its just sad when any noob can put on zerker gear and be successful and thats the problem with this game right now. its so dumbed down to that point where you don’t even have to think about your gear stats … just run Zerkers and win.

again Variety is what people enjoy in MMORPG. not just “get zerkers … win”. unfortunately thats what this game is right now look at any class section and ask how to play at the endgame the answer will always be “get zerkers, get highest dps build and win”

Is there actually an mmo with interesting gear choices for endgame pve? Why not do maximum damage if you’re good enough to stay alive, i’m glad the tough content doesn’t need healing, I run alot of berserkers in 48 fractals but sometimes I switch in more survivable gear for certain situations.. anyways running full berserker in this games hardest pve content and relying on dodging/positioning/timing is fun and a million times more challenging than I remember in any other mmos pve.

there is different gear for every different class, not just “the dps gear”. sorry but this game isn’t much more challenging at all compared to other MMOs. I understand you want to keep your facerolling but please to over exaggerate.

best and easiest way to add ascended is to make it Zerker stats only because lets face it the game is so dumbed down that zerker is all most of the players want anyway.

I wish this were true. 90% of puggers join with PVT or Cleric or Knight’s gear, running a “support” weapon doing kitten damage. So keep living in a fantasy world where most “noobs” run around in zerker gear. If this were the case, I wouldn’t hate pugging so much.

cooldown when "picking up" a turret? why?

Because it would be very easy to keep your turrets alive permanently by picking them up whenever they got low and placing them again repeatedly.

Perhaps there could be an increased reduction on cooldown tied to health remaining…

because turrets are so devastating? I mean i know i have heard many times ’omg watch out that Engineer has turrets up … run away"

seems pretty silly to me, i understand if you destroy it or it gets destroyed but if i literally walk over to it and hit the “pick up” key. i should get no cooldown at all.

I would rather have the game bring in the holy trinity than leave the game in the garbage Noobzerkers speed runs we have no.

add AI that tells mobs to go after the weakest of the group, basically a gear check. you fight a boss and if someone in your group has less than 1300 toughness or Vitality or both … the boss just attacks them. also let the boss drain endurance from the enemy they are agro’d on.

get these noobs out of their zerker gear by force … stop dumbing down the game.

Are you serious? My entire reason for leaving this game is because “healing” is not a viable role to play full time and in fact the ONLY role to be playing is DPS, while mixing in some support-ish types of abilities every now and again. Well, DPS bores the crap out of me, and mechanics jsut became a “dodge this!” now “Dodge that1” Now MASHMASSMASH to get in as many hits as possible before the mobs die! Or if in an instance it was "Kite the mob while we all MASHMASHMASH DPS until it dies!

I was harrassed and told “Go back to WoW” if I wanted the trinity. Anyway. I liked this games exploration, puzzles, and living world. However the actual mechanics and fighting functions were BORING. For someone who enjoys Healing and support roles anyway.

This so much I think thats the basic reason this game can’t hold my interest for more than a few days. I always seem to come back after a few patches, play for a few days and then lose interest very quickly. the combat is really really dull and boring, and class depth is extremely limiting.

it would be nice if there was more to this games combat besides “get zerkers to see the big numbers!”.

this is like the perfect MMORPG for the dumb down zerg players who don’t want to have to think about builds and rotations. And thats pretty sad especially since GW1 was the complete opposite.

go ahead gw2 fanboys tell me to go play something else … because you know what I probably will.

And no im not talking about certain farming spots, I am talking about the temples and the bosses that come with them(greneth, lyssa, etc ….)

make 4 “tokens” (because this game needs more tokens i know) that are dropped from these bosses on RARE occasions. these tokens can be then thrown into the mystic forge for another token.

this token can then be taken to some merchant in fort trinity and turned in for an awesome looking skin for either an armor piece or weapon.

it just seems like these encounters could be the endgame that people are looking for but no one does them because the reward is garbage compared to the time/effort department.

now i don’t know if the above is the end all solution (feel free to post it if you think yours is better) but all i know is that after leveling a new character and spending the last couple days running through orr, i haven’t seen ONE of the temples uncontested. to me thats an issue especially when the whole game is based around the players fighting back the Risen of orr.

I hope more people play SPvP. It’ll be fun killing people who don’t normally pvp. Especially those who don’t know what “line of sight” is.

These kind of responses are why i never go near sPvP.

Didn’t mean to sound like a jerk about it. People who don’t pvp will get stomped by people who play pvp more. Even if you get stomped the only way to get better IS to get stomped. Someone shouldn’t be able to play pvp if they’re not pvper’s and expect to do well when they have no experience in pvp.

All I’m saying is it’ll be fun to stomp people. If those people can learn what they’re doing wrong and why they died and adapt their playstyle to do better then you can be the one who is stomping people.

Killing new people in pvp is a way to teach them how to pvp believe it or not.

i guess this is something PVPers will never understand, you “stomp” someone who usually doesn’t PVP and more than likely they will not PVP again.

PVP in guild wars 2 is a joke anyway, i would be more than happy if they said they were going to concentrate on bigger better more innovative PVE content instead of trying to focus on PVP “balance” that will never appease PVPers anyway.

if I had one wish for the engineer it would be that our rifle would actually be a rifle. A long ranged single target high damage weapon (you know like the warrior for some reason have). then have our current rifle skills be shifted to the “shotgun” kit.

especially since our legendary is made to look like a sniper rifle, yet we use it as a shotgun … it doesn’t make a lot of sense heh.

nah WvW is a zergfest, where numbers are the only factor in deciding a fight. i gave that up a month or two after release. I am talking SPVP but on a larger scale, 15-25 people on each side, objective based on a decent sized map.

i know we have SPVP which is 5-8 person per team fights. but I am talking a bit larger like 20-25 people per side. similar to what we have seen in other MMOs in recent years.

