Hold on to your cele gear, especially since it’s very time expensive to make. Its good for WvW.
Rather than maurader, you can get berserker gear for “free” from karma or dungeon tokens. If you have either of those, check it out. If you really can’t get by in berserker, and you can, just add a couple soldier’s trinkets.
Hell maybe even equip a sigil of nullification just to rub it in.
That in theory could actually harm you, since you might get less stability to turn into damaging CC.
They need to watch this autoattack VERY CAREFULLY or it’s going to get absurdly out of control. And by very carefully I mean like, it’s only able to corrupt resistance or something. Corrupting stability means stability is removed from the game entirely.
Also why is this the balance patch of autoattacks getting buffed to lethal levels? The preview Guild Chat showed a thief autoattacking a heavy golem for 4k. Press 1 to win from now on?
Druids may be a team fight anchor, but in NO WAY will they be anything like the current chrono bunkers. Just team support and then flee when focused. See above posts for reasons.
metabattle.com should point you in the right direction for every game type, but really it’s the same ol’ “pure glass or you’re doing it wrong.” Berserker, and the only other addition is condi is now viable with viper’s.
Raids, PvP, and WvW are their own things of course. And oh ya, raids exist.
Nike from DnT posted a top 5 raiding mistakes video, and putting druid in a seperate group is listed as one of them. Check it out on youtube for his reasoning.
Terror + scepter autoattack = Dhuumfire’s Revenge.
I understand Engineer have more DPS, no pet, so less potential survavibility in PVE and of course cannot heal as well as a Druid would. Am I correct?
More DPS in very specific situations, but nothing 99% of players will notice or even be able to achieve.
No profession has any trouble at all surviving in PvE, pets just make it more braindead if you want to explore while drinking heavily or something.
Druids can heal more, but that only really applies to raids. Even for PvP, engi’s healing is very potent.
If you want to improve your personal skill, you have to ditch the playstyle of just using LB 1 and 2 while hiding behind a bear. You could start by using melee only in an easier environment like Orr, preferably in full zerk, and use only skills to survive.
You can always go back to LB, but with a better understanding of the game.
Then you give your party more damage
What about buffs, heals and cc?
Because of the dodge mechanic and self heal to prevent “looking for healer”, GW2 PvE has always been and always will be about damage. Bosses are tuned around the fact that players can mitigate big attacks by dodging, and then heal themselves if they mess up. It’s very “action oriented” instead of just heal numbers and what not from older RPGs.
Buffs; ranger has some outstanding damage buffs. The defensive buffs are basically limited to an AoE block on the guardian so you don’t have to bother dodging that time.
Heals; useless in 99.999999999% of PvE content. The expacs 10-man raids use a healer, otherwise people take care of themselves.
CC; everyone has CC and it’s used almost exclusively for a mechanic bosses have where you need to mass CC them to stop some ultra powerful ability. If that bar isn’t up, CC often doesn’t even affect the boss.
PvP and WvW are where you want to be if you care about doing something other than damage.

Weird to see the regen and heal trait for pet, not sure if troll since no invigorating bond. Shout regen trait kinda makes sense to generate AF along with SoW but odd on maruader.
RT is pretty stock. Not only do you want a traited heal skill and elite, it also gives you the IMS. Pet regen is because wilting strike is bugged on HoT pets.
The first 15 or so levels also unlock much quicker than all the following ones. Or they did for a while after the NPE fiasco. I think they still do.
I think sword and maybe s/d is our best bet for pvp. It is our only way to mitigate unrelenting assault reliably. Without it we just take too much damage in the current meta. Normally, I would prefer greatsword but the block doesn’t do anything in this meta, talking about pvp of course.
Edit 2: I just saw the build you ran yesterday in another thread. The choice of sword makes a lot more sense to me now.
Somehow we’ve completely swapped positions. You used to be the biggest GS fan and me the sword fan. Now, if you’re using staff + sword/dagger, I just don’t see where your damage is coming from. Exclusively your pet pretty much, and maybe rabid (??) (edit: Actually they aren’t removing magi, I intuitively thought they would. All the pure condi amulets left suck though, and none have healing power.) for the poison damage makes sense after the upcoming changes.
