Perhaps when a dragon attempts to turn them into Risen/Branded/Icebrood, the Dream severs the link with the Sylvari in question to prevent the corruption having access to The Dream/The Pale tree(kind of like a necessary cull to prevent a virus spreading.), something which I don’t think a Sylvari can function without? ( could be wrong about all of this.)
I would agree with this, as it actually makes sense, except for the single issue with Malyck claiming that his tree never spoke to him, or seemed to be anything more than a tree. He all but said that he and his kin had no connection to the Dream of Dreams.
Actually I am pretty sure he did say something to that effect.
Simple solution, move the Aegis particle to the main hand!
Which would ruin everything else instead. And look absurd. >_>
I said it was simple, not good!
Keep in mind we have yet to explore inland Maguuma. So far it is really just the outer edges of the jungle along the Tarnished Coast.
Simple solution, move the Aegis particle to the main hand!
Let’s set a few things straight (utilizing game canon, of course).
First: There are at least two late game missions involving sylvari immunity to dragon corruption, the cause is still unknown though. Sylvari touched by dragon corruption simply die. One might argue that in a particular mission a sylvari is driven mad by corruption, but it is more likely she was tortured and broken by the Eye that was with her. Trehearn did mention, after all, that he had witnessed higher functioning risen doing exquisitely horrific things.
Second: As for corrupted plants, branded plants in Ascalon is a prime argument, and there is at least one Sylvari NPC in Orr that talks about how even the plant life seems to be undead and wanting to kill every living thing. While the latter is not conclusive itself, this would suggest that even plants can be corrupted by Zhaitan. They were certainly able to be corrupted by Kralkatorrek simply breathing on them.
Now, in regards to some dragon tree silliness, it just makes no sense. I’ve read the theories, and they seem to hold water, right up until you actually play the sylvari story.
We will more than likely find out why sylvari are immune to minionification in a later expansion, since it makes them a powerful asset in combating the dragons.
First, I love the voice of my female norn.
Secondly, I’m surprised – the voice acting did not strike me as too boring or flat. I t sounds a little dismissive, unimpressed, and loaded with dry humor. Which was exactly the attitude I was looking for!
Frankly, If you’re 8-9 feet tall, used to surviving in a harsh environ, and able to lift the equivalent of small cars, and carry a 7 foot long 60lb peice of sharpened metal… what is worth getting excited about, really?
So much this.
It doesn’t hurt that it’s voiced by the same woman that held the “Most kitten” title from Babylon 5, amongst a slew of other similar roles. (Atlantis: The Lost Empire, anyone?)
She is also quite a prominent figure in video game voice acting, including various characters in Skyrim, Halo 4, most of Summoner 2’s female characters…
She doesn’t sound flat or fake as the female norn PC, she has a naturally deep voice, and in this case she just pulled off the most epic “bored now” tone.
I swear, Claudia Christian could intimidate a water buffalo if she really cared too.
Here is my norn, Sif Helmcleave. Just chilling out, doin’ norn things.
Mix of random armor styles, including karma legs, t3 shoulders, t2 boots, t1 gloves, and guild chest. No idea where I got that helmet skin…
Staff is Ebonhawk karma skin as well.
I do equip my Colossus, though I halfheartedly farm for a legendary. (IMO Colossus looks better anyway.)
The Seraph and The Darkness Will Fall are easily the two most standout tracks on the OST album. So epic.
He does actually have a theme, it’s even on the OST CD set as Disk 2, Track 4, Zhaitan. It is a properly subdued yet epic piece that aptly conveys the awe and horror of a legendary being of death and destruction that his final battle did not.
I have started an Asura play through with some friends, that should prove to be quite entertaining. We are by no means the best or brightest, and some of us have a nasty penchant for flinging ourselves off cliffs just to see what is at the bottom.
Come check out the shenanigans with us!
Character creation video, and first video. Please note that the first few eipsodes are a little slow as we work to coordinate ourselves better.

