The current meta for Warrior in WvW zergs is no longer shout healer.
I’m running this atm and it’s working nicely:
I think mace, ax, or shield would have made great weapons, but I won’t complain about staff.
Mace, axe, shield? on a thief? wut?
Actually Mace would make a LOT of sense on a Thief. Considering Thieves will often carry clubs to knock out guards etc. They could have made a smaller, basic club skin design that would have fit perfectly.
Out of the skins I’ve looked at, the following are easily the leaders so far:
Ceremonial Staff
Chaos Staff
Tormented Staff
Imryldyeen/The Legend
Emberspire
Monsoon
My personal favourite is Imryldyeen (AKA The Legend). It has that far east look and also looks function as a melee staff.
Best Elite spec would be the Capt. Ginyu move from DBZ. Switch classes with your opponent then murder them because thief is so badly outclassed.
Hey I don’t want them to feel insulted and then lock this thread. I am really earnestly looking for answers from them.
Ha! Like ANet are going to respond to this m8. You’ve asked fair questions in an articulate manner… they don’t GAF!
I have not tried such a build since last patch. I used to use it in a p/p build with ricochet . it had insane health regen.
You might consider cactus fruit salad over omnomberry as even in a power build 40 percent condition damage will be of more use than the 70 precision. The tooltip on the fruit salad is wrong and the rate in fact 66 percent.
No matter the types of conditions you lay on , be it weakness or cripple or blind or an immobilize having it last 40 percent longer is a great benefit.
This type of build favors rapid attack styles which is why P/P worked so well. If you use D\d as example and setup for stealth and backstab it will not benefit you as much.
The higher the crit rate the better. I would suggest 60 percent minimum without fury but in my own build I had the base at 80 percent.
Keep in mind any build using SOM is very dependent on INI supply. If your INI gone you have to be careful so as not to get bursted.
As well it important to note that SOM heals under the old system could be boosted from the SA line training. In other words it a relatively weaker heal then it was and you might find withdraw gives more healing overall and in particular when you engage just one enemy and or have no AOE or multiple attack types (unload pistol whio SB attacks) in your build.
I ran with this for about 2-3 hours today and with S/D it wasn’t “Bad”, It was actually quite ok. It doesn’t turn you into an old school GW Assassin with insane HP regen, but it did add a bit of survivability. Running a build with 65% crit chance under Fury (Pack runes & traited for max fury uptime) I was finding myself healing for around 500-1k HP every hit with the occasional 1k plus heal when I hit on the higher side (7k Larcenous) in conjunction with the weapon sigil.
I’m sure there’s better S/D thieves out there who could have a lot more joy with it than I did.
BTW is this for PvE or for WvW ?
This is for WvW buddy.
I’m a fan of Signets of Power + Assassins Signet. The extra 150 power you get with the passive effect isn’t really lost with SoP traited as the 5 might stacks make up for it.
Honestly, with the CD reduction on signets you aren’t fighting minus the 150 power for long once the kittens are up and that 15% damage for 5 attacks gives some kitten nice burst, especially on my S/D setup.
Cloak & Dagger needs it’s casting time removing. The kitten thing should be instant!

I don’t think it could work. We are not warriors, we can’t stay there hitting ppl, we must go in and out with few great shots, so basically if you don’t hit you will not gat healed.
Maybe you could try in a p/p setup.
P/P isn’t a bad idea actually. It’s a shame that we no longer have Ricochet, but that could work. On a side note, I’ve just given this a quick bash with my S/D build and it worked surprisingly well, although the cone damage on Sword is probably a little more conducive to life stealing when attacking multiple enemies.
I’m gonna run it today, so I’ll be sure to post my findings here.
Ok, so this is just a general inquiry to those of you out there who may have tried this combination:
Omnomberry Pie + Superior Sigil of Blood + Signet of Malice + Invigorating Precision.
For those too lazy to check buffs etc:
Omnomberry pie: 66% chance to steal life on critical.
Superior Sigil of Blood: 50% chance to steal health on critical (5 second CD).
Signet of malice: Heals when you attack.
Invigorating Precision: You are healed for 15% of outgoing critical hit damage.
I have a few questions really. Has anyone tried it, is it effective and what minimum crit chance would you suggest to make it viable?
I don’t care what weapon we get as long as it allows us to run a viable build other than D/P.
Nope sorry, I’m not having it. I’ve been on AG since day one and GLAD are as legit as they come. They are experienced players and stand up guys and I would back them 100%.
Mesmers can near perma stealth now and good ones know exactly how to evade detection. I suggest you think seriously next time before accusing a guild of glitching/bugging/hacking.
Depends what you’re into bud. If you run with the zerg then Hammer & S/WH shout build is the way to go imho. You provide good damage to the melee train, good support with heals and condi cleanse and you have great survivability.
metabattle.com have a lot of up to date builds on there. Check it out
My hopes are for landspear
THIS IS SPARTA!
If you’re running in groups in WvW then Hammer/S&WH and run a frontliner shout build with Trooper runes. Sick & tired of seeing GS nubs running in zergs.
Those “nubs” might as well be GvG players. GS warriors for melee bombs are pretty popular now.
Personally I’d rather bring something useful to the party other than just straight damage. GS Warriors are seemingly so popular I hardly see shout warriors anymore (on my server anyway).
Mostly PvE people who cba switching gear out for WvW.

All they need to do is reduce casting time to 1/4 and the duration to 1.5 and it’ll be golden.
I refuse to bow down to the Anet nerf train on my Thief. I’ve been running S/D for two and a half years and I won’t be moved. Even though they nerfed S/D to the ground with the changes to LS & FS I’ve persisted. I’m waiting in hope for the day when they realise that Thief build variety is non-existent and reduce the ini cost of LS again.
They could even remove the root from pistol whip… all simple ideas that could add a bit more variety, but this is Anet :/
If you want good fights with a consistent community I’d say go for Gunners Hold. I’m currently on Aurora Glade and I’m giving serious consideration to switching. Were currently fighting Gunners & Elona Reach and our turnout is pathetic (Too many fairweather WvWers who are only interested when we can farm noobs).
Gunners have good turnouts regardless who they’re fighting.

Incoming immobilize, chill, Blind and cripple durations are reduced by 40%. Gain regeneration for 3 seconds when you are affected by one of these conditions (this regeneration can only be gained once every 10 seconds).
Not a huge change, but could be the answer imo.
People genuinely are clueless if they think that Thieves are just getting a buff with these balance changes. I’m about 99.9% certain that the D/P build will take a hit in the Shadow Arts tree and I have no doubt that there will be adjustments made elsewhere too.
My main is a Thief and I “hope” they rebalance the D/D & D/P builds in order to prevent perma stealth, because it really is needed. In doing that however they need to make sure they buff other aspects of the class in order to leave those builds viable to some extent.
I really do want more build variety for the Thief because I personally find D/D & D/P to be extremely boring. A small buff to the S/D or even the S/P builds would be welcomed!!! Remove root from Pistol Whip!!!!
Exactly the same thing. Around 8pm the game just starts lagging like a mofo and I literally can’t do anything due to it. Skills take 5-10 seconds to respond and I rubber band like a man possessed.
Country: UK
ISP: TalkTalk
Connection: 70mb d/l – 20mb u/l (Fibre optic)
The lack of any kind of response from ANet is annoying, although I’m guessing most of the Fibre lines being used are BT owned so it’s probably something to do with that crappy company.
