The whole game, with the exception of the Heart of Thorns zones and pvp/wvw/fractals, is in Tyria.
HoT is in Tyria a well. Tyria is both the name of the continent as well as the name of the planet, both of which apply to HoT.
Presumably the OP is in the PvP lobby or something. Need more info.
People see many past metas through rose colored glasses. Just the other day someone made a thread saying the days of d/d cele ele was the perfect meta… ya ok buddy.
Can’t wait for the thread saying 5 rev teams are ideal because we’re all on equal footing like an FPS.
i got mine at queensland after 1 kill
You murdered an Australian player for his gear?
I think MoC now applies the 50% bump of the tooltip instead of the 100% bump we had for years. (?)
Do you mean outfit? You can use that on any character via your hero panel.
T2 WvW is fine, especially if you’re in NA primetime hours. Roaming is far more active on T2 than T1. It’s not worth the transfer cost unless you discover you’re not getting what you want for some reason.
Also anet is working on some big WvW overhaul that they refuse to talk about, ETA TBD.
Just out of curiosity is it a median mode or a mean?
Edit: math terms.

PUG or guild For-Funsies premades were at a slight disadvantage because MMR put them against better opponents. Legit premades on voice comm have a huge advantage. Knowing that helps explain Anet’s confusing statement.
Neither core ranger nor druid are about damage, never have been and never will be. They’re both about outlasting the other guy. Whether that is through healing or CC or evades or stealth or whatever.
qqmore.net is a good resource (ignore the name, it’s honestly a really well done site.)
Hi, would you be willing by any chance to make a list of those somewhere? I think it would be very useful to learning players. I’m just starting down that road of getting elites and it would help me greatly to have an efficient path to progress through the maps.
Absolutely. It’s been 5 months or whatever since I did all this, but off the top of my head (and check Dulfy.net or something for more specifics and maps if needed. Edit: Just randomly googled a map to help with the read through , numbers don’t match mine.):
10) Enter VB and jump straight off the cliff to the west. There is a HP at the very bottom of the map where you just kill a vet.
20) Use updraft (or WP if needed) up to the crossroads directly to the west of the hole you just came out of. The HP at the road intersection is a channel. You need to jump off the cliff and glide to a ledge.
30) Go back up, and the HP directly the northwest of you is guarded by some baby wyverns and possibly a couple vets, very easy to kill the whole group if needed.
40) The HP directly SW of that you do another drop down to the bottom of the map and channel.
50) Go back up and due west you drop down a tree to almost the bottom of the map to avoid the poison clouds and channel it.
60) The NW most HP is a channel high up along a cliff face.
Before you leave VB for AB, take a visual peak to see if anyone is doing the point right at the exit of the map, if not just move on.
70) Depending on how many HPs you need, you can do the mushroom one due south of the entrance. It’s a champ, but pretty easy to solo, and there are often people doing it anyway.
Edit: 130) If you have nuhoc wallows, this is a good time to do the Burnisher Quarry channel in the far NE, the wallow is in the far NW.
80) I’m not sure if the one immediately to the south of that is re-activated by Anet yet, but if so, it’s just an eat bacon and use the heal skill… self explanatory once you see it.
90) Check the ori node HP immediately SE of the northwatch waypoint. It’s within visual range, so people are almost always there doing it. It’s fairly easy to solo if you need it.
100) Jump off the north gate of Tarir and glide SE to a channel.
110 and 120) The HP after the meta event is always done by the entire map, so whenever that opportunity comes up you can take it. A large group usually does the far SW HP together after the meta as well.
That will get you most characters’ elite unlocked. If not, just fill in the gaps wherever. There are plenty of easy HPs and channels further into the maps if needed. The whole process can take a matter of minutes or maybe an hour depending on how many champs you decide to fight and how lost you get. The getting lost part goes away on your following characters.

Maybe you are a veteran player with map complession on most characters
I had 50% on 2, 2 had 100%, and the rest were at “just get this thing to level 80 so I can WvW” range. Whatever that was, like 20% or something.
