As someone else said, there is no best build. You have to go with what you’re comfortable with, and playstyle. Or just start trying out alot of the common builds until you find something that works for you. Then, make it your own.

Also just because you’re glass cannon though doesnt mean you cant get the kitten out if kitten hits the fan. I usually run glass cannon/backstab build, but I keep Shadowstep for a number of reasons. It removes conditions, gets me out of the Bulls Charge > 100 Blades/Devourer Venom > Pistol Whip combos, it confuses the crap out of people. Seriously.

Run away and use Shadowstep. When they get close enough to you, stealth, and hit Shadow Return. They will continue to run forward while you’re already behind him and running in the opposite direction.

Or backstab someone, shadowstep away, throw a dancing dagger. They start rushing towards you, shadow return behind them, CnD > Backstab again. Shadowstep is too valuable, I’m not sure if I will ever give it up.

Yeah, most people realize “Revealed” only happens if you actually connect an attack from stealth.

But the issue with stealth in this topic does happen. I’m a thief myself, I understand it. However, when someone backstabs you, has time to haste+HS spam, and is already halfway through the finish animation, it’s too much. This is after they should have appeared after the hit from the backstab.

I’m not so sure if it’s the game client directly. I’m thinking it’s more than likely related to lag. But it could possibly be the client as well. Or maybe a combination.

Yeah, I gotta say I’m probably gonna end up redoing my keybindings as well. I just feel like something is off, and not fluid. I rebound most when I first got into the game during the last few stress test, and when release came. But still feeling something is off.

I do agree, it does feel a bit, Asian style, atleast in the faces. But that’s fine for me. Rift I could not like my character because all of the choices just sucked, and the slider didnt do much to help. But not all of it feels Asian.

As for cartoony, I just dont know what to say to that. Atleast it feels more realistic than SW:TOR, and no where near as cartoony as WoW, lol.

Lets hope they don’t rush of and add an expansion and address the issues with GW2 at hand, which are many. Making people start off with a lvl1 character of a different type with new content isn’t the answer. Adding more lvl80 zones, events, balancing and such should be more of a priority.

I highly doubt they will do that. If they paid any attention to other companies and games, they should know that relying on alt’s isnt the way to go. SW:TOR tried to do that with linear leveling/questing zones. And look how that turned out.

Let’s hope ArenaNet isnt as oblivious as EAWare. I’m sure they’re not that dumb though. Probably… Maybe… Hopefully…

Pro Troubleshooting Tip: If many users are effected, it is the common denominator. If only one person is effected, it’s on their end.

I dont read many complaints about disconnecting. Ergo, it’s something on your end. Somewhere within the signal flow something is breaking or interfering. Your: modem, switch/router, NIC are dying or you have bad drivers, something.

Is it only when playing GW2? I start randomly dropping when running Tixati for some odd reason… Are your ports forwarded?

Is it when using other applications? Are your ports forwarded for those applications?

Is it all the time, even when idle? How old is your NIC? Are your driver’s up-to-date? Some wireless phones use the same frequency as your wireless router as well. Or maybe the ethernet cable is screwed up and is randomly losing packets. I’ve actually had that last one before. Damnedest thing to try and troubleshoot when it only works half the time, lol.

Find the common denomitator before crying. I understand in networking we always want to blame the distant end, but you actually have to check your connection before you can put the blame 100% on someone else…

Yeah, I destroyed people in SW:TOR’s as a deception Assassin. Got healer’s called “bad” because they didnt last long enough to heal their team. But that doesnt mean I expect to destroy people in GW2.

As someone else said, the game is new. We’re all new to PvP in GW2. All of you “gaming veterans” and “PvP veterans” need to wake up and realize that. It’s not the same game, or maybe you’re just not as good without a gear crutch as you think you are.

I will agree on variety. They should add more skills that you can swap around while using specific weapons. Have your 5 basic weapon skills, and add an extra 10 that you can choose like you do your heals/utilities/elites. H

owever, like I said this game just came out. I expect them to do something like this later. I highly doubt we will be stuck with the same 5 attacks for eternity. But let them balance what we have now, instead of crying for more and making it a bigger clusterkitten.

This. I’ve already been playing Stealth/Backstab, Conditions, or S/P Pistol Whip Thief. Heartseeker? …Lol HS. Dont care about that. As long as it’s still a strong execute when the QQnewbs are trying to run away, that’s all I used it for.

Haste have 60 sec CD (48 with traits) and max 2.5 PW when haste is proc. If a thief is using haste to burst you die, you def need to use a equivalent long cd defensive skill to avoid the damage (either a stun break, blink skill or vapor form etc).

If a thief one shot you (11k++), it is ok because you are running glass cannon build and you are supposed to deal burst damage and take huge burst damage at the same time.

if a thief one shot you when you have low hp and stun break is in cd, it is still ok, because they just jump out at the right timing regardless whatever build they are running, you will die.

