But we clearly have different views on what constitutes “winning fights” is.
I’ve sat and watched you lot just continually zerg up to gates. No siege or anything. Just zerg up to the gate and die when you can’t get in.
I’ve seen RUIN members laugh in map chat about how they don’t need siege and that zerging the door works for them. I’ve SEEN an entire ruin zerg wiped out by forces you outnumbered.
You guys are effective because there’s so many of you.
Tactically though…well, judging by what I’ve seen with my own two eyes… you’re pretty kitten.
funny because any time we are on ts, we call for siege to go down immediately. and we havent had more than 70 in wvw at one time the last couple of nights (70 spread between 4 zones mind you)
you seem to be one of those people that just likes to give a skewed viewpoint on things, so i guess ill just leave it at that before you start saying other things.
maybe you are confusing trolls in map chat for actual ruin members. trust me, it happens a lot, and then people wonder why we stay out of map chat talks
Not to mention that every night I’ve seen RUIN try and expand into the borderlands and get embarrassed by the other servers.
They do well in EB but they come into the borderlands and just try and facerub their way through the gate, which is (while hilarious to watch) horribly ineffective and they’ve basically been handing free badges to the other servers, Kodash especially.
i do believe we spent an hour or two taking 95% of the whole map last night, and we spent a good 3 hours chasing a force of 30 or so FS that kept breaking into unupgraded keeps and towers because there were no other players anywhere… easy to see when you can move a force of 50 or more people between any zone you want without ever seeing a queue….
oddly enough, the funny thing about EB is that once we owned it all the whole server that was in EB and defending near the other servers spawn points decided it was a good time to hit the jump puzzle. so while we were trying to keep our lead in the borderlands by chasing ghosts and having to spread thing and use scouts. we also had to continually move back to EB to kick out the force of people that kept trying to take towers back because there were more than 30 some odd people in the jump puzzle in EB, and when we asked them to please hurry up and head out to help defend, we got a lot of flak about how they can do what they want.
and then an hour later, after we had to pull back out of the borderlands for the 5th time to kick them out of towers in the SW due to not having any defenders (yes, we counted the number of people helping to defend, and it was about none or close to none, they were completely unopposed).
so in the end, we lost to the time zone boss once again, we may be an NA guild with some branches extending into other areas, but at 1-2 in the morning, there isn’t much you can do when all of your people are logging out for the day and the rest of the server is complacent from owning the board for a few hours and decides to just puzzle it up instead of keeping what we have.
i hope in the future, the server realizes that we need everyone that is there to help out, and that if you absolutely have to do that jump puzzle to save a couple of silver or something, then just be done with it and head back out.

^ that would be awesome, would love team collision, it would help keep too many people from squeezing into tiny areas for sure too.
…… it can be fixed, the culling was implemented to help improve performance for lower end users in large scale fights, they even turned the culling off a couple of times last week in specific battlegrounds as what i assume was a test, because for about 5 hours of play we had slightly low fps but every single person was rendering like they should have been.
guaranteed they dont care much about the pvp of the game if there are still pve things to worry about

it is actually very VERY interesting how arena net has been touted as all about getting rid of bots, keeping the game fair.
but in super small zones that only allow 160 from each faction, that it would be hard to detect bots doing figure 8’s in PvE spots, in a 95% PvP area, that is so dynamically changing that you really couldn’t run a bot to perform realistic PvP actions to keep up.
somehow the bots run 24/7, farming the same mobs 24/7, dont get a single player kill, and arena net just kinda stands off to the side and says “wow those players are pretty solid in their routine, if they kill enough skrit, they may stumble onto the super secret skrit army and take stonemist with it! lets watch!”
way to go doing bot police a-net… i’d let PvE slide, because there are some funky players there, but in WvW it is pretty sad that there are hundreds of bots operating in zones that actually limit players from getting in
for reference just look at the funny Bot videos posted to youtube, showcasing how stupid a lot of the bot farming areas are, underwater spots for kraits, and the skrit, etc.
i do wish certain aspects of keep defenses would remain invulnerable until gates have been broken.
make cannons and oil take 1/10th damage (like doors) until the doors have been destroyed, and then have them despawn once doors are destroyed that they protect. it is easy enough to kill the players manning them, but at least it gives the aspect of a possible defense that can be manned by an outnumbered force.
even though we are mostly on the attacking side being in Ruin, it is only fun for so long just rolling through objectives, the real satisfaction is tearing through a super fortified and heavily defended structure and going through an awesome fight where you end up possibly dying (or dying) multiple times and getting saved in the nick of time by a good teammate.
the best days of WvW were the initial Beta weekends, when everybody was sub 40 (for the most part). there were no OP builds, everything felt…. equal…. and siege could really do some damage.
The interest in the low price is exactly what they’re counting on. See, when you contact them, they’ll ask for your login, so they can “transfer to you the golds and levels”.
Now they have your money AND you’re a gold farmer/spammer.
well not sure if you guys realized this, but you cannot login to your account unless its through the approved IP address… and the only way they could do that is if they got your account password, AND your email password to approve it, hopefully you aren’t doing the thing that fresh to the internet people do and using the same or similar password everywhere, because that makes it real easy for anyone (not just gold selling hackers) to get your account info for multiple things.
simply put, use good passwords that are different from each other on everything, dont install trojans, and regardless of where you use your credit card, keep an eye on the bill because thieves dont just lurk on video games.. this is common sense to anything revolving around secrets and numbers and passwords.
p.s. if they got your info for your account, it wasn’t through hacking or through your gold purchase, it was most likely because you have a trojans from a bad download or bad website and your anti-virus isn’t good enough…. 90% of hacked accounts are from trojans and other viruses that gather info and sell the info to various sources
I believe it is sold by Tactician Draga in Highpeaks but I am not 100% sure (might be a different tier). I also found tier 7 orbs in Talabaroop Waves and Despond Precipice.

