I think a lot of people are getting excited by the changes. Sadly, Warriors won’t be able to do the classic zerky invincible charge and do 20K damage per opponent in range in 2.1 seconds ( or whatever).
However, remember that you can still pull the same kind of move , but just in a little bit more time. This is where timing, landing that cripple/immo is gonna be key to landing that damaging move and being back to business as usual in the zerky world.
We , as warriors, have received many buffs recently, and I’m getting sick of the negativity. The grandmaster of tactics has just received a serious boost in this patch, and rampage is starting to get adjusted.
So here’s what i propose :
1) Everybody calm down, get a grip, and play a few days with the changes. Try out the new events too as a distraction.
2) Observe the changes in the general multi-profession meta.
Go do some WvW. Thieves got stealth chaining nerf via the revealed increase, basilisk doesn’t immo anymore, and the quickness changes will affect everyone, and not just warriors. For example, it means less instastomps in wvw ^-^
3) Try another playstyle.
Ask other warriors what they’re doing. If you have the armor and trinkets, pay the 3 silver to retrait and switch it up a little.
4) After a few days have passed and you’ve seen firsthand the effects of the patch overall….. THEN have a researched opinion.
Let’s just…get it together everyone.

You want bleed on your longbow ? Superior sigil of earth. if you have 5 in arms, this means that every auto attack can potentially crit twice, and those two crits give you 4 potential bleeds.

Longbow Warrior
Attack speed is approximately 1.19 seconds per attack.Sigil of Earth: 2 second cooldown.
This means it can only proc every 3 attacks.
Even with a 2sec cooldown on earthsigil, , this only changes the calculation barely… 2 hits that can crit. Every crit gets a double proc layer ( 33% bleed from arms, 60% bleed from sigil [2 different rolls instead of 33+60]) making it that 3 bleeds is the max a single " autoattack" can put on ( if you’re lucky, doublecritted and your procs all activated). 1 bleeds per attack is about the “battle average”
Don’t forget that bow attacks aren’t instant and do require a little travel time. All in all, it’s pretty much almost every shot. I use an earthsigil bow in wvw and it’s amazing at keeping the pressure up on the move (esp chases).

Basically you gotta be flexible.
90% of the time i’ll be using the longbow ( as i’ve been doing the combowarrior routine with longbow+swd/axe since launch) but depending on build sometimes flipping a trait or two and using rifle for specific spots can do wonders.
Examples :
- Fractals shaman. And you can crackshot the hell out of the magmaworms)
- I also flip to crackshot rifle for the fractal harpies since bow has issues with the angles involved in maxranging them.
In wvw you could never take away my longbow. Especially against stealth classes, being able to “guesstimate” instead of being limited by targetting is just something i cannot understate. One of my fav moves is to drop combushot on downed enemies while fighting to keep things cozy while i work on their friends.
Banners are great, but a grandmaster of tactics (+1 adept slot) is really required to unlock the awesome. The great thing about regen banner tho is that you can do cleaning warhorn AND regen banners at the same time ( as the traits are compatible).
Pretty much, the deal is this : low level, having multiple layers of regen (up to 4: food(pies) , def15 builtin regen, banner regen, regen signet == 4 ticks of juice… per second) really kills. Regen is still important at higher levels, but nowhere near as powerful as when level limited.
While running multiple banners is possible, personally having only 1 regen banner is usually enough for the group as the regen stacks only in duration, not in power.
I’ve been doing the longbow + swd/axe combowar routine for a loong long time. I’ve seen the video, and while it’s great at explaining playstyle and how doing the war selfcombo grants you so many layers of damage….. on the whole i feel his rune selection is a little off.
While bleed is super important, it’s not the only condition being applied here, esp if you adapt the combo and use it with any field (chaos, lightning and dark fields are my fav from other players). And while the second proc layer he gets from the rune on the sword is great, i vastly prefer to put sigil of battle to gain from the increased might and the constant weapon switching that you get to do with this playstyle.
Build wise, I’ve always played the combowar build with grandmaster tactics and soldier runes, allowing you the flexibility of having regen banners ([4gr8j/b.STR/shakeitoff] usually with banner of str for the extra condition damage and also to drop in the field for an additional 3 might) or shoutheals. Inspiring shouts from discipline helps really put the turbo on your adrenaline and offers you amazing control over your spikes.
I have a more traditional defensive version with 20def, 30tac and 20 disc that doesn’t rely on crit ( and gets extended conditions thru pizza) that can be run with fullon carrion gear or pow/tou/vit gear.
Current is a “half zerky” hybrid where it’s super crity and has a little zerk for taste. Playing with your backpane balance helps smooth a lot of things out.
They are affected, you can tell because they are pretty much running in a ball swinging their weapons wildly and spamming aoe.

We can stick our heads in the sand, or we can talk about the issues. and this week, an issue that certainly merits discussion is the WvW tactic known as " the culltrain".
Essentially, organised guilds have found a way to re-trigger culling in big fights by doing these simple steps ;
1) Stack together and move together, by the 30+
2) Keep moving together, and zergrush
3) You’ve got large enemy presence? NO PROBLEM! Make a bigass circle so you guys move out of perception range, then mass stealth and run back in.
Big circle move + stealth means that the culltrain will be culling once more on the enemy fighter’s computers, WAAAYYY past stealth duration.
So the guys on the plains see 4-10 guys running up. In reality, it’s more like 30-50-80 guys . The guys on the plains will see downed allies, but no enemies.
Suddenly the rest of em uncull, but by then they got half your guys, because nobody could see anything. and it’s hard to fight 50 guys you can’t see.
So the CULLTRAIN ! Discuss!
The culling is much worse.
Like, it’s gonna spawn a gazillion white moas on the garrison plains, but only 2-3 enemies on the plains. So you make a threat assessment, and realise that you and your friends are about equal numbers, and it’s doable. So you jump in ( use movement skills) and get closer. SUDDENLY 20 guys appear on top of the other 3 guys. You can see white moa @ 1500 feet but you can’t even do reliable threat assessment @ 600feet. and because i dont have a stealthing class, basically it’s not like i can disengage at this point….
I also love the ~1 sec activation skill lag in eternal. Real winning latency in there.
golfclap and keep drinking the coolaid saying that “It’s getting better”
( and while this assessment may be harsh, it is sadly how i feel about the current state of culling. And, of course, the culltrains.)

Hello…. i reported this issue in-game but i just wanted to make sure it wasn’t lost in the pile.
Within the fractals, there is an instance where everyone gets turned into a charr and assaults a city for the flame legion. There is something wonky with this particular instance when it comes to picking up dynamic objects ( such as fiery greatsowrds, banners after they drop, etc). It is the only fractal with this bug currently and it most likely is linked with the " charr-isation" of everyone in the party.
Bug behavior is the same as the other times banner/stuff pickup was broken ( as in, you can see it, you can click it, but it will never pick it up) but it is ONLY for the charr fractal.
Thank you gang, and please put in more band for the next event, lag was just horrible yesterday during the karka event ( click a skill. wait 10 seconds before animation even begins
