So… got my first vote kick yesterday, yup first ever!

Fractal 50 advertising for a D/P Thief. Join asking if Engi is ok, if not I’ll swap the gear to my thief. See the votes starting and leave.

Thought it was pretty funny, had to send the initiator a tell laughing, he comes back explaining why they wanted thief. Laughed again and told him the point was I offered to change…

Anyways, made me laugh, my cherry is popped

I really wish that all those LFG tryhards would form a guild together.

So they can all be wanna be tryhard elitests together.

Wait it out. For every chicken little thread about how much this class will suck, there will be 10 more saying how overpowered it is.

Ikr. When first stress test was done some been saying that revenant is op, his 2x heal is op, 10k hp/30sec was op as well to them. But those players are below average skill level and you shouldnt take them too serious.

Haha, I still read people saying Rev has TWO HEALS, YES FOLKS YOU READ THAT RIGHT, TWO, HEALS. OP!

And you are entirely right, most of these players are dwelling in the lower end of the skill spectrum that they can’t even see how the 2 heals are equal or less than other classes hps.

Except for the fact it requires legend swapping to use both which has the huge potential to completely screw you over depending on the situation, say in PvP, 2 heals that you can interrupt or the fact you could shoot yourself in the foot by swapping legends in different scenarios but you need to do it to heal to survive.

I’m also so suprised how people are argueing so valiantly against you Scowcia, even though the points you are making is 100% valid, and should be of concern for the development team.

In the end it might turn out just fine and dandy, but at the moment it’s look rather bleak for the Rev.

All you guys are claiming the sky is falling already. The game is still in beta. The revenant is NOT finalized. We don’t even know what the rest of the legends do, and not all of the revenant’s utility skills are in the game. We don’t even know what the elite specialization is or how it changes the class!

How can you claim this class sucks when you don’t even know everything about it yet????

It’s called a calculated guess?

Look at the problems we are mentioning, then look at what we currently know.

I really wish some NA teams could stick with being a punching bag for a while until they can actually challenge Abjured, the NA scene is so dead it’s on life support.

Noooooot that the what, 3 teams of EU qualify as a thriving metropolis of esport either.

Yeah EU isn’t exactly top notch either.

But watching some of the close games the EU top teams have is sure as hell better than the massive anti climax boring NA finals every time.

It got to the point I’d watch the NA scene until the finals, becasue watching some team being slapped 500-50 is entertaining. Heck, I’d also often watch something else for 10 mins when ever Abjured played. It’s simply a snoozefest from a viewer PoV when ever they take the stage.

They’re pretty much the only consistent NA team. It’s not hard to be the best when there’s zero real competition.

Note that I’m not saying they’re bad, I’m just saying that it’s no mystery why they dominate in the current situation.

Actually, this may sound like I’m calling them bad aswell, but I actually do think alot of people don’t understand why they are so dominant, some people seem to view these players as gods of the esport pantheon of the NA scene that rains down hellfire on any who dare oppose them.

Are they good? Yes.

Are they great? Yes.

But it’s because there is no other teams that really stick around long enough to grow to their level. Same happened with TCG in EU.

I really wish some NA teams could stick with being a punching bag for a while until they can actually challenge Abjured, the NA scene is so dead it’s on life support.

Or the Abjured can magically disapear, either works for bringing the NA scene back from the dead.

I don’t know, last time I watched the NA scene before it started to bore me half to death it was people just rotating teams 24/7

Like if ya’ll could stay with the same solid roster for more than a week who knows, maybe someone will knock them down. Hasn’t a couple teams gotten close to start making them sweat a little? I remember a few games where teams have gotten a pretty high score against them.

But another problem that probably exists, is that it must be so off putting trying to actually form an esl competitive team when you know you’re probably going to be slapped around by the Abjured for a while until you’ve really got the hang of it.

Theres another problem outside of stunbreaks..no mobility on wep set. Idk about some people here but i dont want to be forced to run Shiro, yes most likely i will run Shiro/Glint but forcing people to get one legend for mobility gonna sux on nearly pure melee class.

I think they should rethink Frigid Blitz. By that i mean to decrease it cd and increase energy cost. 6 cd/20 energy would do the trick i believe.

