This is bugging me so much that I have actually sent a private PM to two devs with a link to this thread and a brief explanation.
But yeh still no response is a little sad, because it takes literally one sentance to confirm or not if they are placeholder.
But the thing with the bombs is, even if they fix the broken animations, the way you hold the bomb like a bundle quite often found in PvE really irratates me, you do the whole strange woddle run animation, really not a fan of it myself at all.
It’s the art used for the tab where you learn shouts under the training bit.
I thought also it might be related to the elite spec : /
Oh really? Oh wow, now I feel dumb.
Well there goes my (imo) babass idea.
Sad times.
Disclaimer: My idea is bound to be really wrong because a placeholder was named Berserker with no image, which is most likely going to be the elite spec. But I like my idea none the less.
So this piece of art was in the Warrior art section of the recent specilisations art datamine on reddit.
http://i.imgur.com/RP7aCKb.png
So a picture of someone using a battleaxe, which isn’t a weapon, nor going to be one in HoT. So my idea is this is the elite spec because wasn’t it supposedly accidently shown on a livestream that warrior gets an F2? What if the F2 is this axe.
Looking at the art, It kind of looks like the axe is ‘bound’ to the warrior with the glowing chains like a conjure maybe?
So you use the F2, and you do a 2nd burst skill which involves the use of the greataxe, I’d like to think the skill will change depending on current weapon.
Maybe it also changes depending on what your main hand and off hand is, similar to how a thiefs skill 3 changes depending on what you choose to have as an offhand.
I actually really like this idea myself.
Oh, it also seems they put more effort into the new Quaggan tonic animations than our bomb kit.
#justengithings
Oh and one more thing!
Why still no legendary footfalls + aura whilst using a kit. Is this actually hard to do? Or is this something else they just slacked hardcore on despite it being really wanted.
Yeh no idea why they was put together, pretty silly if you ask me.
They just HAVE to be placeholders. There can’t be any other reason for how bad they are.
Yea pls Anet at least little effort here thx.
I actually can’t tell if this is sarcastic or not so forgive me.
But if they are going to make such massive change to our classes aesthetics like this, it would have been nice if they did it 100% spot on, and not go stupidly lazy on mortar/bombs when they made such a nice change on the others.
So, hobo sacks are gone, thanks!
Medkit, cool!
Orbital strike, cool!
Grenade kit, cool!
Bomb kit, what the actual kitten? It looks awful, absolutely 0 effort into redoing it’s visuals, the animations of dropping bombs looks absolutely stupid and really wrong, so thanks?
Mortar kit, thanks for reworking it, making it actually useable! But the way it looks? Looks like a level 5 rifle skin or what ever.
Seriously, I’m thankful for the reworks you have done, but please, if you are going to FINALLY rework our kits after over 2 years of people asking for it can you at least make sure you put 100% effort into it?
My enthusiasm for the kits went from an all time high to a reallly sunken low as soon as I seen the bomb kit and mortar kit aestheitcs.
._ .
Please, for the love of god, if you’ve gone to the far point 5 times and died within 15 seconds of trying can you just swollow what is left of your “1v1 me brah” ego and stop it?
Thanks.
I take it no one has bought an expansion for a game, like ever?
lol, seems normal to me to pay this much.
Yeh, they have 100% nuked it.
And I can’t take much more of losing because the system is like hey carry this keyboard turning ranger who gets globaled trying to 1v3 far.
Have fun duuuudes!
I’ve been duo queing today, we have lost almost all our games, the system seems to be putting so much weight on us just because we are duo.
You can’t carry a rifle warrior who dies to Svanir 3 times with 2 thieves, one being p/p against a med guard and double cele engi with a shoutbow.
And this has happened almost every game for the past 10 or so we have played.
Match after match today is filled with killshot warriors dieing to Svanir etc.
It’s not much fun, as you can imagne.
Starting PvE heal has been changed to Mending
what this means?
It means the heal you start with when you make a new level 1 warrior character I believe.
Oh and I’m sure Anet understand the demand on kits too, so I actually think one day we will get an elite spec that gives us weapon swap, but removes access to kits, or some how limits how many we can slot.
But ofcourse this wouldn’t happen until a few more Especs are in the game to broaden weapon combo choice and skill types to make it truely viable to be a kitless or near kitles engineer.
In my ideal world, engineer would have had weapon swap, with kits being weaker to compensate, so they would be mini weapons that was alot more optional to use, with hammer being an original weapon.
So could go hammer/rifle – with a gadget, an elixer, and a kit or something.
In the long run the class would be a lot better off imo.
But like I said, I enjoy kits and the high apm playstyle, but the kits really are a curse and a blessing.
I hope that Oribital Strike Hits hard.
I’d imagne it will, it is on a longer CD than grenade barrage I believe, and GB hits HARD + stacks vuln.
