I would not cry if Maul got a blast finisher.
The entire guild I am apart of on TC was disappointed when we saw that we were still matched up against BG and SOR Friday. Pretty much all of the main WvW guilds have decided to sit out of WvW and do fractals and other PvE stuff instead of give the other two servers free bags it would seem.
Most people only find WvW fun when they are winning, which is anet’s biggest design failure. Losing in spvp? Get a new game in a few minutes. Losing in WvW? Play a different game for a week because you can’t beat the enemy’s numbers.
Make defending and being outmanned more rewarding and fun than being in a giant circle-cap zerg and people will care less about losing.
I think Anet’s fear is if they make being outmanned too rewarding, people will start trying to exclude each other in order to get to that outmanned point.
Dunno if that outweighs the current suck for underpopulated realms though.

You can never have to many Healing Springs.
My issue with Healing Spring is that it’s still our 6 button, so you get to decide if you need to save it for yourself or drop it with the ball.
You didn’t need to chain stun in DaoC, a single stun was nine seconds long and a AE mez was just under a minute.
Seriously, I understand the nostalgia for the game, but it was (is?) a unbalanced mechanical nightmare.
There’s no way to fix it in the current system without forcing people to move servers. Then you probably ruin one server in order to elevate another.

Half the time I pick them up by accident when I’m trying to loot bags
This is without food/oil but with Signet of stone. It’s a mix of Orange and Yellow pieces, mostly yellow (First 80 and all that). It’s all Invaders(Or Soldiers I guess), but I put Ruby gems into my 6 trinket/accessory pieces. I try to fill the crit holes with food, oil and Sigil’s of Perception, but I’m still fairly subpar when compared to someone going full zerk.
Profession : Ranger
Vitality/Hit points : 1478 / 22,358
Power : 3083
Precision : 1365
Toughness : 2893
Crit%/CritDmg : 25% / 32%
I should get a fair bit more Crit Damage as soon as I get armor runes that don’t blow chunks. (Rune of the Ranger is like 2 gold each, Rune of Rata Sum was like 2 silver though!) With a full sigil stack, food/oil and fury up, I will end up with 60-70% crit chance at least.
DaoC was a game where you had hundreds of people die in literal seconds thanks to a handful of casters and a unfortunate bit of lag.
You mean an unfortunate lack of awareness due to not panning their cameras while mindlessly following the zerg leader. A large group of people all clumped up on each other not paying attention deserve to die in seconds to a smaller group bombing them to kitten and back with AoE.
I don’t mind the fact fact that people like to run in big zergs, and I don’t mind getting rolled by larger numbers. But the fact that the side that already has the numerical advantage is getting its hand held by an AoE cap as well as how the rally system works stacks the odds so much in a zergs favor they don’t have to pay attention at all.
Bumping the cap to 10 would create more interesting fights (IMO). Zergs could still clump for buffs pre-fight. Spreading out (instead of clumping even more) when AoEs start to hit. It would help spread out the fight in a larger area instead of just a mass ball of players.
Nah man, the DaoC engine was not that good. We would be inside zergs and exploding them before any of them even rendered us half the time. They got to react to their friends corpses.
Put that aside though, look at like, any Lord room fight. In that game or even this one. Look at how ridiculous it is to break into a choke/room when they got the AC stack going. What happens when you got everyone adding their own limitless AE on top of that choke point.
Like sure, my ranger is poor and could use the bag money, but it’s not really a good time.
Eh, I don’t really see how Remorseless could be too powerful in that regard. If an auto-crit on maul was really that fearsome, we would probably see a few more Sigils of Intelligence.
The entire Opening Strike line of minors basically needs Remorseless to actually like… work. It’s not a game changing trait like most of the other Grandmaster slots. It’s just… meh.
Really the big problem would be figuring out what could replace it and compete with Signet of the Beastmaster. Probably need something brand new. No idea what.

