Sometimes it’s not that easy to make friends.
Thank you engineer really need this. Anyway how do some people not know what bullet points are? Is it called differently in other countries?
If by need it you mean they need Grenade and bomb kit nerfed with some other stuff tweaked slightly to be brought up then yeah they do. Hopefully it finally happens this patch.
Um no, engineers do not need nerfed. We need buffed, as you will see in the patch notes tomorrow, I can already guarantee, if not I will eat spaghetti through my nose.
Just additional fun stuff for us to do especially if you can decorate it. That’s why it’s gotta be decoratable, if not, I agree, it’s kind of a waste. You can collect or display trophies, or you gather rare materials so you can craft that furniture you want. And then to show off to your friends what your interior looks like. Also as a guild, a place you can gather, hold guild meetings and just have fun. In EQ2, you can upgrade the guildhouse so you can have crafting stations in it, you can have teleport master in it, vendors, NPC that give buffs, etc. It’s just fun and if you don’t use it, then you don’t use it. Also housing is part of the reason guild members can root themselves with this game, and that they can root themselves with the guild. A sense of belonging, so they’re less likely to quit the guild due to the many perks, and also, less likely to quit the game.
I don’t know if there’s a solution for this though, because it’s inevitable that everyone will be 80 one day, and lower level areas will be empty.
I am in Borlis Pass, and almost every zone is empty. I was in level 35-40 area last night, that coal area at the very right side of the map. It was empty….
Yes please we need guild housing badly.
Thank you engineer really need this. Anyway how do some people not know what bullet points are? Is it called differently in other countries?
I’m going to conclude that, in my opinion, there is too much of the “facebook mentality” in GW2 right now. Maybe this is because of the mechanics, maybe this is due to the way players think and behave, maybe this is because that’s how Anet see their game. A massive player-meat-grinding machine (Like any other MMO ? I don’t know, maybe).
Johnson has a great point here. The “facebook” and twitter and social media mentality is becoming more and more prevalent, and GW2 seems to be targeting those kinds of audience, in my opinion.
And what kinds of gaming company wouldn’t be? The huge market currently is the casual, facebook games, ipad and iphone gamers. GW2 is geared towards the “non-consequentialityness” of things.
For example, dying. You can just repeatedly rez again, and dying is really not a big deal. Secondly, loot. You can hit a world boss just once, then spend your time jumping ‘lol lol lol’, and in the end, you also get a chest even though you didn’t contribute much. Also, partying. I just found out anyone can invite anyone, you don’t have to be a leader.
Also Tradepost can be accessed from anywhere. You can instantly sell on tradepost. Gems can be bought anywhere you are. I’m not saying any of these are bad designs noo. Some of these make our lives much easier. But it is geared towards making lives easier, therefore, targetting casual consumers. Therefore, the mentality of Guild members, like Johnson said , is exactly how ArenaNet sees their game is supposed to be like. Everything is easy, hop on , hop off, not a big deal, there’s no subscription fee also, you can do whatever you like. You will see a different type of crowd if you try a niche MMO like The Secret World, or FF14.
After reading the other pages, I think the quickest and short term solution that the OP can do and within his control is to better vet the recruiting process. The OP cannot control that GW2 has few activities that require a guild to be successful run, none of us can change that overnight. But perhaps be very clear about the your requirements during recruitment. Have the applicants submit applications from your website, and have them answer a Yes/No questions “Are you willing to represent?”, and in turn, what benefits can you offer, etc.
I know that you probably are doing this already, but in the end, you can’t control the Human Element that will eventually arise again. People will hop, people will quit, people will move on. Unfortunately, by making your recruitment process strict, you run the risk of losing quality members to the mega, giga corporation guilds who are chomping up every other person out there.
I love the feature, I think the real problem is to many guilds have no sense of quality when they recruit members. If you go around picking up trash, then soon you have a lot of trash.
So many guilds will recruit anyone and everyone. Have some standards BEFORE they are in your guild.
Well, maybe this is fair but maybe this is not. I feel like I am being recruited by guilds often, and I join many guilds as well, but I sure hope I am not trash. I feel like trash though, because I am in guilds where there were no vetting process, no quality control, but please don’t blame me, because when you offer perks and advertise, I will take up the offer.
And then if I see the guild does not live up to its expectations, then I quit. Perhaps I am trash, but there are also a LOT of trash guilds also out there.
I have only read the first page, but I’d like to offer my perspective as a guild member.
Yes, I am guilty of many of those things the OP mentioned due to the multi-guilding feature, and it is not really intentional. One morning, I actually asked a question, and was being helped and shown places by this one person, and not until 1 week later I realized that was the Guild Leader. Also I don’t remember the name of my guild at the top of my head, nor do I know any of the officers, and I feel bad now saying this, because I feel like a bad person now.
Yes, you can tell me it’s all my fault for not caring, and I agree and I apologize, but I also feel there are many people like me and the problem has been exacerbated by the multi-guild feature. I have to say whenever I hear someone recruiting, and it sounds very nice “we have upgrades, vent, etc etc”, I immediately sent a tell to join, and voila just like that I got an invite. So since the joining part is not a big deal, then I in turn feel that the guild itself is not a big deal.
Then after joining, sometimes I realize there’s only 5 people representing, and it does look bad on the guild, because basically those people can’t even hear what my chat, and no one welcomes me once I joined.
The conclusion is, the problem is multi-faceted. One is the attitude of casual players like me, and the other is the multi-guild feature that is enhancing the ‘casualness’ of everything, so nothing seems too serious anymore. Getting /gkicked is no longer a big deal.
Also one thing I’d like to discuss is, perhaps the attitude of many MMO players are changing. I feel we are in the phase of many “MMO-hoppers”, of many players hopping from one MMO to the next. Back when it used to only be EQ or WoW, people were loyal to the MMO, they cared about their reputation, they had nowhere else to go. With so many MMOs to choose from, casual has become the new thing, just like where the gaming industry is headed today.

