1.) That won’t happen. They might make system where transfering to lower tier servers is cheaper to balance the tiers some but I highly doubt they’ll lower the price for a gold league server such as Gandara.
2.) Maybe you can make a new acc on Gandara for the discounted price?
3.) We lack commanders not players. sure population is an issue(especially in off hours) but the main problem is that we don’t have enough commanders to keep people going.

As a zerker mesmer vs zerker thief you should probably do like the one in this vid. Use focus instead of torch against thieves. It’s a way better defence and temporal curtain can truly mess up a thiefs game.
Last time this happened (for only 1 week) Underworld was last place 16 weeks in a row. So in 2-3 weeks time of free transfers what could possibly go wrong? lol.
this is the right train of thought to me.
evaluate the current worlds active wvw population. make the bottom 1/3 free, the middle 1/3 discounted, leave the top 1/3 the same.
do this 2-4 times a year for about a week at a time. i think wvw would remain more balanced.
I’d be fine with something like this. Though if some big guilds would decide to transfer down it would pretty much break up the entire tier probably for several weeks before stabilizing :/ maybe with some limit on the number of people that can transfer to eah server.
It might make a bit of a difference if the T2 server that is swamping IOJ, NSP and whomever in the future was unable to build any WP’s anywhere on any borderland. Wothca think?
You guys are fighting the 7:th ranked server and are 8+9. I’t the server you should be facing. Or do you think that the highest rated server in every mathcup should have no access to WP’s? Just seems like a short term sollution to overstacked servers that would maybe be good for you(atm) but bad for everyone else.

I have an alt on Deso which I barely play on. Sure the 24/7 blobbing might be interesting but I really don’t feel like I’m needed there. I’m always needed on UW and the people on UW are amazing <3 (That doesn’t mean deso is bad ofc, I enjoy deso from time to time.)
I think most of the servers in bronze(EU) can que maps but I’ve never once seen Underworld do it.
The off hours can be a little strange because they’re not really defined by anything. Sometimes all servers got 30-man zergs at 2p.m. and other times it’s all roamers, scouts and upgraders. There is alot of roamers down here and alot of them are very good at the game and nice people to talk or duel against. Sure sometimes you run into pure cheese builds but it’s much worse in the higher tiers.
I can’t say the average player on UW knows what “bomb” means and even if they did I doubt I’d have any success asking for it. Zerg-fights down here doesn’t always look the same like they often do in the top tiers, we run with what we have and it’s almost always people from all parts of the game: Roamers, uplvls, zergers, pve-players they’re all welcome to join-in and no one is forced or expected to change their style of play. Organization be kitten ed :P and there’s nothing more fun than creating a zerg of uncoordinated roamers and beating fully organized guilds.
Overall I have much more fun in bronze but I’m still amazed at the organization of high tier sevrers and I can see why people would be drawn to it.
EU would win that without any problem.. NA just can’t be motivated if there is no oil to be fought for..
well if you look at leaderboard points by world. seems to me like EU worlds wouldn’t even qualify for NA T1
True. NA got guilds for all timeslots (NA, EU, OCX etc..) while EU T1 almost only have EU guilds so most EU T1 probably couldn’t contend with top tier NA, on coverage alone. Only exception might be SFR.
That said I think T2/3/4 might be very interesting with alot of servers fighting for top spots: YB, DB, FA, SoS, Deso, JS, FSP, Kodash and Gandara would probably all be contenders for those spots and lower tiers might be interesting too but as said upthread NA does have a huge advantage since their primetime comes right after EU prime.

The GM’s have to see him do it in game.. I hate to say it but he’s not going away anytime soon. On UW I know people have reported several times and we’ve had no results so far. I guess you could try and get alot of people to report or /w a GM as soon as he starts doing it and hope we might get someone to come check it out(preferably before he’s finished capping everything..). After months of this it does seem pointless though.

All of us (GMs) have character names starting with GM (GM Proheals, for example). We are online 24/7 and responding to reports sent by you via the in-game reporting system. 98% of the time we’re invisible clearing bots and the like.
To remove someone using hacks (teleports, speed, etc) we have to witness the act in game so you must use the in-game reporting tool. The only exception is if you can point us to chat where the player cheating has said they are using a 3rd party program.

