The problem is not so much the lack of the holy trinity (which is good btw), it the lack of people actually working together, and finding out what the new rolls or mechanics of a group is. Someone else already touched on it… People now just zerg the mobs without even looking at what is happening to the party.
If it’s just an area boss, no one takes the time to see what others are doing. They all just try to spam the target with everything they have all the time. Spawned extra mobs are not being picked up, toons being downed and no one reviving them(if it is feasiable). Just everyone out to do the most damage on the boss. I think it may be a combination of the learning curve for the game and people wanting to get the gold medal.
I thought of another thing too. Reporting offensive language becomes a he said she said. Sure they can copy and paste the text. But so can I. Which means I can edit it to say whatever I want it to say. So how do we know the person actually said XYZ?
Heres the deal with swearing. Using colorful metaphors isn’t inhearently offensive. If it offends someone, they need to grow a thicker skin. They have the Ignore button or the profanity filter.
Today it seems that everyone is offended by something. Someone says "Holy s***, that was a very tuff boss fight, but hey we did it and survived! " and poof… they get banned because they used the S-word. Even the Supreme Court ruled that the F-bomb and swears cannot be censured and fall under the protection of the first amendment.
Yes I understand the TOS and EULA that we all agreed to, stated this is a no-no. But really.. as a society, has our mental fortitude become so waterdown, that we have become deathly afraid of these simple words?
Anyways just remember it’s not the colorful metaphors that are offensive it’s the context in which they are used that is offensive. the only people that should be banned or put in time out are those that are harrassing people while using these words. MHO
Nope wrong again. I don’t play a warrior or a thief. I understand ballance very well. Ballance is an illusion. Some classes are good at mele damage which they are soposed to be (warrior thief etc) and others are not. Play to the strengths of your class.
Obviously a lightly armored class is not ment to go toe to toe mele with a heavly armored class. Ofcourse a clothy should be decimateed by a heavly armored, great sword wielding toon etc. This is a no brainer. If everyone was equal in everything what would be the point of having different classes.
I think the problem is you are running a class that is a support class or ranged class like it was a tank. A warrior is a damage dealer he is soposed to put out tons of damage. The thief is a damage dealer that is soposed to be fast (burst damage) and stealthy to mittigate damage taken. Check the profession descriptions again. It’s apparent you do not know the rolls of the classes and what they are soposed to do.
I see no reason to nerf any class or to boost others to “ballance” them out. If you are a support class or clothy etc. Stay out of mele… duhhh You are not soposed to be going toe to toe with a high damage dealer. This is commonsense. Again learn tactics.
This is the last post in this thread I will make. It’s apparent to me that a few people are crying “Nerf, Over Powered” etc. because they either are trying to use a class for something it is not intended to be or do not know how to adapt on the battlefield.
Good luck with your game expirence. Remember this is just a game, have fun with it.
Have a question:
Has anyone else had a problem getting credit for points of interest? I have walked over 6-7 a few several times and cannot get credit for them. Before you ask… no they are not under ground or on some mountain top of cliff. They have been on flat terrain on praries etc.
has anyone else had this problem?
Syn I am not a Thief at all. If you are not reading what I posted, then why are you commenting on my post? Makes no sense.
With the Ranger I was pointing out that another class can be just as powerful. Just have to learn the full ponential. Adapt a little.
because reading the first part you’re commenting on how rangers can slowly damage you because you’re melee so you’re saying it’s justifiable that if the said melee character gets in range he can destroy it in 5 seconds
but no, that isn’t the case at all, EVERY class has a ranged alternative which is viable.. how can you adapt to being destroyed by a melee character just because apparently according to you it’s so difficult to get into melee range so they deserve to hit for 5k+ constantly
Again i said nothing of the sort. If a warrior or thief is kicking the crap out of you in mele. Change yourkittentactics, change your weapons. Dont go toe to toe with them. Yes every class have mele and ranged capibility, some classes excell at one or the other. A clothy is not going to out mele a warrior… in 9/10 cases. Learn to kite. Use tactics.
You cannot just use the same tactics and or weapons with every enemy.

Instead of demanding a nerf for another class, how about finding ways in game or maybe trying to understand and play ur class better. If you nerf the Thief class cause of reasons the OP stated, might as well nerf the Rangers, their long range attacks and skills to do added damage and pets can devistate any other class as well. But wait how about the whirling attack of the warrior, that can also drop several enemies in a second or two. You can go on and on and on.
please do go “on and on” because the only 2 classes that do need to be put in there place is the thief and warrior but i’d love to see how you think an elementalist or necro is op, or how about how op mesmers are because like rangers, they have long range attacks!
You are totally missing the point. I never said one class was overpowered at all, i was saying the opposite. What my point is…. some classes take a little more thpought to take down than others. Instead of hack and slash, use a little bit of tactice. Rangers for example have many devistating moves on the battlefield. By the time you reach them you are severly damaged.
Add the pet like a bear as a tank, the ability to add extra damage to the next 5 shots combined with their aoe skill, and the knockback/knock down ablility of the longbow, they become powerful. Are they over powered… NO. Just takes a little more thought to get past their barrage.
Problem I see with alot of “MMO gamers” today is whenever the run into something difficult/challenging or something they can’t just steamroll thru… they scream “NERF, NERF, NERF!” or “(fill in with class) are so Over Powered!” Usually the case is that they are button mashers and have a singular rotation they use for everything. Or they picked the wrong skills/abilities or weapon for the situation. In otherwords they need to learn the ins and outs of the game or their class.
I see no nerfing to any class needed, or any class being over powered. Remember changing something in PvP drastically changes something in PvE. And this is first and formost a PvE game.
I totally disagree with the OP. Here is why:
Every class has their special abilities that if used properly in certain rotations and whatnot, can be totally devistating on the battlefield. The idea of nerfing a particular class (there is atleast 1 post per class wanting a nerf) is unballancing. This is not a troll post, this is to put things into perspective.

