People using MF gear can be a hindrance to a party if the player isn’t very skilled. PUGing always come with dangers – but I find the most dangerous thing is a glass cannon stat allocation combined with berserker gear. Great for damage, but if a dungeon Vet sneezes on you, you’re gonna have a bad time.
Personally, I run with a mixed stat set for dungeons. I have about 15% MF without consumables, and spread the rest through a mix of toughness, power, and crit chance. I pretty much remove my +crit% in favor for MF%. I play a very mobile ranger as well, and know the mechanics of combat pretty well, so more often than not I am carrying a team of PUGs, or even my friends.
The truth of the matter is that even glass cannon builds can be possible in the hands of a highly skilled players who know exactly what to do. It all boils down to the player skill and their knowledge of the challenge at hand.
My personal approach to stats and skills are based around utility and an even spread. Min-maxing has it’s potential, but I’ve come to the conclusion that I am no help to my team lying dead on the ground, and team-play is more important than personal output, so as long as I can be up helping my team, I am valuable.
The fact is: MF gear is a hindrance any way you look at it. Sure there are varying degrees of hindrance, but you’re still substituting meaningful combat stats for greed.
Dive Master: The Metrica Province Diving Goggles are still missing from the Loch Jezt location.
Legendary Collector: Sunrise and Twilight do not give credit for Legendary items collected. However Eternity does give credit for one. I am unsure if the other Legendary items are not giving credit.

The Legendary Eternity is still incomplete. The stats have been upgraded, yet there are still no footsteps. Also, even with footsteps, there is no point in making the item, since with Sunrise and Twilight, you can swap those at any time to get the effect that Eternity produces twice per day. I have to believe that some sort of on/off toggle was supposed to be implemented to make it worthwhile, but it is not currently functional. Clearly bugged.
Update: the reduced build time activation just took effect, and the 1000 influence by the guild mate just appeared on our history feed, and the 1000 karma was deposited into our total. I’m not sure if an employee took care of this, or if there was just a huge delay.

In an hour or 2 my 7 day wait is over, after transferring to another server for an uncontested Temple of Balthazar. I had around 14 hours remaining until the Nov. 1st update increased my total time to 7 days, completely contrary to the official post regarding the change. Anyone who had an existing cooldown was given a 7 day total wait time.
So my waiting period will expire, and I will still be unable to transfer back to my home server, because it is perpetually full. I would never have transferred had I known that the official post was erroneous:
“AFTER the update, players will be able to transfer worlds once every 7 days instead of once every 24 hours.”
You would think at least a temporary fix, such placing the Obsidian Shards at another vendor, would eliminate 3/4 of the threads regarding this event chain. You know, the Balthazar threads that have been piling up since early September.
What kind of a joke is it when you are so desperate to finish the Legendary you’ve spent hundreds of hours making, that you switch servers, make the Legendary, and then are unable to show your guildies, friends, or server (Without workarounds) for over a week?

The only way that could be done is if his Asura also had Sunrise, forged Eternity, then gave Eternity to the Norn.
You need to have Sunrise and Twilight on one character if they are soulbound.
^ This. I have Eternity, and I’m also patiently waiting for the weapon’s effects to be completed. Your case highlights a reason why Legendaries should be account-bound-on-use, rather than soulbound-on-use. Another reason: except for either-hand weapons, how many people would actually go through the process of making multiple copies of one Legendary? For such a huge amount of work, they should be shared across all of your characters if desired.
This is still missing immediately after the new build/reset tonight.
Again, you are correct. Awhile back I tried this at the dummies in Lion’s Arch. I summon them one at a time, changing dyes before summoning the next. I have not changed armor appearances between summonings, but I suspect that may also work.
Also missing on Sea of Sorrows.
According to the Hints page, I have all hints completed. However, under the Hint Completion achievement on the Hero page of the Achievements list, it shows 80/82 hints completed. I would really like to finish this achievement, but I think it may be bugged. Also shown is the broken Lifetime Survivor achievement, directly above. Anyone else have this issue?
He probably started recording minutes before he expected the in game day/night cycle to change and then just showed us specifically 40 seconds before night=>day and 40 seconds after. Granted, the sky is quite bright during the transition but I’m sure this is how the video was done.
You’re exactly right. There’s a bit of a wait before Eternity makes its transition.