UW currently ticking 680, I don’t want to say it’s all because of that scum, but videos from my fellow WSRers makes me think that.
We also encountered the FoW cheater several times last week. And we had experience of Dzs using the skritt bottle exploit a few weeks ago when we were beating them.
The thing with this particular one is that he’s really annoying and constant with his actions. I was used to cheater using their tools a couple of times and that is that, this one continuously uses his. So annoying that people doesn’t want to play this match anymore.
Believe me, it’s pretty much all his work. The only map he doesn’t go is UW bl probably so he won’t be seen. Yeah, most just do it once or twice but this guy and the FoW hacker plays late night to PPT leading me to believe it might be the same person with two accounts since the FoW hacker hasn’t been as active after this guy showed up.
I wouldn’t say it’s a great success since we usually tick very low at night time. But yeah we have at least 2 hackers that I know of that sadly hasn’t been banned. I wasn’t on at reset night but I would guess that one of them was active then too since we capped the WSR keeps :/ I also know of 2 BT hackers so it’s not like you guys are all innocent ^^
I’m sorry you’re having a hard time tho. We were ourselves very annoyed by a FoW hacker a few weeks ago so I know how frustrating it can be.

On T9 EU we really have to look for fights by running across the whole map and even then it occurs that we can’t find anyone to fight. White swords allowed us to find enemies and fights that much faster. Now it’s just a long series of karma training empty camps, towers and keeps.

I can spend an entire day to upgrade the UW home border(alone or with 1-2 more players) by running back and forth between keeps, towers and camps upgrading, walking dollies and calling for help if I see a big group show up. Upgraded keeps is the only thing keeping people interested in defending the borderland in the first place and now there’s no way for me to tell if something is attacked if I’m not there and therefore there’s no way for me to defend or call for help until it’s too late, if I dont happen to be where the enemy attacks just as they decide to do so. Right now I will not be able to upgrade much at all and I will have to be there the entire time from paper to wp.
Now since you’re from FoW you probably know how UW is at night/morning. If not you can check the income evolution for our matchup(Week 50): http://mos.millenium.org/servers/view/2/
All day it’s about equal and every night FoW score skyrockets because UW and BT don’t have enough(sometimes, no) players at this time. I mean for UW it’s usually 0-5 wvw players total on all maps at late night- unless we got a karma train going, which is very rare. And now the very few people we have at night won’t even be able to tell which structures are attacked before they flip. If a few pve player should dare hop into wvw at night they’ll have no clue what to do and probably just leave shortly after.
This change is as we can see no good for low pop/bad coverage servers and it doesn’t help smallscale fights since the groups are more likely to miss eachother than to meet in a fight. That said I still enjoy the extra need for callouts of enemy movement and such at primetime but that doesn’t really work for any timeslot when servers are low on population.
(BTW: The time UW got a high tick on early wednesday was a hacker capping all keeps in no time at all and we’re all sorry about that. It shouldn’t be allowed to happen.)
Tho sometimes in smaller groups I change mantra of resolve to Nullfield and some accessorys might be different.
I’m not sure what needs to be done but this needs to be fixed. UW is currently even worse than usual with almost no one playing and it’s come to the point that I’m telling new players how they can change server for a better one because I don’t want them to get stuck here. And if they get stuck here they’ll just stop playing after a few weeks because there’s no one playing. Anet is losing both new and old players on doing nothing and need to start doing something.
A merger of a few of the lower ranked servers might be necessary. This is short sighted and is not really a fix, I know. But at least you will be able to see someone when you go into wvw and new players will have fewer servers to chose from which will hopefully lead to all servers getting a little more of the new players than they would when there were 27 servers.
At least for EU I know that UW, Vabbi and FoW got a very low wvw population. BT got horrible coverage even though they have quite alot of people(for playing against UW and FoW) and WSR/DZ seems to be doing ok atm but won’t have much of a chance against the servers higher ranked than them.
Maybe these server could be merged into higher ranked servers so UW or FoW + RoF, DZ + Miller, Vabbi + RoS, WSR + BT + FoW or UW (and maybe Aborstone + FR?) The problem with this is of course that a few of the merged servers might be stacked and crush servers that weren’t merged as AG or GH and there’s no guarantee of people not leaving the new server making it another wasteland.
(^This is just an example of how it could be done and in no way am I saying it should be just like this or involving this many servers.)
As I said I don’t have the perfect solution but Anet needs to do something.
Transfers to servers in lower tiers than your current server should be free.
Let’s pick Ring of Fire[EU] and Whiteside Ridge[EU] as an example: RoF is currently doing bad and have lost guilds while WSR is doing pretty good, what’s to stop RoF players to transfer to WSR before WSR get’s to their tier? Won’t this just make even more ppl bandwagon off a server in hopes of ranking up, creating more stacked servers? On top of that the fear of being stuck on a dead server will make even more ppl transfer away while they have the chance.
Could we get some sort of clarification if the white crosses really are to be removed or if the devs really listen to their players response about it. Reason i am asking, there is a lot of tensions and discussions about this everywere and people are angry and sometimes even toxic about it in chats, so over all i think it would be a good move to let us know how this have turned out so we can move on.

