Actually the stats from infusions do add up to significant numbers. With ascended armor, you can now cap at +70 stats from infusions alone. Just in terms of Vitality, that’s 700 HP, which is 6.5% of thief/guardian/elementalist HP. I’m concerned about how much more we’re going to get and the possibility that it will be endless, like AR.
It seems to be a not-so-subtle way of sidestepping the gear treadmill with a different one.
I’m talking about actual stats, like power, precision, etc. Edited post to reflect that.
Unfortunately I have lost nearly all interest in FotM with the addition of the infinite infusion treadmill. The sad part is I really enjoy doing Fractals. For the most part, it’s really well-designed and balanced.
However, agony shouldn’t even exist. It’s a cheap way to gate content and provide yet another treadmill. With endless infusions, it’s literally infinite.
This morning, I crafted a +5 Power stat infusion for quite a bit of gold. Immediately after, someone linked a datamined +7 Power stat infusion. I realize that datamined info isn’t always accurate, but this seems like another upcoming addition to the infusion treadmill. This time, instead of agony resistance, we get more stats to work for. I was already tempted to give up on higher levels of FotM and just purchase the WvW +5 stat infusions, but after seeing this, I just sighed. Yes, I like to min/max, but I thought it wouldn’t be endless in GW2, especially for someone with alts. For those with alts, we already have an insane amount of min/maxing to do, not including endless infusions.

Seems to be fine again. Just a hiccup I guess!
Login server down. Couldn’t change maps, and now can’t log in. Not sure if this is due to upcoming patch or not?
It’s Bolt’s aura, stacked with Eternity.
Check this out; we get a bonus animation when using greatsword #1 skill with the new Toxic Mantle skin equipped. Unfortunately, this new animation does not instantly kill us, as it visually suggests. =\
I appreciate that mantras are being given more attention. Even with more changes upcoming, I still feel that they’re lackluster. In addition to a CD, you have to take the time to cast to recharge the spell as well. That’s not fun. Also, there are 5 traits that affect mantras, spanning 3 different trait lines. 2 of those 5 traits are grandmaster level in 2 different lines. It’s sprawling.
At the moment, Restorative Mantras is negatively affected by Harmonious Mantras. This is because Restorative Mantras only activates at the end of the recharge cast of a mantra. So if you have both Restorative Mantras and Harmonious Mantras, you’ll see less activation of Restorative Mantras. I suggest allowing Restorative Mantras to activate when using a mantra, rather than at the end of the recharge cast.
Unfortunately, the crafting forum hasn’t received a dev response since about a year ago, when someone posted in the precursor thread. Some community feedback would go a long way here, even if every thread can’t be addressed.
My Mesmer just made Kraitkin. Definitely hope this gets fixed.
Opened on Jade Quarry (NA) about 10 minutes ago.
Extend the timer or remove it. With overflows being what they are, there’s no chance to do this for a lot of people, unless you camp Sparkfly. I believe the damage and difficulty of Teq’s abilities are fine; people just need to invest in something other than Berserker gear or learn to dodge and jump. In the event’s present state, I already have no remaining interest.
Yes, there is still more work to be done with Eternity. Please add the missing skill animations and make this right, so this thing can be put to bed.
On a side note, the transition effect from day to night or night to day is still at least partially bugged; while making the video it wouldn’t change at dusk until I zoned.
The bottom line is that it’s now different than Sunrise/Twilight, but not necessarily better. Now it’s like 1 + 1 = 1.2 or 0.8, depending on your level of enthusiasm. It took them over a year to change it just to this version from being utterly broken before. Now that it’s noticeably “unique” I wouldn’t hold my breath for another year. I wish Eternity worked with these fancy new transmutation splitters to return Sunrise and Twilight, but they don’t.
So Eternity was finally fixed, and it’s now unique. Even now I don’t believe it has the combined value of Sunrise and Twilight. Can anyone confirm that the footsteps show the same celestial window as Twilight’s, though slightly modified with the swirling stars and moons/planets?
The nighttime version of the weapon seems fairly consistent with the dark feel, but the daytime version just feels disjointed, with the light and dark mixed, especially with the dark body aura and the dark footfalls. The daytime body aura should be lighter and the footsteps should show Sunrise’s window to the sky.
