Engineers have one of the best downstates for teamfights. Sometimes people its not all about you. But hey, with that self res from elixir r you can just get up with those soothing vapors.
It was bad durring beta when skills 1 and 3 did no damage for the most part, it was impossible to rally of a kill in pve with it. It is now just fine.
What makes it great? Lets see in all aspects of the game
pve: Engineer down state is decent when it comes to pve. It can help u to pull in weak enemies or a huge explosion from 3 can do some major damage in a dungeon
pvp: It is extremely weak in pvp. Its been discussed above
wvwvw: It can be alright in very rare circumstances. Overall though engineer has a very weak wvwvw down state. Ive played both eng and ele in wvwvw extensivley and it is very easy to see which is the stronger.
Engineers damage is fine. I had no problem leveling easily. I recommend the rifle, very legit to solo mobs. There are other problems with the eng but dps isnt one of them
Guardians no doubt also have a bad downed state. A warrior is fine thanks to just his number 3 skill.
Rangers guarenteed bleed is nice because well you know your doing damage. I LOVE chilling targets about to kill me. or inflicting invunerability on them so I can hurt them more after I die

Before the mist form change ele down state was horrible, until a downed state is that bad it is not terrible.
We have an interrupt on 2 and our 1 skill does decent damage and has a nice chance to chill.
As for hardly ever getting to use explosion? Well guess what other classes hardly ever get to use their 3 skill either.
You know how most 1v1 fights against downed people go?
Warrior, dodge hammer then finish them. No vengeance, hell even if you get hit with the hammer you have enough time to stand back up and finish them.
Thief, start finisher and when they teleport away you just cancel walk up to them and finish them anyway.
Mesmer, stop attacking wait for the real one to appear(hint: the one with the big red dot above their head) then finish them.
Ele, start finisher so they pop mist form then cancel it and follow them. Finish them as soon as mist form ends.
They don’t seem so different to;
Engineer, start finisher then cancel it and dodge the pull then finish them.
TL:DR Engineer down state skills are on the same level as every other class.
No. Me and a warrior had a great fight. We downed me and he had just a sliver of life. I used my 2 to stop his stomp and then spammed 1. I couldnt get his tiny sliver of life down. why? Because i stacked chill and vunerability on him and did NO damage to him.
Also I would be fine with the pvp aspect if it was somehow decent in pve or wvwvw. Mist form is incredible for wvwvw. Our 2 can be used to pull someone down but thats extremely rare and we will still die from being unable to move. The pve aspect is decent at best thanks to a strong level 3.
Overall our 1 skill needs to be changed at bare minimum. I would also change the 2nd skill.
This is a joke thread, right? Engineer downed skills are amazing. They probably have the best set of downed skills in the game. The 1 skill does massive damage and they have twice the disables to prevent stomps and/or neutralize incoming damage.
Try playing any other class other than the engineer so you can appreciate how good their downed skills are.

Ive always known it has been horrible, but you really dont realize how bad it is intil your in a down state trying to kill someone else in a down state. Its not even close how bad other characters can murder us in the down state. I would be ok with that if we had a unique down state skill but we dont even have that. We have a piss poor 1 skill, a horrible 2 skill (really we want to PULL the people trying to kill us) and a decent level 3 in which you rarley get to use.
I just ran from a good fight because I knew I would lose the down state war. Im not saying engineers should win, but we should be able to do SOMETHING.
Also it isnt even good in the pve aspect or wvwvw aspect. Its just bad.

i wonder , what effort you put intro wvw ? you go sleep at 7 Pm and wake at 4 am to cap something in that 3 hours you play?
you spend all your gold on siege machines? add 3 rams to rush towers or 2 golems?
Wait , what skills we talk about ? to use or not wall of reflection in 40 vs 40 ? or really what skill , battles are wonned by organization and informations not skills.

There are 3 sides on every map and 4 maps where you can play. If you are outmanned on all 4 maps then you should go down 1 tier not progress
First off you should really work on your grammer second of all you dont know me nor do i know you . fact i dont go to bed at 7pm sorry and i dont wake up at 4 am , i am on the GoM server where the population is low due to guilds leaving because we keep fighting the same servers for over a month now . i am guessing that you are on a big server probably one of the top ten and all you do is zerg and there is no skill involved . i read some of your posts and seems like you do is troll and argue . if you dont know what your talking about then you probably should not post . i am not here to argue i am here posting trying to figure out what anet plans on doing about the low server population cause thet do exist . we beat bp before and now all the sudden people stop playing wvw cause we keep fighting the same servers and leave the server , bp gets flooded with more guilds and people making it more populated then ours now . all and all there is a such thing as low populated servers and gom is one of them .
If he is in the top 10 then they prob dont zerg. Im in a medium tier server and we are highly organized a good portion of the time.
Anyhow, the eng is very fun but has some issues that should of been adressed. The lack of autoattack on kits is absurd no idea who didnt think of that but they are adressing that. In terms of kits, kits feel rushed and sometimes weak. Alot of variety but rather weak. Also engineers have a lack of range in like wvw besides grenades.
Overall the eng is fun but sorta “feels” like a rushed class. still fun and recommend tho
Yes and no. I wouldnt mind the rifle build we currently have if we got some sort of long range weapon (besides grenades). Its weird that a warriors get to outrange us.
strange. I have a gtx 670 and 4.2 gh i5 and my desktop runs great. It slows down in world v world but always stays in the 30s or high 20s unless theres a hundred people on the screen then it drops to low 20s
I run a gtx 670 and in only certain places do I find that my performance isnt quite as high as it could be. In lions arch my frames drop way more than they should.
I try to play with vsync off but man o man i notice tears bad.
It used to be worse during beta. It still could use some work. The number 2 skill doesnt make sense. I love pulling minions toward me when im down /slap to my forhead
The only way its useful if somehow a player is running away and u want to catch him….whats the chances of that.
88c is hot but not unbearable for your graphics card. I saw the card on my laptop (now I play on a desktop) reach up to low 90s. Many cards have a threshold of high 90s to the low 100s.
However what I would do is go into the fan control and manually control your fan. Before I did that my gpu reached temperatures up to 86C because the fan never really reached max. Now I dont go above 73c and usually 50-60 unless I push it to the max. (I have a gtx 670 btw)
If you are going to use it for primarily just gaming I would def go with the i5 people have suggested in this thread. I have one and overclocked it to 4.2 and it runs amazingly.
I would also listen to suggestions on the ram
THe 7870 is a great gaming card. You should be able to play the game on almost max with very playable frame rates.
the 7870 is a fantastic card. or a 660 ti. With either of those cards you can prob run the game in full settings with few slow downs.
Also I would get a i5 3750k as people have suggested. It is all you need for gaming and you can always overclock it (long as your motherboard permits). I have a i5 3750k (overclocked to 4.2) and it performs amazingly.

I have a gtx 670 (zotac) and The game runs rather well. I have not been looking at % usage but I also feel like the game should run slightly better than it has been. However, it might be that we need to wait for drivers from nvidia.
Areas Ive noticed that the game lags or doesnt perform very well is areas like lions arch.
Edit: Ive also noticed that this game is heavily cpu dependent. You have a good cpu so idk. My cpu is a i5 overclocked to 4.2
I have a gtx 670 and it generally runs pretty well on everything max (except I have it on native instead of super sampling). I maintain 60 frames in most places (vertical sync on), and in heavy fights it will drop to 40s or 50s. In huge fights it drops to high 20s or 30s. In some areas I will notice that I cannot maintain the 60 frames very well and have a lot of turn camera lag. Lions arch is horrible for me and I have no idea why.