AFAIK, the bomb packs are still the best way to bring the walls down. 3-4 people running bombs make short work of walls/pillars. And then you have the useless people flailing away from the sidelines doing jack all. But that is another discussion.
I too have a similar story to share, only with an endangered Snowden Drifts grawl tribe. These poor, unsophisticated heathens are being mowed down in the hundreds. Action must be taken! Please turn your attention to the following footage taken from Maguuma server.
Sickening I tell you. These poor creatures have rights also!
where’s my dolphin form?!
This made me laugh loudly. The entire office is staring at me now. Thanks.
lol. I get 25-30 fps with a GT 520 and a intel core 2 quad. significantly worse than your setup.
Same here with a GT520, except with an i7-2600. I sit at around 30-40 fps in LA, 25 with fraps running.
Oh, and only actual lag I have seen was during the Karka event in LA. Mother of pearl, was that some lag.
I think what a lot of people are confusing for stiff acting, is a norn woman being rightfully indifferent to almost anything that others would perceive as a challenge. That bored tone is quite fitting for a race that deals with epic battles as a matter of daily life, and in my eyes, makes them seem that much more epic. “Oh look, a dragon. I suppose I should kill it. Yawn.” In regards to the actress’s skill at voice overs, she did a fantastic job in Summoner 2. And yes, I agree the story dialogue in some sections was rather… sad.
If it helps, I had a berserker’s ring drop off a random risen in cursed shores.
I keep hearing racist remarks from NPCs about someones face being smushed and weird or looking like a little raisin when I’m in LA.
That’s dialogue between an asura child and a charr lionguard. Quite fitting when you realize the asura is insulting a charr ten times its size.
All I can add to this is “Welcome to Fantasy, where the words are made up and the points don’t matter.”
I am starting to think this is just an issue with shields being strapped to backs in games. Same issue in Everquest 2 and a few other games I have played. It’s like that sweet spot where it is on your back, but not bisecting your character’s brain is the Holy Grail.
Polearms would be cool, but I would like to see them have long, sweeping strikes that cover a much larger hit box than axes and greatsword.
I heard you have to buy it from the gem store and it is going to cost A LOT.
like more than 100 gems? Because they are getting pretty expensive…
I heard it was going to be listed at 9001 gems.

sorry =/ As i posted in the rules, you can only post entries that have been created at the first date of this thread being posted (with the exception of that one entry because i forgot to add in that rule at that time)
Ah, yep. After re-reading it I see it now. Must have missed that the first time. Oh well, Good luck to everyone participating!
As of playing and recording a full play through of the game during launch month and just now replaying the story arc on an alt, they most certainly beefed his combat ability up by several orders of magnitude. Trehearne can actually hold his own and takes quite a bit of pressure off the player now. I think I only had him go down in one mission, the Ark one, when he got jumped by a pair of veteran abominations that spawned behind the group and pinned him in a corner. Seriously though, that would have ruined most peoples day.
This was one of the more amusing references I have come across in the game. I, too, ran around screaming with a ravening hoard of angry chickens chasing me. It’s much more amusing when you consider the character I was on was a massive charr warrior.
What about older videos that were made before this? I have one that took considerable time to edit together that I would like to enter from a few weeks after launch.
Anyway, I will post it and let you accept or deny it at judges discretion.

Another draw back to vertical progression is older sections of a game often become obsolete which leads to a growing amount of unused content.
I just got an Ancient Karka chest in my mail with 2 exotic weapons, the bag, the trinket, and two rares. so they are in fact doing something about it. However, I did not miss the loot at the event so I am puzzled as to why I received this package. Not that I am complaining.
What would go a long ways towards helping guilds is a built in voice chat. At this point, there is very little excuse to not have one.
My question is this: Why is the cultural armor..Armor and not just a skin you apply to armor, like the Hall of Monuments armor is. That would make more sense given horizontal progression.
The one line I hear the most?
“Tell me humming bird. How does one fight…the wind?”
Granted I could listen to it all day with that epic VO. Anyone know who is the VO for the Modiniir Ulgoth?
Good suggestions, and I would like to add that for the tornado elite, it really should have a “hurricane” mode in which it does the opposite of a tornado. Instead of a high pressure zone, become a low pressure zone that pulls mobs towards you, effectively making it must more useful as one big crowd control skill. Obviously this would need to be balanced somehow to prevent it bring OP.
In regards to the Greatsword conjure, I do not feel it is such an issue as you can still swap attunements while wielding it, though it would add that extra “oomph” an elite skill should possess.
6/10 Jon Ghosthawk. Cool name but it strikes me as extremely human ao marking it down for that.
Mine is an Ash warrior named Grath Ragemaw of the Rage warband. Still working on back story for him so nothing too useful to share.
Current theory for him is Ash is not all about stealth, but also out side the box tactics, so a perfect legion for a commander.
My charr, Grath Ragemaw, warrior of Ash!
You can invite with character names.
Colossus – hammer
This sums up my experience with the patch so far.

This is NOT how you do jumping puzzles. Just saying.
“Boss fights that are challenging without being overwhelming are hard enough to do. Making boss fights with BIG monsters that don’t boil down to picking a target and spamming attacks is even harder. I definitely agree that Zhaitan deserved a better showing to match his reputation, and wouldn’t be displeased if his encounter were reworked late ron. Maybe some constructive feedback would be useful here? Some actual suggestions of HOW you would change the Zhaitan fight?”
In regards to this, I really had expected the Zhaitan fight to be more along the lines of FFX’s Sin airship fight, physically destroying parts of the dragon in mini events before taking it head on in a more traditional battle along the lines of Claw of Jormag. Instead we get 4 min of playing gun jockey.
In any event, Sovereign Eye was a more dramatic end boss.
