There is only one thing worse then JP campers and that is the people that call out for a large group of people to come and help them clear out the JP of campers. Like we are not busy doing anything else we should send 10 guys over just to help him clear out a JP for him to get some badges/plans.

So people asking for help is worse than people spoiling the fun for others? If someone is busy and cannot or does not want to help out, they won’t. But if someone is asking for help, let them, it’s their own right to do so.

Yeah newcomers should mention it, especially when they are level 80’s. AC is the first dungeon that you can do (at least the first one that you are eligible for, so I expect people to play it. So when I have level 80’s in my party, I do not expect them to be new to the dungeon, but they are there, and there’s a lot of them. So maybe it’s also a good thing to ask if they are new or not. I used to do that, but I am not doing that anymore, so I think it’s my own bad in that case.

But glad to see people do agree on some level with what I said, feels good that I am not the only one.

I was thinking the same, it’s a very simple “fix”, but ofcourse I am used to killing him like we always used to, but these days people simply tend to skip everything they can. And probably it’s just me that should be adjusting, instead of whining about it. But I just wanted to know what everyone else is thinking about all this.

Hello everyone,

Just a few questions regarding people skipping certain parts or even whole bosses in dungeons just to get the end rewards. Is everyone doing it like this? For example, in Ascalonian Catacombs, people skip the middle boss, Kohler, by simply walking around him or by simply avoiding him and just run to the next part. In Citadel of Flame, in Path 1, people skip the “bonus event” on the bridge.

Was it intended like this, and if so, what’s the logic behind it? In these last couple of days I’ve experienced this, even with a guildmate who simply did it like everyone else. I told them that I would fight Kohler alone, and then they came back. They kept dying because obviously they didn’t know how to dodge, it’s their own fault for skipping the boss all the other times I guess. Next time I don’t think I will be so lucky because people will simply kick me if I tell them that I would also like to kill Kohler.

PS. Some people also go in, then pull the boss down and leave the two adds (Elementalist, Monk, Ranger and so on, those two adds) up there and simply kill the boss alone, then go back for the adds. I also think that is no fun and it’s not intended like that. Just because people are not good enough to go up against the boss itself and his two adds doesn’t mean you should play it like this I think.

So, are you skipping parts in dungeons aswell and if so, do you inform everyone of that BEFORE you enter the dungeon? It would be the most decent thing to do in my opinion, to tell people that you would like to skip a boss in order to clear the dungeon faster and to get your rewards. A lot of people seem to forget that there’s players who play for fun and also for the experience itself.

Or am I now just whining too much and thinking too much about this and I just should shut up and simply play it like everyone else does? I personally don’t think so, but I would like to see some opinions about this. Also I would like to ask ArenaNet if they will “fix” these things so that they will become “unskippable” in the future? Or was it really intended like this and I am just wrong about these things?

I got kicked out aswell when we were at the very same part. I was in a full PUG group with 3 players from the same guild and one other random, and there were 2 other necro’s from that same guild. They also wanted to go in one by one, but we failed since they couldn’t even stay alive long enough and then they voted to kick me and the other random person out. After they voted to kick out the other random, I wanted to leave so they would all be booted, but they kicked me also before I could leave.

I’m fine with either strategy, as long as I don’t get kicked for other people’s failing, I truly hate that. Sure, if I would’ve messed up and got a kick for that, fine, I could live with that, although it is never good to kick other players out other than they being AFK for too long.

One thing that baffles me is the fact that people want to skip parts in dungeons, like in CoF path 1 where you have to kill some mobs on a bridge, afterwards those turrets and 2 other mobs and right after that the acolytes “boss”. They simply run past the bridge and past the turrets and then start the acolytes part. I for one run dungeons for the fun, so skipping parts is not the way I would like it, but sometimes I have to PUG if I don’t have enough guild players to run with me.

Then yes, you are in a bad guild, if nobody is willing to help you out. And you must’ve left that guild for a reason it seems, and probably this was the reason. So no, it’s not a fanboy’s response, it’s a response to the fact that you were in a bad guild (looking at it from my perspective, guildmates being helpful, and so on).

But I’ve said what I wanted to say and I’ll move on again now Good luck in your upcoming events and with finding a suitable guild.

Q6600, Nvidia GTX 460, 8 gigs DDR2ram. 8 FPS. Sounds like server side lag…whatever the case is, 8 fps is not playable in any game. Period.

I have less specs, every graphic set to high plus I was recording the entire time using fraps. You either had bad luck with your server or you are doing something wrong yourself. Ofcourse server side lag sucks and I do agree if that was the case, I would have complained also, because the events were just simply a lot of fun. I wasn’t even thinking about any rewards at any given time during this whole event.

