If you permabanned you can not. After support will go through to you and answer your ticket they also lift usually permaban state so you can create support account or use if you already have and there you will be able to check history. I think AN ddidnt plan to lift permabans so if you permabanned all features liske support account etc are blocked. At least you should go from status permabanned to hacked or else then support will work even when you can not play game you will be still able to use support account …

Olo, my status is permabanned since Monday, and I was still able to create a support account and I can still access it at this moment, even if I’m not able to play the actual game.

Also, someone asked about emailing GW2 support – if you reply to your ticket confirmation in your email, you can indeed communicate with them via that method (which I did successfully). Just check in your support account that your “updates” are registering properly.

You may receive an email within the next few hours inviting you to create a support account, because that’s how I was able to create mine – first I filed a ticket, then I updated my ticket using a reply email, and shortly thereafter received a response with the support account invitation. It’s my bad that I didn’t clarify that.

Guys this totally works if you cant create a support account. You respond to their email they sent and they create a Support account for you.

You can even see where they acknowledged but didnt address your petition. Im guessing all have to be acknowledged then they do them in some kind of order

I have two other 80’s and am lvling a guard atm..1-69 in about 4 days so doing ok and I NEVER die unless Im doing an event 10 lvls over me even then rarely with staff out

GS as main hand weapon, it has the nice leap and hits hard. Put the % of life steal on crit ( blood sigil ) That procs quite a bit and works great with the regen we get as a class, Then add on top of that the food that gives you health per second. Thats THREE regens right there and they add up

I use staff as my 2nd weapon with bloodlust sigil to lvl, we do many dynamic events when lvling and that weapon tags everything for kills so you get 25 stacks of power very quickly so your GS hits harder AND it has our run buff on it

Traits – Spec 15 pts into radiance 1st.. Then 5 pts into the tree below that for the AEGIS at 50% HP. Love that. IMO Aegis is this class defining ability… and you immediately feel its effect coming from other classes. Then I did put the 5 into the vit tree for the vigor buff on crit. Its quite nice to dodge constantly..after that I like going 10 in the first tree to get fiery wrath and more power..

Gear – all power precision to lvl. regular mobs dont hit hard and you’ll have alot of crit to pop off your lifesteal sigil and mobs die faster, i even toss on cheap strength and ogre runes after 30 for more power

Utilites arent really that important for lvling Im using the power signet atm, with the 3 sec 33% less dmge and REGEN utility, I use the damage reduction signet too. 15% or so less dmge..adds up…others including the elite can be whatever. Elites are cumbersome and seldom used to me, I leave Renewed Focus up mostly so If I get major aggro I can run and pop it off

This all changes at 80 for me when I will be moving to the much vaunted crithammer AH build for dungeons to farm tokens to get my end game WvW gear =) anyway thats the plan. GL

No official statement, nothing on this forum or their twitter. Hell, I haven’t even received a single response for my ticket. It went from being ridiculous to a joke.

Where did ANET say a program isnt autobanning ppl that meets its criteria? ( whatever that is ) because IMO thats the best case scenario for them otherwise it means they have IDIOTS they’ve appointed with GM powers.

Heres what I dont get… I see new ppl today already..same problem.. banning for botting, maybe some did but I bet most are like me and didn’t. and theres alot of us.
Why can’t ANET stop the bleeding? FIX their program or FIX their people.

ANET needs to UNBAN US ALL and turn off the program and then go and start this from scratch with a better anti bot program set up and for a terminated account ban a real person needs to review preferably someone thats actually been in the game.

Why am I here? Because I want to stop people from spreading rumors as to what is causing the bans for botting.

Some examples:

Farming causes you to be banned!
Using a high end keyboard and you are banned!
Standing anywhere near a botter gets you banned!
I was doing a dungeon and was BANNED!

Every last bit of that is ludicrous and simply panic driven rumors.

There are people that are farming and not banned.
There are people using high end keyboards and not banned.
There are people who stand near bots that are not banned.

My theory is that something possibly long play time in combination with DE"s and or afking between is causing a flag. I see some similar people experiancing the same. Except that I am exactly what you described and I am NOT banned. Among thousands upon thousands of other players who are still doing it. Doing it RIGHT THIS MINUTE.