I believe OS has what, a 40 sec CD? With the little delay on the actual laser hitting, so yeh it’s bound to be a hard hitter.
I’m actually hoping the hammer alleviates some of the overwhelming demand on use of kits, in the form of it having really high dps to the point that you some how nerf your own damage output by juggling 3 kits and your actual weapon.
And not because I don’t like kits or how active the playstyle is, but I wouldn’t mind relaxing on engi once in a while :P and the fact that I have this ‘itch’ that wants me to be able to change utlites depending on encounter like guardian does, one encounter you might go like wall, bane signet, purging flames, another encounter you go wall, stand your ground and hallowed ground etc. I like that.
And not just that problem, it’s that future skills that aren’t kits will likely not see the light of day in meta builds, or only in niche situations you might slot out a kit for something. And it saddens me we are probably going to be using the same kits like we do now for a looooooooong time.
But the speciliasation we get in HoT + future ones may relieve the demand on kits a little or give us new ones.

I’m so confused ._ .
Icebow being buffed, wut.
And the movement change, I can’t even…
Sad times.
Ok, so you don’t understand how it will work, and if you still don’t get it, or try to argue otherwise, then I may aswell just stop responding to you.
The skill will be LABELED as, for example a Mantra, it will work the same mechanically in the game as other ones for consitancy/gameplay reasons.
But the skills theme will having nothing to do with magic, I will refer back to the drone and ammo idea, you prep the drone (mantra) then then has charges (ammo)
You see you are placing too much value on the name of the skill family it belongs to.
But lore wise the skill is absolutely nothing like a magical mantra.
Take WoW for example, the Undead Priests in that game use magic that is actually pretty harmful to them, but guess what, that is just for game play reasons, in the lore they use their own Undead version.
I don’t get why this is so hard to understand for so many people.
Or they could just rename the skill type to Drone and not mantra, so this absolutely silly arguement doesn’t happen.
Alternatively, let’s look at a different game. Hell, I’ll pick one you might have heard of. Original Starcraft had Dark Templars included in its expansion that can fuse to form a Dark Archon, said Dark Archon could mind control units, if it stole a Terran or Zerg worker unit you could make an entire second army. Turns out that’s not a thing the Protoss should be doing as it’s actually the entire schtick of the Zerg. Come Starcraft 2, Blizzard fixed their mistake and moved mind control onto a Zerg caster unit. In this example, a Protoss themed ability didn’t fit because of already established lore and unforeseen possibilities with the ability.
If you want to know about failing to show mechanics and flavour correctly, go ask Mark Rosewater all about hornets, planar chaos and, just for fun, bananas.
Arenanet probably won’t make the mistake of giving a skill type with a very distinct and flavourful name to an elite specialisation whose flavour doesn’t suit using the same name.
Anet will limit so much potential with specs, like honestly, you could do so much cool stuff like the Drone/ammo thing or what have you.
But you know, lets not have all these potentially really cool skills and ideas just because some people can’t stomach the idea of mantra and engineer being in the same sentance, just because they can’t for what ever reason wrap their heads around the simple truth is that it’s just borrowing the skills mechanics, and not the actual theme of it (in this case mantra being strictly magic)
In the lore, the engineer ‘mantra’ will be nothing close to an actual magical mantra, why is this so hard to understand? Like a few people have said aswell as me, people can’t tell the difference between game mechanics and lore.
Well the engineer as a class doesn’t use magic, signets are magic based.
So no it don’t really make sense.
Assuming they don’t do a retcon and give engineers something based on magic that leaves
1: Stances
2: Mechanical minions
3: Venoms (could be an offensive utility based type)
4: Tricks/traps
or something completely new.
Personally my bet is on mechanical minions or venoms.
Skill types have nothing to do with theme.
If Engineer gets mantras for example, they will follow other mantras in the mechanical sense, how they work as a skill. So the charge then usage.
You could very easily have the mantra charge phase be prepping a drone and the charges being drone commands as someone else has mentioned for a mantra idea.
Same with signets.
An Engineer well for example could be a radiation field caused by an IED.
They have everything to do with theme. A-net are very staunch about this. So this nonsense about signets and now this hypothetical acquisition of mantras just doesn’t float as unfortunate as it is.
I really don’t think Anet are never going to give X class Y skill type because of something so (in my opinion) silly as this.
A class that gets a skill type that makes no sense lore wise is fine, because they will change the theme of the skill, even though it will work the same through game mechanics. Sure, the skill will be labeled as a mantra, or a signet, but the skill for Engineer will having nothing to do with magic.
Lets be real here.
Well I mean, you’re fully entitled to your wrong by opinion but when you’re arguing against the way A-Net has publicly stated they design skills and distribute professions you’re really smashing your head against a brick wall.