Here’s a link to an updated video of Eternity:
I miss the Sunrise footsteps as well. I have to do some more checking/comparing, but I’m 90% sure that the footstep window shows the same Twilight vista.
Some noticeable changes:
- Glowing/radiating pommel – whitish at day, purplish at night.
- When wielded – purplish/blackish smoky aura surrounding the body at both day and night. This is accompanied by stars and planets/moons that emanate upwards from the body and dissolve.
- Footsteps – the footsteps appear to reveal the same window to a celestial vista as Twilight’s footsteps. Now, stars and planets/moons swirl gently around the footsteps.
Eternity combat animations have not changed for Mesmers.
0:00 – Daytime/Sunrise version.
2:34 – Nighttime/Twilight version.
3:47 – Brief combat demonstration.

These are still a steal on the TP right now. Get them while you can.
If Eternity goes unchanged once again after a year and this announcement of graphical/feature changes i WILL salvage my Eternity and post a video here doing it. It’s been long enough having a legendary made from 2 combined that has a product of a lesser legendary.
It’s funny you say that. After being disenchanted about the dud that was Eternity and getting into some alts a long time ago, I was musing about doing the same thing. I figure if it’s going to be done, one must use a Crude Salvage Kit, just to properly enhance the whole effect. I would hope that some Ectos would be gained, but you never know.
“Legendary Weapon Updates
Legendary weapons are getting a stat boost and an Offensive Infusion slot to align with the new Ascended weapons! Legendaries are also receiving additional functionality: When out of combat, Legendary weapon bearers will be able to choose between different stat combinations for your weapon. And to top it all off, many Legendaries are getting some aesthetic upgrades!"
That’s from the new upcoming release info. Hopefully Eternity gets some well-deserved love!
So, one year goes by and Eternity is still worse than Sunrise or Twilight, the two legendaries required to craft it. It would be nice to see some dev feedback to some of the post in the crafting forum. For whatever reason, the crafting forum is completely ignored, or at least appears to be.
I foresee the new legendaries arriving, without addressing the common issues or suggestions about the original ones. Striving to create these items is what keeps a lot of the player base active, as they act as a long term goal. You would think that fixing them would be a priority.

And….Eternity is still being neglected. No love for the legendary that is the most difficult to obtain. Still holding out a glimmer of hope, 8+ months after making it.
There’s a first world problem joke in here somewhere.
Right, just like every thread with a complaint on a MMO forum.
Confirmed no changes after yet another content update.
Couldn’t agree more with OP. It was moderately annoying before, but now with 10 required captures, it’s one of the final objectives of my daily. I have to force myself not to actually defend a point, instead I run around mindlessly capturing, sometimes with 4-5 people. How about a defend objective or dropping capture as a daily objective?
Where is Gaile Gray when you need her?
I’m not even sure this forum has dev presence any more. We have been very patient. New content and BLTC goodies are nice, but can we get some polish on the existing game? Eternity is the flagship legendary. It’s been around since mid-October, and it’s still inferior to either of its two halves. I don’t understand why an in-game advertisement like Eternity would be neglected for so long. Each patch comes and goes, and we log in with no changes. The same can be said for various other mediocre legendaries as well.
I’m not sure if most people would prefer a totally different appearance, or some really cool, unique blending of both Sunrise and Twilight. It does seem like it should draw upon both sets of visuals and animations, unless it was made to be so amazingly unique and different that nobody minded.
I started a thread about this awhile back. One of many I’m sure:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Guild-UI-Improvements/first#post1690233
I like the looks of my Eternity, and the missing footprints makes it visible for others that it’s eternity and not twilight or sunrise.
True, but by that token, why not take it a step further and remove the blade as well? Just leave the hilt. Then it would truly be unique and magnificent, much like the Emperor’s new clothes.
Seems to be fixed for me.
It’s not a matter of thinking anyone is an idiot. Eternity at present is clearly a placeholder for some future redesign. I have to believe this. I’m just bothered by the fact that we are currently even capable of forging it, when it’s inferior to its two halves.
With more people obtaining legendaries, the time has come for Eternity to be redesigned and improved. Why leave the hallmark legendary in an unfinished state?
