I think at one point there will be a need to add an underwater race to feel attached to, so we feel the corruption of the DSD as a personal slight. To this end, I do believe the Largos will be the race chosen to lead us into the deep – and upon doing so it would be most logical to let us play as one. Though I too struggle to see them blend with the rest of Tyrian society.
But then again, I struggle to see Charr blend in as well, and they’re doing fine so what do I know.
I just know that their society is interesting and I want to know what is going on in the depths. I’d love to play as one.
Yeah, I’d seriously doubt any of the minor races being playable. They are even in your personal story as a weak race you have to help somehow as the big hero, who returns later and assists a bit: here.
I can’t really see any other big races being candidates for playable as either the Tengu (which I personally think are a bit dull), Kodan and Largos. And of course the option of introducing new races. Centaurs, harpies, etc, will never ever happen since Anet has stated their status as a “dark” race, alas.
Generally, I am going for a holy warrior look, I think. And I’m thinking of just making a fourth guardian so they can wear the human tier 3 chest piece and maybe the HotW leggings – all dyed mithril and celestial. But I can’t believe how few armors there actually look good in celestial without looking rather dirty and odd. :/
The look I want – which I still feel is rather left unrepresented in the game – is more akin to
this here. Here, the armor is clean and shiny without and spikes and dreadful things to make it look like the armor of a dread-lord, rather than that of a pure guardian.
Otherwise, armor which looks something to this effect would also work, though it’s still a bit pointy and sharp.
There are good suggestions here, and I think I’m really starting to warm up to the HotW leggings. xD
Still no halo, kitten you Anet!if your looking for pointy and sharp try arah gloves/shoulders/chest or full armagedden
Oop, sorry, I mean “it’s still a bit too pointy and sharp”. I don’t like those things since they seem impractical and thus I dislike the visual. :P
I like low-key and elegant armor – which is difficult since I’m a minority. Sorry! xD

I’d want maybe a tome (like the tome of wrath). A two-handed weapon so he holds it with one hand and casts spells with the other hand.
It’d be a mostly offensive very long range AoE weapon, since the scepter is more long range single target (besides the very short AoE).
I’d think the book would either burn the foe for fire splash dps and – maybe – on every third strike blind the foe. Then the other skills would either be a channelled fire dps skill which also removed conditions (like the torch) with maybe a fiery “blink” type skill that teleported you backwards as an extra dodge away from the enemy.
It’d give the guardian a medium-high dps long range weapon if they so wished, but sacrifice all the protect and regeneration from their other weapons. The book would also be in line with the theme of the guardian as an ancient holy tome, perhaps.
i would go for it if i can change the stat of trinkets at will, but i don’t really think they will implement any legendary trinket, what’s the point? they are not even visible…
and they give us only 2 gift of exploration for the map completion, how are we supposed to get a full legendary set?
You do know that you can take another character through the world map again and get two more, right?
I have three guardians, and they are the only class which I’d happily level a fourth if it wasn’t because there are no more races I want a guardian on (norn male, human male and charr male). :P
I just generally love their survivability and being able to survive any hardships as I explore stupid places and what not.
If they add a violin, I rather hope we get a cello too. That deep range is simply wonderful.
I made a post about my ideas regarding legendary backpieces and/or trinkets here.
To recap, I think subdued jumping and/or dodging effects might make a more interesting addition rather than auras or glows which might not interact well with other legendaries, perhaps?
I just want to play as Kodan and Largos. That’s all. I want to punish Jormag for taking the North with a Kodan and search the depths for the DSD as a Largos. C:
Hello,
In lieu of the newly mentioned legendary types of equipment (armor, trinkets, weapons, etc), I thought about what effect such legendary or otherwise might contribute to your character without feeling engulfed in particle effects or a sea of living flames.
My idea was: what about backpieces whose “effect” would only show upon a certain skill, for example either dodge or jump? It is of course not isolated to backpieces, but that is where I think it would be easiest to implement.
Let me give some examples as to what I mean:
If we take an already existing backpiece – the Sun Catcher backpiece – the idea would be to, upon dodge or jump, there would be a trail of the sun-dash-effect from the aspect skills. Every time you jumped or dodged you would have a tiny sun dash effect.
Likewise with the Wind Catcher, the “wind jump” effect could play upon dodge or jump.
Or we could make an entirely new backpiece, maybe something entitled “Dwayna’s Grace”, which would maybe be a teeny-tiny pair of ethereal folded back wings of dwayna. Upon jumping or dodging these small wings would give a tiny flap (even I think the huge dragon-wings’ constant flapping can be a distraction).
