New content patch and no fixes or improvements for Eternity.

I sincerely hope they improve and finalize all of the current legendaries before adding more. Part of the allure is knowing that you’re working towards a great finished product.
My Master of Overkill and Gold Hoarder achievements are also 1 short now…
There is no denying the popularity of Twilight and Sunrise as legendary weapons. Many people have made these or are working towards crafting them. A great many of those people have the ultimate goal of crafting Eternity, and a number of people have reached that point.
The recent patch had some fantastic changes for many legendaries. I was very happy to see this. However, Eternity’s one fix involved the night body aura, a very subtle change. This did very, very little to improve the joke that is Eternity.
The negatives of having Eternity:
-While in possession of Twilight and Sunrise, they can be swapped out at any time for the desired appearance. Eternity is limited to changing appearances twice per day, once at dawn, and once at dusk.
-While instanced with no changing day/night cycles, Eternity remains as either Twilight or Sunrise, with no changing appearances.
-There are no Twilight or Sunrise footprints while Eternity is equipped.
Basically, there is no incentive to create Eternity at present. What should be an amazing reward for many hundreds of hours of effort, is instead a bitter disappointment. I am one of the people who made the mistake of combining Twilight and Sunrise. Every time someone asks about Eternity, it’s always “Have they fixed it yet?”
Some suggestions:
-A toggle of some sort to swap Twilight and Sunrise appearances at any time.
-Improved, unique, or exaggerated day and night characteristics for Eternity.
-Footprints. I really miss those.
My hope is that Eternity will soon get the attention it deserves. Nearly four months after creation, and I’m still holding my breath.
I can definitely confirm that Eternity has not changed in any meaningful way. The removal of Sunrise’s body aura during night was a very minor thing. I’m glad some of the other legendaries were improved. Maybe one day there will be incentive to combine Twilight and Sunrise.
At present:
-No footprints for Eternity. Twilight and Sunrise both have these.
-Eternity changes appearances twice per day. Sunrise and Twilight can be swapped at any time.
I consider the missing footprints to be a bug. The other issue relates to the fact that there is no real benefit to the forging of Eternity. At its current state it is a penalty, not a reward.
Thanks a lot! I was hoping it had Soldier trinkets, and it did.
This sounds vaguely familiar for some strange reason… Here we go again! Anyone mind posting if you have an uncontested Temple of Grenth on your server? Thanks a lot!
I can definitely confirm that Eternity has not changed. I’m glad some of the other legendaries were improved. Maybe one day there will be a point to combining Twilight and Sunrise. At present:
-No footsteps for Eternity.
-Eternity changes twice per day. Sunrise and Twilight can be swapped at any time.
I consider the missing footsteps to be a bug. The other issue relates to the fact that there is no benefit to the forging of Eternity.
I have had this trouble in the past infrequently, but lately I can rarely whisper several people before I am unable to whisper at all. Typing someone’s name and right-clicking to sent whispers does not show any change in the text field.
Sometime later, everything rubberbands back, and I suddenly whisper several people, and have partial messages completed to someone. I tried searching for a similar topic, and was surprised that nothing really popped up.
There is someone on my contact list with 6997 achievement points at the moment. I refused to play the infinite salvage loop game, so I’m glad his points will be reduced. My wish is that all points awarded from this loop are eradicated. We calculated the other day that he has easily salvaged over 200,000 items to get to that point.
I refuse to do condition builds because there is no Condition Damage/Toughness/Vitality set. Would be nice if there was a Precision/Toughness/Vitality set as well. I’d be more inclined to use the “* on crit” sigils.