the distribution of manpower is a problem for everyone, and after trying for multiple weeks to get more overnight power to counter the “nightcapping” that guarantees large servers a win , there was nobody willing to move. so we did our part and moved to a server that has no force on when we are normally on, so that when we hit tier 1 in the EU, there will be more than 1 server with a force at night. vizunah has been dominating because of their canadian forces, and we aim to balance it out.

With the full intent to move up to tier 1 and battle against the canadians causing the night capping problem on the other servers.
the more we get large guilds and people who are willing to move to servers that need forces in those times to compete with the other servers that are dominating, the more fun it will be for everyone.

shoulda been on 3 hours ago or so, we decided to do our transfer and play a little to see what happens, and we were able to take control of 90% of the map before kodash started to wake up for their day i believe.
hopefully the EU servers have some decent nightcrews so its not constant PvDoor, we are really hopin for some solid battles come this friday when people realize that the fight is going to last 24 hours a day now, and that giving up shouldnt happen… when we logged in it was still possible for desolation to take a win, and we hoped we could push them towards it a bit more. only time will tell.

maybe instead of posting a picture and throwing a thousand words at it that you think fit, we can just look at it and realize that archaos was recruiting for ET during the third day of competition when we had a score of 175000 vs their 49k and 15k, in hopes of getting more night forces to compete with the bandwagon server that was hendge (before its collapse to the new bandwagon server that is Jade quarry). a quick screenshot of a golem conga line and its all history after that. we were already set up at the spawn owning nearly 100% of the map save a few supply camps, and it was prime time for all players to be out in WvW. if they won’t play against us, then they might as well play with us and help to work towards the top right?
we apologize if you think that somehow its making an kitten of ones self to recruit for a guild during an already won battle, while taking a funny picture.

because i have 400 hours logged on my guardian, and ITS SO G D DUMB to switch these skills around.. it makes ZERO sense whatsoever except that you want to make it “pretty” and arrange them by CD time…

arena net has stated specifically that bypassing the mechanic of downing walls and gates to gain entry to a keep is an exploit, no matter what… if a mesmer is inside, that means that he had to have walked through a downed wall, a downed gate, or been hiding inside while it turned. not jumping over a structure to use a portal gun to leap into it.
im sorry but you are just another one of those guys who says theres no such thing as exploiting game mechanics, just clever use of game mechanics.
but when anet says that there are specific ways to gain entry to a keep/tower, then there are specific ways and aren’t meant to be bypassed by finding special pieces of terrain to stand on while shooting a pve gun for easy access before anyone can respond for defense.

you aren’t special, this has been going on since the early beta testing, and was reported because its simply B.S. to find a special place to stand, to shoot a gun, and gain access to an otherwise inaccessible piece of terrain by any class skill in the game.
also a good reason why rangers get pets, and using an ogre war horn to get a pet isn’t intended in a WvW match where, if your entire 50 man raid had 50 war horns summoning 50 ranger type pets, you can imagine how bad that would be… or maybe you wouldn’t…..
btw, also why they disabled the spy kit, because perma stealth through consumables, is the same type of exploit as teleport-gunning to locations that no one should reach

queues are…. well.. queues.
as they stated, you can queue for one at a time.
thta being said you can queue while playing in another.. so play in a borderland while being queued for EB.
but, they say they fixed queues and you have to understand that it isn’t a consistent time from person to person anyway… if 160 people are playing, and 10 people log off at once, you and 12 of the people you queued with will be going WTF when 10 get in, and you and your other buds have to wait another hour for someone to leave so you can get in.
it is better in a sense that you no longer get people getting in before others who have been waiting in queue longer… from my perspective at least.
please keep it on topic though.