Yes, this is another glaring issue, didn’t they say they wanted the class to be like a thief with mobility in combat, but more like a guardian out of combat?

How is that in anyway being portrayed with what we currently have, it’s one leap. That’s all.

So I agree with you, they will most likely dump the movement skills on Shiro and/or Glint.

Which just tunnel visions anyone who doesn’t wanted to be lolkited from 100 to 0 from range when deciding what to run in PvP.

And I really dislike it when people bring up the mace leap, from what I can remember the range you moved was really pathetic, and now with swiftness not affecting it you’d probably gain more distance by simply walking.

My fears for the Revenant profession:

  • Invocation is Mandatory: If you want your character to have a stunbreak, you must go with Invocation for Empty Vessel. There are no ifs, ands, or buts about it. But you have no means of having two stun breaks at the same time. There may be a reason why ANet sees little problem with that since the Rev can only have two legends out, which means that only two other specializations can be used to develop your legends of choice. But this is indicative of a problem…
  • Lack of Build Diversity: The Revenant has virtually minimal build customization options. The Rev lacks weapon swapping can only pick two legends, and these legends determine your healing, utility, and elite skills. Lack of utility options may kill this profession for me. Sure, the Rev has six utilities, but they are predefined for you. You’re choosing which two sets of three you want. But that may force you into having useless utilities you never use on your bar but you have anyway for a particular utility.
  • Lack of Weapon Swapping: Having one weapon is not in itself a problem. Elementalists have one weapon set, but that one weapon set provides them with 20 skills for skills 1-5, and they have their own choice for skills 6-10, which amounts to 25 skills at a time. The engineer has only one weapon too for skills 1-5, but they also have F1-F5 and access to kits, which can provide an additional 5 skills. An engineer can have access to as few as 15 skills (kitless) or as many as 35 skills (kit max) on a character. The Revenant, which lacks weapon swapping, is tied to 15 skills. Most classes get around 15 skills courtesy of weapon swapping. The difference is that weapon swapping provides an advantage in terms of range vs. melee or the dictates of the situation: i.e. skirmish/bunker/etc. The Rev is stuck in either melee or range. There’s no getting out of it. An engineer’s weapons provide semi-melee range, and their kits can also provide range. An elementalist has lots of flexible options for dealing with range or melee with their weapon sets.

When you lay that it out, it’s clear that the Rev only has FOUR major choices apart from their specialization lines: 1) weapon, 2) legend #1, 3) legend #2, and 4) gear. Everything else has already been decided for you. But their choices become even more limited because…

  • Weapons too closely tied with particular legend styles: If the legend skills are inflexibile in terms of skills 6-10, then the weapons should probably be more flexible and independently defined from particular legends. As it stands the choices the Rev are faced with amount to which weapon set synergizes well between their two legends of choice. That may seem like a meaningful choice, but in such cases there is often a better choice with the rest being clearly subpar.

I think they are aware of all of this by now.

And I would not be suprised at all if they designed Glint to be a workaround to solve some of these issues.

Like they got too far into the classes development and the vision they had for it whilst in theory sounds cool, the concept, but in pratical application it left the class feeling rather kitten and shallow of a class.

Which is where Glint comess in, I’d imagne they will perhaps use Glint as a scapegoat to sort some of these issues.

Personally, I think one of the biggest things the class needs weapon swap, so you can take a weapon to compliment each legend, seeming Anet are really trying to push weapons and legends as a pair (which is a massive, massive mistake, traitlines being aimed for a legend I guess I can sort of understand) they want us to swap legends frequently it’s obvious, but I’m getting the uneasy feeling it’s just going to cause legend camping.

Which is a shame.

I’m not entirely sure the point of the build.

Well, I do but

It feels like you’re trying to force the gs/hammer PvP build into PvE.

Whilst trying to alleviate problems that simply don’t exist in PvE (the problem being the ability to survive) things such as endure pain, stability, they are really not worth while, almost ever. Sure there might be niche uses of them but having them be the default skills on your bar is totally unnecessary.

Miku commented on the traits, aswell as the sigils.