I don’t really understand your anger towards me. I explained how I did it and how it was incredibly easy for anyone. You can do it too. Hell, if you want I’ll run you through the 200 points or whatever it is to max your elite from scratch, but only on one of your characters. It takes very little effort even with 0% HoT map completion on a character. In fact as I progressed through the characters I got a path down, hitting the easiest HCs in a single line to progress through the maps.
Do you mean the jumping puzzle in Mt Maelstrom? There is no way to walk there. I suppose you could teleport to a friend, but that would be a waste. The keepers always spawn in the same locations, so it’s pretty easy to get in. Off the top of my head, there is one on the eastern side of the volcano near the slyvari, and there is one near the inquest base where the ettins are, I believe there is one in the swampy area just south of the pact base near the CoE as well.
It’s basically a legendary. Treat it like such, and accept you’ll have to save for months on end or use real money. I seriously doubt anyone is going to give you 1900 gold; very few people would even be able to do that and it would waste months of their own effort.
I unlocked all 9 elite specs at about 10 or 20 minutes of play per character, my main aside since I took my time and explored everything (and that was back before the # change). It’s extremely little effort once you know where the channeled 10-pointers are.
They had a tournament before the season started to see which teams would be in the pro league. Half of them were given spots based on past performances, and the other half had to fight their way in. Every season the lowest pro leaguers have to fight to keep their spot.
You git what you git and you don’t throw a fit.
Isn’t that an issue of rarity? A level 55 bag won’t stack with a level 80 bag, and so on?
I’d like another amulet with healing power as minor stat so my druid can play something in-between paladin and mender
1050 power 1050 precision 560 toughness 560 healing power
The VIP players who talk directly to the devs are probably the reason the meta often totally excludes certain professions. I agree this forum is filled with noob complaint threads, but the last thing we need are a handful of biased players who for better or worse have personal agendas having their way with the game. I mean put Helseth in charge of balance and what exactly do you think is going to happen? It’s not a dig at those players, but human nature.
And it’s all sort of irrelevant anyway, the devs are going to ignore most of the junk threads. They probably have an intern to sift through the mess and find reasonable points.
Did a lot of PvPers stop playing because the season ended? I’m not so sure I’m buying that. People who PvP a lot are going to… PvP a lot.
More likely, PvPers continued to PvP, PvE players stopped once the season ended, and this has nothing to do with the OP.
I assume you mean PvE? If PvP, hammer rev isn’t used, dragon hunter fails against non-noobs, and eles don’t generally fight at range.
For single target, it’s definitely berserker LB ranger, and it’s also far and away the easiest profession to play in PvE. Any of the professions you listed are totally fine though. Ele does good AoE damage.
Rampage = kills
Conquering = Cap points
Siege master = Repair treb
Demo expert = Treb kill
Make it rain = Treb hits
Edit: Combat Medic = rezzes
I don’t notice them anymore so I am not sure it’s up to date.

“Fights” hah.
“Fights” are fighting people, whether it’s 1v1 or 5v5 or 15v15. Not the nonsense a few servers like the old BG or the new YB or a few other notoriously dull WvW servers tried to pull where you just take cap points at the expense of playing a game.
It’s insanely lame by anyone’s standards and why that type of play died off. I’m interested what the devs have in mind with this total overhaul.
5vs11111 is 1% of ranked games.
I think that’s what I said… very few people want team queues, and has been expressed on the forums and LOT of people want solo queues. So again, I suppose what we have now is a good compromise and I’m not terribly upset either way.
This old garbage of “oh _ is the best at WvW” is long gone. No one cares at this point; WvW is for fights only. Except for a few servers like YB that are playing a game no one else is playing.
The whole thing is getting redone in an overhaul to WvW the devs keep talking about.
What they’re doing at this point is a decent comprise if we have to to cater to premades. The overwhelming majority of people seem to want solo Q (1% of ranked games are premades according to anet.)
There is a slight delay before the condi clear. It’s like half a second or something.
before HOT it was pretty close to a ideal meta.
0% ranger representation in tournaments for years? Auto-lose if you have more than 1 thief OR mesmer on your team? Guess you played ele…
The meta changes. Ideally all professions are allowed to participate. Elite specs are obviously power creep, but maybe we’re heading to a point where all professions are allowed to play.
Great use of hunter’s shot. I feel like most non-main rangers use PBS the second someone gets close to them, but HS is nearly always better, especially with entangle as your elite.
