It’s more about having standards as decent human beings who all want to have a modicum of fun while playing the same game. Griefing and spawn camping generally discourages people from enjoying the game.

About 20-40 people (varied over the hour) from SoR were griefing the TC entrance of EB a few days ago with about five ballistas. Eventually I went out naked without arms or armor just to dance in protest, and they found it more amusing to farm us. They would not even let me dance. I guess they really wanted those “honor” badges.

The hammer may not be able to out-DPS the GS, but it’s better at keeping your party and allies around you alive. That protection buff and altruistic healing can be a godsend in dungeons, WvW, or PvP.

I honestly feel kinda bad for SoR. They are training to be T1, but SBI has mostly collapsed in on itself, and a lot of the casuals that support TC have withdrawn. I’m not entirely sure how SoR plans on prepping for T1 against a T2-T3 casual server and a T6-T8 server that’s waiting for stabilization to rebuild. I know that there are people who enjoy face-rolling other servers, usually when there is bad blood between them. Such people exist on every server, whether SBI, SoR, or TC. But the times I have been most bored with WvW is when my server is face-rolled or when we face-rolled the map, such as when a number of SoR guilds went on blackout last week. The most fun I have with WvW is when the three servers are more evenly matched, and there is a constant back-and-forth in the balance of power between the servers on a given night or throughout the week.

If I was on SoR right now, I’d probably be twiddling my thumbs waiting for something exciting to happen. No wonder they zerg in their armies at any available opportunity. There are probably so many people on that server who are bored in WvW and looking for any action that they sink their teeth into. I mean no disrespect by this post to SoR. I just personally find face-rolling boring and holding onto face-rolled territory to be just as boring.

BTW, is it just me or is TC probably the least talked about server in the top tiers? People love talking about the top tier players (i.e., JQ, SoS, BG), the T1 ambitious servers (i.e. SoR, Kaineng, Mag, FA), and SBI gets a fair amount of discussion due to its collapse and its connection with SoR. But it seems as if TC is invisible on the map of most WvW conversations, though perhaps I am just overlooking them.

It’s all good either way. Just so there is no mistake now or in the future, I like TC, a lot, and I have a ton of respect for you guys and I really do hope you guys are happy as a community(wherever), cause that is all that matters.

Thanks. TC has been a great home server for many of us, and hopefully it will stay that way regardless of where we are in the tiers. As long as we are wherever the fun is, I think we’ll be fine.

There’s plenty of drama and crap on TC just like the other servers and in some instances, probably even worse.

Did I ever say that TC was without its own issues? That’s what I thought. You seem to have completely missed, if not blatantly overlooked, the entire point that sceptus and I made. I would suggest that you review what we wrote.

If that’s the case, you’ll have to love your server in T3 or below. But yes you are right, it will be interesting either way.

I don’t think you understand our server or perhaps you are blinded by your own server’s recent WvW ambitions that you do not necessarily get that what SoR cares about is not what TC cares about. Most on TC generally prefer competition driven by fun over competition driven by ambition. I’m sure there are some who have T1 ambitions, but I think there would be many who would be fine with T3 if it meant more fun. If TC drops tiers, the majority of the population will likely stay regardless due to TC’s vibrant community that exists apart from just WvW alone.

Most people will recommend greatsword. I would even recommend greatsword, but I prefer hammer for it’s defense plus CC. Both are good when fighting crowds. You get better damage on greatsword, and you will also get to press buttons 3-5 more on the greatsword than you will on the hammer. The hammer’s 3-5 skills are frequently more situational and gimmicky. Hammer #5 is particularly bad, in that it seems as just about anything and everyone has a way out of it. While Hammer #4 is good in PvE, the wind-up feels too slow and easily to dodge in PvP.

It’s going to be worse this week, since now SoR will not be holding back. Hopefully, we will also not hear as much this week how sorry SoR feels for TC and SBI, how they completely understand, and how we should therefore aspire for our servers to be just like theirs.

According to your own players, you guys have so much internal strife and conflict about remaining competitive. You’ve had 1 guild just up and leave with countless other original TC players. You have half your player base wanting an organized alliance, the other half wanting to keep TC true to its colors. Your biggest WvW guilds which are carrying your server are getting so much heat they are even thinking of transferring to other servers.

You seem to have a lot of opinions about the state of SoR and the mindset of its players peppered through all your posts in this thread. You should really worry about your own house before you try and help others.

Are we talking about the same Tarnished Coast server? I think you are exaggerating an exaggeration.

But that’s precisely what gives TC its unique server flavor and an almost fanatical loyalty. Someone earlier was right in talking how TC’s eclectic mix of RP, PvE, and WvW in its identity as made it a stable and reputable server.

Despite being on the TC server since the few minutes of launch, I have not been doing WvW until recently. At first I was there for map completion – though I’m still not finished – but I think I’ll be staying in WvW for the fun. I don’t RP, but I wanted to be on the RP server, because they tend to be friendly PvE lore-enthusiasts. I love PvE, but I will definitely be looking at doing a lot more WvW with my future characters. I have been having a blast in WvW with TC. I was even part of the effort that withheld a SoR siege in Shadaran Hills of the SoR Borderlands and then re-captured TC Overlook and the SBI corner in the EB that happened last night. It was a highly reassuring feeling when I harassed the enemy at the gate and made kills with a catapult on the walls of the inner keep for 30 minutes until SoR gathered a group to focus fire me and the catapult. Mission successful.

There is certainly some frustration in TC chat, but it’s been fairly civil. I think most are just thrilled that they are holding up this well against SoR. TC has a lot of PuGs and soloists in WvW doing map completion and jumping puzzles, and some of these are not too thrilled about PvP. But this also tends to mean that TC has a lot of eyes and ears around the map of concerned PuGs/PvE soloists who report out of fear of zergs. And the commanders and guilds definitely appreciate these players. The commanders and guild players are very supportive and instructive with new players or non-guildies who help them out with sieges (whether besieging or being besieged) and other objectives.

It would be a false dichotomy, at least for the asura, to separate their views of the world between the magical and non-magical. The Eternal Alchemy encompasses all things. Technological engineering is as much a magical enterprise as it is a physical scientific one. One could only be a bookah to ignore how magic operates in even the most mundane of magiscientific principles.