If you need to survive, at most I’d suggest just using the standard meta for Warrior whilst slapping on some Knights, or something along these lines.

Anyway, don’t know why I’m making a comment on it, Miku said everything that needs to be said really about the build.

If we’re to go off datamined skills, legends, and weapons, We still have sword (both main hand and off hand) to see, shield, and two legends to go, one of which is Shiro and the other is Glint. I don’t know about you, but Shiro screwing people up and being unable to be screwed up sounds pretty reasonable to me, and I feel the same way about Glint. So cool your jets on this until we have information on every skill that Revenants can get access to.

I don’t get what you mean about Shiro and Glint?

Do you have some secret behind the scenes or do you mean Shiro and Glint are beasts in lore so they will be in game too!

Bit off topic from OP, but another problem is that no one even knows this game exists from a competitive standpoint. I have not met a single person since I moved to CS that was aware there was a competitive scene for GW2.

OPs points are completely valid as well however, and were brought up years ago when spec was added. This is another issue that there doesn’t appear to be enough dev power to solve anytime in the near future.

This is very true actually. When I have read etc about other games competiveness, Gw2 is literally never ever mentioned.

But hey, as long as we gor 50k tournaments for the same like 20 people to aim for who cares right?

Grouch, the community must give you a lot of flack for being an engineer main and on the development team. Everyone thinks your bias towards engineers affects decisions when it comes to balance. But confirming this bug, taking action, and having a prompt plan to fix the issue has really made me feel otherwise. You’re doing a good job.

Its hardly been timely action especially when other abilities were nerfed so quickly. And what plan? No plan is specified.

Grouch specified that it is disabled until the next patch. Giving us a date on a bug fix is better than a Soon™.

Still doesn’t make it prompt. Should have been sorted ages ago given how broken it really was. This is one hella slow reaction to sort it.

sPvP is made for Teams.
If you’ve not one you can’t pretend that ANet make a perfect team every time just for you.

Find friends, enter in a pvp guild, make a your personal team and fight in sPvP against “casual team players” like you actually are

I don’t get how people have the patience and will power to play this games pvp anymore.

It confuses me, honestly.

So I did 4 matchs (large number I know) won 1, lost 3.

But anyway, back to the point I’m making! This was the first time I’ve qued since the patch came, and the next thing I know I’m out of nowhere being spiked for 15 bleed stacks, like 10 burn stacks, a load of poison, torment and crippled beyond all belief.

Like It felt I’m being bursted harder by DAMAGE OVER TIME than you know, actual direct burst damage.

No, I am not okay with this.

Oh come on people we all know the CGC isn’t going to be challenging really.

The playerbase as a whole isn’t exactly great on the skill-o-metre now is it? No offense to anyone, but I’ve got thousends of hours in this game, played thousends of PvP matches, fractal 50 yada yada yada and the average person I come across is really poor.
Half the time they aren’t even aware of their own class mechanics.

But the game is really blatantly catering towards these people, which is fine.

So the challenging group content will probably be challening for this type of player. So when the legit good knowledgable people start hacking at it, it will most likely end up on farm status so fast if you sneeze you’ll miss it.

And sorry if I sound elitest or what ever term you’d like to use, but I think it’s pretty obvious.

I will not be suprised at all if this “CGC” ends up being a kick to the private area for the actual people who wanted it in the first place.

That doesn’t really help…people get these kind of things, panic and need help and information, even if they know its fake or a scam they want to know their account is not actually in danger. That’s what these scum try to do, is exploit peoples fear and get them to act emotionally without thinking clearly, better they actually ask others for info rather then jeopardize their account.

It’s their own fault if they sit there and read the Note: Not from Anet! message and still proceed to go to the website and enter their account information.

I get people want to be hand held when they think their account might be comprimised, but this sort of problem is down right silly. If it didn’t have the note at the end I myself would worry if I got one.

Funny how the same people that claim that Fractals are normal PvE, when it comes to discussing Ascended armor, suddenly start saying that they are a side content that is purely optional. If anet’s going to keep the double fractal dailies, thus suggesting to all PvE players they should play Fractals, they should make the ascended gear to be more easily available.

