The people claiming that they don’t have this issue are kind of annoying. Your computer doesn’t magically solve a server-side issue. If the server is only reporting 50 characters total to your computer at any given time, you’re only going to see 50 characters regardless of your specs. If you haven’t noticed this issue its either you’re on an absurdly low population server or you aren’t paying attention. Claim whatever you want, this is the fact of the matter. You’re being limited just as much as everyone else. You could have a fiber optic connection and it wouldn’t be any better with the current setup. Though I suppose that makes calling it a “rendering issue” not quite the right terminology. Its a server-side reporting issue that needs to be fixed ASAP. Its why I’m not currently playing. Pretty much the only reason actually despite having a computer that can run current-gen games smoothly.
Suppose there’s a possibility the people claiming otherwise are just trolls, but either way, claiming the issue is client-side in any form is just plain wrong regardless.
Im a computer noob but how can you tell it’s a server side issue and not a client side network issue, gaming rig issue? Like how can i tell the difference ? I dont work for anet and im guessing you dont either so how can you be very sure the problem is their side?
“Wait”
And also
“Ready?”
“We can just skip these mobs”
Definitely this, “We can just skip these mobs” will always end in one person getting stuck, then another tried to help him out, then another tried to help the helper, and another tried to help the helper of the helper, and wiping out 1 by 1.
Also in dungeons, “I think he/she is afk”
I don’t really understand people’s outlook on this though.
If it’s too hard for them, but not too hard for other people, how is that “broken” or “too hard”. There is no challenge or diversity in a game if everything is “push button, recieve muffin”. They even made the Clocktower with an easy and a hard mode, most people just didn’t catch on. The first chest was easy mode. You make it there, you get the candy corn, you rejoice at doing the easy mode, you leave. If you wanted more of a challenge, you did the rest of the puzzle and got the achievement.
A game needs to have challenges for players that want harder challenges. I can’t understand why the players who can’t complete these challenges think they are being left out. You’re not being left out. You have the same opportunity as everyone else who is able to complete the puzzles.
It’s called an achievement for a reason, because you are achieving something. It may be difficult. It certainly was for me. And that difficulty gives me pride for completing it, and a sense that my hours spent doing so were really worth it. Why is it fair for people to spit on that achievement by calling it “broken”? It’s hard. Yes. That’s the point of a puzzle. It’s not just intended to take “blank” amount of your time, it’s intended to take “blank” amount of your skill or practice.
This is coming from someone who is certainly not an elitist. I spent hours doing the last puzzle, I will likely spend hours doing this puzzle, and I had/will have fun doing it. If you don’t want to spend hours doing it, then don’t. It means you don’t want the achievment, and that’s fine. Every aspect of a game isn’t designed for every player. Every aspect of an event isn’t designed for every player. They try to please everyone, by making content that is set up for different types of players.
The main question is: is it fair?
I don’t know about you, but I have been good this year. Please no coal for me.
I 100% agree with this. If only they put more attractive armor skins on the gem store, I guarantee you I will spend $100 buying all the ones that I like.
Unfortunately ANet will of inevtiably given in to the whiners, well represented in this thread, and will of turned this JP in to a baby mode challenge.
Because everyone deserves to complete all ‘challenges’ otherwise they’re unfair and mean.
God forbid people actually need to anything other than spend time in order to complete something.
There is a difference between not wanting to spend time and practice, and not being able to physically do it.
No matter how much we practice and spend time, we will never be able to complete, because we are just not as talented as you are. You can practice swimming all you want, but unless you’ve got the genes and you’re born with long limbs like Michael Phelps, you will never get the gold medal.
All I’m saying is that introducing easy modes would not hurt all of you that are able to do it on expert mode or normal mode.
If not, then does it mean we cannot enjoy the rewards from the jumping puzzle activities?
So many nice people here welcoming newcomer what a breath of fresh air.
I am also looking forward to this.
He just looks eccentric to me. Not scary.
Well, in the new pictures, he doesn’t look as malicious, as the promotional poster / concept art .
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/media/concept-art/
the 2nd one here.
