like 3rd party software. If it’s not, I can’t help you because I’ve never heard of it. If it is, don’t use it. I definitely wasn’t going to click the site because it’s description is incredibly suspicious.
Godmoney, see above and don’t chime in.
Is that some sort of add-on? I would not use any 3rd party stuff. If anet doesn’t like it (and they probably won’t), you’ll be perma-banned. And the other scenario is you lost your account to a hacker or password thief.
Any group of people adopt the attitudes of each other, and it creates a culture. People generally try to get along for the greater good and our own mental health, and Anet helps foster that with some really bizarre and borderline stupid rules, like the “kitten” filter on this forum that ruins completely innocent sentences .And in game too, verbal abuse is even a reportable offense.
Contrast to someplace like 4chan/reddit/youtube where anything goes with no repercussions at all, and a culture of the trolling evolves. It’s literally in the culture to be cruel and vulgar under the pretension that it’s funny. It’s learned behavior.
It’s a US game. In GW1 they actually had a thanksgiving event in game and pie and cider would drop from monsters.
Anywho, I’m guessing HoT itself might go on sale.
Aren’t there almost always sales in the gem store? I look in there once every 6 months or so, but every time I do something is on sale.
I love pocket raptors so hard. They’re the perfect way to get an instant 25 stacks of BL or corruption. Just lure a few groups to gather and explode them. I honestly think that may be their intended purpose.
Fractals as well.
I personally find enjoyment in often doing relatively pointless but relaxing activities. I’ve done PvP at pretty high levels, WvW roaming, high level fractals, etc., and it can be relatively demanding for something as relaxing as a video.
So for example, the other day I killed a bunch of oakhearts to finish off my plant slayer achievement, and entertained myself by dodging all their attacks which have huge telegraphs. Playing a few rounds of the daily activity is actually a ton of fun. Earlier today I did a good old fashion farm with about 10 people just killing karkas and getting tons of phat loot. Getting 100% on a single map on an alt is fun because it just gives you a relaxing environment to play with traits and under-used utilities on a class you don’t know that well. I got my crafting up to 500 on a track I’ve never had a need to use. All of this is totally mindless, and totally relaxing.
Edit: I left out a major part. All this just relaxing and having fun means that I don’t grind anything and yet still rake in money, mastery points, mats, etc. A watched pot never boils. Next time I want to do something “real” like make a legendary, I can just buy it with all my screwing-around money.

Your suppose to kill the boss oakheart not the random one that are there before the event.
It drops from any oakheart. I got mine in timberline falls.
I am almost certain it would give you +1200 toughness on revive. Before anet revamped runes like a year or 2 ago it was extremely common for people to mix and match various runes (superior usually, but same idea), for example to maximize bleed duration with 3 different rune sets. The same concept is still used in niche situations, like maximizing PvE damage by removing a useless 6 rune bonus in favor of more power or condi damage, etc.
I don’t particularly like the build. Greatsword has zero damaging condis on it, so it doesn’t pair that well with a condi build. Also several of your traits are wrong, like you have a grandmaster that removes condis on the use of a survival skill, but no survival skills equipped.
You can check out the builds on metabattle.com for a starting point. Click on ranger and a ton of builds will show up, organized by game mode. There is also a great sticky thread on the ranger forum with a huge number of builds to give you some ideas (some are a lot better than others.)
If you want, post a build you’ve customized on the ranger forum, and people will give you good feedback. I’m a ranger main, and it’s a good subsection.
I got mine after roughly one kill as well (didn’t even know there was a collection, I just randomly smacked an oakheart.)
Maybe try a different map, there might be some diminishing returns or something going on. I was finishing my plant slayer achievement yesterday and after about 30 oakheart kills they simply stopped spawning all together. Sat there for 5 or 10 minutes, went away from my computer for a while and when I came back there was still nothing there. Dunno what that means, but clearly there is code for something or other.
You’ll wind up killing way more than you need for the collections after just a few days, it’s not a big deal. Even if you did nothing but park a character by the SW waypoint in verdant brink and kill that mushroom every day you would have finished all the collections by now.
I was thinking of a class/build that centers around having good survivability, and wins it’s fights in sPvP/WvW through attrition, and not raw DPS, or a toon that is Condi-centric and has ways to deal with conditions, or being bursted, ect. Again, due to me two a fore mentioned reasons, I need to adapt my playstyle to something slower paced and having more survivability, ect.
That sounds like a condi ranger/cele druid, which are also wanted in raids.
Re: warrior in PvP, 0% of the players in pro league are using a warrior.