it will be a deterrent for the average 12 year old that is always broke, bu tpeople who have tons of gold or who buy gold wont have problems spending 10g to transfer or more.
what we need is something in a profile that tells us where the last 2 server transfers the person made and when…. even if its just in guild information to catch these people or something
as well as needing in game GM’s specifically for WvW… even having just 1 gm per server matchup would make a world of difference, WvW reports, go to the WvW gm who can go and take a look at whats happening and make a ruling on it.
lets face it, we need referees at this point now that people have found out how easy it is to manipulate matches
^ of course if you crush your opponents you shouldn’t be punished… you are still winning though, and no matter what, if you are holding more territory for the numbers, then you will be getting the appropriate score..
if the opponents give up. you still win, its not like they can just give up and you suddenly go into last place.
in a game like this, it will eventually get to the same point its at right now, where X number of servers completely dominate because of population spread.
and then the problem with people just giving up comes from seeing completely unbeatable odds when it comes to points.
its a much better drive for players to log on and know that they may be outnumbered 5 to 1 vs the top server, but if they can take and hold at least 150 points worth of stuff, then they can stay in the game, and hopefully make it to their next prime time..
this isn’t just for tier 1 matchups.. this is for all the way down to the last matchup where kaineng is always outnumbered, but keeps fighting… if they could possibly put up a fight worthy of getting enough points, then thye would lose by 20k instad of 400k. which would make it not only more of a fight for everyone by the numbers, but would encourage more people to come back to WvW simply because “they have a chance to come back” and aren’t completely dominated by the number board

guesting isn’t in. so let PvE guys transfer once a day, cool, but don’t let people ruin the WvW game by transferring and doing something (if anything) in WvW to ruin it for others that is unintended by the designers
this is what a posted in the last scoring thread.
to me, its the only fair and viable option to help even out the scores. it wont give anyone an unfair advantage, just makes it less of a faceroll during the times when a server doesn’t have as many players as the other
if you have 100% of your people and the other two teams only have 20% of their people, you should not be getting 100% of your score… basically winning because of an unpopulated server, it should be giving you less points per tick because you can simply hold ground 100 times easier due to numbers.
if its a full queued up server vs 2 unqueued and undermanned server, they should realistically get 20% of their total points if the other two teams average % of people to full is 20%.
so say team 1 is at 100% capacity,
team 2 is at 75% capacity, and team 3 is at 25% capacity.
that means that team 1 will only get 50% of their total ppt each time.
team 2 will get 62.5%
and team 3 will get 87.5% of their ppt
so if team 1 held 325, then they would get 162.5
team 2 held 250, then they would get 156.25
and team 3 had 120 then they would get 105
as you can see. it doesn’t give people a huge advantage for purely outnumbering anyone, and we all know that even though they won’t get tons of points per tick, they will still be gaining score, but it wont be a blowout overnight.
this would, IMHO, steer the points system in the correct direction to allows more fights between servers with obvious population gaps at times to be a more fair game.
when outnumbered, you won’t totally be obliterated with nothing you can possibly do, even though this is your normal play time… and you wouldn’t have to try and switch servers just to find a good one.
this also means that when the servers are getting full queues vs each other that if one really is 250 points ahead of another, then they will get 100% of their tick score because they are fighting against full forces.
perfect? no, obviously no, nothing is perfect.
but it feels like the best solution to help alleviate some issues with population differences that cant be solved by asking people to politely transfer on the forums…

obviously server pride should have been established long before the 1 week matches started, but unfortunately you still established guilds like TL moving to highly populated tier 1 servers to jump on the winnings of already established servers..