People are being patient. But this will be two and a half months to get a fix for something as simple as a group member disconnecting. Something that happens with great frequency.
I’m happy that they’re addressing a couple of the issues, but wow, waiting up to nearly a month and a half for them? O.o
Fearing unsuspecting costume brawlers off of the edge of Rata Sum is the best holiday gift one could wish for! Thank you ArenaNet!
For comparison:
Snaff’s Gyre (Ascended)
50 Power
50 Precision
10% Magic Find
18 Precision
18 Power
————————————————————————————————————-
Opal Orichalcum Ring of the Explorer (Exotic)
48 Power
48 Precision
3% Magic Find
4% Magic Find
15 Precision
15 Power
Yakkington’s Ring and its counterpart, Snaff’s Gyre, are both correct in their stat representation at least. The 10% MF = 2 × 5%, one 5% for top core stats and one 5% for the bottom stats. The MF is obviously the top stat, which is why Power and Precision have the traditional secondary stat values.
Again, as a fair warning to everyone, for now Marriner’s Compass and Circle of Light are slightly worse than Masterwork (Green) quality rings with Ascended upgrades. All of the other Ascended rings are correct.
(edited by Hearte.6852)
Marriner’s Compass’ counterpart, Circle of Light, also has the same incorrect core stats.
The puzzle can be accessed by speaking to a NPC named Festive Youth on the Northwest side of the Mystic Forge in Lion’s Arch.
Yeah, definitely going to purchase another copy of GW2 today. Wintersday is the perfect welcoming intro for my daughter. She’s also digging the Bell Choir Ensemble.
Right on Fay! I think the difficulty was balanced perfectly this time around. And the scenery blows away anything else. Awesome pic by the way!
Here is one path of the jumping puzzle. For those having trouble, hopefully this helps! I am completely blown away by the creative minds of the Guild Wars 2 team. Thanks for an amazing experience so far. I showed my daughter this video, and now she wants to play! Happy Holidays!
I can’t make a video, but I made this graphic on how to roll out of the bubble every time. Obviously, this isn’t to perfect proportions:
Lies, this diagram clearly illustrates the fertilization of eggs!
Why should “Reckless Dodge” allow you to exit the bubble when the trait is just supposed to add some damage at end of roll?
That.
Em, okay. So how are you supposed to get out of that when he uses it 4 times in a row? Because my skillset won’t allow me to survive that much focus.
Bowl of Orrian Truffle and Meat Stew
Energetic WvW Faster Endurance Gain bonus
Any Endurance boosting/Vigor profession traits and skills
Nice run, and ye, hylarious is timed as a 5 manned fight. Talking about unbalance.. ah wait, maybe Robert Hrouda is gonna post soon how amazing you are and not about balance every class to do the same ( or underpower those curious classes).
Have you actually tried doing any of these bosses solo? I still hear about how weak Mesmers are in PvE, which is laughable to me. We are able to amazing things. And Robert is right, every class can dodge. That’s a huge part of soloing most of these fights.
Here are some Rare and Masterwork quality comparisons as well:
Shaman Ring of the Explorer (Rare)
59 Vitality
42 Healing Power
42 Condition Damage
3% Magic Find
14 Precision
14 Power
—————————————————————————
Sapphire Mithril Ring of the Cleric (Masterwork)
39 Power
39 Toughness
55 Healing Power
18 Healing
12 Power
12 Toughness
You can see from all of these rings that there is a clearly defined pattern for stat totals. The top stats from the Rare ring total 143 points. The top stats from the Masterwork ring total 133, one point more than Marriner’s Compass. There is no question that Marriner’s Compass’ Power stat should be 71. At present time it is slightly worse than a Masterwork ring with an Ascended upgrade!
(edited by Hearte.6852)
5%MF replace 71 Power, i don’t think it’s bugged.
Incorrect. Take a look at the stats from the sample Exotic ring and Marriner’s Compass. The 5% MF on Marriner’s Compass is part of the “upgrade slot” section of the stats, which is independent of the top stats. The bottom line is that the power stat should be 71 on Marriner’s Compass. Marriner’s Compass is currently inferior to Exotic rings, and possibly even Rare or Masterwork. I’ll do comparisons with those tomorrow.