Effects such as these should be small enough so as not to add too much to the already overwhelming particle effects of GW2 (the flapping of the wings and the dash-effect would be very low-key and toned down), but also give a unique “flair” to your character if you so choose.
These effects would also be tiny enough to be able to integrate neatly into the already existing legendary weapon effects such as the constant glow and footprints, without having an “always-on” effect. I think it would be an interesting way to further costumize the visual expression of our characters without going into the “it must shine always”-idea. Discreet but still unique – at least that’s the idea!
Races: Largos and Kodan
Classes: Dervish and Paragon
That is all.
In GW1 there were contests to design weapons and shields iirc. It would be nice if they held a contest like it – for clothing and other such items!
I.. I would really like some holy/paladin inspired armors and back items in the game for a change (like Radiant), for all of us who don’t like the sinister/demonic/bandit looking theme. :c
HotW armor might be a good idea, yes, for races that do not have access to the god-tier T3 human racial. I just really want something with a paragon/paladin look to it. Armor that looks clean and shiny and divine so I can shine in all my splendour whilst saving my team mates. :P
Aye aye! They even buffed the mistfire wolf so it’s actually a bit useful now (use it for PvE on my mesmer), and yet, the Norn racials – which are visually the coolest – are still incredibly useless. Make them completely useless but make it a toggle-skill at least so we can enjoy running around in LA roaring at people. :C
Hello,
I’m not sure if this should be posted here, but I guess I will do it anyway.
Besides the tier 3 human armor, are there any actual guardian/holy themed armor sets in the game at all? Most of the armors in the game look like they belong on either a warrior or some kind of dark lord – what are your guardians wearing? I was really pleased with the addition of the Radiant set, but since that doesn’t have either a chest piece nor leggings/shoes I’m not sure what to couple it with.
And since we can’t get a halo like we could in GW1..
No because that would only increase workloads.
Exactly this. I’d rather have them work on stuff that is available on every server to all players. All that extra work for something potentionally only half the population would see? Meh.
I believe it was said that the winner will sponser/fund research into a particular fractal. That means that fractal will be released first.
That does not mean that research into the second fractal will stop. It is just not being sponsored or funded and will take longer to complete.
Really? Has this been confirmed anywhere that we will get both at some point in time, regardless of the outcome of the vote? If that’s true, it will 100% affect my vote since I’m only voting for Gnashblade to see Abaddon and Dwayna and the gods.
If we’re simply getting them later, I’ll vote for Kiel as I’m sure she’ll make the living story more interesting in the long run. :C
I don’t think that is correct. Colin stated that the story gets tied up at the end which means it is already written. It’s like a choose your own adventure book. The only thing we are choosing is the fractal and the bonus. We aren’t choosing how the story plays out. That is already decided. Ellen and Evon’s roles in the story are not affected even though by either one of them being in power makes it look that way. We are just being offered the illusion of a choice in the matter, not too unlike real life politics.
This story, but he also said they’d remain in council and in the future would maybe have an impact on future disasters hitting LA – so I’d say that there is potential for things to get more interesting with Kiel in council. She’d be there to correct everyone and make sure they’d do the honourable thing whilst they all just want to pirate all day long. Yes, “to pirate” is a verb now.
I’m just happy with getting something that does not look evil/sinister/fire-themed/etc for once. Thanks for thinking of the Guardians, Anet!
..(for once)
I don’t mind back items, because at some point they will run out and they will have to give us either a) a cape or b) Dwayna-inspired wings (or any guardian-themed back-items)!
Actually, I’ll give all my back items for some holy-looking armor of any kind (thanks for Radiant, btw!). :C

It’s just not a priority. The thing is its current state is fluff, and the sooner you realize it, the better off you will be. There’s no conceivable reason to think that the leaderboard was in any way balanced for competitive purposes. It will take time to think of something else.
They will get around to fix it, with the obvious solution of doing periodic resets. But stuff takes time.
I’m not sure how easy it would be to fix the points now that the rewards have been given. I mean, they’d have to roll back rewards from your account (including both skins, laurels and gold which you might have spent long ago). Not sure how they’d do that.
An easier solution would probably be to go and play GW1 if people want those extra rewards to stay competative. I know I am giving GW1 another go to do it, so I’m not sure why you couldn’t either? Not sure why it’s more silly than to be “forced” to do either WvW or PvP to stay ahead in the “achievement points” race. But eh, complaining is easier I guess. Better take other peoples toys so they can still stay ahead.
