The average consumer isn’t going to know the difference. Someone brand new to the game thinks it is. I had friends come into the game from GW1 and then quit because there was no actual GvG. No leaderboards, no game modes for it, nothing. So what did they do? Went back to playing WoW, and climbing the ladder there. If the theme park is showing how lackluster it is, the other game modes need to shine. Game modes that weren’t implemented for whatever “lore” reason is just you trying to justify the developers completely dropping the ball. I never said it was a KEY part of the game. I said it was a part of the game that should have always been there, considering it was there in the previous iteration. So whatever “lore” arguments people make are irrelevant. The consumers bought a sequel expecting it to build up the previous game, not strip it down for “lore” reasons. So call it what it is, and stop defending the developers. They need to hear how ridiculous their design decisions are, not players praising their laziness with really poor “lore”. The expansion better blow us away or I’m going to flip a table! I DONT CARE IF THEIR ARE COOKIES ON IT!<

Yeah this is pretty old news. The process hasn’t changed all that much, even after the nerfs. :p

What I did was set my A and D keys to strafe left and right. This makes it a lot easier to place AoE skills and stay on the move while releasing left click. It helped my game play a lot.

There are guilds.

They go to war. Against each other, against strangers, against themselves, against dragons.

Don’t overthink it. MMORPGs almost always have guilds, and they always fight something, whether it’s as a complete guild, as parties, or individually. The name is not a promise that your guild is going to square off on the battlefield against another guild in a dedicated game mode.

They worked the name into the lore, and into the original as a game mode. (Although, again, 8v8 is less what I would picture from the name than WvW is.) While it’s possible one dictated the other, and the name of the game itself, it’s more likely it all came together as one big jumble of ideas during the development.

That’s irrelevant. The fact still remains that a lot of players come into the game and see that it isn’t available in the first place, but was in the first game. The problem isn’t lore or why they decided to turn into lore, the problem is they took something out for no reason. Something people expected to be in the sequel. No one gives a kitten about the lore, what they wanted was an improved GW1, and what they got was completely different. THAT’s the problem. Not what’s considered lore.

With that thinking, the Devs can just take some more stuff out of the game and just say “Oh it’s part of the lore now! You see, the dragons didn’t like it so…yeah. No more game mode name here but it happened a lot in the past so it’s still there in the lore, right? Everyone’s happy we did that right? Just because we’re calling the new expansion ‘Guild Wars 2: Name of removed game mode here’ doesn’t mean it’s a problem, right?”

So I guess you’re one of the players that enjoy developers kittenting all over their fan base. That’s cool.

Guild Wars is the universe, the name was never based off of player guilds, and the actions that took place in the original Guild Wars are what shaped the world we have, you have a baseless argument.

LFG is your friend. Post exactly what you’re looking for and those people usually join. Most of the time I just randomly drop into a group, run the dungeon and leave when it’s done. It’s usually a very quick and painless affair.

If you need someone to run with, feel free to drop me a line. I don’t mind explaining things when needed, and the dungeons are pretty easy all and all.

That makes 4 Dusk drops on an account with less than 1k achievement points.

Someone want to explain that one to me? My main account has yet to get a precursor to drop. It’s not a broken system though, you’re right. :p

Ive noticed something similiar too, with the account i bought for my boyfriend to play with when hes not playing WOT. Hes already getting incredible drops and he hasnt even played that long..

My account? best thing ive gotten is a mini tequatl.

My friend abandoned his old account when he noticed his new one was getting all sorts of crazy loot drops. Not precursors mind you, but exotics from every single champion kill? Yeah, he’s already done with his collections, has less then 2k AP on the account. My 8k+ account? Yeah, I have had like 4 collection items drop. Ever.

So when Anet says there isn’t a problem and it’s “completely random” seems a bit misleading. My new account shouldn’t be making thousands of gold from doing practically nothing. I worked my kitten off on my main account, but it has THE kittentiest RNG. I’m thinking about just sticking to my new account because having a vet account is pretty pointless in this game. More so when you have kitten RNG on it.

Yeah I have a feeling I’m totally not going to get a key. Been in Silverwastes since the event started, and I’m just getting burned out at this point. I don’t even know how many breach events I’ve done, but I’ve only seen one person find a key since yesterday.

I think I’m just gonna buy skins, take a break and come back when the expansion actually comes out. If I keep this up, I’m just going to burn myself out to the point of just quitting for a solid year again >_<

My charr and his jetpack

My charr warrior Kilgorn Siegebreak. Been playing him since early release. Haven’t changed his color scheme since I got the molten jetpack so he’d always match.