How is this an arguement? Fractals are optional, just like Silverwasting, or doing dungeons or X or Y or Z bit of PvE content. It’s all optional, so it’s all side content..? I don’t get what you’re trying to say.

You already have several options to complete your daily without doing certain other parts. All 3 types lead to the “Daily completion” by just doing 3 of the 12 options. You can go to EotM and knock out some WvW dailys, or do a round of PvP. None of these things are difficult for you to do, you simply don’t want to do it, which is not their problem.

But what about PHIW? >: C

1. I disagree with rewards for just logging in, but they are effective at getting people to, you know, log in at the very least.

2. Fractals are not part of normal PvE and should not be lumped in with the other PvE achievements. They are welcome to create a Dungeons category, or even a Fractals category. But Fractals is no more a part of normal PvE than sPvP is.

They are. You channel Glint like any other legend, we have seen Rytlock channeling Glint in trailer after all. And most likely they also have cd like any other class out here. Selling an expansion with new class that getting up olny 15 utilities with elite spec compared to old classes with 24 when couting their elite spec is a joke.

Revenant has many issues and flaws, we all can see it already but im not even surprised looking at who designed revenant. Hint; the same person who designed warriors and rangers – and to this day they have a lot of useless stuff paired with some weird placement of traits in specializations. Incompetent designer will remain incompetent. I rather have Robert or even almighty Karl as a designer over the guy who designed war, ranger and rev anyday anytime. Sad but true. I bet revenant elite spec doesnt even have defiance bar – and they need it like no other class atm.

Yeh I know they aren’t looking to be so well made, which is why I suggested they went with the elite spec letting you interchange the elite spec signets with the other legends as apart of it’s mechanic.

And what I meant about the signets theme, is that they are just signets, they to me at least almost seem neutral among the legends skills, if you understand what I mean? Like they are bound to be a little plain, which then lets you fit them into the other legends skill sets without looking weird?

Here’s some food for thought.

It’s pointed out how the class is limited in options.

It’s pointed out how some legends skills are utterly useless in some situations.

Glint the supposed elite spec gets signets.

Signets are I guess not so thematically tied to a legend?

The elite spec ‘fixes’ the isses with the class that was brought up, by letting us swap out a legends skill using a glint signet as a part of the new mechanics? With maybe a F2 skill surrounding Glint.

Yes, that is a cheap way of getting around the problem, but it’s probably too late to sort it out properly. Plus it takes less development time, by doing this they don’t have to create additional skills per legend AND make an elite spec with new skills.

If you un-sheath a shield with a backpack skin toggled on, the back item will appear on your shield and not on your back for a small brief frame of time and then it magically teleports on your back correctly.

It’s such an eye sore if you’re a shield user and have a backpack skin on.

EDIT: Here is a screenshot from 9 months ago (lol) when I previously posted a bug report about it here on the forums.

I believe they said they done this so skills match what they say it does.

If a skill says it moves you 900 you go 900, swiftness made you overshoot this number with slows making it go less than stated.

I think this is why decided to go ahead and gut mobility.

So then why wouldn’t they just make it so this “Slow” and “Quickness” alike don’t affect the distance traveled?

This seems like the only logical explanation to me…

The channels would still get decreased but your character would perform the skill quicker or slower, so you would still go the same distance. This would be a perfect solution to it.

Because Anet.

But yeh, this change is universally disliked. Like some classes were slow enough as it was before patch lawl

I believe they said they done this so skills match what they say it does.

If a skill says it moves you 900 you go 900, swiftness made you overshoot this number with slows making it go less than stated.

I think this is why decided to go ahead and gut mobility.

Or they could have added tooltip descriptions to say it’s reduced or propelled by movement speed. : O I thought Anet love tweaking tooltips? :’ )

Groucharino did say last night in a Twitch channel they have spoken about the bombs.

Hardly news though really, because it’s obvious they’d be fixed. As for the skins, he made no comment so. I doubt anything is gonna happen.

Even if they sort out the animations on bombkit, the skin of the kit will still look pretty crappy.

The mortar I could live with, but the weird woddle run animation whilst holding this silly looking oversized bomb looks pretty stupid