I’ve heard the opposite to what many of you have heard; That it would be easier to add a new race rather than a class… since adding a class is a balancing nightmare to what is already in the game (but they did take on that challenge.
Both of them are a ton of work, that’s not the issue. Professions add more to the game than stretched human armor and a new starter area do.
The responses in these threads always crack me up. “(I am mad at anet for _ so) The game is dying, no one plays.”
As, it seems to me, that if you want anything fun/goodlooking, or even useful (e.g. bag/bank slots), for your characters, within a reasonable amount of time of starting playing, you need to spend more than you would have on a sub game.
??? I don’t see any need to spend real money to bling out my characters. There are plenty of nice looking skins in game. You buying stuff off the gemstore is my idea of blatantly wasting money. Many of my fully geared up level 80s are wearing mix n matches of beginning or even starter gear skins. I would argue they look far better than anything in the gemstore.
D:
You crafted them? Some stat sets aren’t tradeable, like viper’s.
So you’re not underwater?
Above your 1-5 skillbar you should see 2 little icons where you’d see other profession mechanics like mesmer shatters or ranger pet controls. Revenants swap between 2 “legends” from GW1, and those legends will supply the skills on your 6-10 slots. When you are on land, and have Jalis selected as your legend, you’ll have the heal skill Soothing Stone selected. If you hit F1 and swap to a different legend that you’ve equipped, you’ll have a new heal skill equipped (and yes you can heal twice in a row that way.)
On revenants you aren’t allowed to select your heal skill, it comes with the legend you have selected (Jalis in your case I think?) Did you somehow switch to a blank 2nd legend?
Try messing around with your profession mechanic bar, equipping and unequipping things.
Also if you’re underwater, several of the legends don’t work at all. Revenants don’t mix well with water.
Was your heal the anti-toxin thing from the tower of nightmares? That was removed from the game.
I am not following… does the warbler do anything? I thought it just told you where to go.
I assume you already have by now, but try logging out to (hopefully) get a new map instance. An hour without her spawning sounds like a bug.
Events also have a mechanic where they trigger if someone comes into their range, so leaving and coming back might do it.
I think you can hold 10 bouncing chests, and as far as I know the game doesn’t add the items to your inventory, they are just deleted. A well known PvP streamer doesn’t care about game rewards, and hasn’t opened his PvP chests in like 8 months after thousands of games: Nothing in his inventory. This may be different for PvE if Electro has had items wind up in his inventory.
There’s no good reason why they shouldn’t exist so I say why not?
There is a good reason. You can use real money for the convenience of extra bag slots and bank tabs, salvage-o-matics, bank express, etc.
It’s pretty hard to complain about your bags overflowing with loot though. It is annoying, but it’s also anet throwing wads of gold at us. I’ve made obscene amounts of gold since HoT.
I dont see how you have, as alot of things, especially exotics, have dropped from 3-4 gold each to around 1-1.5 gold each… blues and greens have taken a good hit too.
A lot of mat prices have gone through the roof, or at least become worth something.
I know the zephyrites exploded, but they still exist. I think we could see the return of labyrinthine cliffs at some point, especially considering how wildly popular that update was.
Is there a way to the champ spider without leyline gliding? I haven’t really paid attention to what I was doing in DS because of that stupid timer.
We can’t know for sure what they want to do, but there was an interview a year or so ago where one of the devs explained the obvious: adding a new race means new low level area, new low level story missions, new starting city, etc. Basically a lot of work on stuff you only care about when you’re level 4. Adding a new profession is something you can use forever.
And we saw the results, we got the revenant.
Nothing in DS requires ley-line gliding.
For map completion you need it for a couple areas (or a mesmer friend). But to play the map, it’s not required of course.
Another thought, I bought it through the in game store, so if you buy it from a different computer make sure you do whatever is required to link it to your core account. Since the core game is free, you wouldn’t want it making an entirely new account for you.
It’s pretty hard to complain about your bags overflowing with loot though. It is annoying, but it’s also anet throwing wads of gold at us. I’ve made obscene amounts of gold since HoT.
Digital. It is added to your core account, so it doesn’t matter where you buy it from.
I’d also throw out there black friday is coming up, so there might be a sale?
There is a guide on the front page of reddit by the SC druid. I didn’t really look at it because I despise reddit, but I believe he had videos as well.
I assumed that was the only way to complete it (other than using food or something.) How had anyone else been able to finish it? There aren’t any variables other than the timing of the heal. If someone came up with a way for a friend to help, I would hate to see that removed. That’s creative problem solving, unlike the intended way to finish it which is just pressing the heal button.
