I really enjoyed reading most of the posts in this thread. I am however, pretty tired of seeing SBI complain about the 2v1. Yes, it’s happening. Get over it.

I mean, I don’t actually care that much, since it’s been pretty fun. But just to clarify we have three different takes on this so far:

1) SBI you just suck, there’s no double teaming happening here at all. QQ more.

2) Well, yes, we are both double teaming you, but it’s just strategy, nothing coordinated.

3) Ya’ll getting stomped by both of us because you are kittens, take it and love it kitten.

Can we get a consensus on which one it is?

Guys, guys, what if, bare with me now, what if, like, we took the Asuran hover-pods they use to replace wheels on Flame Rams and strapped them to our guys, then loaded like… 10 of them at a time into a Trebuchet and hurled them over the enemy keep’s walls? The hover pods would totally kick in and prevent them from becoming a greasy stain on the ground at least 80, 90 percent of the time.

I understand that some people can get pretty cut-throat about this kind of thing, but really, all this rage and trolling in order to fight it out for 2nd place in the league? Really? You know the only real difference between 2nd and 3rd place is going to be a couple of extra WvW bonus chests and the number of limited finishers you’ll get, right?

Calm your kitten folks.

WvW Mark Suggestion

An item should be put in, I feel, that apes the way the Strange weapons from TF2 work. They should cost, let’s say, 1000 WvW marks or 40000 Glory. Pricey, but not unobtainably so. When this consumable was used on a weapon it would offer you a choice: This weapon will track one of the following: Kills, Kills by Class, Kills by Map. Kills would count as any hit or effect that downed an opposing player in any form of PVP, so if a condition applied by a skill from this weapon downed a target, that would count. You could get multiple items to make the weapon track multiple things.

I have a Longbow I use all the time in havoc and larger fights in WvW: I spend 1000 marks, and decide to have it track kills. Now, PVP kills made with this weapon are tracked. By the time I hit another 500 kills with it, I have built up enough marks for another one of these consumables. This time I chose “Eternal Battlegrounds”. From that point on, the weapon will now track total kills and kills made in the Eternal Battlegrounds.

This would give a pricy thing to aim for with these PVP currencies and be something people could stretch their kitten about if they so choose.

If I win, it is because I have mastered every aspect of my class and build, played perfectly, and you showed up in subpar gear, clicked your skills instead of hotkeying, don’t have a good spec for anything, and are laughably unskilled.

If you win, it is because you brought X+10 people to fight, where X is the number of people I happen to have around me at the time of my losing and additionally brought siege into a field fight and very probably had a hacker doing… things.

There is no other option. That is what almost a month of league play and reading the forums has taught me.

So I made juggernaut for my war cause it’s OP…
Since finding out hammer wars getting epic nerf I moved on to another build to get ready for it…
After fighting hammer wars that use no other weapons other than hammer I’m very excited to see all of you go to hell. Even with stability that damage output is too much.

Wow, the hammer gets nerfed? Who could have seen that coming!?

But no, seriously, axe/shield or axe/sword and a Longbow was always best. Because I say so. Also, speaking from personal experience, kitten you other warriors who use the mace/shield/greatsword stun→100 blades combo. The second someone gets out of it you tend to fall apart and it’s hilarious.

I’d love to fight XOXO one on one; the problem is that every time I see you guys it’s a 3-5 man group with a couple of random pugs along for the ride, and every time someone declares a fight club somewhere by the time I notice it’s too late.

I will say this though: I was very amused last night when you all jumped my warrior, I dove off the bridge, and then got into a vicious one on one fight with an NSP Guard underneath said bridge while a whole bunch of pubbers got rolled above. To that Guard; good show sir, but i think I would have gotten you had I started at above 12k health :P

Interesting video there, but what always gets me when watching Mesmer videos is that virtually always it’s a highlight reel against people that can’t process the idea that you stay on the clone that isn’t pathing like an AI. If it’s running sideways or backwards, that’s the one you hit.

For a second I thought the first fight was one I stepped in on at the same exact location against a similarly looking Mes; it ended when I got there because I cunningly did the above and hit her with my axe until she fell over and bled to death.

It has been fun playing desperate defense in SBI’s BL this last week. Averaging about 50 heavy loot bags a day dropping longbow fire field finishers into FA’s zergs and running around with the small defensive havoc group with Abys occasionally.

Also had some fun dueling with a couple of guys from BRON on your server while trying out a full Carrion/Condi build on my little Asura warrior. Some day I’ll figure out how to beat thieves without spamming the hammer, which gets boring.

I dunno, you guys have provided a pretty target rich environment for us on SBI; dinking around with my longbow from the battlements of various keeps the last four days has gotten me at last count 197 heavy loot bags.

Once the blobs hit critical mass, as they have been, everyone is farming everyone while quietly cursing the 2 second skill delays.

Circumstantial evidence suggests FA tanked it last time around, but that’s just circumstantial.