If your criteria was accurate, I would be right here with you posting about my issue as well.

I am not. Yet there I am. Farming DE’s with everyone else.

The thousands upon thousands of others who are doing exactly the same thing as you describe would absolutely drown out your issue if they were to post “I was not banned”. Except they are too busy farming the DE’s that you suggest are the cause of your ban.

If you can play why are you here? We have a real problem here. I have an account with hundreds of hours multiple lvl 80 geared characters that I would never jeopardize with something so cheesy as botting. Thats for gold farmers. for XP? to easy can 1-80 in a week solo? gold? never farmed can be verified with my gem to gold trades

I mentioned several times its a theory.. but there are alot of similarities as well to myself and others doings prior to ban

All we want is someone to LOOK.. not just dismiss. look at our activity and what flagged us and then correct it. Un ban us first

Wow same thing happened to me yesterday Jonathan i was at Jelako Waypoint. I fell asleep at the keyboard for a few minute then I saw the black screen. After which i saw the ban notice. Wanted to get my alt up a few levels . Just dropped like 100 dollars in the last few weeks for gems. This is not really very fair been waiting to play this game for years have 800 hours already on my characters. I am an old fart 63 to be exact I work part time so plenty of time for gaming. I really want to keep playing this game it’s much better then what’s on tv. they should have least given a warning

Cmon forum mod please read this thread.. forward this issue. look at this guy. He’s a bot? EXACT same issue as mine..powerlving characters at dynamic events is not a crime lol. SO what if we fall asleep or go to bio or in my case SMOKE. Wife wont let me smoke inside.. so I afk between events in a safe place and go smoke.

Who/Whatever is doing these bannings needs a talking too, or as I suspect its not a real person at all..can’t be or theyd see our characters arent moving between the dynamic events.. I still hold its a program with a set criteria and this one is falling through the cracks

A guildmate of mine was just banned…doing the exact same thing the OP was doing, only difference was he nodded off and came back to a black screen 10-15 mins later. Now he plays ALOT and farms ALOT. like 900 hours played on his toon, and over a hundred bucks spent on gems, his account is full of frill items, why would a bot have frill items? With all his playing he doesnt even have a legendary and I don’t think has ever gone above 20g, since, he likes to craft on alts.

I mean a LITTLE investigation would show he has a pattern of play, he BUYS gems regularly, what bot buys gems and spends them?

The only ones i see using ‘Automation’ is ANet…

Many of us hardcore players do what your friend does. For example myself when power lvling a character..I will do the dynamic event chain…lets say it takes 10-15 mins.. then once its over sometimes I will afk somewhere after selling to wait for the event chain to start again. Then 5 minutes later once the event goes back up do it again. rinse repeat.

The problem is..ANET isnt investigating, we are getting flagged based upon some criteria and then auto banned. Obviously im not botting I have 2 geared 80s and purchased MANY gems. All this could have bene verified..but it wasn’t.

What I don’t get is I am a fairly new victim about 12 hours now but many ppl had this done to them days ago and no response from ANET

Know they have a problem but won’t acknowledge that they are banning people who are not botting. Theyre simply reactivating.

I read from one of Anet that their banning system is not automated. I also read from some of the replies people got that accounts that have been TERMINATED are reviewed and concluded beyond a shadow of a doubt that they did in fact violate the terms of use.

This seems to mean that they actually have a way of checking and monitoring such “offensive” activities in someway. If this is true, I wonder what in the world did I do to make them think I’m a bot!?

Can you link the post where an ANET rep said this? I dont beleive it sorry, People honest people are having their accounts terminated in droves. It’s automated. I can guarantee the flagging is automated. and if a non player is looking at that flag and sees one of us sitting at say splintered coast for 8 hours, god they could be banning us just for that. It is unfortunate but the only logical conclusion to draw is this one above. The anti bot software is running on autopilot and bans people for whatever they were " flagged " for that meets its search criteria. In my and many other peoples case it’s simply for playing a long time in a certain area.