If you play fractals at all, 20 slot bags are basically free. I have them on all my characters. It adds up.
I tried autocast, didnt even come close. Sounds like there was a change if ppl were able to do it before.
You need to use it almost immediately the first time, if you use it when you get the most effect, the pattern will be off and you won’t make it. Although who knows how it will work now.
How or why would anyone want to exploit this? All you do is push 6 a few times and you win. Or like Azurem I just put it on autocast, so I pressed it once.
9,000? Compare it to League of Legends 32,000,000
You would think it would give ArenaNet the hint they should fix and improve PvP
Compare it to the Super Bowl and GW2 is pathetic. What’s your point? The money rewards and viewership keep climbing exponentially. It’s not hurting anyone for them to say the match is going on, and it’s helping a lot of people. What’s the problem here? Should they stop helping people?
Why are people wetting their pants because anet is telling us that something is happening that we want to watch? Because a handful of PvE players are offended by it for no reason, and it’s disturbing their loading screen? No.
Agreed, nobody cares about this nonsense
I arrived there, and more than a handful of people I know arrived there because of the ad. They’ve never been really good about getting schedules out. So me, and the 9,000 other people that watched EU, probably would disagree with you.
It’s pretty common to think your opinion is fact, but you need to try to move beyond your own mind and think about other people and what they want.
I would guess exactly 0 of the people in the pro league got there because they were (primarily) practicing to make money and not just playing a game they like in their spare time. Maybe a single digit number of them making a living by streaming. So for the people that wind up winning a huge amount of money, it’s basically just a fun surprise.
I probably spend as much time kittening around in game as some of them, and I do it because I don’t feel like fixing the gutters or whatever. If someone gave me 10 grand for not fixing the gutters, that’s fine with me.
Are you going into the dungeon alone? They’re meant for a 5 man team.
Switching “elements”, I get the feeling you and other posters are confusing some terms. They’re not talking about your traits in the hero panel, but rather the attunements that are on your F1-F4 skills. You need to use all of those to be a good ele.
Exotic gear is very easy to get, although it would take some time to explain exactly where you get it. One of the easiest is to use the wiki to look up karma merchants.
This may get you started: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Armor_set
Ideally you’d talk to someone in game, as there are a lot of ways to gear up.
I’m primarily an explorer, and the vertical nature of HoT makes it actively uninteresting to me.
HoT has a TON of exploration value. There are even quite a few visible and hidden achievement tracks for exploring. I have played almost nothing but the new maps since they came out, and I still have not found half the things I know are out there. Today on two different occasions I just wandered off in a direction I had unfogged and walked a bunch of times, but I hadn’t really looked before and found a bunch of cool new stuff, even APs dinging. (I found a chicken on the face of a massive cliff yesterday for 5 AP?)
If you enjoy wandering around finding things, I think you’d love HoT. Maybe wait till it goes on sale.
Why is gold not feasible for a new player? A single map-meta event in one of the HoT maps should get you at least a couple gold worth of loot, if not several. Salvaging all the rares will get you about 12 ectos. You also get about 60 silk, which significantly cuts down on the amount of gold you need to craft damask. And then there is everything else you pull in.
Free money, yo.
This seems to be one of the reasons Temple is excluded from competitive play, which I think is a real shame since its a great map with a secondary objective that actually changes the dynamic (forcing teams to play 5 points) without being completely cheesy or overpowered.
+onesies. Temple is the most interesting map by far, I would love to see even some of the worn-out matches of teams we’ve seen a thousand times play on Temple.
Forest – beasts usually aren’t used at all.
Foefire – Uh, ROM solo’d the lord in a few seconds last time I saw him in a tourney.
Khylo – Sort of interesting. Trebs are rarely a factor, fun when they are.
Nike just put out a burn zerker video. 34k burns
Devil’s advocate: The way the did it establishes who the top teams are, let’s people see how skilled their players are, and let’s people who don’t know them find someone to route for. Sort of like how tons of people around the US like the New York Yankees, just sort of because they’ve heard of them and they’re usually a pretty good team.
It also creates an underdog story, as the lower tier teams are probably going to get better as they continuously face tough competition, and are almost certainly going to win a map here and there, if not a set.
lol 8 teams . They should just pre split the prize money of what 400k? 50k per team 10k per player. Thank you very much for the free cash and go on to do real life stuff like attend classes.
It’s 16, and you sound pretty jealous you don’t get paid tens of thousands of dollars to play 30 minutes of video games for a few weeks.
I think you’re mixing up the pro and amateur leagues. You can compete to replace the lowest ranked pro-league team for next season, but only the pro league teams compete for the world finals.