Hi guys, does anyone have a summary of interviews or information about guild halls, what they are planning with it, when, and so forth, or if they can just post below what they know?
Also did Guild Wars 1 have guild halls, if yes how does it work? Does it work like Everquest 2’s guild halls, you can decorate? And can you put like crafting stations, tradepost, bank, inside the halls? Also are there upkeeps, bonuses, and where are they located, can everyone see from outside? Do they look like houses or castles?
Basically I want juicy information, since I am not familiar with GW’s version of guild halls. Thanks!
Why do some people think just because OP doesn’t like trenchcoats, then s/he immediately wants skimpy armor? There are lots of cool looking armors I can think of designing between trenchcoats and skimpy.
I hope they put more non-trench armors especially for low and mid level range. I hate levelling all the way to 80 in coats. I am now already 37, and all I’ve been in are coats, half coats, half skirts kilts.
As for character customization change, yes.
In fact they had a bug a few weeks back where they accidentally added a character customization change to the gem shop early and had to remove it, since they said it wasn’t functioning properly yet. There was an ANET post in a thread where someone asked why the customization thing they bought wasn’t working, heh.
So clearly they’re working on it.
If this is true I am happy to hear this, I just hope it’s not totally moneygrabbing like $50. But I always think this is a great idea, and I don’t know why some MMOs out there do not implement this, I don’t see any negatives about having this always available. Some people only realize their mistakes on how ugly their characters are after 20 levels and seeing other people’s characters look way better.
not really. there is a high lvl exotic chest piece that’s fitted and has a belt across the chest with ninja stars but it still has a half skirt.
This is what I mean, I really don’t want another half skirt, half kilt, half robe things. Also if you are a thief, it’s not practical to be wearing robes. We need something like leather armor that is fitted, it doesn’t have to be tights or pantyhoses. Just something cool that’s not a robe.
Maybe not just a barbershop for hair, but for a complete character remodeling, because I think I picked some wrong choices, and I don’t feel like starting over again. My character is too short, and I should’ve picked the taller option. Now I am in Norn area, I look like a hobbit.
Anyway, even if we pay gems, I would be willing if there is an option to do this in the future.
Also if you guys notice almost all trenchcoats have clipping issues.
more like, in the end, people are forced to take care of themselves primarily and keep an eye on the mobs and what they do and where they go and not rely on others (mainly one person, aka tank) so heavily that the only thing they do is sit and spam damage skills
True, but if the OP is correct, that he tanks about 100% of the time, and he never signed up to be a tank, then what is our suggestion for him? Because this means he is the only one who has to keep an eye on the mob, and the rest of the party are just sitting and spam damage skill, i don’t think that’s fair.
I don’t mind trenchcoats but I really don’t want to be wearing these robey trenchcoats on my engineer all the way to 80. I’m already 37 now, and all I’ve worn are coats.
Is there any medium armor piece that looks decent? I’m quite disappointed at the variety, and most of these coats have clipping issues, I’m sure you guys understand.
Also my second question, what is that armor from the human engineer character selection screen? Where can I find the vendor for it, and how hard is it to get, is it pvp?
Thanks guys, I just want to be able to enjoy playing this class more if I look good in the part.
This is not just female medium armor problem but also male. I dont like trenchcoats alll the way to 80. May i ask:
What is the armor in the engineer character selection screen, what level is it, where can i get it, and is it hard to get?
Well when i first heard about the game not having trinity, not having tank, my first thought was, well someone has to tank…. So this is the result, basically since there are no conclusive answers, in the enf people are forced to be tanks.
Hi guys i have encountered at least three times what i believe are bots, rangers with brown bears. I tried to report from options but i could only report bugs. Can someone give a step by step on how to report bots in game an very quickly just in case they were running around? Is there a way to report by right clicking their name? On that note, how do i check another persons gear?

Thank you I will double check, but I attributed it to the forum because this has been happening mostly if I left GW2 forum open on the browser. But I will try some of your suggestions.

Does this happen to anyone else? Whenever I have the gw2 forum on my browser, and even while the browser is closed and my iPhone is idling on the desk, the battery goes down very fast, within 3 to 4 hours. I tried with another MMO forums, like swtor, TERA, the secret world, and it doesn’t happen like that.
My friend thinks it’s because gw2 forum background is light colored instead of dark, so it drains battery more. And mind you I’m not browsing all day. I just leave my phone idle with the browser on the forum page. If anyone experiences this please devs think about it and maybe the forum can be changed to dark background. Or if anyone has any other suggestion. Thanks!
If yes, from where? I’ve been searching for the Halloween door in Queensdale to no avail after Act 3 started. Please let me know where and when it is available again.
Please extend, I live in Maryland, and the last tropical storm Irene lost us our power for a week. And now I’m scared I will lose power again.
So is there any update or reply to this?
Please help, I am also stuck on endless loading screen trying to go into “Queen’s Throne room” in Divinity reach. It’s the last place I need for my map completion of this city. Been trying for 3 hours now.