So now people have a few hundred more gold than I. And again, I am feeling somewhat slighted and behind everyone else both monetary and in terms of fractal levels. Since the dungeon became availble I’ve been feeling the NEED to log in every day to run at least one fractal a night to just keep up with the coat tails of the people 3,4,5 levels higher. I havent been to Orr, haven’t run any other dungeons, havent played an alt. Nothing. All of my availble time spent in GW2 now is to try to keep up with everyone in fractal levels in fear that I will be left behind… I don’t want to miss my chance at keeping up with everyone and this is just wrong when this is a game that I used to play at my own pace.

Most people already had tons of more gold than I had, even before this event. And? Do you feel others are better because they have more gold? And btw, no, I did not get any items from the chest that I could sell for more than a gold. And if I would’ve gotten Dusk for example, and if I would have managed to sell that for 250 gold, all that gold would’ve gone straight to my guild. I don’t want to get an instant 250 gold for myself. That way, I won’t even have fun anymore in accomplishing everything myself.

In Fractals, I am at level 2, I have only played level 1 so far. I am still loving it. I am not even sure what is going to happen on the next levels. Will only the difficulty of the existing Fractals that I have experienced increase, or will there be total new Fractals? I don’t know and I don’t want to know. But what I do know is, I am in a guild where people not only help out each other, but also play together. Most of my guild is still at level 1 or 2. We’re all playing at our own pace. You DO NOT have to login to only play the Fractals just to keep up with the rest. You only need to do that if you are in the wrong guild, yes.

This entire patch and event just created a fear of being left behind by the masses both interms of gold and fractal levels. I am so disappointed.

So you are afraid because you have less gold than someone else. Why does that fear you, because those other people can get what, some 20 slots bags, some new gear or weapons perhaps or even a legendary. So what? Why does that fear you? Because you want to be the first of your guild to achieve certain things? Having less gold than others doesn’t make you worse and it doesn’t make others better.

You are blaming who, ArenaNet because you were “uninformed”? You were informed enough just like the rest of us. The fact that YOU decided not to participate means that YOU were the one that missed out on stuff by your own doing, not because of anyone else.

So concerning the entire event… I feel/felt very uninformed about the entire thing. From where to start, where to go, what to do, and ultimately the rewards at the end. Had I known that legendary precursors could come from the chest that spawned after the final event, I would have made more of an effort to attend. However, due to lag and confusion I didnt even think twice.

It was pretty obvious to me and my entire guild even, that the event would start somewhere in Lion’s Arch. If you had checked your map before the event even started, you could see some icons on it (they were pretty obvious on the mini map aswell). You could’ve talked to the NPC’s and learned something from them. You could even see two new Points of Interest. So where it would start was pretty obvious from the very beginning.

And it seems to me that the rewards are more important to you than the event itself. You must be having fun in this game if rewards is all you’re caring about. Sure, it’s nice to get some good rewards, but if the event itself isn’t even appealing to you, then don’t complain afterwards. And which lag do you think you are referring to? The lag in the very beginning, okay, I can see that. But that lasted for like what, 15 minutes (at least for everyone in my guild). After that, there was no more lag. Touch luck, but not something to stay away for.

Still, I had to ask in guild chat where to go. They said “find the icon of a ship..” Were they referring to the drawing of a ship in LA or maybe an actual little icon? I had no idea!

And you are blaming ArenaNet for the fact that YOU did not understand what YOUR GUILD told you? Then why didn’t you ask them what they meant with “an icon of a ship”? You’re complaining about your own incompetence, I’m sorry to say, and no offence intended.

In short, I had no idea how or where to participate without soliciting help from my guild and I had no idea what rewards I could have received if I participated in the final event.

First of all, how do you think your guild knew about everything that was going on? They must have had some knowledge about it. For me personally it was all ovbious, because we got in-game mails and we could simply talk to the NPC’s that were in Lion’s Arch and from there it was so ovbious where to go. If it fun if everything is already out there in the open before the event even started? Ask yourself this, how did you learn about traits, about your skills, about anything in this game? You learn by doing it. No difference in any of these events.

And second, about the rewards, do you need to know what you might or might not receive as a reward? Will you participate more / less in dungeons if you know what loot you can expect at the end? You should really ask yourself why you are playing this game and if this even if the right game for you.

I have enjoyed these events, especially the last, One Time Epic Event. Looking back now I feel like this was a great event, and I would like to thank ArenaNet for that.