ANET could really help themselves and us by acknowledging it. Then if I were them I would just unban X accounts until they could actually really investigate it. Theyre swamped with our tickets and I think it shows very poor on them to make us submit tickets and come here in droves without even admitting they messed up

The problem with information such as “I was camping a dynamic event” is that it is meaningless. You are not banned the moment you “Bot”. You are banned for something weeks or months previous to the actual ban.

So you are part of the “in error”. Your being banned while you were camping a dynamic event was simply coincidence. You could have just as easily simply been looking at your bank vault or dying your armor and been banned at that time. That wouldn’t mean that people would be banned for dying armor…[/quote]

Perhaps but I don’t think its a coincidence chief. Prior to this I had been exclusively WvWing for over a month.. I went from 36-69 on a new character in about 48 hours camping the Centaur and UD dead dynamic events for long periods of time. Then I get banned. Also something is flagging the accounts.. Not just myself but others are showing bans after long farming or XP sessions.

You are also assuming that it was something from the past, we don’t know that, but I have been reading alot of these threads and posts and I see this same symptom over and over for many of us

I know Arena Net does not want to punish honest people and this could be a lead for them to help themselves ( IE less of us here submitting tickets being upset )

Thank you for this response, and others as well.. My theory that there is some type of link between long play times and the anti bot program flagging people and then the accounts get banned without any live person investigating is gaining ground.

People that do bot whether for personal gain and or part of a farming crew should be banned imo. It’s actually a good thing, But to have no checks in place to protect us honest people from the program is not good.

I hope ANET sees this

Id like to know how MUCH players being banned play? Around the time of your ban? I dont think their program is seeing your keyboard or what your doing with it. I am using a 20$ cheapie keyboard and was banned for botting too.. my only thing I noticed was that at the time I was banned I was power lvling up a new 80 on the dynamic event chains.

So don’t think it was for your keyboard neccesarily I think their anti botting program is heavy handed flags things it shouldnt and does not have a human over seeing it prior to ban

Just an update for my fellow GW2 players, I was wrongfully terminated for Botting, Macros, etc. I was banned on Thursday 11/08/2012 (Right before the 3 day Holiday Weekend) so I was expecting Support to be very much prolonged. All in all, they are doing the best job they can guys. My account has been restored Tuesday morning at around 9:30am. The working week has just fully begun for them and Im almost certain support will reach you guys a bit more faster then it did for me and the others banned before the long weekend. If you are innocent please be assured that you will most surely get your account back. So it took customer support to restore my account roughly 3-4 days. I know that this shouldn’t have happen but it did, so all we can do is hope for a speedy recovery and we call can enjoy the game once again. Thank you Gaile and GWS support team for everything you guys have done and are still doing.

Yet another one and ANET doesnt have to respond? I applaud this mans patience but I just don’t feel its merited. They need to know they have a problem, state so and be MUCH more rapid in addressing these botting banned account complaints until they resolve it. It’s not a privilage for us to play and pay for their game.. It’s vice versa.

It’s really scary to be tootling along with your game get booted and see Your Account has been Terminated Permanently simply because you play alot or level fast.

Please post here if you have been banned for botting. Maybe give a few details as to what you have been doing prior to the ban. There are quite a few of us and they need to know theres a NEW problem with their anti botting program/s who simply play alot

What I was been doing : At the time of my ban I was camping a dynamic event spawn on the Splintered Coast to lvl my new character. This will be my 3rd 80. Yesterday I was at another dynamic Spawn event near Jelako Waypoint. I was there all day. 56-69 in 24 hours.

I was banned yesterday afternoon for supposedly using a bot program while farming karma at cursed shore. Immediately created a ticket and have yet to hear anything back from them 24 hours later.

never recieved an email or anything stating why I was banned just got kicked from game and when I tried to login again it said I was botting which is not true. I play long hours and have been grinding out karma for legendary weapon, but being a loser in real life doesnt mean Im using a bot kitten

Heres YET another guy in the same predicament as myself. Its reprehensible and untenable behavior. Hopefully a moderator sees this and uses whatever feedback resources they have to WHOever they can. I know they have something. Unban us

I have been gaming for many years and I know when something is afoot, they need to acknowledge they have a problem with an over zealous bot detection program banning people that simply play alot. It’s like bots dissapear then these things start happening. Coincidence?

