I am going to post another video shortly with commentary with some pretty epic fights some 5v1 and more. Also I will show some cool tips for people who don’t already know to do some epic soloing that your team will sure appreciate in WvW. Enjoyed making a video so I will take my time and make a even better one shortly one that shows my gear and build/traits.

So according to the orb buffs in the video and the fact you linked a picture taken today and claimed it is my current stats I do believe your just trolling. Cause I doubt anyone will believe a troll when you link a picture of today when dragonbrand currently has 207k points and try to say it was taken on sept 16th which was 3 days ago. That would mean we gained 2k points in 3 days with a huge lead like that? Video’s are filmed before they are published unless you have unlocked time travel. It was published the morning of the 17th and filmed before that.

Dragonbrand rarely has 3orbs of power 0_0 especially not when the video was being recorded or I would have more health. So if your just replying to be a hater please check the video again most of the opponents have orb buff themselves.

Just some fights I put together on Sept 16th. Some of the fights were pretty fun. I didn’t spend very much time on this video cause I wanted to see how it would turn out and i’m impatient but I think thief lovers will enjoy it. I tried to keep the fights to outnumbered odds only 3v1 or fighting multiple level 80s sometimes more then once in the same encounter etc. I did put some clips of thief survivability in the video as well just to show how well the thief can move around the map and how nice our escape ability’s work. I tried not to pick the clips where I only had flawless wins. Just to be perfectly clear I do not run a power spec. Tried to pick clips where people put up a good fight. An a couple clips of just some funny stuff I saw. Hope you enjoy its my first video feel free to comment.

I also am showing you some really good info. Thieves are very important in the WvW matches. We are easily able to solo capture a supply camp.. Builds like this are for very unskilled players. Why do people build specs around killing one person every 45 seconds…. It is soooo incredibly easy to mess up these high 1 hit burst specs on any profession with a simple blind/stun breaker/Dodge. Good players don’t make these builds. If your currently running a quickness burst spec on a warrior ranger thief etc… or trying to run a back stab spec with assassin signet… your not doing much against good players. Can farm the players who have yet to learn how classes work but that’s it. One hit wonder specs are for average gamers at best sorry if I seem rude but it’s so true.

PvE there are a ton of different items you can steal. For PvP you can steal:
Warrior: AoE Dmg Attack
Thief: Extra Stealth + Blind
Engineer: Throw a lil bomb that leaves a puddle that debuffs and allows you to use combo to get chaos buff.
Mesmer : 10seconds all stats
Guardian: Mace attack that stuns
Ranger: Regen Heal
Necro: AoE Fear
Elementalist: Chill attack

Steal is the best profession skill ever… You can do attacks an steal to move your toon an continue them, You can use steal to teleport to a player who used teleport while in a downed state. Does not interrupt anything your casting. A ranger can run up and use his Ultimate root on you… You press f1 and POOF. Snare/immobilize is gone. Its a gap closer. Gives you nice little ability’s. You can prep for massive damage by picking which targets to steal from aka warrior + Daggerstorm ult = Massive AOE dmg. Even more if you let your might stack up to 14 before you start it. Steal can be used to chase people down. If they are far away just press 2 with sword/pistol teleport closer.. swap two dagger do some jumps with #2 when your perfect distance from your enemy press F1.. they will not know how you traveled that far so quickly.. I posted a video of my thief from September 16th after dagger nerf. Its currently on linksville right now. Just check out Thief solo WvW

Ha-ha, people forget the best thing about steal… You get out of snares… Ranger pops roots Ultimate on you. Press F1. It’s gone. If you don’t love F1 you don’t play a thief right.

As a thief you can still avoid dmg while rooted. Can even get out of snares without using 6-10.

OP: Did this happen yesterday? What guild was the thief in? I play on dragonbrand and was WvW all weekend so I am curious if your from maguuma or tarnished coast.

Heartseeker is currently bugged. Alot of the attacks are missing for no reason. It was hardly even nerfed. It has no noticeable difference to any decent thief using D/D.

and now you need the threshold at 25% for its maximum damage potential

That 20% dmg reduction was for players who don’t know how to open up correctly as a thief and just mindlessly spammed 2 from start to finish much needed. Does little for the rest of the thiefs.

HS wasn’t ‘hardly even nerfed’. If you understand simple math it was pretty massively nerfed.
That said, just go play Pistol Whip. As long as they don’t fix the underlying problems (quickness, how initiative works) thieves will always be a really strong, possibly OP, class.
So you get upset when other players don’t have the same difficulty’s that you express?
Pistol Whip is clunky and Haste Dependent. Quickness bursting for every class is currently the only flaw in GW2 PvP(Opinion). I use D/D & S/P but I dont use haste. I don’t want to depend on a lawl ability like that one. D/D is working as intended now people need to learn how to use the other 4 buttons in the dagger utility. Then you will realize it is almost same exact thing. Daggers are very situational even before nerf you would get more damage from a 4 then you would a 2. Can hit for 12k with #4. All depends on situations. If you struggle with D/D after nerf you obviously spammed 2 and the nerf found its correct target.