Yes, I am on Jade Quarry.
I logged out to character select screen, and when I tried to enter on another character, I got a Network Error message. The error was too quick to copy exactly, before the game quits to the login screen. I’m able to log in fine, but when I try to enter the game on a character, I get the same Network Error message. Any thoughts?
Didn’t affect me. Had 106 or so when I purchased the cat tonic.
Any NA server open? Thanks!
I’m kinda disappointed that it only has one actual domestic kitty, when there’s 5+ skins in game; ;. They baby tiger an such are cute an unexpected~
Can we get a suggestions thread started up so that they add all the ones they left out to the tonic? (It is worth 100 laurels . . ) If you’ve ever beeen to the cat room you can see all the ones they left out >~<
Where is this cat room??
No one has gotten the fluffy puppy mini yet? :<
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Monthly-pvp-laurels/first#post1732589
There have been a total of 13 “bonus” laurels. Two from post-patch, pre-reset dailies, one from the pvp daily of this recent content patch day, and ten from the March post-patch pvp monthly. This brings the possible grand total as of this moment to 106 laurels, prior to tonight’s reset. The only one I missed was the pvp daily bonus laurel, during this last patch day.
I tried using a Crude Salvage Kit on the tonic to see if I could salvage it, but it didn’t work. =\
Simply destroying it just seems wasteful.
With all of this confusion, I’m trying to figure out what the current max total is for laurels. I’m sitting at 91 (92 tonight after reset) right now. This is including the 2 patch day bonus daily laurels from previous patches, as well as the 10 monthly bonus laurels from doing the PvP daily this month after the patch. I have not missed a daily or monthly yet. Does anyone know if this is the current max total? Your post seems to help confirm this.
I think you missed one. That’s the same number I have (well, 31 and 2 amulets) and I missed the daily pvp bonus one on patch day this month but have gotten all of daily and monthly ones.
Ok thanks. =) So if there was one bonus pvp patch day laurel, that should mean that the absolute cap is now 93 (With tonight’s reset.)
I think this has been fixed now, but it is pretty lame that people who had already completed the PvP monthly didn’t get a chance at these 10 laurels.
If you managed to squeeze in the PvP monthly before this got fixed – grats. If you didn’t do the PvP monthly when you had the chance, even though you might not have known that it would’ve netted you 10 additional laurels, then consider it an opportunity missed. If you already had the PvP monthly done and didn’t even get the chance at these 10 laurels, then you’re just SOL.
It hasn’t been “fixed” nor will it be. It’s similar to what we saw in January and February.
January: The daily was changed (laurels added). If you did the daily before the patch, then you could do the daily again after the patch and get a laurel for that day only (and a second jug of karma and mystic coin).
February: The daily was changed (rotation added). If you did the daily before the patch, it reset with the patch due to the change and you could do it again after, allowing you to get 2 laurels, jugs of karma, and mystic coins for that day only.
March: PvP daily/monthly changed to allow you to get laurels from either the PvP or the PvE daily/monthly, but not both. Tracking system is added with the update. Therefore, if you did the PvE daily, but not the PvP daily before the update, you were able to do the PvP daily to get a second laurel. Similarly, if you did the PvE monthly before the update but not the PvP monthly, then you are able to do the PvP monthly and get 10 laurels.
This will almost definitely not be “fixed” but rather is only something that happened on the 26th for the daily and in March for the monthly. In April you will only be able to get 10 laurels either from the PvE or the PvP monthly.
At this point, I would just be happy if they let us revert Eternity back into Sunrise and Twilight. Here’s hoping for something in the April content patch.
Pretty much what Celtic Lady said…
No one can truly speak for anyone else either. We can only speak for ourselves as to what we enjoy or don’t enjoy – or make suggestions on what we would like to see/fix to enhance our enjoyment. Or what in this game turns us off and hopefully offer suggestions or possible solutions. None of us can truly make general statements regarding what the general population wants.
Personally I don’t see content like the living story (temporary or no) as a turnoff nor would it ever deter me from playing. There is so much here to offer so many different types of tastes I would hope others would see the things they want to get out of this game and want to play it. I tend to ride the flow and enjoy the ride, even with its ups and downs and any glitches.
