i only noticed all the fps problems yesterday when i tried to do some fraps recording.
i just now figoured out that having shadows and reflexions set to OFF (thx avelos)+ character model limit to lowest… does a HUGE difference (i didnt think it would be that big)
gives me like good fps during wurm and tequatl. its very nice like this, i guess when i do overclocking it will end up perfect. no videocard needed.

sup guys, my PC setup is now exactly 2y old, i have the following specs:
mainboard: ASRock Z68 Pro3
cpu: i5-2500k
ram: 8gb
current videocard: HD 6950
with this setup i can run gw2 on max graphics…as long as things stay calm (towns, regular dungeons etc).
but when i do stuff like tequatl or wurm (50-100 ppl on screen) where kittentons of spells fly around i can’t afford max graphics, so i usually change to lowest.
what i want to do: play these encounters on max graphics + record with fraps + have good fps.
anyone able to do that and can tell me what setup they have ?
any suggestions on how much power the video card would need ?

that could be true. but imo thats very stupid of the devs. if i had created such a nice place i would want everyone to see it. most ppl do the jp just once and if they get there at the wrong time, it won’t impress.
really weird, i have the same settings that you have and just now when i checked the cave again, it looks super shiny like on my old screenshots and yours… but an hour ago, with exactly those settings, it looked like dead…. very strange..
Hi guys, I am just a bit confused about the gw2 performance.
Since one of the monthly requires JPs to be done, I decided to check out some JPs that I remembered as fun / fancy.
So I went to chaos crystal caverns cause I remembered it being that one JP that had the greatest looks. when I got there I was kinda disappointed. I wasn’t sure if I remembered it better than it was or if something had changed. then I checked out my screenshots from january and this is what i found:
wtf… all the shinyness has gone… it doesn’t look anything like it used to look…
it was such a shiny jp and it looks like dead now…
has something changed in gw2 overall graphics or was the jp itself changed ?
or is this supposed to be part of some living story since there are 2 dead golems that i can’t find on my old screenshot
- signet of midnight makes it very easy -> blinding the phantoms and you can just run into them, making them explode without getting any dmg
- blink -> life saver from shadowfall
- iDefender -> distract liadri, can soak quit some dmg, giving you time to orient. also iDefender + sword3 gives you 2 illusions so ether feast is a bit more effective when you need to heal, or get those extra 2 seconds on your F4 invulnerability. i dont like using focus5 or GS4 just to have a better heal, those should be saved for doing dmg only
since a few days i cant loot the chest, no matter what.
it keeps telling me “due to late start blabla practice round” and i dont receive a chest.
doesnt matter whether i have been on the server for 5 rounds or just joined, i dont get chests. is this just me ?
I tried a few different strategies and here’s what worked for me, this was pre any patch so it should still work.
- Pick Boast as your signature move
- Always bluff… if he interrupts it with a belch, belch back and drink water in that order.
- This should keep your own health from dropping as fast as his, with luck you’ll interrupt a heal or two and you’ll go into the next phase with a big advantage.
- Eventually he hits a threshold where he’ll start spamming his signature move.
- Use belch, drink water, drink in that priority unless you can get a bluff in.
- Once you get close to 3,000 or so health use boast.
- Try to time your abilities so you use belch at below 20% health to do a large amount of damage.
If he gets too many belches, or your losing health much faster than him just surrender and try again. It will take some luck but it’s possible and this strategy is simple enough that you can spam games until you get lucky.
i can confirm this tactic! i just beat adnul 2minutes ago.

for some reason i beat maddie easily but adnul is a hard nut. i have no idea how to beat him. i had him down to low health once but his signature is just too much
-try to get your graphic options as low as you need to have a stutterfree gameplay, otherwise you’ll have a bad time at this mario kart.
-if you are in 1st place, try to always have your spell no.6 ready, it saves your from attacks.
-if you dont have your spell 6 ready, grab a BLUE random box. (since its not random and gives you spell no.6)
-red random boxes are for offensive stuff. in 1st place you just get fake items to drop behind you. place them in narrow gaps.
-and most important: grab blue boxes at the start of the race !!!! if you get spell no. 4 its pretty much GG! spell no. 4 is like a golden mushroom in mario kart ! it gives you a great buff on spell no.2. for a few secs. so after you activate 4, spam 2 as many times as possible!(but make sure you have a straight course ahead) combine 2 and 1 to dodge obscacles and launch even further.
just do as i do in the video, i won like 15games in a row and also got the sun catcher skin from sanctum sprint.
i had a winstreak of 10 games just now.
all i can say: be lucky at start and roll a 4 from the blue bag. win the game. every time.

bad thing: i have exams this week and next week, and the 3rd week from now i am on holidays….. do you think it will still be ingame by the end of july/beginning of august?
However, I did not get any dive achievement as far as I can tell.. no pop-up or anything.. I am only at 6/10 tiers so I wonder whether I should have had any alert.. I didn’t check the number beforehand -_-
your counter gets +1.
you never get a notification for +1 on any achievmentcounter in this game, you only get notification if you hit the tier limit only way to keep track on diving counter is to check the counter whenever you see goggles and check again after performing the goggle dive.

but now i got a logitech g600 that solves everything

i just noticed it counts if you enter the start of a jump puzzle without even finishing the puzzle itself. now its really easy to finish this part of the monthly, thought it would take ages
ok i´m not at my gw2 pc right now, but i will deliver screenshots that prove that a r12 dude linked me the HoM pvp-fiery dragon sword. no way he could have used a tiger token.
oh before i forget, today i was able to destroy my own trebuchet. i got ejected (happens quit often) and then i couldnt reenter the trebuchet, i could only destroy it (“enemy trebuchet destroyed” it said) and then after repairing it i could use it again.
is the trebuchet going to stay this way or you haven’t had the time to fix it ?
i’m talking about the camera angle which has been changed from 3rd person treb view to 3rd person character view
for the first time i bought something from the gemstore (i had some gems in spare after getting a characterslot + bigger storage). i got a wintersday mystery box, but where can i pick it up after purchasing ? its not at the tradingpost to pick up and not in my inventory either but it is listed in my recent purchases.
Lol wait so, you havent played since the trebuchet got “messed up” because the trebuchet is “messed up”? Or its coincidental, because I mean, thats like the most minor bug ever in any video game of all existence. Its extremely easy to hit the treb, if its causing you so much trouble you dont want to play then you are doing something wrong, not the dev’s.
its coincidental after that day when it got messed up i was really busy with other stuff and had no time for gw2. i wouldt quit the game because of treb lol

videotitle tells the date when it got messed up. hitting targets wont be a problem for advanced players, such as me, but its still a pain that you can’t see the yard between clocktower and treb when targeting outer capture points. you can basically not see if someone is coming for you or not.

you talking rubbish. knowing the angles is fine but you have no overview on the battlefield itself. if you are aiming at windmill/mansion you cant see anything else, check my video above.
i was shocked when i played trebuchet today. as ppl stated before:
-camera doesnt zoom out but zooms in -> i have to manually zoom out but its still weird.
-i get ejected from trebuchet at random
on the screenshot you can see that the treb is not in the middle of the screen. if you are not experienced at using the trebuchet, you will have a difficult time. i wouldnt mind about the whole change but the main problem is: one can’t see ppl coming towards the trebuchet like before.