For comparison:
Royal Signet of Doric (Ascended)
71 Power
50 Toughness
50 Vitality
32 Power
18 Toughness
18 Vitality
———————————————-
Marriner’s Compass (Ascended)
50 Toughness
50 Vitality
32 Power
18 Toughness
18 Vitality
5% Magic Find
——————————————————
Emerald Orichalcum Ring of the Explorer (Exotic)
48 Power
48 Precision
67 Toughness
4% Magic Find
15 Precision
15 Power
The Royal Signet of Doric’s favored main stat is Power. It appears to have the correct stat spread for a normal Ascended ring. The top 3 stats are highlighted in green.
Marriner’s Compass seems to be flawed. Power should be 71, like Royal Signet of Doric’s top Power stat, not 32. The Power and Toughness for both Ascended rings are the secondary valued stats. Also, only the top 2 stats of Marriner’s Compass are highlighted in green. I’m fairly certain this was unintended, because the main stat spread totals 132 points; an Exotic ring with similar top stats = 163, and Ascended = 171.

Ranged mobs? they die in a few hits from feedback! O.O
Our weakness is vs. ranged mobs, but we have our tricks.
Our weakness is vs. ranged mobs, but we have our tricks. Against melee, we are gods.
Experiencing a near-constant lag the past couple days. Even chat has a slight delay.
As it is, thieves almost never remove Signet of Shadows from their bars anyway. Seems like that needs a nerf, and the new buffs need to be revoked. Why encourage less skill variety?
It may be impossible, but try doing it on a Friday before WvW reset, with Bowls of Orrian Truffle and Meat Stew, which is generally the best dungeon food, IMO.
Now do it with his adds, as the fight was intended. =D
Updated the original post to include solo kill videos for the Cave Troll and Kholer with his adds, including the general strategies for each fight.
Uploaded the Kholer 2x video, just waiting on the original speed vid to finish, then I’ll post them. Funny thing was on the way to Kholer, the Cave Troll popped, so I actually made a video of a solo kill for it as well. It didn’t have the challenge factor like Kholer and his adds, but keeping that regeneration in check was a trick!
Thanks for the encouragement folks! Of course hindsight always shows how many improvements can be made on kills. I would have had a much different setup if I were to do it again, just from my own observations. As far as Kholer goes, I can solo him, but I’m trying to get a video including the add kills, while fighting in his room. Last time I drew Ranger/Monk, which is a really nasty combo since the Ranger is CCing me while getting heals from the Monk. At one point I had the ranger to 5% when I was downed, but I didn’t want to finish him, because I wanted all the kills in one shot. Pulling Kholer out of the room makes me feel naughty, like ‘Santa won’t bring me presents’ naughty.
12-10-12: Edited to include Kholer and Troll.
Here’s a collection of Ascalonian Catacombs videos made since December 8, 2012, showcasing solo Mesmer kills of Queen Spider, Cave Troll, and Lieutenant Kholer (Including his adds, in his room, the way that nature intended). The details of the builds are on the Youtube pages. Thanks to Wethospu for suggesting alternate 2x speed conversion videos. I’m getting an error when I try to embed multiple videos, so only the links for Cave Troll and Queen Spider are shown.
The Kholer fight was definitely the trickiest, for obvious reasons. I ran an illusion-based build, with Feedback for the Ranger, and also the Fern Mastiff for extra distraction. The point of this build was to keep clones and Phantasmal Berserker active at all times, so they could provide distraction and keep cripples on the Mesmer and Kholer, while giving myself a speed buff. Eliminating the Ranger was the most difficult part.
The Cave Troll took nearly as long, due to its regeneration. The trick was to avoid melee range and the AoE while eliminating its regeneration, which can go as high as 25 stacks. I used Mind Stab to remove the regeneration.
Queen Spider was the sloppiest fight, and I would have changed many things with my build if I were to do it again. A Phantasm/no shatter build seems very promising.
I’d like to thank the designers and developers, like you Robert, who spend so much time creating and implementing these fights. Soloing these bosses is in no way practical at all, yet provides a really fun, fresh challenge. It has given me an additional goal and focus while playing.

Are you in Heart of the Mists?
Those are some seriously picky goggles.
Was just in a group where they did the trick where you stand on the wheels for Rabsovich. I asked them about it, and they said it eliminates the AoE damage the mobs do, but possibly not the normal damage.
Changing the sigil won’t change it to exotic, but I believe transmuting it will.
A couple other dredge exploits for the list:
Just prior to Rabsovich on the door destruction path. Someone in the group had a stack of Ash Legion Spy Kits, which they used to cheese the door, after we downed a Reverberant and they grabbed the cannon. 10 seconds of uninterrupted stealth at the door.
Also for Rabsovich, the group decided to pull him out of the room to fight him away from his adds, completely debasing the whole fight.
I don’t think pull him away to fight him is an exploit. That’s a workaround. It’s no different than pulling a small group at a time to fight them in any situation. It’s just more tactical, safer, and much smarter than just charge into a group.
That’s ridiculous. It’s an easy fight regardless. Why would the designers intend for you to make it a joke? It’s not about pulling him away from a group of mobs to be tactical; it’s about completely removing an element of the fight until the boss is dead. Clearly not intended, therefore exploit.
a joke? no, no one takes it as a “joke”, or make it for that matter. If you’re telling me the ANet intended us to not think outside the box/have our own play styles, and that it is even intended for range class/light armor class to simply charge in like they have nothing to lose, you’re clearly confused about what’s intended and what is not. That’s like saying Kiting and other methods of fightings mobs are a big no-no, and that everyone should just rush them. Workarounds and adopt to situations with the group you have (especially when you have no warriors/guardians in your party), that’s intended; walking through walls, that’s not intended.
Robert added it to the official list of known bugs/exploits above, regardless of you people who lack the critical thinking to realize that it was obviously not intended. So clearly it was not intended. Big surprise. Do you honestly think that you’re supposed to down the boss solo, then go mop up the trash back at the spawn point? There’s plenty of space in the room to use whatever unique group tactics you like. Again, it’s an easy fight without cheesing.

LOL, whats so clear about it? Developers made a fight, players thought of ways to deal with it, and u are calling it an exploit? Tell you what, they expect you to have 20 resist on 20-29 jade maw fight too. If you don’t have it, you are exploiting your way up by letting those who have 20 resist cheese rez you up
And since you believe the folks at Arena Net are gods, can foresee all probable outcomes and do not make mistakes as mortals do, then obviously any “workarounds” are totally legitimate. People Like you really do worry me.