Phase 1
This was for me personally, and for many with me, a laggy event, which was a shame. At least, in the first couple of minutes. After that, I simply went to another place in the map with less people and the lag was gone for the most. As someone who wants to capture everything from these one time events, even the smallest cutscenes, I loved that I could record these cutscenes aswell and include them in my video. Here is an impression of the Phase 1 Event:

http://www.touchofdarkness.com/videos/view-123-guild-wars-2-the-lost-shores/

Phase 2
A lot less laggy and a lot more fun, and I am glad that we went to the new map and could do some events there, I enjoyed killing those Karka’s and I had fun being there together with my girlfriend and some guildmates. I didn’t upload a video of this yet but I will do that sometime later.

Phase 3
This was the big finale and it was worth it. My girlfriend said it would be in that mountain which was “locked” on saturday, because she could see some Karka’s just sitting there. I told her it’s probably a breeding place for them, which we are going to kill.

Once the event started it was a lot of fun to begin with. I did get downed a few times but I got back up quite fast, and I revived loads of people myself during the whole event. I recorded everything from start to end, 2,5 hours and 180GB of footage, and I am going through that now to upload bits and pieces of it. Not sure if I will ever upload the whole 2,5 hours, but who knows. Here is a video of the ending event, including the last cutscene:

http://www.touchofdarkness.com/videos/view-134-guild-wars-2-ancient-karka/

And here is some more regarding the Lost Shores:

http://www.touchofdarkness.com/videos/category-7-lost-shores/

So, looking back to these last three days, I think it’s safe to say for me personally that I loved this event, and I am hoping there will be more like this. We were at war with those Karka’s, and it truly felt like a war and I am glad I was apart of it. The only lag I experienced was from my own doing, I set everything to “Best Appearance” and I ran my recording program for 2,5 hours. If I wouldn’t have done that, I would probably not have experienced any lags at all, but I love recording everything from these one time events.

Even if I wouldn’t have had the last big chest, I would have loved this event. The whole 2,5 hours felt great, at some points a bit boring but still the joy was a lot more than the boredom. I am not after the loot, although I like it, I still care more about my playing experience rather than some loot. So I am stunned to see so many complain topics about some loot. Is that really the most important thing? If so, I think some people should consider playing another game, if that is all they care about. But ofcourse it’s easy to say for me since I did get my loot.

So I was just wondering as to how many classes actually have stealth or something they can use to get away from the enemy unseen. Lately a LOT of players I am fighting with suddenly disappear and there is no way I can find them again. Even when I immediately go into my death shroud and enable my life transfer skill, I don’t seem to hit anything.

Am I just fighting one and the same class over and over? Or are they just closing their clients or something? It’s just really annoying.

If only you knew you didn’t have to farm for a couple of hours.

And yea, it was a ton of fun doing a scavenger hunt with a friend, all across Tyria.

And isn’t that what it’s all about? Mission accomplished I would say. The only thing most people are annoyed about, is the endless ongoing complaining. If you don’t like it, don’t do it. It’s that simple. One more or less topic about these complaints won’t be making any difference. They would, only if it would be a valid complaint.

Hardist.3104

To be honest I am just posting this because this Halloween Event could you a little bit more love. I’ve been reading a lot of complaint topics and to be honest, and a lot of the reasons people are posting are unfounded.

Monday I had the day off, and I was waiting for the event to go live. Been waiting all day but nothing, and yeah I was disappointed. But so what, should I get mad about that or just have a little more patience? I’m not an immature person, and thus I’ve chosen for the latter, to show some more patience. On tuesday I had to work though, and while a few of my guildies and my girlfriend were playing and enjoying the event, I was being bored at work and reading some of these topics, and I got more and more excited to see some of the stuff.

The costume brawl for one, is something I didn’t expect to love this much. Yesterday I spent around 2-3 hours in Lion’s Arch, simply brawling with a lot of others. Sure, I’ve read about people spoiling the fun by placing a cauldron on a hard to reach place, but you should simply avoid this. I’ve been putting down one or two cauldrons yesterday the whole time and I just enjoyed playing with others, and I got knocked down plenty! Here’s a little impression of that event:

People claiming that this is pay to win, are dead wrong. Sure, it costs you about 7 in-game gold to get the gems needed to buy a costume (which is way more fun anyway) but that shouldn’t be hard at all to achieve. If you are saying that 7 gold is a lot, you are sadly mistaken. You shouldn’t get anything just for free and things shouldn’t be too easy to get. Where would all the fun be if everyone would be running around in these outfits? I am glad that we are just a small group right now who has these costumes, otherwise it would basically be worthless to me. Doing one path of the Ascalonian Catacombs for example gives you about 50 silver already, and each path takes you about 20 minutes with a good group. At least that’s how things are in our guild.

