If you are just spectating, why don’t you just wait for people to try to stack and force switched and leave when someone leaves to force balance? Be dat anti-troll.
If a player kills another player after scoreboard is prompted, both players should die.
Would bring back some funny weird stuff like GW1 did randomly.
“Why?” isn’t the question. “Why not?”
People tell “the stacking” to do tPvp in HotJoins when they want to play on the same team as their friends. The problem is when you jump into tPvp, all you see is gimmicky/meta builds that aren’t fun to play against.
I, personally, fought countless stacking teams because I feel it will make me a better player in time. Adjusting traits vs situations, etc… Knowing what you can and cannot handle. If you approach a point and see what’s on it. Can you hold the point long enough to stall them? Can you burst one down? What else do they have on their team that could potentially jump into the fight and make it too much for you to handle?
This is what I did with my Ele and now my build is pretty rock solid (d/d) which I never thought could be viable even against burst warriors and burst guards (even take down most necros).
Remember, you can also switch servers if you are not having fun.

Because underwater combat is really imbalanced.
…and anyone can turn into a troll on Skyhammer (not class specific). :P
Downed state encourages teamwork.
Notice the better/best teams actually rez downed people?
Also reminds me of D&D, lol.
If it takes the thief longer than like 45 seconds to kill the guy on the point (including downed state while on the point), then that person guarding the point did their job.
Stalling also can win the current state of PvP since all you have to do is cap points to win…
I also saw somewhere you are a necro? If you know there’s a thief, switch out a utility for a Well and be annoying to the thief. If they are pistols, dodge a lot during unload and pew pew back.
Try playing a full melee warrior vs a blind happy thief. That’s always fun. :P
Cleanse Ire doesn’t work because you ARE Blind… That’s it’s weakness… (unless using F1 from LB then Blind doesn’t matter)
As a warrior, I will say that conditions SHOULD be your downfall.
You should only need 1-2 of those defensive mechanics listed (if any at all).
If you want to kill, kill. If you want to defend, defend. If you want to be balanced, then you will not kill hard enough to another balanced build. The changes to how Power works is actually better than before. For example, if thieves actually want to spike like before, they have to be a tad more squishy to do it.
Try a 6, 5, 0, 0, 3 build and just kill them before they kill you. <3
(Or be annoying and run heavy support shouts heals and remove conditions or another carry-me build. :P)
I agree with this discussion.
I think the only ability that shouldn’t be changed is SR since you can be knocked out of it (aka a counter). That should stay as a strong and hard stealth especially being a utility (not something passive).
If anything needs toned down, it’s their axes steal from warriors… it’s better than our own axe skill… lol.
Maybe they can turn 8v8 into more of a guild match style setup?
That would be pretty cool.
I, personally, like the changes. The only downside is one team is winning and you have only 4 people on your team and nobody wants to join because they don’t want to get “crushed”. You stand in little hopes of actually winning because 4v5 (everything needs to be done with one player short) is much more difficult to win than a 7v8 match setup.
nope………………
Works fine for me…
I like how there are so many complaints yet I’ve seen more s/tPvPers since the patch… even people from my PvE guild is playing s/tPvP. :P
Ahh Zone and her cute build.

