Put more attractive looking gears in store

I will definitely spend gems, kitten, I will go broke spending all of my money if only you have some attractive looking gear in the gem store. Why is it so hard to understand? The choices are currently very limited. We sorely need a great medium armor look that is not a trenchcoat of some sort. I have spent 60 levels wearing trenchcoats and I’m getting tired.

If you put more variety and nice looking gears even at the gem store I will buy. I will spend my real $ money to get them, but there is nothing worth buying right now. Also, I don’t know why most MMO companies don’t realize, but character re-customization is very popular. If you don’t have it in game, I’m sure this is a huge moneymaking machine at the gem store.

One fractal level consists of 3 mini dungeons, you must complete all 3 to be eligible to enter the next fractal level.

Every other fractal (even numbered fractals) has a world boss, the Jade Maw, so on even number fractals there are 4 mini dungeons.

The only way to see your level that I know of is to try to enter the portal to the dungeon, you will get a pop-up message that tells you what level you are eligible for. You don’t need to be in a group to do that.

Thank you for the reply, I must have misunderstood then. So are these 3 mini dungeons chosen randomly?

Hi guys, I just got back from a break, and suddenly all the chat is filled with LFM FOTM.

Can you explain simply how this works and what FOTM is consisted of?

I have understood that basically, after running Level 1 FOTM, which is about a 30 minute run with a boss fight at the end, you have completed Level 1.

So the next time I shout, I can be shouting for LFG Level 2 FOTM. Is this correct? Is there anywhere I can check what level FOTM I am at?

Thanks!

So how much gold can we get per gem?

in Players Helping Players

Hycinthus.6483

So let me get this straight, basically if I spend real $ to buy gems, and then the gems can be exchanged for gold, basically, if I have some $ I can have some gold in game?

Is this true? Because I’ve been worried about not having gold in game, and this can be remedied by buying gems, which is definitely a legitimate way of earning gold.

Also, what is the exchange rate? USD $10 = gems = gold ?

Thanks

Why are farewell posts forbidden?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Hycinthus.6483

Because they don’t add anything of substance to the discussion and there is no offtopic section.

I disagree. There are many farewell posts that have great concern and substances in them, which are beneficial for the public and also for the game in general. People take their time to write feedback on what the problems are , and not even 10 minutes later, the thread gets closed, I don’t think that’s fair at all. When it gets out of control and out of topic, then it can be closed. It should be judged per individual thread.

It’s always nice to see another perspective, especially from customers’ negative feedbacks, because it will help the game grow and become better in the long run. The people who quit are the people ArenaNet needs to focus on to address the issues that they were having that caused them to quit.

Sure, some of the reasons are probably not legitimate , but out of many, some are probably addressable. I think that it will only help the game to address and see those issues out here in the open, where we can read and give our thoughts too.

It makes a huge difference. Yesterday, I was in overflow doing the Lost Shores Phase 3 event, and at 2 hour 50 minute mark, we were still struggling at “Reinforcement phase 2”. Other servers are already done at 2 hour15 minute mark. We were late by about an hour. And mind you, we had as many people, if not more, than those other servers. I found out because I got disconnected, and ended up somewhere else.

Gears make a big difference.

Does the art-style bother you?

Hycinthus.6483

the character weapon swing animations are also awkward for moving charactres. it looks like the body is detached from your body is you run while swininging a 1h sword, for example.

Ya. I pre-purchased the game, had a 3-day start, and still don’t have an 80. I gave up on my warrior because the animations were not very enjoyable. My Ele.‘s are a little better, but I can’t get over how small and flat everything feels in the game. I recently started playing DC Universe online, and the characters feel better (although the movement takes some time to get used to). The characters look bigger/solid (even when zoomed out) and the world looks very open and unrestricted.

I guess it’s a matter of option. I opened this thread to express my opnion on the art-style, but it doesn’t mean it’s “wrong”. What do you guys think?

Juanito, I think to illustrate this to people who has a hard time understanding, you need to post 2 pictures. 1 picture of GW2 fully zoomed out and another picture of other MMO (DC Universe or whatever), fully zoomed out. A side-by side comparison is really needed here.

I totally understand what you’re talking about, but it helps if others see it.

I’m very sorry to hear that but honestly, being handicapped means you’re handicapped. This means certain things are either far more difficult or simply impossible. Maybe your brother could ask a blind person how he feels about never even playing a video game? Maybe ask a paraplegic what he thinks of GW2?

I don’t want to sound rude, but in this case there’s not much you can do. TS in WvW and dungeons is virtually required for serious play. He does have the option of starting a guild for deaf players (an option which blind players don’t have) and it might be pretty successful.

We all have our fair share of trouble in life, and I’ve personally learned to suck it up and either go for it best I can or completely ignore the impossible. What you can’t do is blame others for wanting a talkative guild and because of that require TS.

On the other hand, Nihilum had a deaf player as main tank for a while. Hard work really can overcome everything. Chin up and take responsibility.

I see apparently Marnick just copied pasted what he wrote on my thread to here. I hope you will never experience being handicapped, or if you already are, I’m glad you’re handling it better than other people who are.