But then, I see the points as a bonus instead of the reason to play GW2. I think it’s a nice nod to people who has supported their previous game (which is still available).
Actually, as far as I recall, nope.
The rapier animation isn’t unique. It is exactly the same as the sword animation for rangers. The pierce-kick-swish-cycle is from them.
Normal chests? Coffers or actual chests?
I’ve bought about 5-6000 gems and I didn’t get anything either. Maybe they’re just selecting people at random?
Or maybe you dont need to feel entitled to complete it this year? In GW1 there were some holiday titles (so like achievements) which were IMPOSSIBLE to complete in one year even if you would play 24 hours while the event was live. I was fine with that. And so I am fine with what they offer now. If you cant grind it now, you can return next year and finish the job. Its not like this thing will be gone forever.
If you have a source on that, I’d be fine with it. But don’t just assume things and call other people entitled who assume otherwise.
A source on what exactly? I assume Dragon Bash is an event that will return every year. Like Wintersday or Halloween. And you will be able to continue with your achievements if you missed something. This is how it worked in GW1 and so far I have no reason to believe it will be different in GW2.
Except the wings are not part of the achievement – they are a seperate vendor who sells items for taffy. Without a source, you are just assuming – just like we are.

Grinding it is stupidly easy. Just go to a starting area and one shot all the mobs.
Yeah of course, at ~240 taffy an hour i was getting that’s only 18.9 solid days of grinding! genius!
Or even better, if you want to take the casual way out, you can only grind for 8 hours each day for 30 days. But then you’d have to make about 417 each hour. Easy indeed!
You need to make about 138.8 taffies each hour for 24 hours for 30 days to afford a pair of those wings.
I’m all for hard work, but seriously, you cannot sleep at all if you want to work hard for those wings. Instead, you’re going to have to play the market (like always, apparently) or just buy the gold from Anet. It’s absolutely insanse, really. I really hope it’s a typo, because that can’t be real.
Once again, only the richest in the game can get the most exclusive skins – not the hard working. And no, I don’t consider 24 hours grind for 30 days non-stop to be hard working. That’s suicide.
Yup, you need to make about 138.8 taffies each hour for 24 hours for 30 days to afford a pair of those wings.
I’m all for hard work, but seriously, you cannot sleep at all if you want to work hard for those wings. And I mean no sleep what so ever.
I understand the need to have racial skills be weaker than other skills, but making a skill both useless (mostly) AND have a crazy long CD with almost no up-time? That also kills it for the cosmetic aspect. Either make it useful outside WvW leopards, or make it less useful and make it last a lot longer and have a shorter CD so people can enjoy it as a cosmetic skill at least.
At the moment, I think I used mine once when I unlocked it and I wanted to see it. :c
Honestly, even though I’d prefer by far to get it by token, I’d just be pleased to have a way of obtaining it. I got a fused weapon ticket and felt super guilty because I really hate those weapons, while other guildies have been trying to obtain it for a while. And if they ever are added to the BLC, I’m sure I’ll never – ever – have the token drop. :P
1) Largos – their society is just very interesting to me, and we need a calm and collected race (humans are too fickle, sylvari are too curious, norn are drunk, asura are too egotestical and charr are too aggressive).
2) Largos – because also underwater bioluminescence is cool.
3) Largos – because honestly Largos, and I dislike Tengu so there.
I feel that the easiest fix is to simply make the skins non-account bound, i.e. being able to sell it on the TP.
That way it is still obtainable outside the boxes, Anet gets their money from the cash shop, and people (like me) who got one from a chest and absolutely cannot stand yet another fire-based skin can sell it or give it to a guildie who would kill for one.
Somehow I really like this slow pace. Makes it feel more real, since it’s an ongoing slowly-evolving story. And in the meantime I have the rest of Tyria to explore. The only thing I’d like is that they’d replace a few of the normal Flame Legion mob models with the new, so as to reflect the slow change of equipment/structure within their ranks.
Though honestly, I just want to find out more about Brahams backstory. C:
I honestly think that his shield is the best looking shield in the game, so far (personal opinion). I really hope that it will be available, as it’d be too bad to let such a good weapon skin go to waste, while the players on the other hand get yet another fire-based skin (fused). :P
I really hope that it will be available at the conclusion of Flame and Frost – maybe in Cragstead? And maybe by a token system like finishing the Personal Story? Maybe? Perhaps?
