Serenity and Scars [SnS] has reopened recruitment for a limited time. This guild was founded by a gamer-couple and is on the Tarnished Coast server. Our guild consists of couples, female gamers and most of all… mature adult gamers. We have a very woman-friendly and LGBT-friendly environment. We are not tolerant of immature and tasteless jokes/comments in voice chat, guild chat or on our forums. We have a mature, friendly and family-like feel to our guild and we plan on keeping it that way!

We are a casual but committed guild. We are a very active dungeon running guild – we run everything from high level fractals to low level story modes.. doesn’t matter, we love them! Our members also like doing events together and we have several members that like jumping into WvW so you can consider us a PvX guild. PvE is the majority of what we do but you can always find someone to join in with you on any fun activity. We’re also a very social guild so if you enjoy talking… you won’t be disappointed with us! [Most active times: 3pm-2am CST/EST & majority of the weekend – Fri/Sat/Sun].

We have:

• A mumble voice chat channel [for dungeon runs or just being social]

• A website with forums [share knowledge, talk about things when you’re at work, etc]

• Mature, considerate and active members [Humor/fun times definitely not in short-supply]

• A friendly, casual and drama-free environment

• A smaller/medium sized guild roster to allow for a close-feel [no more feeling like a little fish in a big pond]

We’re seeking active members (21+) who like to socialize and join in on being part of our community. We don’t have requirements for members to be on at certain times but we do want more active players to enhance our roster. My name is Kai and I wanted to invite you to consider Serenity and Scars [SnS]. We are on Tarnished Coast and are a guild founded by and comprised of mostly couples (both married and not)! Our most active times are 4pm-2am CST/EST.

We run a lot of dungeons (daily) and also like grouping up for random events, wvw, stories, etc. PvE is what we mostly do but we’re PvX also in the sense that our members aren’t afraid to jump into WvW also (I’ve noticed the husbands/boyfriends seem to like PvP quite a bit, heh). We are also very social and helpful overall. You can expect a friendly, mature, intelligent and playful/relaxed environment from us. We are at about 33 members right now and have a close-knit family-like feel. We are also very woman-friendly and LGBT-friendly; we do not appreciate immature [sexist/racist/homophobic/tasteless] jokes/comments that most tactless gamers have been known for.

We are a casual but committed guild that feels like being part of an actual community. We have our own mumble server (voice chat) for our members to use [great when running dungeons for easy communication!] and we have a website with forums to share ideas and just goof around on when not in-game.

To expand on Serenity and Scars:

We started up in GW2 but our members consist of mature gamers who have been around gaming for a very honorable amount of time. We’re at about 30 members right now and will not exceed 100 members [recruitment will be closing soon for a bit to allow for our new members to integrate without feeling as they’re sinking in a mass amount of people].

We are a close-knit guild founded by a couple (myself and my boyfriend) – in the hopes of creating a place for like-minded gamers to enjoy a casual but committed environment. We don’t believe in having requirements to be on a certain times or anything like that. I’m very proud of what SnS is and where we are going. We do a lot of dungeons and group events (and even more as we grow) and have quite a few WvW adventurers. We’re also VERY social and have our own mumble channel.

We like to tease, have fun and make our intelligent jokes. We’re also very woman-friendly and LGBT-friendly; immature [sexist/homophobic/racist/tasteless] jokes and comments aren’t appreciated in SnS. We aren’t prude in our humor, by any means, but we are considerate and find laughter in things with substance, if you get my drift.

Along with mumble we also have a website with forums for our members to enjoy. We’re around to offer a guild home so that there is no need to look for anything else. A community that you can enjoy and be comfortable in.

The majority of our members are in the CST/EST time zones with a few in PST and one in an oceanic time zone. We are most active on the weekends and from 4pm-2am weekday evenings. Hopefully that covers everything and I’m more than happy to answer any questions if you have any!

I’m leveling a Guardian with James [leveling a Warrior] – planning on making those be for dungeons and WvW.

The majority of our members are CST/EST but we also have a few on the PST and one in an oceanic time zone.

Our most active times from what I have taken note of is 4pm-2am (CST/EST) weekday evenings and most of the day on the weekends [friday-sunday/monday].

Hey Mike – I think Serenity and Scars sounds like a good fit for what you’re asking. We’re mainly a couples guild and have 26 members right now. Majority players in CST/EST with some scattered elsewhere. We’re very active and social, as well.

We’re on Tarnished Coast too and the only thing I’d have to say is our guild isn’t a major PvP guild but we do have several players that enjoy WvW and when they’re on.. that’s where they are. There’s also always people willing to join in to help/run with in PvE, Dungeons, WvW, and everything in-between.

I really support what you’re doing with this guild. I think it’s great that you’ve made a safe haven for women who haven’t been able to find a comfortable gaming environment in other guilds. I haven’t experienced a large amount of sexism in guilds but I’ve certainly experienced crude and insensitive behavior. All the criticism I’ve seen in this thread just proves how much a guild like this is needed.