Possibly the closest armour we have is the Sorrows Embrace set. Mix and match a few pieces into your leather and soon you’ll have one kitten frontline Engineer.
Although, we could do with far more variety, variety is always nice.
That doesn’t work because I don’t want a trenchcoat….
I really miss being a dedicated primary healer, please have this implemented.
Please explain to me townclothes. Can I wear them outside towns and still fight monsters effectively? Or will wearing townclothes remove all my attributes?
My friends and I who are not agile enough, who are slow, and bad at this are completely shut out from enjoying and reaping the rewards of jumping puzzle. Could there be an easier mode for the jumping puzzle? Maybe you can choose “Easy, Normal, Expert” modes to enter. We’ll even take lesser loot, but as long as we get rewards too.
We all spent also hours and hours at the clocktower, but unlike others who are more talented, we never made it.
I am engineer and it is hard in Orr .
To make it easier to navigate while solo, and to make it more attractive for people to come and level there?
I agree,I have posted so many well thought out response. I can take a look, but I think my moderated rate is like 50%? It’s unbelievable.
Maybe a precursor or two?
I may have been a medic or a white mage in my previous life, which is why I am always a healer in MMO. There are many times running dungeons in GW2, where I found myself saying, if only I had more healing skills, I could’ve prevented us from wiping out. In aggregate, I find ourselves dying much more in GW2 than in other MMO dungeons.
I find myself to always want to heal other people, always looking at my other players’ health bars, but cannot do anything about it. Is anyone else missing on being a dedicated primary healer?
For this exact reason is why I have transmutation stones.
So sick of every medium armor piece I get is rogue like. Same with the Human cultural armor.
I agree, I hate everything looking like trenchcoats. By the way, what armor are you wearing for your engineer?
Contributing!
What armor is it the furthest right one?
I agree, Medium armor especially has such minor varieties. Everything looks like a trenchcoat.
This is the first time I will have posted in a forum in a very long time, the last time that comes to memory is two, to three years ago. My question spawns from me being curious about what makes other people stick to an MMO, as I haven’t been able to stick to one for a few weeks for about three years. From Aion, to Rift, to DC Universe Online, to Lord of the Rings Online, to Age of Conan, all the way to SWTOR, I haven’t been able to play it past getting to level cap.
When I think back to the only two MMOs that have been able to hold my attention for years at a time (Those being WoW launch through the first month of Cataclysm, and FFXI) the main reason I kept playing is because going into those games I had friends, and as soon as we all hit cap I had a schedule already in place for me to do end game, and didn’t have to worry about finding people to play with.
What all the other games had in common was I never met a single person while playing the game, I always did everything on my own, and never had a single person to play with. The other reason why I ask this is because right now I am going to try to get back into GW2 after I haven’t played in a few months, because much like those other games I never had a chance to do anything after leveling because I never had a group of people to play with. This time around I am going to try to find a guild, or at least some reason to keep on past leveling, and the main reason I am giving this another chance is because after playing it pretty much no other MMO matches this, it just feels so ahead of it’s peers, like the real next gen MMO.
I have to agree with you, I played both FFXI and WoW, and I sticked around the longest because of friends. FFXI forced you to have friends, because you were forced to party all the way to 75, there was no way getting around it. You build up your reputation, you even know who the good paladins, or white mages, to call on just in case you need their help. You know their names by heart, their personalities, their shortcomings.
In WoW, even though I was not forced to party, I started to have fun with my guild when we were getting raided in Tarren Mill / Southshore area. We defended one another. And then we hear Orgrimmar getting raided, so we all defended it again. So all these activities built me some groundwork for friends, and roots to stay in the game. Also, after the WoTL, we did the 5 man dungeons in Northrend.
Besides FFXI and WoW, you are correct, I cannot stick around any MMOs after getting to the max level. I have tried Aion, Rift, Age of Conan, LOTRO, SWTOR, EQ2 (this was the longest, since I got a nice guild, and we decorated guild hall).
So I would have to say, what makes you stick are friends and the activities that force you to do things together with your friends, and the activities that force you to know your friends well, and not just to carry through a dungeon, but activities that make you say, “hey, I need this guy again to help me with this”
Fiennes is the sexiest guy on Tarnished coast! Do i get a gold too please?