Rule 97: When someone from your server hacks, but the rest of your server has class, stand down for a while.

it used to be worse..
when you did kill someone, if you got credit, while on siege or if they ran a mile away, the bag would be on the corpse and then you would have to search the battlefield for loot bags.
then the devs came on in the beta forums and obliged our requests and let us know that while they could not currently make things spawn directly in the inventory as it caused too many other problems, that thye would instead make the bags spawn at your feet instead so people using siege would’t miss out on loot just becaues they werent on the ground fighting.
so stop with the threads, they have already stated multiple times that they are working on it, and have put in this temporary fix until they can get a permanent solution. there are a lot of other more important issues that more people would like fixed ahead of loot being left behind on a battlefield.
populations seem a bit off this week. makes me wonder how many fair weather players have decided that WvW just isnt for them anymore.
typically for the first 3-4 days of WvW theres a ton of people that cant wait to get in
fyi, that gate is a little funky, you have to kinda be above it to repair it. sometimes on the outside. not a hack.
nothing like quitting before the real game even gets started haha..
bugs in the game being fixes, mechanics still being tunes. matches not full length.
the funniest thing is, they actually claim they are “undefeated” but they haven’t played any real matches yet…. free transfers are still active because its still balancing.
how lame TA turned out to be, they were the best competition too (HoD mostly, TA only makes up 15% of the HoD pop anyway.)

you should go and use the ramp that lets you jump up to the top of there.
its high enough to be out of range of the keep lord area so you can’t aoe from the top down, but its close enough to the sides to be able to hit people coming in from the gates. try it out

I suppose it helps us in the end however., feeding misinformation around.
The issues with AA are plain to see, for anyone with insight:
- Over-focus on planning aspects that were ultimately of no relevance to your competitive capability (see: leaked PR spreadsheets), but raised the stature of AA far too early – practicallly ensuring NSP was going to overloaded at launch. The resulting queue time issues led to a decision to server transfer that significantly fragmented and weakened AA as a rival;
- Inability to control internal drama and lack of ethics re: use of spies that cost you important guilds in key EU timezones around launch (see: leaked leaving posts on AA forums); and
- Unsuccessful assessment of the culture and capabilites of the Oceanic/Asian gaming regions and associated inability to ensure adequate particpation levels from a starting roster size far larger than TA.
We built an alliance and implemented an approach that was specifically intended to compete with the few hardcore alliances that were being promoted pre-launch, in the top tier of the game. What AA had on paper was ostensibly a very powerful force, with extensive 24/7 coverage.
However – your resulting failure to deliver on this potential, and subsequent critical missteps that have compounded the issues, are at the root of the problems with the top tier of WvW today.

I think the point here is, the trebs have to great of a range, or the keeps/towers/castles don’t have enough between them, and I think everyone can agree on that.
i dont think trebs have toogreat of a range. they are actually dead on for what they should be, but the problem people face is that people are finding better spots to put them and know where a treb can go and what it can hit by using a height advantage. and then the problem becomes.

and nearly every single person has told you in the nicest way that you are just plain wrong. there is no point on this map where a treb fires that it looks like its firing 6.2 miles in distance.

do me a favor, learn simple math and learn to count, then stop posting because the trebs in the game fire a realistic amount of 130 meters according to player speeds and landscape

and the difference is, he said 3000 toughness, and that is a huge difference than saying 3000 defense, or 3000 armor
i think another important thing to point out, is that we don’t want to affect the outcome of a match simply by trying to recruit people during the time when the match can be won by anyone in second place or third.

I took those screenshots, and i created the reddit post, but it seems like other people are more upset about it than I am.

We’re not that good and our population is heavily imbalanced. Even without free server transfers ET would’ve wiped the floor with us anyway.
Nobody even bothered leaving the spawn from the sides because there were at most 15 of us there at that time and all the nearest supply camps were also heavily camped and defended.I personally have no problems with RUIN transferring servers to recruit more oceanic/asian players.
Server transfers were made free for a reason, and RUIN noticed their lack of oceanic/asian presence earlier on and took initiative by using their match against us to recruit; that’s pretty clever.
And everything Archaos said in the chat that night was correct. SoS is not a WvW focused server and anyone who’s passionate about it would’ve done better to transfer to ET so they can enjoy WvW more and ET becomes more powerful; it’s win-win.I don’t have any irrationally loyalty to SoS myself, but guesting isn’t implemented yet and my friends are still here so i couldn’t bring myself to transfer just for WvW.

we all know how ridiculous the forum posters get when they see a picture and add 1 thousand words they feel go with it regardless of who took it and what is actually happening.
and the transfers don’t just apply to ET. people should transfer to any other server that they feel could use the help.
the top 6 servers could be having a blast if the populations were more balanced. but as it stand, whenever we (ET) get knocked down to the second tier because of our lack of oceanic presence to match the oceanics presence on HoD (yes, its true, HoD has far more oceanics on when we don’t have oceanics on), then we end up steamrolling everyone in tier 2 because there is a huge gap between us and them when it comes to prime time play and oceanic time play.
the sad part of it is, to get to the top tier and stay in the top tier we need to get more oceanics which would make it even more imbalanced for people in the second tier if we get knocked back again.
