Animation at normal node – 3 taps, 3 ore
Animation at rich node – 12 taps, 10 ore

Rich nodes, as we know, have 10 ore. The game animation is designed to do 3 taps per click. So – on that 10th piece of ore – we have 2 extra mining animations against a depleted node. If you are pating attention you can manually force your toon to stop after the 10th tap.

I’d rather the rich node only has 9 ore or bump it to 12. The # of ore ought to synch with the animation for mining. Its minor but breaks immersion.

Mat sellers at crafting stations are often just barely out of reach from a player who is crafting. Its annoying to have to stop, turn around, walk 1 ft to talk to the guy to get more thread or whatever, then reverse to get back to the craft station.

Either make it possible for us to buy mats directly from the crafting sttaion (like vending machine) or position the NPCs close enough you can talk with them without needing to move.

Why does it require a blue harveting tool to farm a carrot in a high level zone whereas a copper tool farms that same carrot in a starter zone?

A carrot is a carrot.

Clearly you want to make some of the basic items available in high level zones so we don’t have to go to starter zones to get them. Kudos. But could you at least hand out more carrot’s per swipe of that blue item? The cost differential is pretty big and every time I get a carrot from one of the rooted nodes its a waste of $ as that same carrot costs me less than 1c to farm in a 1-15 zone.

Carrot is not the only item where this occurs – just 1 of many.

@Silicate – my toon has been caught inside parts of structures several times due to bugs in the game. In all cases I could not get out without porting. Its possible that happened here.

Likewise – we faced the same thing tonight in wvwvw by Yak’s players on at least 2 occassions, preventing us from capping supply depots till we figured out what was going on.

interesting boss mechanics for a start. compare to WOW and old Naxx. All we get in this game is large CC fights and tank’n’spank fights where survival is not all that important as you just respawn and keep fighting. Compare to the differernt boss mechanics in Naxx where you actually needed a strategy, team work, etc.

Two mechanics – mobs and massive HP pools. Boring.
Drops/Loot – horrible.
Time required – long.
Times killed/repairs – relatively high.

What is the value proposition? To me these places have negative utility. I can make more $ and get better drops with near 0 deaths farming DEs and dragons. The only thing you get from instances is the gems – like those are so special given the armor is same stats as crafted gear…

Died exactly on top of a WP. Port costs for rez to same WP should be 0 – I am already on the WP so why must I pay 1s39c (in this case) to move to the WP… which I am already on.

There should be a capability to rez for 0 cost if you die within a certain distance of a WP – say within 5 ft.

Take a page from WOW – instance “gems” and honor badges etc – its all just currency like gold. So why must it take up bag and bank space – worse still, gems are not generic and are specific to the instance so you need even more space to store these.

Treat all as currency like gold which a player carries without using a bag space for each or requiring a bank space for each.

Sure – I could expand my bank with real money, but I should not have to do to just to accomodate this design. WOW came to the same conclusion after enough players voiced their dislike for all the badges they had to store.

Hate to tell you this but there is nothing fair about wvw given the way its implemented. Servers are very unbalanced (in terms of quality players and 24 hr wvw presence capabilities) due to the random/ad hoc way many players and guilds decided which server to select. Teams with heavy Oceanic presence benefit and sit atop the leader board – not because it was 100% earned but because they can dominate the night cap, wrack of hugh scores, and never look back.

In essence – its “handed to them” due to the way wvw is set up.

Many players had no true idea how Anet’s wvwvw system would work, nor did we have foreknowledge of where oceanic, US, and EU players would land.

What we got is a cluster%$#@. Servers like Henge have a large Oceanic presence allowing them to run wvw ops 24×7. Servers like Sanctum (SoR) have mostly US guilds and very little international presence, time boxing most serious wvw into US prime time.

How do these 2 compete? Answer – they can’t and never will in the current system.

The total design is flawed and short of tearing it down and rebuilding something that works OR forceably moving guilds and people around to balance the servers – you will never have a workable wvwvw system. There will always be the haves vs the have nots.

Anet sold people on a game with good pvp – people of homogenious servers are not getting that. And since no fix is in the works – the only option is to allow players to move around. So of course servers like Henge get new players coming in – serious pvp players want to be on a server that is competitive.

Anet built the model. It does not work. There is no elegant fix. And thats how we got here and why free transfers are still the order of the day.

Over time we will end up with two types of server and population – those interested in pvp and those who are mostly pve cause they can’t compete and lost all their good pvp players to other servers.

Playing WvWvW on a marginal server is bad enough. Now the game is major bugged out and players you fight and the NPCs are invisible 3/4 of the time. Just came from EB – can’t see jack squat. Only way to target anyone is tab – target and look for the red arrow over their head.

Entire guild got the same nonsense. We all left EB in disgust.

Your last patch was big on nerfing professions and fail attempts to stop bots with DR code. Perhaps you can spend time on fixing/preventing this kind of game breaking bug instead??