Less than 24h later I got my access restored from wrongly account terminated by botting or similar behaviour.
My ticket topic changed from block/suspend to Access Lost, changed my password and automated appologies but no asnwer when asking what hapened or why I got flagged.
Any information will be good to help me avoit this situation in future and even hope that it wont happen to me again. Not sure what to do.

If you did I wish you luck if you didn’t such as myself then this is VERY bad customer service and quite shocking to be in game..be booted and told your banned for botting/cheating. What are you guys talking about? Players know who we are.. I have recently been getting whispers from the enemy..Usually calling me a hacker due to the damage I do to them. I actually respond with a Hello and engage in a convo..explaining to them their mistakes.. my spec and what I would do to counter that attack if I were them in the future. 90% of the time its because the shock and awe of a shortbow thief confuses most. Answer? Hit evade once and stun/root me =)

Now as to WvWvW itself.. I also played Shadowbane..Scorn server and Daoc as well.. Hibbies for life! ..and GW2 is the most fun Ive had since Daoc.. my number one thing to improve would be the rendering.. 2nd.. I honestly think all objectives are just tooo easy to take. Even if the points didn’t add up as fast I think it would be much more challenging if it took an actual SIEGE to take a Tower or Keep..say make it twice as hard.

All the little tricks Engies have has always fascinated me and after lvling and full exotic gearing both a Warrior and a Thief I have rolled one. Thats hundreds of hours of game time already under my belt so I know whats what I reckon

I of course have been reading all of your specs and builds and rationalizations for X spec vs this wep w Y damage etc and your pure STUBBORNESS to make this very interesting class work is admirable

This class forum imo has the least crying of any that I see and so overall Engies must be the more mature crew. So since ya’ll are too stalwart to cry ima do it for you. ANET does listen, at least enough to look at things even if they dont immediately/ever make changes.

The so called " viable " DPS specs? Are a JOKE compared to what either of my other characters can do,

Rifle to lvl? a joke..nifty utility with the snare but comparing it to the Warrs pure DPS rifle and GS?..cant be done wont happen. The turrets are too slow and dont work..pistol? cmon..

Flamethrower? 425 range? lonnnng cast time for its damage Thats kitten useless for WvW.. coolest looking animation in game but please save it for cool screenshots.. its a joke.

Grenades for pvp? Whats all the oooh and ahh about? I see all the math you guys throw but bottom line is its very clunky and WAY sub par to my Thiefs shortbow… Thief 1 skill is a ricochet for 1500-2k on crit ( constantly ) and hits 3 ppl at 900 range on auto attack? Shortbow can also spam Cluster Bomb 5-6 times as fast as I can click for an AoE at 1200 range that no joke hits regularly for 5-9k and god help them if I get a high crit in a Blast field.. I have hit for 11k. But the engineers have the f2 skill on that godawful timer? for compareable damage to that. Dont forget the Thief has steal for 10 trait points that also hits for 5-9k with steal for their F1 attack on top of that.

Why isnt grenades the 1 key.. on autoattack and targeted? Give the class abreak.. Do you SEE what the other classes weapons can do ANET?

Don’t even get me going on what my Warr can do with a GS just running around auto attacking for 2-3k a pop with immunity up in a crowd of 10 ppl… Hundred blades for 12k+ ( dont beleive warrs when we say its hard to set up its not )

So many things don’t work, don’t hit hard enough..or aren’t synergistic albeit COOL looking with this class. just to test..I hopped on my thief and went to WvW… I singled out 10 engies..80’s only ( small pool yes but just to see ) I just ran straight at them in plain sight got to 900m hit steal…then still in plain sight..spammed my AE at my feet and chased them around spamming until I was out of Initiative, they were dead… or they did something so I could observe. 7 died within 5 seconds 3 had a ton of hp but couldnt hurt me so I stealthed and left to think about it. This was with a SHORTBOW only… on the other wep set is a sword/pistol auto atack that hits for 4k and a pistol whip that hits for 9k ( if it lands ) and a point blank AE blind.. w more blind and stun jus waitin in the kitty..