What is clear though: We had at least a couple guilds apparently disappear during the free transfers, you gained a couple. You are realistically a gold tier server, if not technically one. Every fight I’ve run into in the last two days against you guys has had us solidly outnumbered, in many cases by up to 3:1. You guys have the numbers to run a zerg on apparently every map at once with numbers left over for multiple havoc squads.

It is pretty clear unless something horrible happens to you, you will probably win this league.

None of that should be taken as me talking kitten to you.

I just honestly hope some other server in the league got enough people to slow you down, otherwise you have 7 weeks of pvd with almost no resistance to look forward to, and that gets kitten ed boring.

Had good fun running around this weekend with a havoc group, dodging the giant zergs. Also some amusing cross-server co-op moments in the jumping puzzles.

But god kitten this morning was unpleasant. We got to spend the entire morning with DB and FA slamming our borderlands hard, with us having two commanders not apparently communicating with each other and splitting our zerg into two, smaller, far more easily destroyed groups. Additionally, scouts calling to defend something were going entirely ignored for far too long; we’re talking like a zerg is wailing on a tower door and someone goes “DB is about to hit Garrison” and the aformentioned tower zerg just sits there instead of going to defend at all; it’s a paper tower next to their BL entrance, taking it is of far lower priority then keeping the bloody Garrison.

SBI tended to have very easy matchups the last.. god, 6 weeks? More? We were steam rolling people who simply could not match our numbers. It seems to have bred complacency; you can’t just roll with a big ball and win by shock and awe against FA guys; they flat out equal or better our numbers in almost every fight of substance and they won’t be demoralized by losing to us once or twice, that much has been shown.

We need to defend our stuff; we need to have a defensive havoc group stopping camp-capping and supply interception so that they can’t reinforce what they do take from us. It’s clear that we’re not going to win this weeks, and that’s fine, but do try to learn from it.

Handling of Ascended Weapons was Atrocious

I don’t understand how people have wound up spending such huge amounts of money on getting to 500 in a craft; I personally spent maybe 20-30 gold doing it; I have three ascended weapons and am working on a 4th now, and the most gold coins I have ever had at any given time was approximately 150.

I mean, did you entirely ignore the Scarlett invasions? Do you have any idea how many champion bags came from that one thing? How many tier 6 mats involved? I did roughly one invasion a day for the entire run of the thing and walked out with like… 300 champ bags. I still haven’t managed to burn through all the t6 mats I got from doing this.

I dunno about other people on SBI, but when I said fighting you guys wasn’t fair it wasn’t a dig at you guys. It is boring this week; all we can do is fight back and forth over a couple of camps for the most part. This has nothing whatsoever to do with comparative skill and is entirely due to the ridiculous numbers advantage. We aren’t talking kitten to you, about you, or anything of the like. We are lamenting a poorly designed matchup system.

So, my first night of trying out complete pacifism in WvW ended in mixed success. I was able to peacefully detente with several from Yak’s Bend and Kaineng, though several apparently angry people did kill me repeatedly. Through scientific testing I have discovered that approaching utterly naked except for a shield seemed to have the most success.

Also, the guild DD proved to be good people, being won over through a mixture of cheering and interpretive dance and was one of my better successes.

My attempts to convince those peaceful souls I met through cowering that a giant blob of my fellow server people was nearby on the map, thus giving them time to hide before getting steamrolled, was not as successful as I’d have liked.

Also, there were several instances where I was able to slip into an opposing servers zergs and just run with them for a while before someone noticed that I was not of the herd and i was ejected through the use of force.

Further testing will be required, but I feel this was a rousing success in some ways.

(Also, seriously, I mean no offense to anyone on the servers we are fighting this week, but this matchup is silly. It doesn’t matter how good you guys are individually, you won’t beat us unless we all get bored and go off and do something else. This is like week 4 for us of this; winning is fun, but winning without a real fight is not so much.)

Well, earlier this afternoon SBI had a two stack for a bit. It added about 1200 health to my warrior; the numbers aren’t big enough to make THAT noticable a difference in a large zerg battle, imo. People are still going to be downed so fast that it’s going to do what it always did, and come down to who’s got the biggest AOE support. There’s a REASON every warrior worth a kitten that runs with a zerg carries a Longbow.

If we’re talking about small group fight dynamics then yeah, that might not be terribly fair. But it’s WvW; it has never, ever been fair. It’s inherently built that way.

A thought on difficulty

in Tequatl Rising

Posted by: Juunro.7082

Juunro.7082

Having failed twice at the new Teq today, I am not here to kitten and moan about the difficulty. I like that it’s hard; it is a unique experience for raid-style fights in this game, something that was sorely missed. I came here from that other huge MMO that’s been going for years now and just recently did a thing with Pandas, and while there were a great many things to recommend GW2 over that other game, the endgame raid-style content was not really amongst them. This new Teq is far more in line with what a great many people expect for endgame MMO content.

There’s two basic problems however.