I switched from a Razer Naga. I have large hands, and the bigger mouse design of the G600 was amazing! I have a GW2 profile setup on mine with each button doing what I need it to. The ring button is my burst while the 6 button is my dodge since I use healing signet and never pop it. It’s a great mouse and it’s a steal at that price. You can make profiles for each character if you want, as you can switch profiles as needed. Like, on my guardian the ring button is my dodge and 6 is my heal.

I’m sad my warrior can’t have fast weapon swaps and might on swap anymore. :\

Not a HUGE deal, but it is annoying.

I returned a couple of months ago, and I’ve been having a blast! My toon doesn’t look like a garbage can in SPVP anymore, and the reward tracks are great! Lots of stuff to run around and do, and the best part is…I don’t need to play it every day to feel like I’m getting my money’s worth out of it like I did with WoW.

Also, no gear treadmill anywhere near like WoW. Also, like someone said, F2P. Play when you want, how you want. Don’t like it, can always check back later.

I don’t see any issues with poison as it’s one of the more lesser conditions for me to worry about. Mesmers tear me apart with confusion if Im not careful, but it’s a hard counter to my particular playstyle, however most other conditions are not. If you notice a lot of conditions flying and you can’t deal with it, play a class that can or a class/build that counters it. SPVP is all about counters. Yeah there are classes that can 5 v 1 but it’s always hilarious seeing a thief one shot them from stealth. Is that unfair?

Wait what? How is expense brought into it when you can farm all the mats for free….? You even get a free vision crystal from a few achievements, you also get ascended mats from the loyalty chest at the end of the month. There is Silverwastes where ascended mats drop like rain in Seattle, boss trains that do the same. There are so many avenues in game which you can actually play that provide free mats, but if just sounds like you don’t want to do them. :\

I really feel that Legendaries need to be more powerful. More stats, some type of specific power to that item( Ex. Thunderfury had 40%ish chance to proc 5 tornadoes that would attack closest targets, drawing a lot of threat), and overall more damage. IMO, a legendary should do more than 5% extra damage and stats.

First off, this isn’t World of Warcraft. If you want to “legendary” weapons that are worthwhile for that particular expansion, then go play that game. I don’t see how a legendary weapon should lose relevance either. Shadowmourne anyone? The very weapon that contains the souls of all of Arthas’ most powerful lieutenants, and fragments of the frozen throne itself….but 3 expansions later it’s just a piece of glowy crap that sells for a few gold. Yeah that’s so legendary….I feel the power 3 expansions later….wait no I don’t, because I would be kicked out of guilds for running around with a weapon from 3 expansions ago.

To me, what makes a weapon legendary is relevance. Changing stats on a whim is great for me. I use greatswords on several different toons and they all use different stats. It’s account bound, I can transmute it’s skin to other weapons. Seriously, Anet did everything right with legendary power curve. You still have to have skill to play your class. You can’t just coast through the game now because you got a legendary that can “summon 5 tornadoes that fight for you”. If you like WoW, then go play WoW. It’s super easy for a reason.

I think cultural mounts would be cool. Nothing special on movement speed, but if they HAVE to put something, make it akin to the speed booster in the cash shop. Would be the equivalent of buying a perma-speed booster for whatever amount of gems. Charr steam cycle or a Sylvari riding on a mini treant of some kind. Asura have golems and humans can have horse! /gasp

It’s weird when I play other games now and I see dodge as a stat or something. I really LOVE the combat system in GW2. It’s spoiled me. Now I can’t play other MMO’s because I can’t dodge out of stuff when I want like I can in GW2.

Back when the game first came out I played with a rather small guild. They were very sociable and we did just about everything together, fractals, dungeons, world bosses, etc. Then guild missions were introduced and everyone needed the commendations, so we joined bigger guilds. Those same people ended up drifting away or stopped playing all together, and I ended up stopping as well. Came back last month and got invited to a megaserver guild, so I figured sure I need commendations.

Still looking for that fun guild though.

Uh, I got my Charrdian to 80 by using the level 20 exp scoll, and then taking him into SPVP for all the free tomes of knowledge and XP scrolls. I got to 80 in a weekend and also got a few PVP tracks completed as well so I had free gear for him at the end of it. Lots of stuff you can do for levels. Join a guild and have them run you through some dungeons like AC. You can also pick up a crafting profession and get it to 400 for an extra 5 levels. Do something like cooking and it’ll take about 30 mins to do for 5 levels. :p

Anet needs more merchandise I can throw money at. T-shirts, sweatshirts, mousepads, hats, plushie charr, etc. People eat that stuff up. I’d pick up some GW2 clothes, like a Blood Legion hoodie or a Rytlok T-Shirt :p

Charrsagne doesn’t work so well on Mondays though….

Place any ‘Account Bound on Acquire’ items in inventory, change maps; they become ‘Account Bound’, and will stack.

Close any tickets you no longer need help with.