Necros? EAT my thief alive..Mesmers? 50/50 on both my warr and thief lol.. Warrs? a good warr kill this thief destroying you..often do its a fair fight..Even rangers can run away.. Eles? have a crazy combo that they do that kills me half the time..

Your basic tools of operation are NOT in line with the other classes.. and other than rangers the most need of help from an offensive standpoint…and 2nd only to Necros in the clunky department..

I am going to lvl and explore the Elixir support/bunker role and thow mortars off walls at ppl just because it looks cool =) and maybe shoot my flamethrower through gates at ppl hehe ( for the screenshots )

ALT F4 is an issue and players need to be left in game for 30 seconds once disconnecting.

Teleporting is NOT an issue. If you can not get them tagged in combat and they wish to run by porting. Fine letem port. You won the engagement.

I disagree with kitten near EVERY thing this post suggests. Point # 5 could be discussed as rational but very hard to implement as bunker classes are a force now… You are an sPvP’er? This aspect of GW2 is about point and map control.

Take out the gates? – Sure just zerg right in!
More Rez points? – more zerging right in! destroys some tactial distance features
Reset score every night? – How about make it every 15 mins! more sPvP!

Alot of ppl enjoy the base of what WvWvW is right now..it IS the most popular part of GW2…EX: down over 300k points several nights many ofus just log in..and start a fight.. take a tower have a battle..and not even worry about the score. It’s part of the Meta game but score doesn’t determine if it’s fun..

This goes for any type of out of the box game play..thieves preventing caps..and mesmers portaling in grps etc. These things are excting as they are frustrating. Take the blinders off. I suggest you all really think on what your asking for. You might just get it.

Orbs do not determine every battle and an organized strike team overcomes them, IoJ recently showed this in our defense of our homeland since mid week. Several epic nights of battles bewtween us and SoS with them having a 3 Orb bonus.. Once actually in our Garrisons Lord room a battle was waged for two hours

However… that does not mean a team that already has substantial point/map control deserves and or needs any additional crutch like 15% HP and an obnoxious 150 buff to all stats.. as Easymode says winners will win and losers will lose. Great! now do it w/o the crutch.

I am happy they are gone and really know this will motivate ppl to come out and fight.

I like the thinking out of the box, the only problem I see is small guilds and the zerg just Qing for their homeland and not going to the other maps. People like crutches.

The orb stat buff is fine the way it is. Everyone wants bigger numbers. Orbs are a great motivator and point of WvW contention. They make WvW more fun.

The #1 problem is the cheating.
The #2 problem is that they’re not all that hard to take (compared to DAOC).

People are strawmanning the losing servers losing because of the orb bonuses. Orb stat bonuses do not play a critical role in the winning server winning. They are more of a symptom and result, not a cause. The cause relates to [player skill x organization] and supply mechanics.

As I said before, fix supply pooling and the poor supply decay of the currrent game, and you fix the domino (as much as it should be fixed). Make siege a bit cheaper to purchase to compensate their faster decay. And you have GG.

I appreciate your personal view on this but it is in the vast minority sir. I also predict much much larger participation from servers being dominated after the first couple of days.

I also do not agree with other posters talking about giving the unmanned buff the current orb bonuses. It is not your opponents fault your server can not muster an army to compete in WvW. ANET has similarly expressed these views witht heir post on nightcapping

Silly post. Depending on the map composition/score I will encourage double teaming the instant it becomes beneficial. The intrigue of this aspect of WvW gameplay is one of the reason why it is so much more addictive than sPvP… OP you should chew on this some and possibly just recant the entire post =)

I do not agree with the OP, I play a thief/warr and I LOVE the extra dimension to paranoia mesmers add in game play. I don’t want to play colonial warfare type tactics all the time. You simply must perform solid mesmer sweeps. This does not include hackers but I suspect it is many many more times due to them being sneaky =)

To the OP..I know your frustrated right now but to me? this type of frustration just makes me want to play harder vs not play.. perhaps think of it that way?