Let’s be real here.

Match ended, no one can leave.
Everyone gets ported back into the map upon changing char, clicking leave game, closing down and re-opening the game, clicking Join friend in PvP when someone on friends list is in a hotjoin ports you back into the bugged map.
GG WP, 10 people with now completely unuseable accounts.
Can’t leave, match is over, and it seems all 10 of us get put back into the same finished match even though the game is over.
Restarting the game does nothing, char swap does nothing, no one can leave.
….
Help?
I think that on the surface, the new challenging content will seem ok, but will be quickly left behind the other areas of the game.
Basically, I think HoT will launch with something to get the initial box purchase out of the more hardcore players, then quickly fallback to the PHIW open world crowd.
: /
Reset happened as I was making a new character, and when I was finished I was presented with 2 daily log in chests, one for day 23being the 4 laurels, as well as the 2 mystic coins for day 1.
I left WvW for the most part because I don’t see the fun in PvZ, aka, player vs zerg.
I don’ t see the fun in running half way across a borderline, with 99% of players I come across, stop, turn 180 degress and and start running fun.
And then when I do some people to fight it always happens to be the 80 man zerg who jump on my corpse.
Yeh man! Did you see that 80v1? We sure showed him! Ha!
Yeh….no thanks.
My favorite of those (least favorite that is) is the Troll in SW with his 90 degree cone attack… that hits outside the orange marking…
But then why does this happen?
Am I being stupid and not seeing a reason why? like lol.
Boss swings his weapon in front of him, so he magically hits people behind, I don’t get it x)
Like it’s ok once you know the animation sure, but the first couple of goes against a mob with this sort of attack makes me go eh? What the…<_<
Just gotta say one of the reasons (there were a bunch) I couldn’t get into wildstar was that overabundance of colorful shapes. Just ruins the feeling.
That said, I rage a little everytime I get hit by a Terragriff charge that’s clearly not anywhere near me but apparently is…
About the Terragriff thing, this sorta thing honestly angers me to no end, how some mobs/bosses attacks in this game have attacks with animations that clearly for what ever reason, be it bug, lag or what ever, don’t match up with what you’d expect. Like attacks clearly look like a frontal cone, but hit like a 360 degree PBaoe.
Nothing annoys me more than yelling “How was I ANYWHERE NEAR THAT”
It makes alot of things feel cheap to me.
I’m conflicted on how to feel about this situation, sure they could have been alot more up front in regards to when the test will happen, and how long it is, but at the same time I also view the anger towards Anet for this to be..I don’t know, unfair?
So people farm many, many hours for a test they literally know nothing about? Who is to blame here?
I can’t see how people can be mad at Anet directly for something they chose to do themselves.
You didn’t know when the test was, or how long it was, or what it contained, or if you are able to participate at all and yet it is unfair?
This isn’t directed at anyone in specific, my reply to this topic but I have seen numerous people complain about it. And this is my perspective.
Anet should’ve told people all that info, not wait for people tried to farm that portal for days to finally say “ok, the beta only lasts a day, in blocks that last a few hours each”, thanks for farming!!"
I don’t understand how people actually take Anet’s side. You’re at Blizzard fanboy levels right now where they do mistakes and you refuse to see them.
This has nothing to do with silly petty white knighting for Anet.
The information surrounding the beta was completely non-existant, I said sure they could have been more open regarding when the test was, but they didn’t.
So people blindly farm for a test they know literally NOTHING about, then cry foul at Anet?
This is a little bit silly, if you ask me. You should EXPECT disapointment if you are going to farm for something with no information about it.

Oh and I’d personally love a buzz saw melee kit, all dem spinny blades of death.
I don’t think they have out right said we are not getting any new kits with the elite spec, but I personally don’t think we are.
Now a problem I see with kits is that seeming they are basically mandatory in all game modes, that they will always be better than other skills we get due to being designed with using them in mind. So an issue might be that it might not really matter what new skills they give us if we still have to take multiple kits to be viable on any serious level of game play.
Does any one else see this as a potential issue?
And I don’t dislike kits, or that we got to use them, I think I might get a little bored of the class if I gotta use the same kits for HoT seeming we have used the same ones since the game launched.
Tl;dr Kits are good, too good that we are required to use them, so new skills might not ever see the light of day, unless ofcourse they do introduce new ones through out HoT or the elite spec.
Which one of those two has numbers to support a position?
In GW2 it is an objective fact that norn are no more physically powerful than humans. Feel free to pretend otherwise if you like.
Might I suggest you actually spend some time listening to what is said and watch what is shown in the game? In this very thread there is an in-game example that shows that Norn are stronger.
There is also examples from the official books.
What example given in this thread shows that norn, as a race have more pysical power than humans?