Seriously though, I remember running it for a while pre-torment and it was a blast then. Sometimes I use a variant of this build, but it’s more bursty than just out living. After much experimentation, if what you are fighting is going to kill you with conditions, you will most likely die from those conditions regardless of how much anti-condition skills you have (except zerker stance where that’s your chance to actually kill them before they kill you). I would take Stab trait over Cleanse Ire since 3-4 shouts is more than enough condition removal and that’s what this build lacks (as we discussed in game). Also, because it’s more focused on anti-conditions, I have noticed that anyone that hits hard enough with a little condition removal will give this build problems making it very difficult to 1v2 if one of them are Zerker and not conditions. Necro fearspam troll builds also don’t help (which is why you have the Stab trait; best thing is if they actually want to CC you with fear, they’d have to waste two nice skills just to CC rather than one, wait until runs out then use the other).
See ya on the battlefield, Zone! <3
There is no problem asking other Necros what they are using and/or what they used to hit you so hard. You think the condition built Necros would be worse, but Power Necros will kill you in seconds.
-If you see Lich, either stay behind them if there are multiple targets, if it’s 1v1, don’t try to take it (unless they hit like a wet noodle) because it isn’t worth handing them the kill and the cap. If the necro is any good, the AA from Lich should be doing 4-5k dmg each hit easy.
-Don’t let them get life force (evade frequently and interrupt their skills that give them the most life force boosts)
-If you are conditioning them, expect their heals to be bigger because most of them use the healing based on conditions.
-As other said, keep them CC’ed if you can, if not, kill them before they kill you.
-Know when to burn your CDs like Zerker Stance (this one alone will take you a long way if you time it right).
-If they throw down wells, DO NOT STAND IN THEM. You gain vuln so you die faster. Once again, if they are power builds, you’ll die in a few hits.
That’s off the top of my head. Feel free to contact me in game if you have other questions. I have a few Necro friends yet never played one myself, but I know “enough” for what screws me over as Warrior, lol.
The reason for the change is due to the stacking of certain stats and still being viable with your build. Without amulets, you either tank and don’t do damage or play balanced or play full glass.
It’s rather irritating when a overly bunkered engi can stand in 100b from a full zerker with no buffs (no prot) and only losing about 10% hp and still being viable for laying out conditions that still hurt.
It makes it so you actually have to play your spec within s/tPvP. I have been thinking about this for a while and this answered my questions. Taking out those secondary states really negate min-maxing. People just angry because their troll builds won’t work anymore… :/
lol
u realize with jewels used for custom builds it was against min-maxing? now with no customisation via jewels u will always have min-max builds playing against each other.
the situation u describing will still be there. as a hint: settlers amulett
problem with this change is that usually min-max builds + bunch of certain traits to compensate cause problems. this change push every player into thoose builds.
Sigh, I have to re-type this again… I’ll do the short version:
Customization is with the traits, not the amulet. This would force people to experiment more with other traits and trait lines even though there will still be some core traits to have (like mesmer dodge-roll, for example).
Also, this means if you have 30 in Toughness and Vitality branches, you’ll hit like a wet noodle. The balance between Tankiness to Glass will be much more even; you give up something to gain without having any other factors to give what you do not have.
What makes me happy about this is I did not have to bash my head against meta built teams in tpvp for quick rank points or farm or anything – just had fun. And there are ranks above r47? I’m sure that’s about when I stopped caring. c:
If you don’t actually cap the point within 45 seconds, then the defender has done their job. :P

I am just glad to see a few people actually aren’t blaming ANet for the faults; it is all NCSoft.
I know plenty of people that worked for them/working for ANet and I can say they do want to see the game do well, but, unfortunately, money is usually the top goal for most CEOs. Money, Money, Money…
Another thing I would like to point out about the “programming side” is each object probably has an ID and simply changing a “checkbox” would probably break more than you’d think. They would have to create a new object replicating the older one with a new ID and use that to “replace” the old ID in inventories (that means searching through everyone’s table of data – bank, inventory, etc…). So, yeah, it’s more complicated when you are dealing with deprecated objects vs crashing a game. :S
The build is probably mine… was it a female Charr in T3?

Shield sigil may vary and amulet is Barbarian (power + perc + vitality*) if there are necros or engis (high condition spammers in general).

Honestly, though, it’s pretty cheese especially in zergy games. Just run around auto attacking and fall asleep, lol.
Hope that helps,
-BlitzpawPS: Did the build have quickness at all?
This seems very similar to what I saw. Probably the closest I’ve seen, but I felt like the other War had more Toughness than this produces. But without trying it out, I guess I don’t know for sure.
I’ll definitely give this a shot tonight, as it’s the closest to what I had in mind so far. Thanks very much for sharing! I’ll add you and let you know how it goes! Appreciate the support from everyone.
PS – don’t recall seeing quickness, but no promises.
If you don’t use your stability, you are sitting at around 2.5-2.6k toughness plus 3 regens. Healing Signet + Adren Regen + Trait Proc (when immob and such).
The only reason why I asked about quickness because I have been messing with a variant of the build which hits hard and “quick”. Far less tanky than that build though.
Glad to help! Feel free to contact me in game, too, for any questions you may have!

When I first started messing with GS, I thought the GS Burst was useless, but after doing plenty of PvP, you start to see the uses of the skill. The problem is most builds just do not utilize it for it’s purpose.

S/S still works great if you know how to burst your conditions and you aren’t capping out (over 25) stacks of bleed with other party members. It is actually very tanky, if used correctly with nice control over bosses that move and can be immob’ed.
A trick to that is get behind them before they turn and immob and they will not attack you with regular attacks because they are facing the other way.
Sword MH also allows you to jump around, as other said, but you can also get back into the fight faster to continue DPS. Sword 5 what you can block though and continuing to stack your bleeds.
I’ve ran a build like this a while back and it’s fun to watch monsters and bosses melt. The good thing about warriors are you can still go full zerker and still do nice damage (sword 3: final thrust) with S/S. Tip: Use quickness procs.

20 points in defense for dogged march and cleansing ire + healing sig. After that, play what you want.
Agreed with this.
Healing sig just makes you “tankier”, but Healing Surge is still viable as long as you have those two traits. You can switch out dogged march if you have healing sig.