I forgot who posted this image, but apparently the rumor is that Tixx is an evil maniac who transforms baby Quaggans into toys!!
I want that baby quaggan plushie though…
Omg so it’s not just me right? Stop scaring me please!! I think it is some kind of trap.
I’m not surprised if it will be any of those things…. considering how bad we have been this year.
Please put more attractive armor skins in Gem store, and I swear I will spend $100 bucks buying them all if they look good.
I am a bit scared, because from the promotional poster, Toymaker Tixx doesn’t look friendly at all. What do you guys think? I think it doesn’t align with the season of fun and joy. It looks like Toymaker Tixx has a sneaky agenda behind all of this toy-giving events. Maybe he will summon another ancient karka? I don’t know. It’s just scary.
I came from FFXI where getting maximum level, which was 75, though achievable by anyone, it felt like a solid accomplishment. There were a lot of struggles along the way, for example, the limit break quests, where if we didn’t complete, we couldn’t level up beyond that level, even though we continue racking up exp points.
Another obstacle is the Kazham key quest, in order to get to levelling areas level 30+, everyone needs to do this, or else they don’t get access to the zone. You need to get this key, which are located at 3 dungeons strewn across the land, and parties are required.
Another obstacle is the Airship pass, and Chocobo pass, in order to take the main transportation systems. You have to nurture the chocobo and feed it Gyashl green over a time period, or you fail.
Another obstacle is the Artifact armor quests at level 60, where it’s almost mandatory for everyone to excel at parties at level 60+, and to prepare for the final limit break quest at 70. If you don’t complete the limit break at 70, you will never get pass that level.
Another obstacle: that parties were requirements, so we built up friends, and we seek out the same people if they did well in parties. So we rack up reputation of each other, and we knew the names of the best paladins, and the best white mages to seek.
I’m not saying GW2 should be like other games. But in here, getting to 80 doesn’t feel like anything at all, and there were no struggles at all. Does anyone feel this way? I feel like a faceless unknown, and no one knows that I hit 80, and also, mostly because it wasn’t that difficult to get it.
I think games these days should make it harder to get to the top level. Not just by increasing the level caps, but by introducing interesting difficult obstacles along the way, that will make it more about the journey than the destination.
I think it was added because people kept accidentially promoting the wrong person to guild leader and then found they were stuck with no way to undo it. Which opens up a lot more possibilties for the position to be abused.
As everyone else said if you’re worried about someone abusing the position then the solution is to make sure you don’t give them that power.
You don’t need everyone to be able to impliment all decisions for it to be a democracy. You just need to make sure the person who can make the changes is someone you all trust to do what you’ve agreed. Same way it works in a real life democracy – Obama didn’t need everyone who voted for him to go down and drive Bush out of the Whitehouse so he could take over. Everyone (or nearly everyone) trusted the people involved to respect the majority decision and act on it.
If you wanna go this way, then maybe they should implement a system where all the officers, plus the vice leader, can vote unanimously of “no confidence” of the GL, and have the GL removed from his position. Just like in US government if the president is deemed unfit to lead, the cabinet secs can vote to remove him.
Just go find another guild and rep that other guild, eventually everyone in your original guild will leave by themselves.
I would like to post one of my fiance’s screenshots. Apart from the cliff/lemmings thing most people here report, I think this is the dumbest thing I’ve seen on GW2, now or ever.
It’s even amazing that it got built. It takes a few people to build that.
Like others said, I really don’t understand why the founder needs to promote someone else to be his rank anyway, unless he’s leaving and giving it off to someone else. It’s not like there’s not enough ranks. Just have your Vice Pres 1 rank below you, and your officers 1 rank below the VP. No one should ever be at the founder’s rank, because frankly, people change, people get drunk, people have bad days. And you, as the founder, should never put yourself in such compromising situation.
Just wait a couple days, I think ANet has already stated that everyone, whether they attended or not, will get a Karka chest. They are still working on the script, and they don’t have a time frame for it at the moment, but you don’t need to open a ticket.