1) There is no real gurantee of loot from Teq; that other MMO would hae rewarded a 100% chance or very nearly 100% chance of getting the equivalent of an exotic. Sometimes even 2-3 if you got very lucky. If Teq had a 100% chance of rewarding players with 1-2 exotics and say, even a 5% chance of rewarding a precursor, I would wager fully half the complaints in this forum would be energy redirected towards trying to figure out how to beat him.

2) Those aformentioned raid encounters in that Other Game all are something that a dedicated group of players has the ability to try when they please and on their own terms; wiping twenty times to learn an encounter is perfectly acceptable if you can do those 20 wipes in the span of two hours. Teq comes up on his own time and is not something easily planned around by guild or other organized groups that are going to be coordinated enough to have a reasonable chance of killing him.

It is clear this encounter is going to require large group coordination to defeat; it is not inherently set up to allow that. Setting off Teq’s attack should be something that can be done at any time with some kind of collectable resource; a guild wants to take a shot, they have to go collect a couple of dozen ritual stones or something to attract it’s attention so it comes down when they want it to. Or an event chain, ala the Orr stuff, that is set off by talking to some NPC or other. More importantly, the group that sets off the event should be given absolute priority on resources for the encounter, eg the cannons. If a guild of 20 guys coordinating sets off the event, that guild’s members need to be able to kick puggers off the encounter-vital resources.

I like Teq; I like what it represents, but in order to have content of this difficulty level, you need some of the more classical MMO trappings to support it.

Bloodlust imbalance or not, the new ruins have been home to some REALLY fun fights today. I managed to kick like three people off the top of the SE one with one Stomp on my little Asura warrior.

Though I suppose I am not really seeing where the imbalance talk is coming from; a group of 10 seems to be able to very quickly flip the whole map by splitting into two coordinated groups of 5, and I thought small, coordinated groups of very good players was what BP was all about, to read these forums. I mean, most of the kittening about losing to us from any server in the position these last couple of weeks has been “Oh, we have small, skilled groups but can’t match your zergs”, and this is content that very specifically caters to that exact subset.

I mean, I guess if SBI managed to get all three at once you could have a point, but I just can’t see that happening.

The thing gave me an option for any weapon with the Magisters stat line; eg Precision-Vitality-Healing. Not exactly optimum, but it was free. Does that +healing do anything for the healing ticks from Healing Signet, or should I just toss the weapon over to my Guardian?

The aformentioned Guardian is AH built, but is also a weapon smith and well on the way to crafting an ascended weapon anyway.

Alright, here’s what you do. You spec full berserker with a great sword, equip full berserker gear and then never practice any boss mechanics at all. Then, when you get into a group and stand directly in the path of some attack or other and thus get downed due to having a tiny, tiny health pool and a complete inability to dodge, you loudly kitten and moan with caps lock on about how everyone else is terrible and rage-quit.

Then you repeat.

On a serious note, Rifle works very well for single target damage at range, in my experience.

The things are almost certainly going to be bind on equip; if you can’t (or won’t) level up one of the prerequisite crafting skills to make the things, just farm cash and buy one. Or buy the components and commission one from a friend.

It might (will) take you longer, but whatever; it’s not like there is going to be content that you can’t do without the things. And really, 5-10% extra damage isn’t all that much. sPVP is capped on stats and WvW is pretty much already built to be unfair on a solo level, so… what? You think people will kick you from groups for not having one? If they do, those aren’t groups that are worth the time to begin with.

Doing that two-step “stack a ton of vuln on someone then hit them with a 3 adrenalin kill-shot” thing is quite a bit of fairly easily on-call burst, I have found. Sometimes it is useful for potting someone that has gotten away from someone on your team and is about to heal up, or just straight gibbing a thief or elementalist that’s playing ring-around-the-CC’d-target.

I have found it is useful in WvW due to the increased range giving you a little more lee-way time, and the fairly short cooldown ranged snare is nice for grabbing someone and holding them down long enough for the zerg to catch them.

On an unrelated note, real warriors use axe/shield and don’t do the whole Main-hand sword free jumpy teleporty sissy nonsense. Playing ring around the zerg on my little Asura warrior was fun this week though; there’s a certain heart thumping adrenalin feeling to knowing that, somewhere out there, there’s a group of YB that outnumbers you 3 to 1 at minimum.

I didn’t really play during Primetime much, as that’s when my Payday 2 crew was all online and there were felonies to commit, but during off-hours it was often ridiculous. Good game though.

As for hacking:

It’s usually very, very clear when someone is actually hacking. For example, last week a friend of mine and I engaged an upleveled Mesmer in the BL who was clearly wearing the starter gear. He hit me for just shy of 30000 damage with what appeared to be an autoattack. That was hacking.

Getting into weird places or exploiting terrain is questionable, but not actually hacking per se.

If you see someone running around under the world, shooting out through the ground (a terrain edit hack that was endemic in Warsong Gulch during The Burning Crusade back in my WoW days) then feel free to call hax, but someone showing up some place unexpectedly probably means you should have been more aware of your surroundings.