The goal should be to make Longbow feel like a unique weapon. Leave conditions on shortbow and let longbow remain the power alternative.
1 – Slightly increased damage for the 0-900 range. 901-max range has an additional 10% chance to crit or a +30% crit damage bonus.
2 – Change the channel down to 3-3.5 seconds. Leave vuln here. The channel time is the real DPS killer.
3 – 1.5 second channel aimed shot that deals very high damage
4 – I agree and this is where I would have put stealth if I hit myself on the head and thought stealth was needed in the first place.
5 – Nothing wrong with barrage. A shorter channel I’d be cool with though.
Marksmanship
Minor Trait 1: Pet and Ranger gain opening strikes
Minor Trait 2: Opening Strikes have a 100% chance to crit.
Minor Trait 3: Piercing Arrowsthat’s where I would start.
Are there currently any minor traits that are as weapon specific as Piercing Arrows would be in that position? I guess it would cover two weapons for the ranger… just seems odd?
Really what I would want if we are futzing with the minor’s is take your suggested minor’s for 1 and 2, then put Remorseless as the 3rd minor. I’ve never really liked it as a end of the line Major, even with it’s change now. Doesn’t seem to have enough impact to me to justify that kind of slot.
I’d also roll Eagle Eye into the longbow by default and get rid of the trait.
DaoC was a game where you had hundreds of people die in literal seconds thanks to a handful of casters and a unfortunate bit of lag.
Combine ‘Shared Anquish’ and ‘Hide in Plain Sight’ into one trait. So a stun is transferred to your pet, and you gain stealth.
That would be a good idea. It would give rangers access to stealth and give us a good option for a stun lose.
I wouldn’t want the CD of the stealth portion to be increased any
If they want to drop Shared Anguish to 30 seconds though
Would it be the same for Regen sources? Like our Healing Spring, would that regen use our value or the recipients?
I always assumed the Ranger role was supposed to be solo roamer, since it has such sketchy group support.
That would certainly be the role in a RP/Lore sense yea.
I want to say just about any kind of Ranger can manage it fairly quickly and easily. It’s basically just solo PvE and Rangers in general are really good at that I find.
If I can get a good angle and pierce 3 or more targets, total cake walk.
21k Health or 21k Effective Health?
I kinda just want to replace the current GS attacks with a 2h Spear. Like keep all the same numbers, just a cosmetic change. I always found the rangers GreatSword animations a little bit goofy.
We sorta already have half the 2h animations ready with the underwater Spear stuff, but I honestly have no idea how much animation work it would take to make it work on land too.
I kinda want Remorseless to just be the default behavior for the whole Opening Strike trait line. Opening Strikes is just not that fantastic without it, it’s not really that fantastic with it.
But without it, the 25 points in the line get applied once per combat, not matter how short or long that combat ends up being. It’s such a one and done deal. Do other classes have trait lines like this?

Can we merge the arrow pierce trait and the longbow range trait? Pretty Please?
Making maul a blast finisher would be super rad too. Like the longbow ideas as well.
Guys let’s make something GREAT.
I mean are’t you tired of eternal disappointment with every single patch? Of nerfes? Of hopes being broken?
Lets make a RIOT. I mean the whole Ranger Community must unite in order to show Anet that this won’t go much longer. We are people, who paid 60 bucks for the game which is just lame in terms of balance! Lame in terms of Rangers!
Lets make something significant. Petitions, letters, strikes, game quits, rerolling whatever. I am open to your suggestions if you agree with me. I just don’t wont to be trolled over and over again by the devs.
This did happen in WOW shaman got this kind of treatment and went on strike. Shaman all gathered in ORGAMAR. Their was so much lag in ORG that it shut down servers. By the way it did work not to long after that shaman did get needed fixes.
I remember that and no it didn’t do anything. The WoW devs pushed out shaman changes on their own timeframe so that little stunt did very little to change anything. Several classes in WoW did the same kind of protests.
The only class “protest” that ever actually worked, was the Paladin one in vanilla WoW. It wasn’t so much an organized protest, as it was an enormous amount of Paladins being utterly unsatisfied with their turn on the class update wheel and just cancelling together.
They got a new update within the week :P