If you want to even stand a chance vs a thief 1v1 you need to start by bringing a ultimate other then roots.

Ya I agree completely all we do is spam 1 or 2 buttons and evade attacks… Just seems like the underwater combat does not fit with majority of the thief utility skills and traits…

Is anyone else having a issue with how underpowered thiefs are in water combat? Trying to use a Thief in the water in PVE is a full time job. Not to mention we can only use one ultimate in the water… and on top of that we cant stealth anymore other then our heal… I think thiefs water combat needs to be reworked a little bit instead of depending on blocking/evade spamming 5.

Any game depending on only 1 type of its player base is not working as intended. We all paid 59.99 an every ones efforts should be equal. Currently that’s not the case. Recruiting players from oceanic/Australia/China etc etc is not a solution its a exploit of a design oversight. Taking advantage of a situation is never the answer. They will be forced to fix world vs world or watch it decline rapidly into obscurity. All servers should be able to function in WvWvW as is with the only deciding factor being teamwork communication and skill. Population is not a factor that should ever take place in this type of game mode if you want people to take it seriously and enjoy it.

How are we getting outmanned buff with 1-3hour queue times? That means people are waiting to get in… but we are outnumbered in a maxed out map? Sounds like something fishy is going on.

It would be reallly hard for any leaders in WvW to make any kind of informed decision cos the potential points for each capture keep changing, and there’s no way to see what’s worth how much until actually capturing it. Kinda makes the game into a huge guesswork.
You could just add a points handicap onto the map screen or somewhere on the UI so its very easy to see which objective is currently the best to gain points. Plus it would add more depth to the game play where people have to make better decisions and not just be a mindless zerg to win. Knowing what to capture and when could be considered a skill.

So option C:
If Server A: Has 150 people
Server B: 50
Server C: 20
By focusing on Server C due to the low population of that server you would get less points then if you focused on Server A or B.
This would encourage people attacking B or A instead of ganging on the already outnumbered and weaker of the two servers for free points. Also on top of that the great majority of players for the Main server that outnumbers the rest would still get a lead. This is super important cause we do not want anyone feeling as they do not contribute to a win. You would still be able to get a lead as Server A and outnumbering the other servers although the lead would be scaled down due to the low populations of the other servers keeping the matches closer together and a very tight conflict back to back non stop action that we all desire continuously over a long period of time(1-2 weeks). The end goal would be the deciding factor of each day in the war will be determined by the full 24hours conflict.

I think that no matter how many players are inside a map the numbers should always be distributed evenly. Now.. we do not have any proof that this is occurring… but anet has yet to release proof that it is not occurring which leaves me to believe they are still looking into it. Also I do not feel as though a servers “Downtime” no matter what time zone it may be in should create such a large gap that when their majority log in…. even if they do extremely well they will be to far behind to catch up. The only reasonable thing I can see them doing to stop that from occurring would be the following…
A: Enforce population control inside each WvWvW map. So that one faction can never outnumber another server by “To Many” players. The bad side effect of this option is some time periods would have increased Queue times. But a possible good outcome from this option is maybe some population will move servers to get faster queues to even out some of these off-peak hours populations.
B: Increase the difficulty of capturing bases when a server has low population. How about making more guards making them stronger? Making them spawn faster. Making walls/Doors have more health? Giving outnumbered players a better chance of pulling off a upset and defending a keep that was claimed “lost” by allies who have already given up.
C: Control the points based on the level of difficulty of a capture. (ill go into into this more into detail next post but i am currently at work brb)

In the end a fair and just system needs to be put in place that every player from any time zone can commit effort and time into WvWvW with the feeling that they have accomplished and contributed to the overall results. An currently a very large portion of GW2 gaming community is being shafted by the current system. Which is horribly unjust and very unhealthy for the future of our GW franchise which I can say I have truely fell in love with and doing everything I can to make sure that this game stays strong and does not become just another failed “WoW Killer” as so many other people always claim when MMO’s die.

We actually did give real legit and fair reasons on how would could fix WvWvW without making any player feel as though their own time is useless. But for some strange reason A.net closed the thread after 20,000views. Maybe things got to heated but it was the most popular and most needed thread on the entire forums.