Seriously folks, learn to play the game a bit. This game has a learning curve… so learn it. Classes should not be ballanced. whats the point of that. Might as well be only 1 class if every class is good at the same things. Some classes match up well against others some not. That is why this is an MMO. You have to rely on your buddy left and right. Work as a team.
This game is not easy mode. You actually have to think a little bit about what your doing. Least that has been my expirence so far, and I am loving it. When possible “revive” is a teams friend. This comes down to learning the mechanics of the game and class abilities. Not just your class but the capibilities of other classes as well. Devise a stratagy to counter.
Thank you for the prompt responces. Cosmetic pets have their place. They can be imersive with the little goofie things they do i supose. I’m just not sure they are my thing. But hey that is what is great about this game… you have alot of freedom to play as you please.
Ok got a question:
Other than cosmetic reasons what does a mini pet do? I ask because I am not sure if I will get one. If it does nothing except follow me around trying to look cute… to me it’s not worth it. Just anothing thing for the game to populate.
Note: I am not saying cosmetic pets are stupid and those that collect them arekitten #8230; just saying it’s not my cup of tea. If you are a collector by all means grab them all. Just not my thing.
the problem with completing an area is that some things cannot be completed. I can recall atleast 5-7 different points of interest that i cannot pick up, no matter how much i walk over them… and those are in a flat surface or prarie. no underground places or ontop of a cliff etc. Tis quite annoying.
2 x Nvida 250 GTS, 1 gig video ram each, SLIed
.i7 2.8 ghz chip
P55 motherboard
8 mb ram
All this is over 2 1/2 years old. I run the game at max settings. Last time i looked my fps was between 48-61. I have no lag or video problems.
Not sure what is causing the great performance. Everything is outdated. I think the ram is ddr3. The GTS series is what… at 580 now? I am using a 250 which is pretty outdated. Guess i am just lucky.

I am running 2 nividia 250 GTX cards SLIed. Each with 1 gig video ram and have the game on the highest settings. The card is over 2 1/2 years old. So it is outdated.
I have absolutely no problems running the game at the highest setting available. Have a P55 motherboard and an i7 chip. They are also 2 1/2 years old.
I got a good friend of mine to buy the game too. I loved GW1… GW2 is awesome. I am loving the game. If they keep this up i will definitely be here for the long haul.
I eventually bought everything for GW1. Character slots, expansions, nightfall etc. If they go the way of GW1 i will be here for the long haul too.
I hate the idea of spending 50+ bucks for a game and not being able to play it unless you continue to give them more money.
Good luck unlocking your bank slots and extra bag slot :P
Dem diamonds
They fixed that problem. You can trade gold coins for gems. And with the added feature of collectables, there is plenty of bank room.
Also if you are a leatherworker you can create backpacks. I just found out about leatherworking profession and the backpacks. Right now i can make 8 slot packs. I assume at higher level the packs have more slots.
So in game inventory is just fine. I am not hurting at all.
GW 1 got me into the MMO community. What attracted me was… no subscription. I see GW 2 as the MMO that breaks the chains of subscription. A truly persistent world that proves it doesn’t need subscription to sustain itself. Shows that other MMOs are just money grubbing companies.

It’s like buying a car. You save up and buy it outright. Then the dealership charges you every month to drive it, even tho you own it and have the title.
Maybe i just haven’t found the setting yet but, it would like to see numbers as part of the health/status bars of the enemy. TOR has to option to see the bar and the numbers as well. I would even be happy with % left. Like i said maybe there is an option and i just haven’t noticed it yet.
For some people WTS is the only way to make money, becouse at least from personal experience, trying to make a profit using the trading post is futile. “Oh you found this awesome green item that you can’t use but can sell, well too bad , becouse 50 other people are selling the same item for the low low price of 80 COPPER.” Seriously, vendor price IS NOT the sugested price for an item on the trading post.
The other side of the coin is people usekitten over pricing. No one buys it and then they complain that the TP is broken. Add the 15% fee and they feel that spamming it general chat will get them better results
Unfortunately they don’t see they are the problem, not the TP. The spam in general chat does get annoying. Wish these people realized that most ppl ignore it.
I must be the unluckiest player in the game. I cannot recall ever recieving mat recipies for crafting… other than dye. My main is level 36/37. I pay close attention to everything I sell. Kinda a ritual really. I don’t want to sell stuff that may come in handy later.