I think before complaining about one build or skill, why not you create another char and just try this out yourself. you will know it is not that easy to land it on good players, and you will know how to counter it by using this skill.

^This. It’s why I made a Warrior to mess around with Bull’s Charge and 100B, when I play a Thief. You want to find flaws in Thief’s PW, play one yourself.

Instead, this seems like someone complaining while exageratting the “1 shot” part. HS was already nerfed, now they want PW nerfed because they’re too ignorant to keep a stun breaking utility skill.

I bet 10s that the OP probably runs around with nothing but damage utility skills.

I just want to clarify: I don’t think GW2 is bad — I think it’s as close as you can come to a good MMO a la WoW, but the problem being that there are a lot of stuff to fix still.

Guardians are OP as kitten in 8v8, because people don’t know what to do. Guardians are fine when it comes to a 5on5. That’s how I think

So my plea is this:

Make 5on5 hot join a thing.
Make arena with rating (Where you can buy gear for RATING).
Remove the whole tournament system, as it kitten sucks.
Never ever again make a water map (not until you fix your underwater combat).
If you want the sPvP to be conquest, then give an incentive to play conquest (Pulsating +10 pts for standing on a point should be the first thing to be added to sPvP next patch.)

That’s basically it. Everything else is fine.

I will agree, underwater annoys me at times. And the sharks, the kitten sharks I just cant stand…

Judging by your remarks, floods of people who are still in the WoW mindset, are leaving GW2. And I’m fine with that, it’s to be expected.

On the first page, you commented about people not agreeing with you and calling you a troll. While I do feel the word “troll” has been thrown around too much it has lost it’s meaning saying the things like:

Yes you only have 10 skill slots. But how is that any different from having 30 skill slots and only using 10 skills to begin with?

Yes, there are cooldowns unless you’re a thief. But no other games use CD’s right? …Right? No, they do. They even require a gear grind. Which it would seem you want a rating grind now, lol… Why does rating matter? All of the gear is the same in stats. Unless you really need something to show off your kitten.

And lol @ Guardians being OP. I killed two of them back to back the other day and neutralized their cap. They brought more than half their team to that node to zerg me.

Do you have anything between your computer and the modem? Switch? Router? Are your ports open? Any dumb anti virus programs? Anything at all that you might have that would block something from connecting, that others likely would not?

I havent dealt with that issue. The only time I havent been able to access the trading post was when it was down for maintenance. So it seems very odd that most people can access this, but you cannot. I highly doubt ArenaNet would block specific people from giving them money, lol. :p But it really seems like there’s probably an issue on your end.

I just answered a similiar question on a fan site, GW2Guru, and came to the same theory. However, I just made a new Thief to test this. It would seem the hood itself is Soulbound, instead of Account bound. So you cannot send it to your old character, nor can you store it in your bank and take it out with your old character.

This kind of sucks. It seems once you sold that hood/mask/headband, its gone.

Yeah. I’ve hardly used Basilisk Venom. Thieves Guild and Dagger Storm just seem so much better overall. A one second stone effect does not seem worth it, compared to massive bleeding when people are in a cluster, or using thieves guild to take out a trebuchet while you’re fighting the person defending it.

I take it you’re only looking for open world PvP? What’s wrong with the sPvP objective based PvP? O.o

Coming from SW:TOR, and taking a month long break only to come back and find I was behind the competitive gear curve, this is definitely a welcome change. And I have to agree with LoomDart and most others here. Without the gear gap, people will have to accept the fact that they arent as good as they thought they were. Gear grinds suck.

I’ve had BSOD, but it wasnt related to any game itself. Months ago I kept getting memory errors 0×0000000A (or 0xA for short), and 0×124 errors (Uncorrectable Hardware Error). Using that, plus figuring out a bit about Debugging Tools for Windows, along with a lot of Googling, I came to the conclusion that it was a faulty CPU. Replaced it, and havent had an issue with it since. It also, like yours, worked for a bit after a fresh install, and then when it did crash it continuously crashed. That along with getting error codes related to memory, when it turned out to be the L0 Cache for the CPU, was a real pain in the butt to figure out.

That was the first time I diagnosed a hardware, along with a GPU failing over a month ago. So I dont have much experience but I would like to ask if you remember the code you got?

It looks like: Error Code (Parameter1) (Parameter2) (Parameter3) (Parameter4)

If you dont know you could download either: WhoCrashed, BlueScreenView, or Debugging Tools for Windows. The first 2 being much smaller, as debugging tools for Windows is pretty big, I’m assuming it’s like 300mb.

I would start looking at the BSOD code and what it points to. It could very well be the game itself, maybe trying to access memory it shouldnt. Or it could be drivers. Or actually hardware.