Catching up has never ever occurred to me and what person(s) would I even care that I was catching up to? I achieve to my own standard and am quite pleased with the limits I have stretched for myself, not what others have done or will do. I think the game is designed for the player to please themselves in what they have striven to achieve.
I should have attached a disclaimer, warning that this thread is meant for achievement aficionados. There are plenty of us. Anyone could step into any number of threads and say “I don’t care about this.” Then, magically, nothing would be added to the discussion. The spirit of this thread is about keeping fair, proper, and friendly competitiveness in place for achievements; ANet took a big step in this regard today.
The problem with the daily/monthly counting is that eventually, that’s all that will matter. Just doing the daily (9), PvP daily (4), monthly (40) and PvP monthly (7) is worth 5309 points a year. A player that starts the game late will have a very hard time catching up and even if they 100% the game and do every achievement available, they might not catch up to someone who has done 0% of the game, but has always completed the dailies.
It doesn’t really matter though since certain things like the living story give achievements but won’t be around forever. Content like this, especially when you’re made aware of it, can be a turn off to new players, especially completionists.
Exactly.
Let’s hope so! I had 290 legitimate (Salvaged only what I looted) points. They were reduced to 250 after patch. =D I did lose the points from my grand total as well.
Thank you ANet for removing all points beyond 250 for the item salvage loop. This is one step towards restoring my faith in the achievement point system for this game.
Next, please remove all points gained from dailies/monthlies, retroactively as well! ;-)
Nice suggestion DarkSword. Added that to the list. ^ ^
I’ve tried using the search feature for this topic, with little success. So here are a few suggestions that have probably been discussed. Before I start, I should say that I’m the leader of a medium-large sized guild.
Message of the Day:
There in an undefined limit to the amount of text that can fit into this window. Also, rearranging some of the text will allow it to fit better or worse, with no change in character amount. It’s extremely difficult to edit the guild message. After finalizing the message, I often check the guild history and see sometimes 10+ edits, since it feels so arbitrary.
I think some simple refinement for this would be great. Display remaining character limit and remove the clunky text-chopping.
Last-online feature:
We currently have a system in place where once per month, we flag all offline members as Inactive. As they appear online, we flag them as Members again. At the end of the month we remove all remaining Inactive members. It’s a painstaking system that is essential for keeping our active numbers accurate. Also, most people know that pulling up the guild window with a larger guild is a major lag-inducing nightmare.
A simple solution for this would be to add a “Last-Online” column in the guild roster. I think most other games have this feature, as it’s critical for maintaining a healthy guild.
Percentage represented feature:
As with many guilds, we are a jealous lot. The ability to be a part of up to 5 different guilds has some advantages I guess, but for guild leadership, it’s currently another roster management headache. It looks bad when you have a large percentage of members not representing. Members rep and unrep at different times, and for various reasons, all of which is fine. For the leadership of a guild, keeping track of those who rep often vs. those who don’t rep very much, if any, is a pain. We send out reminders, but sometimes this drives people away.
A solution for this would be the addition of another column in the guild roster. “Percentage Represented.” This value would show the percentage of time that this account represents your guild while they’re online. For example: “Oh this person reps us 15% of the time; they may not be a fit for us.”
Location column-server color
At the moment, for guild member location, you cannot differentiate between a guested server and an actual server. This creates a minor hassle when leadership tries to keep off-server numbers in check.
A simple color change would be a great solution for this. Color guested servers purple in this column, and actual servers could remain orange.
Name column-character names for offline
It can be frustrating at times when you know certain guild members by their character names, but not necessarily their account names. Then they go offline, and you may have a hard time trying to figure out who they were.
A fix for this would be to implement a mouseover feature that shows character names when hovering over guild members in the roster. Alternatively, a pop-up window showing more detailed information, including character names, levels, crafts, etc.
Active guild mission display
It’s difficult to access the information for current guild missions. At the moment, we have to open the guild window, go to the upgrade tab, then go to the mission tab, just to view the relevant info. This is very cumbersome.
Maybe we could have an active guild mission pop-up on the main display for everyone in guild, in the same place that events and storyline show. There you could see a list of bounties, etc. Perhaps show a clickable link to the page with more detailed info, same as with storyline and dailies.