I haven’t decided whether to join or not but wish you all the best of luck either way.

At Mandar:

Point #1 – Where did I say that men cause drama? Just because I posted we have a drama-free environment, doesn’t mean I am CLAIMING that men are the ones causing drama. You are assuming this with nothing to back this accusation up with. Does the fact that we say we have a mumble server somehow indicate to you that we think that teamspeak is a worse voice-chat system? The list of what we offer doesn’t have everything to do with men.

Point #2 – By existing we aren’t stopping “crude” people from making their jokes and saying what they want. Why does everything think this? How about we think of it like this.. Map chat is a public area, right? Anyone can use it.. and it’s easy to turn on and off.. We aren’t going into map chat like this lack-luster “bar example” you gave and saying “Stop saying things we don’t like!”.. Guilds you can look at as a more private group – you don’t HAVE to be part of a guild if you don’t want to and the leaders of any guild have the ability to run that guild however they want. It doesn’t effect YOUR game time.

Point #3 – This guild is about so much more than what you already have in your mind that we are. The Sisterhood isn’t about what you are accusing us of. We do bond over all the games we play, daily life and plenty more. Those are the things we discuss and what we relate to each other with.

Point #4 – You may not have had any encounters that made you uncomfortable or unable to enjoy your game to the fullest extent, but just because YOU haven’t, doesn’t mean that other girls haven’t. And by you saying “I don’t know what you’re doing to bring on the scorn of men” just shows me that you are pretty much blaming the victim in this case. If you took the time to ever listen to any man or woman who has experienced unprovoked harassment or unwarranted comments you wouldn’t be so quick to assume THEY are the ones “asking for” the attacks, etc.

Also, I appreciate your view on it but I would like to point out that you are the only person who has ever mentioned that us trying to come off as less extreme might be a “solution”. I do apologize if you think we come off as extreme but we truly are not but let’s be honest here, the trolls and critics would have an issue with us no matter how we came across because of Female Only. That’s what brings them here and that is what gives them what they think is ammo to bash us. I personally don’t see why they take time out of their game to comment non-helpful, negative posts. I could understand more if this sub-forum was made for posting guilds and criticizing them.. but it is not. I understand people have opinions but the ones that are simply “I don’t agree.. you are wrong, this is sad, you are so-and-so (ignorant assumptions), etc etc” don’t make any sense to me. Thank you for taking time to read this and I thank you for your post, as well.

Slafko – I am usually a very patient person but your post has no place here because it in itself is sexist and ignorant. Arguing with your horrible point would be like talking to a wall. Please think before you type.

Shalmont – “The Guild sub-forum is to publicize your guild or to find a guild.” – Straight from the description of what this sub-forum is for. I am taking to high-road here and ask you to stop posting what you assume we are when you know nothing about the members of our guild or the members on our forum (male and female).

To address this sentence, Cakewalk, I would just like to say that enjoying the game is all we are trying to do.

The Sisterhood isn’t trying to make a revolution or even stir the pot.. we just want to find other like-minded players and have a little safe haven to go to. It’s not like being in the guild secludes you from map chat or other players in the world, so it’s existence just elevates the fun we have and eliminates the majority of our headaches.

I respect to the fullest extent both you Kaii and Cakewalk for having your opinions on this and thank you in fact for posting.

I suppose what I do struggle to make people see is the fact that we aren’t men haters or anything of that sort. I don’t believe any guild founded on hate or founded to hurt people should exist.. most of the people who are posting saying they don’t believe we should exist don’t really explain why they feel that way other than they think it is sad that “it has come to this point” but what I want to defend is that we do have a right to exist since we aren’t hurting anyone and we aren’t saying that every co-ed guild is a bad place to be – we’re just saying we like the atmosphere that we provide and we are able to enjoy our game at least guild-wise free of the perversion and harassment we have encountered many a time.

First off.. I have to mention how I took a double-take look at your name. Not only that but the numbers are so close to mine as well xD

I personally would love to see all guilds only recruit respectful players (men and women) but there’s just so many that don’t.. whether it’s because the leaders themselves are as we described above or they just don’t care because they just want more numbers or they aren’t being offended by what happens, so it doesn’t matter to them.

I searched for a guild (in other games and this one) that would be mature and friendly but it was really difficult to find what I was looking for. The family-friendly ones seem to be the most non-tolerant of bull but it’s ridiculous the amount of guilds one can go through before they find something that fits with everyone (since everyone has a different sensitivity level).

Cakewalk – It is sad that perversion and harassment is still quite rampant in the real world and the gaming community. I don’t think it is sad that there is a place to feel safe from those things. I’m not clear on which you thought was sad – but I can’t imagine you meant the latter.