@Coolmoos – I only go into wvw anymore to try to complete world explorer. SoR is never going to be competitive in the current system. Look at the guilds on SoR – all of the larger guilds are US guilds. Compare to a server like Henge where you have several large Oceanic guilds.

Under the current wvwvw design a server needs a 24 hr presence in borderlands and EB to be successful. Otherwise you get rolled overnight and spend the rest of the time playing catch-up – and that is a no win proposition as the issue compounds every night.

So a player can choose to wvw for “fun” knowing they will be roflstomped with many repair bills OR they can opt out – which is what players on these uncompetitive servers are doing. Over time anyone serious about wvw will be forced to server transfer to a server that has the balance of US, EU, and Oceanic guilds.

SoR has nearly no oceanic presence so we are night capped every week by any server we face that has a large wvw oceanic presence. FOO guild is doing this to us this week.

Short of a total redesign or forced redistribution of oceanic players across US servers (anet will do neither of these) SoR is always going to be a 2nd tier server in wvw.

it will take an overt act by anet to redistribute oceanic players across US servers to effect any real change. Anet will not do this, so we are left with this … design … to deal with.

Over time the better PVP players will move to the better PVP ranked servers. You will be left with a two-tier wvwvw – those in the top half who battle for the lead and those without a 24 hr presence in the bottom half to fight over the crumbs

NSP has a large oceanic guild – FOO – that night caps. This is not going to be an even match. SoR is very generic US guild based server without significant oceanic presence.

similar to TSW – hit 80 and you can look forward to running dungeons over and over, exploring the world (which is just a grind and a time sink) and then be required to spend countless hours in a wvwvw system that is badly designed such that servers with a 24 hr in-game presence (Oceanic + US mix) rofl stomp servers without large Oceanic guilds.

And the kicker is you can’t complete world explorer without doing the pvp. The only choice is to server transfer twice in a week to pick up all the missing crap you can’t get when your server can’t compete.

So – where are the ppl you ask? In Dungeons and wvwvw – just like what happened with WAR and is happening with TSW.

This model is fail.

Sitting at 95% world. Short of tranfer twice to servers facing mine in a week I don’t see how you expect me to get all the remaining SPs, VPs, and POIs. Cause server transfer is what its going to take.

So to earn an achievement I grind for weeks and now must do 2 server transfers. Is that really your design?

Problem 1 – the cost to buy gold legally is prohibitive. Do the math.
Problem 2 – the game economy leaves many players nearly broke most of the time, creating demand

Fix the economy. Stop nickle and diming people to death for porting, repairs in wvwvw, and improve loot drops in dungeons. Address the demand side the the issue and gold sellers won’t have a market.

One of the things I really like about GW2 and similar games is they are alt friendly. It can get dull running the same toon every day, plus its nice to see the other aspects of the story, other zones, etc. by running alts.

I have 5 toons – 1 an 80, the others between 20-30.

That brings me to the world explorer accomplishment. I wish this was account based rather than toon based.

This has nothing to do with difficulty or time needed to achieve this – its a major undertaking and should take time.

My issue is my main lvl 80 toon must run all the content in all the zones to achieve this. Yet I want to progress my alts through this same content. So rather than having new, fresh content for a Norn alt for example (my main is human) I am running content I’ve already seen.

This was an unfortunate design decision. When I played TSW (beta through 1 month after release when I finished all content) I lamented the fact the game is not alt friendly – start a new toon and you do 100% the same content as your first toon.

So GW2 is more alt friendly but in this case its also similar to TSW in that I will be running the same content multiple times.

I would prefer a design which allows each alt to contribute their heart completions, vistas, POIs etc. towards a global explorer accomplishment. That would eliminate the need to run content over and over.

I realize there are other things going on here – pre-req for legendary weapon creation for example – so I don’t expect this will ever change. Just wanted to toss my 2 cents in. Anything we can do to keep alt play fresh would be a nice benefit.

It’s just another part of the cycle. “Prime time” ,the way people talk about it, implies that there are moments when people should be inactive or they’re “dishonorable or not as good. Imo, every minute of WvWvW is prime time.”

Its clear how you really feel about this calling this a blame game. I don’t believe you get the point.

SoR, with almost no Oceanic presence, and with people at school or work, has a natural “prime time” when player pop will rise, flatten, then fall. This will match the US school and work day. To be generous I’ll assume player pop is consistent across US timezones though I have no data on this. So ultimately we’ll see player pop rise from about 3 PM eastern through the day and drop off maybe around midnight pacific. The rest of the time we are asleep or at work or school.

Now look at a server like Henge. With a large oceanic presence they have a population curve which ramps during SoR’s downtime as well as one that ramps during our peak time. Two complementary population groups which give them game presence 24×7. Servers like SoR cannot match this unless we all skip work, school, and play all night long.

This should be pretty self evident. It is not a “blame game.”

SoR has almost no oceanic presence. As such we will never be competitive under the current Anet process for doing WvW. You can expect SoR participation to drop over time – getting killed every week gets very old and the better WvW players will soon learn they need to transfer elsewhere to get a good wvw experience.