Although I do think that could be our role now that eles and mesmers are taking a hit, and especially if shouts pan out, we may be the obvious choice for teamfight anchors.
(edited by Fluffball.8307)
Really? Because I remember the side that won typically didn’t Zerg and capped undefended points.
Sometimes you’d have groups of 4 eles running around solo capping, but their up-pips combined with kill times were so slow alone that it only worked if the other team was doing the same thing. Otherwise you’d spend 5 minutes waiting for it to cap and then be back-capped in seconds by 4 up-pips. But we digress. Back to conquest.
another would be having some bruisers that die slow so that your roamer can go decap. In fact, if the enemy team insists on zerging then you can just avoid them and split into 2 groups and cap wherever they aren’t.
This doesn’t work. Let’s simplify the scenario and say it’s 4v5 on mid, and your thief is running around solo capping. The thief decaps at the same speed that the team of 5 caps mid, yet they’re also killing and not just standing there waiting for a single up-pip. The team of 5 wins. Whoever wins the team fights wins because the total pip uptime is the same no matter where the players are. However you distribute 10 players across any number of points, the total of up and down pips equals 0.

Why even bother defending a point if it’s literally impossible to hold it?
I feel like this just leads to 5 v 5 on every single node. That’s what you did in alliance battles, you never left your team.
The secondary objectives on every single PvP map are of questionable value most of the time. Sometimes they’re game winning. If the score is 497 red with double cap to 492 blue with single cap, you may be happy someone picked up ferocity.
The total tier difference of the two teams is 9 percent, and player skill or experience isn’t even represented anywhere you can see it. You lost a game, you lose a pip.
…. I just want to see the animation for when the drags your party members to you… I think it would be hilarious to see….
That’s what I was wondering about as well. I assume they’re going to teleport, and not actually show a raven dragging a norn across the map like a piece of carrion.
I usually pre-cast #2 > #1 > #3
Just to make sure I won’t be blinded in time my #3 hits.
That’s an interesting combo. And 2 is never wasted with all the random condi arbitrarily thrown around.
Aside from condi cleanse, how are you employing the offensive and healing capabilities of CA? Just spamming 1 and 3? Staff 5 into CA 3 then immediately leave? Waiting on 4? Bothering at all with 5 or glyphs?
With very few exceptions, everyone does their own stuff. If you apply it, it’s yours. (i.e, if you splash someone elses waterfield, it’s your HP that heals you.)
this patch is a witchhunt to eradicate all and every single bunker build there is.
Ok, over dramatic much?
Your rock paper scissors thing only works if the bunkers are able to be killed, and right now they aren’t. They need toned down. You can still run a dolyak rune cavs shield warrior (or whatever, insert beefcake) if you want an anchor for your other roles.
If your pet is on “avoid combat” or you have recalled it (F3), you need to use the attack command (F1) or the pet will stay by your side.
1200 toughness
900 vitality
900 healing
This idea has been brought up a thousand times, and every time it’s worse than the previous time.
I want a class that can burst people down relatively fast but also have mobility and survivability.
That describes a lot of builds since those are the 3 most important things in PvP. It’s pretty hard to recommend anything based on that, but you could give herald a try.
Also you weren’t playing any profession right if you’re doing the same rotations over and over. In GW2 you need to react to what your opponent does. That may have been a problem of you fighting stupid AI in PvE rather than an opponent that is trying to mess you up.
I also sort of disagree with your impressions of each profession. A lot changes based on what type of gear and traits you take. Edit: And I mean by that basically everything changes, most professions can play super bunker-y or full glass cannon and everything in between.

Hey devs, how difficult would it be to put a special camera restriction on the roof of the clock tower? It would be nice if it forced your camera in a couple feet for you instead of scrolling in and out.
Changing your profession isn’t going to make the reflects go away.
As I understand it, when the CC bar comes up you have a certain time limit to stun him. You do want to stun him, but since his breakbar is a joke, you can afford to wait “till the third bite” and then explode the bar.
The first one is almost exactly the meta ranger build from before HoT.
The second one is slightly off. It looks like you combined the old meta build with the current meta build… you’ve got a glyph trait but no glyphs equipped.