Every win in WvWvW is Determined by how well each server does at it’s low peaking times. Until this flaw is fixed their can never be any skill based wins in WvWvW. An it’s sad because people would like their efforts to be recognized. People want to be known for going out and putting up a fight and winning and earning those wins. But no server in it’s current state of WvWvW can ever be good due to the flawed system currently in place. You will always and endlessly be disputed until the end of GW2. I don’t speak for other gamers. But myself included I only want to win if I am the UNDISPUTED winner. So arena.net please fix WvWvW. So our efforts in the Eternal battlegrounds can be recognized and we can actually achieve something we can be proud of instead of this current mess.

Actually Samfisher according to the points log that Arena.net offically showed. HoD was barely winning matches when GW2 was released. Countless other servers had way better endscores then HoD untill September. An the sad truth is things slowly get more and more unbalanced due to server transfers being free. Facts are Facts your server was average during release and “HYPE” is causing transfers and ruining the WvWvW populations due to transfers being free. In the end battles are not being won with skill. Skill based pvp is how GW2 markets itself so you my friend are wrong if you think they can continue to market GW2 as a skill pvp game and leave WvWvW untouched.

For example. Your “titan alliance” could leave and join Kaineng and you wouldnt even be noticed to other servers. HoD would still get first place. An things would go on like normal. Population wins matches currently not skill.

Rofl, don’t confuse server outnumbering and arena.nets failure to queue a balanced portion of players for each server SKILL. Cause its not. In fact I hope and I really hope they make Mists like overflow and place server names next to people so you can see how bad majority of WvWvW players really are. HoD wins cause its 24/7 Queue times for WvWvW. Every other server has time periods where you can instant queue into WvWvW nuff said. Carried by population.

If you followed Anet Mike said exclusively it was which points to me that you don’t read the forum that often. You make it sound like OH HIRE SOME AUSSIES mind you our server is FULL < and its not like a ton of Aussies will magically want to join us nor can they. They didn’t say they are happy with night capping which is why they extended the tick but it didn’t work nor will it work at all. US/EU player base is the majority and if the majority is upset they will do something.
Plus I would like less AU/SEA lagers all over the place in a US server.
There’s no such thing as a “US” server in GW2. ANet has designated NA servers as INTERNATIONAL servers by virtue of pushing every non-European country into the NA servers. Deal with it.

People are upset come some server populations don’t even PvP during certain time periods. An people who are capping bases without any effort are being rewarded more then players going to war vs even teams an keeps that are defended. So ya, people are mad that the winning team is not who is better at pvp an has nothing to do with skill, its the server that can be online the most wins. An that’s a game mode that favors mouth breathers.

Tukor, the sad truth is yes it is true. Ideally we all want to think its 1/3 for each population but it’s currently whoever gets in first gets in first. I had a 3hour queue while my guild was in our borderlands and it was a ghost town we couldn’t find very many allies anywhere. I don’t notice it happening every day but I do notice it when it does.

You should consider looking into a different spec if you need to eviscerate a thief after Bull’s Charge, Frenzy, Hundred Blades.

Dagger/Dagger wasn’t broken. Sword/Pistol is broken. Hundred Blades from warriors is broken. Any class that can end a match in 4seconds using these skills needs to be changed. Combat should require more then one trick ponys. At least dagger/dagger thiefs had to manage stealth and backstab. Sword/pistol thiefs just teleport to you an wack you in the face so easy to use a caveman can do it.

Just use sword/pistol. Press 2 teleport to them use haste and press 3 hit them instantly for about 8k if they move Press f1 you will teleport to them while still hitting them with #3 at which point they will be below 50% health swap to daggers spam #2 fights over.

Devious will be jumping into the WvWvW action as soon as the 1week games begin today. You can add us if you like we plan on hosting ventrillo for people as well to get things more organized on this server. We have a vent that hosts 60 players.

Enjoy WvWvW while you can it won’t last in it’s current state. WvWvW points are meaningless 16hours a day, every server is carried by 8hours of offpeak time.

Was playing spvp and I was fighting a ranger on top of the clock tower. The ranger was standing really close to the bell. I used my steal and it shadow stepped me into the roof and I was stuck no one could attack me either.

WvWvW will always be for casuals. Any game that allows advantages in any form in a pvp scenario is for casuals. PvP is about 1 thing. Skill VS Skill best wins. Till that happens WvWvW is for casuals/hanging out with your friends nothing else.

There is no skill to top servers in WvWvW currently. Best “Graveyard crew” wins. Games are fair during the day pretty decent match ups and ruined at night. Not to mention the game mode allows 80vs 1-79 which is no different then SWTOR before the max level bracket was released. So ya WvWvW is just killing low levels outgearing most people and zerging with superior numbers and if your losing don’t worry you can cap the whole map at 3am. Long way to go before WvWvW can be taken seriously and be truly competitive.
