I’m actually really hoping they split off the Tpvp to essentially have a solo queue.
Those of us that want to play 5v5 and with more competitive games but I would hate to have to join free tourney and end up facing a premade. Solo queue is great for more practice and even finding like minded people for premade tourneys.
I agree with nearly everything.
1.) Quickness
The quickness mechanic, it just blows my mind when you see just how much dmg there is in this game and then you can just cut someone’s TTK from 2-3seconds to 1-1.5 seconds. Just like Aion with the stupid sorcerers popping their Quickness and getting off their overkill megaburst within 1 second.
I try to avoid using this stupid skill as much as I can, I don’t think I’ve ever made a thief build that uses it as it just isn’t my playstyle of “blow my load” and run. And I look for sustainable burst. I’ve tried it a few times and it just feels absolutely unfair, just chain cc’ing people and sticking to people hasting pistol whip and dropping even moderately tanky people in 1-2 seconds. You have to have good defensive cooldowns and be FAST to counter it. (It feels so good outplaying haste/burster and killing them w/o it, although I had to work harder just to avoid it than they did to use it.)
Eventually I just get so sick of Spvp with everyone running around herpderping people to death with haste, and makes me wish they’d just dump thekittenskill so people will have to learn how to kill people w/o it.
2.) Pets
Yeah definately, I think they went a little to pet-happy with all the classes. I mean it’s neat and all, especially those that usually enjoy pets (I usually do) having pet options for every class is nice, but it definately becomes too much especially with 8v8.
3.) 8v8
God yes, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gotten frustrated when trying to test out builds and end up being zerged down CONSTANTLY. Even the opposite is true, I run out to cap a point and find myself in a good evenly matched 1v1. Then out of NOWHERE 5 people from my team come and zerg the poor guy down. And I immediately run off to cap somewhere else grumbling to myself.
4.) Pve in spvp
I’m not even going to get started on Capricorn, everything about that level drives me nuts, the underwater combat, sharks, cannon dmg, the layout. Svanir/Chieftan are kind of neat, I like that they tried for something different, especially since Conquest get’s so boring after awhile.
5.) Downed state
I used to despise downstate in spvp in beta, just because for those games where you do just want to kill people (I mean conquest get’s boring eventually and I just want to fight sometimes). But then I got over it, however the more and more I played I start to realize how the downed state is just an excuse to have stupid amounts of burst dmg in the game, and even mechanics like Quickness.
This goes for pve as well. That’s when I start to dislike it again. I’d much rather have downed state and the insane burst dmg removed or lowered to have a bit slower paced fights. Too many pvp games, especially MMO’s go the way of Mega burst twitch play. I was hoping this game would’ve been different.
Camera.) Yes the camera definately needs work with this game, I’m sure they’ll get to it though.
GTAOE.) As someone that used shortbow thief ALOT, I can definately agree with this, it would be VERY nice to have an option that showed your cursor slightly altered while camera grabbing.
Particles.) Most definately, the main reason I want a particle option is because Particles kill my fps so much in pve/wvw to the point that WvW is pretty much unplayable for me. And I’ve seen so many times in pve where I’m getting 30 fps with like 5 people around me, then all of a sudden 2 people use aoe’s and I drop to 10 fps, the fps drops are so inconsistent because of that.
And this is also another issue, being blinded by particles. The fact that they tried to have visual cues with animations instead of having cast bar’s. IMO it just does not work very well, pve and pvp. There are so many abilities that don’t have obvious animations or even have one at all. Warrior Bolas’ is one example, I could never tell when a warrior was tagging me with it til it was too late. Bull’s charge is on the completely opposite end, very easy to anticipate.
This also goes into an issue with the races, telling what a norn is doing compared to an asura is like night and day. In the end I’m starting to think they should just add cast bars, atleast very subtle ones. The game is too reactive and not pro-active enough, which makes defensive cooldowns mandatory, but that’s just my opinion.
I didn’t mean to make a giant wall of text, but those all are issues that have been bothering me as well lol.

This is extremely true with the Ranger’s overbuffed Shortbow auto. Dear lord. I was actually testing build with Short/Long bow’s and in a power/crit build Shortbow auto actually did the same as rapid fire, it’s basically perma-rapid fire with a bleed on top of it.
I even dumped longbow and just used shortbow exclusively with haste + immobilize (both I also feel are problematic effects in the game), and could mow down multiple people with it in like 2 seconds and stack 13+ bleeds.
The thing is, some weapons are designed that way on purpose like Shortbow, every other ability shortbow has is situational/utility, and not used for dmg at all, where otherwise until you use them, you’re just going to be auto’ing for dmg.
They should probably make ability synergize with eachother a little more for dmg output, and maybe even play with auto attack combo’s that have unique effects, so you can stagger auto’s to chain things together. For example, Hammer Warrior or Guardian on the third auto chain has a blast finisher, so say you auto twice, hold it, place a field down, then finish your auto chain for the finisher. Currently you’re auto chain resets if you use something else.

It usually only happens when one just comes out of nowhere from behind when you’re already busy.
IMO haste should just be removed, I hate everything about it. There is enough burst/dmg in the game as it is, and having an ability to just double it out of nowhere is just insane. And if an ability needs haste to be good it should be redesigned. (100B/Pistol Whip, etc)
It feels so cheap to use tbh.
I tend to just go by the red names, just like in every game, ever.
Seems to work fine.
If you can quickly cleanse the immobilize and dodge out, or just use an ability to displace you, you can avoid it completely.
It’s essentially a melee, stationary pet that will attack anything within it’s range each second that applies a 1s immobilize.
If you use the sylvari’s racial version you can tell when using it on a mob that’s moving fast enough to avoid it, and even drag another mob into it to be rooted.
The more I play the more I realize the downed state is just an excuse to have people drop so fast from either random one shots (pve) or just insane spike dmg (please remove haste).
That’s really the only problem I have with it. But it’s still a bittersweet mechanic.
mesmer portals need an indicator to where they are to enemy players.

You know what’s really funny to do? Grab the trait that applies confusion whenever someone crosses glamour border. Find a control point with people fighting, and dump 2 portals.
I’m so glad someone see’s this and posted something. I saw this from beta and was dissapointed.
It really makes 90% of DE’s exactly the same.
Even just changing it by buffing mob hp and throwing in veteran/champion mobs w/o more people would be a step in the right direction.