We have recently come back to the game after an extended break. We are looking for a new guild that we can grow with and enjoy the game with those in the guild.

a bit about us, 4 of us have decent experience (a couple level 80s) while the other 2 are completely new players. we are primarily interested in PVE content (whether it be events, dungeon runs or guild quests) but will occasionally dabble on the WvW side of things as well.

what we are looking for in a guild is a mature active guild that is laid back but knows how to get serious when it is needed.

fyi, the same thing was said about explorable dungeons.

Were they toned down that much ?

I didn’t do any dungeons during the betas, so I don’t know if they were nerfed during, before or if QA is just, the “average” gamer.

Originally, explorable dungeons were announced as the hardest content in the game designed for a group of coordinated players. QA even said during one of their streams that they had yet to complete some of the explorable paths, but that was okay, because they knew there were more hardcore gamers that would be able to do it, and that was who it was designed for.

I still remember going into my first explorable dungeon, keeping in mind of what they said above. A few minutes in, I remember thinking “this requires a coordinate group?” but I was glad, because the group I was with wasn’t exactly the greatest, or coordinated. I also remember laughing to myself, when after the dungeon they talked about how hard it was (we didn’t wipe at all or anything bad).

i think turrets should have at most a 30 second cooldown, with the majority being 20-25 seconds. especially since characters are constantly moving sitting in one place is not feasible so the idea of dropping turrets and then having to wait 30-60 seconds to drop another is silly.

so first and foremost I am a Flaming engineer! …. whoa wait that doesn’t sound right, a flamethrowing engineer!.

I use pistol/shield as my primary weapon and I like might … alot. my pistol already has Superior sigil of perception on it for the extra crits because i likes them big numbers too!

my question is should i get superior sigil of bloodlust for the stacks of power or should i get superior sigil of strength for the might chance? which would be more beneficial? my issue is do i want to get the sure things with the stacks of power or roll the dice with the chance to gain the might over time.

i mean i know whenever i go into PVP i hear people saying “omg watch out for the engineer turrets” or if i go into a dungeon my group always says “thank god for those engineer turrets this fight would have been tough without them”

but even with that there is still no reason to have them on such long cooldowns.

usually every other MMORPG i have been around and trust me i have been around just about every major release. when patch day comes around there are tons of class fixes whether it be buffs or nerfs.

the only time you see ONLY bug fixes is when a class is considered fairly balanced. with a big company like Anet and only us getting bug fixes this tells me to them the classes are fine where they are.

Dev 1 – we are nerfing the engineer across the board greatly
Dev 2- why is that? they are one of the worst classes in the game
Dev 1- well i saw Dev 3 today just owning in with dual pistols in Cursed shore doing 1000s of damage per hit
Dev 2- thats strange because every data out there shows pistols can’t do that. Dev 3 get in here!

i don’t mind them being a kit I just wish they (ANet) would see them as weapons from other classes, and build our traits so that each can be a viable playstyle and not just something you switch to for s***s and giggles.

This thread is sooooo subjective. If you wan’t to make a serious attempt to promote balance-changes then you had to play every class of this game in a lot of different ways in a lot of scenarios ( pve, spvp, wvwvw ) and collect a lot of data. Also you had to try a lot of different builds and be good at them. Just trying something for 2min and failing at it and saying it is impossible/too hard is not a good way of evaluating the condition a class is in. Most people will just post here that they feel that something is bad or good, but this mostly is not grounded in reallity.

This is something that was done years ago by a few games …. City of Heroes, Anarchy online and even to some extent Everquest 1 with Lost dungeons of Norrath. this idea is already implemented in other game genres such as diablo, torchlight 2 and Path of exile.

the basic premise is that you go into a dungeon and it randomizes the layout, the mobs and the bosses. the Dungeon then would scale the amount of mobs depending on how many people join with you. You can enter these dungeons solo or all the way up to a full group and the dungeon would scale its difficulty to your numbers.

bosses would be random with even rare bosses popping up sometimes (there would be a greater chance to see one of these rare bosses if you group with more people). And like the bosses Exotic/Ascended gear would have a chance to drop in these dungeons again with the chances for exotic/ascended gear to drop being greater depending on how many people you have joining you, however even solo there is still a chance for loot to drop.

if added this would give near infinite re playability to the game.

Necros and Ele’s need some buffs but not revisions.

why can a warrior “out rifle” an engineer? and speaking of the engineers rifle … why are half the skills “shotgun” skills.

Why can Thieves out dual wield pistol us?

it seems to me most of the engineers kits are there for just fluff. I would rather have less kits overall if you make 2-3 really good.

im sorry but these are the worst devs i have ever seen, they are completely clueless and wouldn’t know balanced if it slapped them in the face. which is something i really do think needs to happen.

how they can say the engineer is fine is beyond me. why does a warrior do better damage with a rifle than me? why do my pistols hit for about the same amount as a level 40 warrior .. while I am level 80.

why even give me a kitten flame thrower or elixir gun if those are going to be garbage …. just for fluff? I would rather have less kits if most are just fluff and have the concentrate on 2-3 that are pretty kitten awesome.

I just don’t see how people say Engineers are fine when I am getting outdamaged by my wifes warrior and shes in greens.