LB vs reaper is a murder fest. They stand no chance and never have. LB hard counters necro 100% of the time if you have room to move.
In WvW tonight I killed this poor reaper several times in a row, so he apparently called in (it looked like the were communicating, I could be wrong, whatever) a second reaper and they both died. I can brag because LB did the work, not me.
In PvP it’s better to lose the cap of the point and win the fight rather than hold it and die.
I usually use tab, but when things go completely wrong like you’re describing I prefer to mouse click the target. Tabbing works most times, but when everything is falling apart you know Murphy’s Law will kick in.
You got 2 hours of dishonor on the first offense?
Unfortunately it looks like crusader amulet is going to get hit before the upcoming season. Probably have to go paladin.
Pretty sure he’s talking about dragonite ore and etc.
Who is this trying to convince? You’re not going to fool the devs with these completely ridiculous “experiments”.
on a sidenote, am I the only occasional oddball that actually likes stronghold?
It’s not balanced enough. The concept is fine, but players basically broke it by using team work.
Also NPCs suck in PvP. I hate all NPCs.
Every single map they’ve ever made has a secondary mechanic so that’s not going to happen. It’s too simple to have none at all, then you just sit on the points in a coma without having to think about anything that could potentially swing the match.
I do agree any new maps should have well thought out secondary objectives, and some that are very minor like Khylo are great. But to have nothing at all is brain dead and not fun.
Rather than farming several thousand mats, you might consider just playing normally until you have a pile saved in your bank. Don’t even count them, just keep putting stacks of 250 in your bank. That will make it feel fun instead of a grind.
That’s how I make things. Just wait until I have way too much of stuff and then poof I have a huge new pile of cool gear.
It’s been said you’re not truly an adult until your parents die, so you could kill your pet’s parents if you can find them, in some terribly twisted RP episode.
Like this game we lost with 480 vs 500 just to see the message that we won i was reading the score in reverse
This happens to me constantly. I’m not sure how much my color blindness factors in. Obviously I’m not red-blue colorblind, but colors in general are more muted for me, so I don’t instantly read color-coded interfaces. Sometimes I don’t even notice there is a color on something.
Sort of like how I read traffic lights via the light placement (by the way, the sideways traffic lights are an absolute death trap for me, I have to just assume the light is red no matter what color it is), a consistent placement would help me figure out what info I’m looking at.
Couple things: Do you have autoloot enabled and are picking things up without you noticing? And more importantly, most event mobs don’t drop loot, and like 98% of DS is events.
So just keep a bunch of tomes on hand and hope i always need the same stats., ?
Both use berserker for their high end stuff. Some professions don’t at this point, but luckily for you these two use the same stats.
Getting to level 80 is completely trivial. If you really don’t want to level, you can use tomes and what not like you mentioned. After that, it’s just having enough bank slots open to swap their gear.
Ascended gear is account bound and they’re both light armor, so you don’t actually need to choose.
Ah yes, the grandmaster trait that can avoided by walking in any direction. Of course the PvP forum has a complaint thread. Get it together.
What is this build you are talking about? Care to share?
Predator’s Onslaught gives you bonus damage for those condis, but it’s a PvE trait and totally unacceptable for PvP.
As far as cripples and immobs, rangers have always been the undisputed kings of that.
DnT recently came out with a video suggesting 2 damage focused (full vipers) condi druids. If that’s worth anything.
You might want to keep an eye on the 10 ranger raid thread as well. That will succeed.
Rule of thumb for anything involving money: Get 5 “quotes”. In this case, go to amazon.com, walmart.com, (or whatever) and then the 3 stores closest to you that sell monitors.
You can find a pretty huge (like several feet), high quality monitor for in the 100-200 dollar range. I would personally recommend you splurge because a monitor is something you’re going to get tens of thousands of hours out of.
Edit: I know I didn’t quite answer your question, but I’ve literally never had a monitor fail on me in my entire life, and I’m pretty old.

If that was the only bug with vine surge, today would be a good day for the developers. That skill is whacky as hell.
Oh ok, I mistakenly viewed your “pew pew” comment as a negative. I agree staff gets it done.