The other might we came onto WvW in force and held our own in prime time. Came back the next day and score was something like DH 42K, us 24K. Yeah, so we fell 24K while we slept…

Nice. Motivation to even come back into WvW near zero.

As it stands today – the player population on a given server has a direct impact on WvW for that server and its ability to compete. US servers with high populations of Asia/Oceanic guilds have an unbeatable advantage over servers that are mainly US-centric (like Sanctum) because these servers can hit WvW in force 24×7 versus a more generic US population server which has a huge participation valley during off peak hours in US.

How is Anet going to address this? Some sort of balancing is called for. If not – servers who constantly get smashed in WvW will lose most/all of their decent WvW players to servers with a mix of Asia/Oceanic/US players. This will only compound the situation – the strong get stronger and the weak – don’t even bother playing WvW any longer as they have no chance of climbing the standings and if they did it would just be a roflstomp for someone up the list.

On Sanctum. Getting spanked like we do every week by 24 hr servers who steal everything while we sleep.

Beautiful? I think not. FUBAR. Our server is always matched against oceanic or other large geography servers that have game presence 24×7 which means we will never win events and will always sink in the standings.

Not my idea of beautiful – play enough of these losing matches and people stop going in queue.

agree. so there I am – running through cursed shores – and something hits me. I am not impeeded, don’t care to fight as I want to go from A to B, and one would think self preservation would allow me to go faster rather than slower. But no – I become a snail. And meanwhile the enemy speeds up like shot from a cannon to catch me. Just plan fail. I usually just keep going, use some evade rolls, etc. to get away but its annoying in any case.

Agree this is annoying. I suspect its because the phantom is all in the enemies mind, so dead enemy = no more phantom.

I’ve not played the class long enough to know if we get this power later – but what would be a good change (or upgrade) is if your illusions impact everyone in an area so all see them – then you can justify the thing staying up.

1. Reduce cost to port or, at minimum, stop scaling cost to level. Its annoying to pay a few copper on one toon and a few silver on another.

2. TP after death should be free OR a way to ghost back to your corpse. Its a double penalty on death – porting and repairs.

3. When a player is exiting story mode, especially once lvl 80, they have usually entered their story from a “questionable” location. Its not fun to be ganked by multiple NPCs immediately on exit from story mode. This happens quite a bit in Cursed Shore. Player should have some kind of grace period when exiting from story mode. I’ve been knocked down to 1/2 health before and had no real option but to walk (because of course your movement is impaired at this point) and evade away from the mob.

4. Fix Trading Post. Clicking the ‘show available only’ button does nothing – I still see a lot of stuff no one is selling. Next – add filter for ‘usable’ – when I search for items I don’t need to see plate mail if I am a cloth user etc. Right now its generic and you are forced to weed through it all.

5. Vistas and Skill Pt events should not be at the end of a jump puzzle. Shattered Wall comes to mind – forced to endure a jump puzzle to get to the vista and SP. Not everyone is in love with jump puzzles, yet we all do want to complete zones.

6. I’d like to be able to email stuff from 1 of my toons to another. You gave us very little bank space in hopes we’d spend real $ to buy more. I don’t want to. Mailing stuff from one toon to another is pretty standard stuff (for example – a dye).

7. Killing champions – especially once you are lvl 80 – ought to reward the player. It takes time. Yet many times all we get is 1s84c, no loot or trash on the corpse, and no chest. So why bother killing the champion?

8. Dungeon runs take a long time and rewards do not match the time investment. I gain more $ and loot doing a farm circuit in level 75-80 or 80 zones, in less time and with fewer deaths, than doing dungeons.

9. Running everywhere gets very old. Mounts please.

10. Make Dyes account based versus toon based.

11. How about a Junkman profession or a Gatherer profession (in the generic sense)? Ability to build salvage kits and gathering tools, enhanced abilities to get better mats from salvage and gathering etc.

12. Cooking should be an auxillary skill set versus counting as one of your 2 active crafting skills.

14. People like being pirates but pirate gear is of a specific type such that toons like my necro can’t use the gear. How about pirate gear for all?

15. Complete the story and we get … level 78 greens? Please – thats just insulting.

17. Bugged Skill Pts – tired of going back to prior zones daily to see if the broken SP preventing zone complete has been fixed. Allow us to petition for GM to toggle complete for these. The SPs are constantly bugging out and its annoying. One of my toons is blocked in 2 maps from SPs right now (last thing needed to complete those zones).

18. WvW needs tuning. You match servers based on ranking. You need to account for time zones. Server I am on faces server in Oceanic who appear to have a 24 hr server (due to the large geography of players on that server) such that all keeps are reinforced and defended and we really have no good options to play. So we zerg around looking for an undefended keep on the outskirts. Very boring and we will never improve our ranking in this way.

19. Get rid of repair costs in WvW. Considering point 18 above I refuse to even play WvW right now. We die a lot thanks to #18, get no rewards, and get nice $ sink on the back end. No thanks.

20. Feed Trahearne to Zaitan please. Leafy is squishy and gets on my nerves.