Most people are using druid, which means you want staff, and that means you don’t have many weapon choices. S/D is still as strong as ever, but it doesn’t fit in a druid build that well.
Condi rangers usually take sword and dagger on opposite weapon swaps to split up the evades.
Ranger is fine for PvE as are all 9 professions, and it’s outstanding in WvW. Warrior is extremely strong in PvE. Whoever told you warrior is not good in PvE is out of their dang minds.
Im just a bit dissapointed they didnt do anything about guard…
The only gave a handful of example changes, this isn’t the full list.
I was really interested in this. I think crusader is still tops on our list, probably more than any other unless you want to do a hybrid sage. Sage and defensive rune is probably the new cele.
Requesting the video of FrouFrou laughing hysterically at this for like 10 minutes.
Way too many. More than there should be. Most you come across in legend play like rubies.
No need to insult Bayer!
I don’t get why people are hating on PM. Most PvP rangers and druids already trait for shouts so it’s a 48 second AoE stunbreak in the biggest CC spam meta of GW2 history, and it’s more CC on our part. And some AoE prot, regen and swiftness for fun. Trooper runes are looking like a solid choice for a more bunkery druid with no access to cele (and with chrono bunker getting nerfed). All that combined makes it a pretty clear rival to GoE or LR (or even used in combo).
We just need to see the actual numbers. Is the CD changed, what taunt duration and range (infinite?), etc. But so far I am pretty happy with what they told us.
Edit: Apparently there is no longer a rune of the trooper in PvP? I swear there used to be, but it doesn’t show up when I search the runes.

Related, the new amulets are up in the PvP forum.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/pvp/Upcoming-Changes-to-PvP-Runes-Sigils-Amulets/
I wonder if it’s in addition to regen, like natural healing-ish? Even if the trait didn’t already give the boon regen, no one GaF about regen. If you played the game blind folded on heroin while in a medically induced coma you’d still have regen. Probly just regular regen.
I get the feeling it will be lowered, but they didn’t mentioned numbers. There is no point in reworking the skill if it’s still on such a crazy CD. Many professions already have a rez skill on a huge CD that no one takes.
Ironically many elite skills are less important than utility skills and you see warbanner, or have in the past anyway.
Depending on the CD, PM sounds like a possible improvement over the glyphs in the current popular builds. Since shouts are already fit into most builds, this is pretty exciting. Just have to see the final numbers. Perhaps trooper runes are the next meta. We might become team fighting machines! Especially with the presumed death of cele amulet and the associated team fighting builds.
What was the PM change? I only half caught it, wife walked in and started talking during it. I heard AoE stunbreak and something about taunt.
I’m really curious if they buff them enough that people consider running shout rangers/druids over the more typical glyph build. If not, it’s not going to be that interesting.
This balance patch would be a good time to bring core builds in line with elite specs, now that the HoT buying phase is over.
/pipe dreams
If you had a gs + s/wh warrior in full ascended nomads contesting your keep, that would be nearly impossible to stop as well. This isn’t thief specific, it’s just trolls tend to prefer thief.
They aren’t based on earth druids, they’re based on the GW1 druids. Yes all RPG druids have their origins in earth druids, but GW2 druids are about 4 layers removed from that. If anet wanted them to change gender every 4 seconds, that would be canon for them.
Do mesmers still use GS in PvP? They do in WvW, but I mostly see chrono bunkers with 1h sword and staff. I am not a mesmer player though. Guardians use LB and 1h sword mostly as well.
Rangers are far and away the best and most meta in PvP with GS. I’ve never seen any necro use a GS in PvP, and warriors if they exist are probably using GS and rifle.
Anet hasn’t told us specifically what they’re changing. It’s extremely doubtful DH will get obliterated though, it’s not even that great of a PvP spec as is.
Do you have to kill them on the point? I thought they get “tagged” for a while so they could run off and you still get the daily. I’ve honestly never paid any attention because I seem to just get it automatically.
Well warriors aren’t wanted in PvP at all, but if you want to play one, berserker GS is good. And there is no way anet is going to keep warriors out of the PvP meta for long, warriors are sort of the poster boy for GW.