Here’s two screenshots of the Costume Brawl:

http://74.86.249.223/~touchofd/uploads/images/todimg_-1351059163-U1.jpg
http://74.86.249.223/~touchofd/uploads/images/todimg_-1351059181-U1.jpg

I literally was having fun the whole time for these 2 – 3 hours I was playing brawl, and I am guessing tonight will be no different. I would advise anyone to join in the fun now while you can, before it’s over. Right now there are lots of people playing this event which means it’s a lot more fun for everyone. Don’t miss out on all the fun and regret it later. I never used to like events like this in other MMO’s, honestly. But this one, I am loving so far, and I haven’t even tasted half of the fun which is out there yet.

Thank you ArenaNet for this wonderful game and wonderful event!

Right now we are slowly getting into form. We are gaining new members on a daily basis, and we are getting to know each other more and more aswell, and since we’re a social guild, this aspect will help us a lot once we start running dungeons on a daily basis for example. We’re starting up events on a weekly basis for now, to take things slow, but we wish to explore every route of the dungeons and getting to know the mechanics ourselfs, rather than using any type of guides. If you want fast marks and all of that, we’re not the guild for you, but if you like exploring and learning as much as you can by yourself and with guild mates, then we are the guild for you. Ofcourse once everyone has done the dungeons, and people start to learn how it works, and once the teamwork get’s better, we will be able to run dungeons on a much faster tempo.

We have 25 members right now, and most of them are from Finland and Sweden actually. We have members from the following countries:

- Israel
- Hungary
- Finland
- The Netherlands
- Sweden
- Romania
- United Kingdom
- Norway
- United States
- France
- Denmark

So we have a big variety of countries and languages in the guild. Ofcourse the main language is English, but that doesn’t mean that people can use private chats for their own language.

Anyway, we’re still looking for members to fill up the guild. Our aim will not be to be a big guild with 100+ members right now, we’re aiming for approximately 50 members. Once we hit that milestone, we will only be accepting new members through our forums, and then ofcourse it will all depend on yourself wether you will make it into the guild or not.

We encourage you to, if you are still looking for a guild, look us up and see for yourself if we are the guild for you. We are aiming to do all aspects, PvE, PvP, WvW and so on. And we’re always open to new ideas.

We’re playing on Underworld. Our main contacts are:

- Veninum Lapidum
- Sanguinem Deus

About our Guild - General Guild Information - Recruitment Policy

Server: Underworld
Location: Europe
Style: PvE / WvW
Requirements: Click

We are a Guild Wars 2 Gaming Guild, founded on the 18th of May of 2012 by Judit and Ron (Veni and Hardist). We are a friendly, social, mature, helpful and active guild, currently 50 members strong. If you wish to know more about us, then you can find all information you need in this post.

What is the “Touch of Darkness” exactly?
We are a Guild Wars 2 Guild, consisting of around 50 members at this time. Since nobody can play everyday, we have around 10 – 15 members online during the evenings (19:00 CET – 22:00 CET). We do not like overkill, so having more than 20 people online during the evenings is a bit too much for us, but we are still looking to expand our guild to at least 75 members.

We play mostly PvE, Dungeons, and World vs World together. We level together, group up to go through some dungeons and simply join a zerg in WvW or have some fun of our own. This is what we are playing mostly. sPvP is not something we are currently active in, but anything is possible, and if you wish to set up your own sPvP Team within our guild, that is no issue at all, since there are people interested in it, but nobody is currently interested in leading or forming a team in it.

What can The Touch of Darkness offer you?
As with most guilds, we promise a lot of things. But unlike other guilds, we keep those promises. We are friendly, mature, active, social, helpful and above all, respectful to each and every of our members. Also, we do not recruit the character, we recruit the player behind the character. I also know this is a much heard phrase, but we actually do care about all our members. After we recruit you, we have a private chat with you, explaining what we’re all about, telling you what we expect from our members and we will check if we all have the same mindset and goals. We always keep in touch with you, we will never make you feel lonely or bored in our guild. And guaranteed, our guild is drama free.

What are we looking for?
We are looking for like minded players to form a “family-like” guild. We want everyone to know everyone, so we expect our people to mingle in the guild chat every now and then, and interact with others, in-game and outside of the game, on our forums. We feel a game is much more enjoyable when you are playing together with friends, so in this guild, you truly are not a number, but we do care. Our motto is: Quality, not quantity.

Anything else?
I have explained the basics which there are to know about our guild.