The first and last thing I said in my original post is that they are willing to accommodate this, and there is no expectation from them or me for guilds to change the way they conduct business. If they want to use vent, it’s totally fine, only that the requirement or expectation for someone to be a serious guild member is to use it, is a bit unrealistic -in my opinion-. All I wanted to do was get some advice, and also raise awareness so that people can be more tolerant. We aren’t begging for anything.

As others said, it’s not only for deaf people, but also for people who for some reason cannot speak while playing, perhaps due to children sleeping, roommates, etc.

For your information, they have been sucking it up in real life also in game. There is nothing in my post indicating they are not sucking it up. Actually, they’re sucking it up in their situation so much I had to be the one who speaks up here, because they already know they’re handicapped, and most others are not, and they won’t get any support from anyone.

Deaf players and guilds requiring Vent/TS

I played few MMOs and never was I in situation where I felt forced to go in vent. Easy fix would to just not group with those people but if he does want to play with them he can just say he is deaf, most people should accept that reason.

Well, my cousin has never participated in raids anyway, because he fully understands he cannot contribute without using Vent. But the problem now is just simply being and existing in a guild that has required him to get on Vent. He just wanted to be a part of the community that are, from what I have seen (which may not be true across the board), increasingly shutting him out.

Hycinthus.6483

Hi guys, I hope you have some advice on this.

My younger cousin and his friends are hearing impaired, and they have been playing MMOs for a while. Increasingly though, the trend of many MMOs are requiring guild members to participate in Vent/ Teamspeak, and of course this is a problem for them.

I fully understand when running raids or events, the use of Vent / TS is pivotal, and without it maybe most runs cannot be completed. I don’t dispute that. But I have seen and heard in more than 2 guilds now, 1 of them in another MMO, where I heard the leader and officer bad-mouthing people who are not in Vent/TS.

I am not lying when i heard on Vent, that they said “All these people can’t even bother to download Vent, means they’re not serious, and I am not going to respond to their questions in chat. They shouldn’t even have access to guild bank”. In fact, they promised never to type in guild chat anymore.

Also I saw one person who typed a question in guild chat, and no one answered, even though all the officers were on Vent, and I heard them talking, and I was the one who answered.

Although not as severe in GW2, but this trend is becoming very common, and I just feel bad for my cousin and his friends. They like to play MMOs because when they’re in-game, they can use chat which should be reliable, and for one part of social their life they can be on equal footing with everyone else.

Anyway I was wondering if anyone has experienced this, and whether they have any suggestions? I know we cannot change those guilds’ positions, but maybe we can do something from our end to accommodate this trend. I just hope guild leaders realize this, and sure we may be minority (i’m speaking on my cousin’s behalf), but it s never the intention that we are not serious enough members that we don’t speak in Vent.

How to make money if I have no talent at all?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Hycinthus.6483

I am not a smart person, let’s get that out of the way. Also, I’m a casual player so I don’t really work hard in game. I have no talent analyzing tradepost to buy/sell to make money. I have no talent to know what to farm or what to mine. I have no talent to do any crafting professions at all, actually I got confused, and it made me broke from buying too many materials. I have no talent in anything at all, in real life I am not rich, so I cannot spend money to buy gems. Also since I have to buy gears from tradepost, so I’m always broke. And in dungeons we die a lot, so 4-5 silver repair is very costly.

Does anyone have any idea how to make money that any bad players can easily do?

Is anyone else scared of PvP?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Hycinthus.6483

Hycinthus.6483

I think I have a PvP-phobia. I’m just scared being killed and hunted by other players. In PVE it’s fine because I can run away, and the monsters will lose aggro. But being hunted by players seems too personal to me, this is why I cannot do PvP or WvW. Am I the only one feeling like this and is it weird?

Also, I know that when I do PvP against another player, I will most likely die, so there is no point of me to PvP at all, since all I’ll be doing is respawning over and over. Any suggestions ?

Finish the cycle of Eternal Return~

I actually convinced a friend to buy and play the game because he is busy, but could play from time to time. I’m afraid now every time he logs on I’ll just have to point him at some new benchmark gear. R.I.P.

I don’t wanna sound mean but your friend can buy cheap exotics that only has few less stats than Ascended gears. And for those that have extra time they can spend on other things to get better gears. I don’t see any problem with that and everyone know this from beginning when the game started:
=> Exotics > Green > Blue > White
now Legendaries + Ascended > Exotic > Green > Blue > White; suddenly people start QQ!

Um, Exotics are not cheap…

“…about these new items as I am!”

This is obviously the last paragraph of the news post made by Linsey Murdock. Since the other thread is very long, with single users posting multiple replies, I just had a little idea.

Let’s see, for real, if anet really “listens” to the players.

Just make a single post and nothing else in this thread, replying at the “hope” of Linsey, with a simple “Yes, I love the new ascended items” or “No, I hate the new ascended items.”

And let’s show anet, at least for us people browsing the official forums, how many are the nays and how many are the ayes.

My vote is:

NAY

OP, you should count the YAY or NAY, and edit your original post with the amount, so we can get an idea. Anyway, nay for me, and nay to linsey murdock I am not as excited as you are.

Will this be a trend of limiting players from being able to run content? I remember I was in TERA, and this was exactly what happened. People right away got kicked if they weren’t wearing the latest gear and we haven’t even started the dungeon yet. I thought it will be different in GW2, but I guess now we’re reverting back to the same formula…