I personally think the Adopt a dev initiative was really successful. Hugh (nightmare) screened 3 times or so during reset night. It was incredibly insightful to hear his comments. It was great hearing about WHY anet made certain changes. I’d say it was the single best communication from ANET that I’ve seen.
We need to see MORE of these types of programs, not less.
I agree. And as a bronze player I thought it was really interesting to see how the game is played on the top tier servers and hear how excited Hugh is about the game. Even though I don’t agree with all the changes they want to do now I still thnk it was a great idéa and would like to see a repeat of it in the future!

The adopted devs got together again earlier this week for a lunch meeting to bring feedback from their guilds and discuss their observations. The team has already begun addressing some of the feedback the devs brought back as well as some of the issues that you have brought up on our forums.
Coming with the build next week, build sites for rams will be trimmed down in size. This is to reduce the visual clutter with build sites, since rams are often built very close to each other, and make it easier to tell a ram apart from other siege when you are building it. There are also changes coming later to label the build interacts with what you are building. So you should see “Build Ram”, “Build Catapult” etc. instead of just “Build”. These were suggestions taken from the discussion on siege trolls.
We are going to make a balance pass on Siege Disablers. This was one of the most common pieces of feedback both from our adopted devs and from the forums. We really believe that Siege Disablers were a great addition to the game. They gave defenders a better chance of holding off attackers, they created new strategies and they created some fun fights outside of objectives by buying some time. But we agree that they need to be adjusted. We will be looking at things like radius, cooldowns and duration of the effect.
There were a handful of other tweaks brought up in our discussions that we are planning. These include reducing the number of people who can rally off of a kill. Removing white swords from objectives to give defenders a stronger role in alerting their team as well as giving attackers more of a chance to get through having their siege disabled. We are also going to test out awarding points per kill. PPK was part of the scoring discussion and something we wanted to try. We will be looking for your feedback on that change after it goes live.
Some bigger issues are factoring into longer term work. For example, we have been discussing what we have learned from our conversations on the forums as well as the feedback our adopted devs brought back from their guilds on the topics of population imbalance and scoring. These are bigger changes and are factoring into longer term solutions that the team is working on.
The team has a lot to chew on but some areas that I’d like to discuss more with the community in the near future are rewards and supporting some vital roles like scouting and defending. I’ll kick off some discussions on these areas in the next couple of weeks.
I was happy to hear from the devs that they would all love to do this again and felt it was a very fun and valuable way to spend their free time. Many of them have made some great new friends and they all felt like this was a great way to really connect with the community by playing side by side with new faces and getting new perspectives on Guild Wars 2.
Thanks again to everyone who signed up for or hosted a dev! We had a great time!

Why is everyone raging here?! This is a good change. it encourages groups to go scout stuff, and not everyone sticking to 1 commander mindlessly following. You can still do that but don’t complain if they ninja keeps from you…

First good WvW change I’ve seen in a LONG time!
Heh. I defended fully upgraded bay yesterday for an hour(I was the only one on the map) outnumbered against 6 ppl. Do you really believe most servers will be able to scout the map when we can’t even gather defenders for fully upgraded keeps? Most low pop servers have very few players on at late hours and this will just make it so that the very few defenders we have on at night time will simply see towers flipping without being able to do anything about it.

I’m curious how much stronger of a role you need me to play as a defender/scout? Coming from a low population, bronze server, I’m curious which of the following roles aren’t broad enough:
Spending most of my gold buying, upgrading, and placing siege.
Spending the rest of my gold upgrading keeps and towers.
Spending a lot of my time building siege in those towers.
Spending the rest of my time running from keep to keep and tower to tower just so that I can refresh that siege and upgrade those structures.
Occasionally see some swords (that you’d apparently like to take away) that tell me what place I should look in on next, so that I can give the alarm moments too late for anyone to do anything.

It’s already hard enough to get people to upgrade and siege things and with this update it will be even harder because us on the smaller servers will have no chance to defend our stuff.
I can see it being an interesting change on the big servers where you have alot of people on at all times but for everyone else this is a really bad idéa(Except for Vabbi, cause they’ll nightcap like never before ).
I know for sure that if this happens UW will be karma trained 24/7 and even more ppl will transfer away from us to bigger servers.
Devs, I hope you reconsider before it kills bronze league wvw.