After transferring yesterday morning, prior to the update, I was given the standard 24 hour waiting period. Yet this morning, after the update, my wait time was increased to 7 days. I would never have transferred had I known this.
Direct quote from the News and Announcements thread: “After the update, players will be able to transfer worlds once every 7 days instead of once every 24 hours.”
For those of us that transferred yesterday to circumvent this horrible system to obtain Obsidian Shards, we’re all stuck on foreign servers for a week. From my submitted ticket: “I’m afraid though that we don’t have any way to actually by-pass the cooldown period on transfers. This does appear to have affected all transfers retro-actively so you would actually need to remain on your current realm until the cooldown is up.”
It’s a shame this whole issue wasn’t addressed a long time ago.

This afternoon’s failure on Jade Quarry was of course due to the priest being overtuned for joyous one-shot mass murder, but also because many people refuse to grasp the concept of running back when they die (And we all know half the people are dead within seconds of the fight anyway). We had some people focusing the abomination instead of the acolytes and priest as well. So it seems like the usual culprits. In what ways did you fail Balthazar today? Please share your wonderful adventures in rageworthy failure!

Hours spent failing at an event that for whatever reason, has not been tweaked. This is unacceptable. People have been complaining of the bugs and difficulty since early September.
Some problems with this event chain other than any bugs that may still exist:
-This event is in a zone that nobody really spends any time in, so it is difficult to recruit people with map chat.
-Other than for Obsidian Shards for legendaries, there is no real reason to go through the trouble of doing this event. The gear stats/appearances can be found at other temples or dungeons.
-The pact escort is extremely difficult without a huge number of people. Massive amounts of mobs with veterans appear every couple steps, with respawns behind, because it is so slow and painstaking. Their health depletes too quickly and never recharges. This step alone is very rough to get through.
-The priest. Clearly the worst part of the chain. Again, you need a huge number of people for this. The priest can port to your location and one-shot you, puts AoE circles on the ground that will nearly instantly one-shot you, fears you into these circles, summons veterans that buff and heal? him, and summons a champion abomination, which in itself is an event. At any given time during this event, 50% or more of people are dead, with only a few that “survived” in rally state. Also, there is only a 10 minute timer to kill the priest.
-The nearest waypoint from the boss fight is far away, with a run through the normal, extremely annoying undead mobs of Orr. Many of the people invited to these desperate zerg attempts don’t understand the concept that they will not be rezzed, and that they need to run back.
-The temple defense event is almost never done. I have tried this with a few people, and it was very difficult. There is too little time to properly recruit for it, and the pact loses their morale very easily.
-This event is so bad that people actually leave their servers for the sole purpose of finding unbugged or uncontested Balthazar temples.
I’m hoping that they add some sort of temporary fix soon at the very least, since the problems continue to persist. Add the Obsidian Shards to another karma vendor at a different location maybe, or put a dungeon at the temple, so people would be willing to endure the misery to keep the dungeon available. No other event in this game is as frustrating as this.

I seriously hope this new ultra-zoom out thing stays. Happened after doing the mad king boss fight. I LOVE IT.
Yeah that doesn’t seem very appealing. Why leave a server that has the best rolling bonuses and easy access to every jumping puzzle?
The problem with longer transfer times is that WvW is supposed to be a very dynamic, self-balancing system. This would lead to one server absolutely dominating for much longer periods with no hope for change. With some kind of incentive system to join less dominating servers, WvW matches would auto-balance themselves.
It absolutely affects me personally. It also affects absolutely blown-away one-sided WvW matches.
You were probably typing to my original post when I replied, but I think enabling some incentive system for transferring to less dominant servers some time before enabling paid server transfers would help balance populations. Then going forward, would keep matches more balanced and fun.
So incentives first, then enable paid transfers.
I transferred to Eredon Terrace on the 13th for an unbugged Temple of Balthazar. This was to obtain the remaining shards necessary to finish Sunrise. After successfully completing the event on the 14th, I made the greatsword and prepared to return home to Jade Quarry (My home server since launch).
When the 24 hour wait expired, I tried to return to Jade Quarry, but it was locked due to “Full” status. Since then I’ve been checking the server list multiple times per day, and it has never once dipped below “Full.” I confirmed with my guild, and it does appear that there are a huge number of transfers to Jade Quarry this week, probably due to taking the #1 WvW spot last week. The same thing appears to be happening to Isle of Janthir, which is dominating 4-6 this week.
I tried to submit a ticket, but ANet will not transfer anyone to servers showing “Full.” I guess I don’t understand the WvW bandwagon thing. Why flock en masse to a server that is dominating? We’ve had some weeks recently where at times, we have owned every single contestable point in all maps. That’s not fun pvp.
If paid server transfers were activated, a lot of this flip-flopping would stop. Either that or give incentives to join less dominant servers. Until then, I’ll keep checking Jade Quarry server status at all hours of the day, so I can eventually return home.