It worked! _ I couldn’t be happier. Now my Mesmer finally has the right leggings on.
Thanks so much!
Nice, I didn’t know you only wanted the skin, instead of the exotic status.
I was in a similar position and it wasn’t the Chantry, I’d made sure to rule that out via wiki right away.
I made a list of all the maps.
I went through them all and pulled up map to make sure they were complete.
The POI I happened to be missing was quite literally the last place I looked. I know what you’re thinking. "Well of course it was, you stopped looking after you found it, so it had to be the last.
Wrong. This PoI was really on the last map I had to check off.
Talk about spending silver just on travel costs at lvl 80.
Can I ask, was your last map showing 99% before you got that last POI, and wouldn’t that be easy to notice before hand?
The reason I ask, is that many people say, the map already says 100% even though you’re still missing POI or vistas. So what was it showing for you?
I think maps should NEVER show 100% if you haven’t gotten all POIs.
I think the problem is the reward is very very overwhelming, like some people made 400 gold plus from opening 2to 3 karma chests.
This stemmed out from server not being able to handle massive amount of players, so next time please plan a bit better for these events. Also, I feel that it is extremely unfair some people got as much as 4 Karka chests now. They already got 3 from doing their original, plus 2 overflows. And they just received another one in the mail yesterday. And people who participated and didn’t get chest, still haven’t received, and they are at 0 chest.
I don’t mind if everyone gets a chest, but some people get more chests even though they have already opened the original chest during the event itself.
This is quite unfair I feel. Some people receive Karka chest in the mail, even though they attended the event, and actually opened and received their gifts already during the event.
Is it perhaps because the script confuses, some people who already opened the chest, and maybe they attended another overflow server, and that got counted too?
Does anyone else get another chest even though you have opened the original one?
Arent there 4 wvw maps?
Thanks, that was it. There was a small sliver of map fog along the southeast corner of Queensdale. I wandered over there, opened up Demongrub Pits, and my achievement completion flashed on the screen. Here I thought all along that it was related to points of interest and other map items. My bad.
I don’t understand. There are no point of interest at demongrrub pits. Does it mean map completion of 100% does not mean you are done with the area?
What is that big thing in thw 2nd wallpaper?
I agree, it is hard enough to find groups for fractal, and I’ve had bad experiences so I refrain from doing fractals recently.
Pistol/Pistol works best with carrion armor (pow/vit/cond).
You may want to switch 1 or 2 pieces out for crit/vit/cond.For WvW non-zerging, bomb kit & slick shoes + random elxir are superb choices.
For traits
-the tier 2 alchemy ‘elixirs remove conditions’ is a must.
-the tier 3 firearms ‘pistol shots pierce’ makes sure you always hit your target
-the tier 1 explosives ‘bombs have larger explosive radius’ is a must tooyou can freely choose how to spend your remaining 10 points and the non-specified traits.
I’d use a different build for dungeons though, but I don’t do dungeons with my engineer.
@second post, It’s really useless to pick the V explosives trait on P/P with a bomb kit, as you can keep burning up 100% anyways. If I’d use the same traits & gear as you I’d pick P/S, since with 50% crit chance, fury & that trait, the offhand pistol is made useless.
Thank you, so maybe I should change the explosives trait to the larger radius trait one then.
I don’t like pistol shield because It doesn’t do enough damage for me, so I’d like to stick with P/P.
Thank you BP fighters for fighting, so my friends and i were able to stroll around and get our WvW map completion to 100% in peace.
Who was it that said “Some people have to fight, so others can enjoy the scenery.” Thanks again, we really appreciate it!
Yes it worked perfectly for me. But I have heard others having issues because after ordering , they did not receive. Make sure your mailbox is free and not full.
Please consider to do some fixes for these, there are so many I cannot list them all. For example, many pants are clipping to show outside my trenchcoats. If they’re different colors, they look so ugly, I minimize this issue by having them the same color. I know it’s low in your priorities, but please have your art team take some time to address. It is really ruining immersion, especially for me who like my characters to look good in his/her armors.