In game it is demonstrated objectively that norn do not have a racial advantage in physical power compared to humans.
Ashen, I’m not sure if you are trolling, or just simply don’t understand that game mechanics does not equal lore.
Is anyone else a little worried about the pve meta shifting from berserker or assassins simply because of the cost of ascended armour.
Im not going to be a happy bunny if come hot my gear becomes sub optimal and say sinister, rampager or god knows what becomes meta for what ever reason.
I think I will die inside if I have to regear and drop hundreds into new equipment.
Forgive me if this has been spoken about before.
Should those who have the instant rewards be banned
Yes joannarei. All the players who created a character at this time should be banned.
Sure. Why not. Its fun. Not, not because of it beign anythign like “Fun”.
The real reason here would be – “because people like that DESERVE it”Anyone who willingly exploits Game Bugs to cheat themself Game Progress by abusing Bugs and Exploits in a Game, violates against the Rules of this Game and as a consequense of this people like that simply deserve it to be instantly perma banned without hesitation.
Not because its fun, but because its the duty of the devs to ensure, that everyone plays fair and to show people, that if you dont play fair, that you won’t be permitted anymore to play the game. So simple.
Peopel who cheat in games willingly take on the risk of gettign banned for their actions.
It are people, which would quit the game anyways sooner or late,r or they wouldnt get on the stupid idea to abuse exploits and risk by that willingly their accounts. Its pathetic already enough, that People think they need to cheat and exploit such a game bug just to get for GW2 a title – just some letters under your player name and risk for something unimportant like that their whole accounts, only because these people aren’t willing to invest some time into GW1 to earn that title the honest way like everyone else to make that title for them something MEANINGFUL.
Perma banning people for this would be absolutely ridiculous.
I am one of the people who experienced this bug, I should have my account that has several thousend hours worth of investment, a clean account that has never bought gold from RMT, never had a warning, nor a suspension for any reason what so ever be perma banned forever because I happened to create a character during this small window of time?
And since this bug, I have not used any of the titles wrongly gained nor mentioned this bug to anyone in game or out of it, as this could have promoted exploitation.
So yeh ban me forever, I clearly deserve it.
And besides, I seriously doubt there is any real way of actively screening who done it on purpose, you think they will actively terminate accounts based on who created a char, or several char creation attempts during this small time frame?
Please, don’t be silly now.

There were plenty of new info in this article and quite likely the blog post coming tomorrow will also contain some new information.
So what are we complaining about again?
We want info on you know, the actual expansion features, sorry I was mistaken in thinking that frog tribes was not one of them.
I get the vibe you are trying to white knight, you know full well what the complaints about information are regarding but I will help anyway.
The moaning is about lack if info on the meaty things of expac, the things you buy it for.
Understand?

I think they are fed up because since the expansion launch there has been pratically no information regarding core features concerning game play, unless I am kitten ing and forgetting something obvious.
Sure a blog on a couple frog tribes and even a stream about them too is fine, but I can understand this persons perspective, to me it also feels like too much filler information lately.
My first reaction to finding out that this weeks info is on the hylek I thought omg who the heck cares, but each to their own
Still looking for a PvE/X guild, bump.
(edited by Khenzo.2465)
Still looking for a guild. Bump
Hi, I am looking for a PvE/X guild on the EU servers.
I used to be in a higher end dungeon guild but due to PvE becoming stale I stepped down from PvE and transitioned over to PvP.
Now with Heart of Thorns on the way, I am looking for a new home for HoT to progress through any PvE content it will bring.
My experience in PvE does not include high level fractals (mid 20s ish) or Arah, and this is mainly because having a dis-interest in this dungeon and fractals as a whole, but please this is not some last minute way of excusing any poor skill or knowledge of the game on my part as I know alot of guilds like these 2 as requirements.
But I did run the other dungeons daily in a coordinated guild of players using the efficant meta strategies and gear set ups, I am currently a little rusty when it comes to current dungeon content as I previously said I left the realm of PvE several months ago, but one to two runs of a path is more than enough for me to get up to date.
I also PvP too incase any potential guilds has active higher end PvPers within the ranks, my PvP experience involves hitting top 100 on old solo que system whilst regulary playing with and against some of the better memebers of the sPvP community, whilst my team que experience is alot more limited I have and do play with some good players and beat teams/players from the upper end of the sPvP community.
Also upon HoTs release I am almost certain I will be moving over to Revenant full time, so you can expect me to put the time and effort into this new class in preperation for any and all PvE content.
As a quick note I am looking for a medium size guild that is above average, I dont intend to sound elitest with that statement because I am far from it but I have little to no interest in guilds that are ok with running sub optimal gear or people who will poke at content until a guide comes out.
If I sound like a potential recruit leave a quick message here or ingame.
Many thanks!
