Druid as a healer heals a lot but the scaling with healing power is sad beyond words, AND it cannot bring any dmg. No damage = no tags, no tags =no drops. Why would I play for nothing….


  • IF druid brings healing gear it doesn’t work… Scaling is bad. In the end the healing is not OP… It’s mediocre, Except in celestial form where you are very focussed at healing but you will not get any DMG on target??? Oh and healing still scales like it has no reason to be focused on or be used… HEALING = USELESS stat on healer? REALLY? WTF? But this problem persists throughout the WHOLE game, Healing is the most unwanted and uncared for stat in this game, sccaling is bad in 85-95% of all cases and with the reduction of boon duration these 2 could have been coupled to improve them which wasn’t considered and creates problems still for boothe booners and healers both filling the same support roles.
  • IF druid brings DPS gear it doesn’t wok as you have no real DPS skills outside spamming 1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1 with an occasional 2 and
  • the removal of any ranged spawns in this BWE destroys the need for skill 5, also receiving healing is nice but actual reflection would be nice even i it was ony 50% of the original dmg…
  • the gyphs are mostly useless, just taking all shouts improves healing by providing perma regen, to all within range but also requiring the druid to be in melee or otherwise in range of others
  • the elite form allows for “great support” BUT IF YOU CANNOT TAG ANYTHING, why bother to take druid? If I bring a zeealot/cleric staff ele I have about the same options in healing (soothing mist for AOE field, staff 1 for small area healing, 3 for burst heal(with or without blast, 5 with multi blasts for group recover…) And I get DPS and boons and conditions when needed While I can still tag due to ALL skills DOING DAMAGE! which mean I’ll get drops.
  • Self heals are limited unless you take your staff into melee… This also shows a problem Ranged dmg is moderate, and melee dmg is low/moderate.. Leaving me with a question If I need to bring an AXE/warhorn for mid range or LB for ranger of Sword/WH or GS for melee.

This also raises a question What is the druid:

I will refer to a book I loved and it had a nice discription for somthing,the description read: HARMLESS. Whcih would be fitting for Druid, except for the player themselves, DO we need to give up getting income and drops to be allowed to heal?

Even if you’d improved some dmg druid wouldn’t get above MOSTLY HARMLESS status anyways…

I know I’ll take a Hyperspace Bypass to another character as soon as the demolition of ranger has been done. -wink to: the Hitchiker’s Guide to the Galaxy – by Dougles Adams-


What could be done?

  1. If you want a healer make sure healing works, AND it gets a decent reward…. having heals without aggro can be nice…. but I DO need tags, and damage… damage is a problm as precision and ferocity are the 1st 2 stats to be dropped from a healing build.
    I personally loathe the wet noodling through content and the foresight of having 6 skills doing 0 dmg I really really do not like.
  2. Improve healing throug healing stats : A LOT Also minor healing stats are used in a wide range of builds and major healing clerics in only a small range of builds
  3. Improve Elite Form to do dmg, at this moment I’d take any class in healer form above druid SO I CAN GET DROPS. having a “powerfull avatar form” which doesn’t help anybody cause I cannot assist in killing stuff really seems -useless- for the party and for myself
  4. Either improve staff range to 1500 as well with the staff or leave it and increase fields to make sure I can heal from just outside Melee and have some actual benefits of the healing for myself…. Why 1500 range? cause I do not mind giving up my longbow for a zap beam but it is annoying to not be able to fire from the same range and needing to run into 1200 ranged from 1500 to be able to swap to staff and do anything…..
    And last but not least
  5. Improve HEALING as an attribute; Add boon duration so dedicated healers can get boon duration from speccing fully into heals (15% for celestial(~750 healing), 20% minor stats(~950) 27,5% major stats (1381,) 40-45% for “all-in-I-do-not-care-about-something-else” healers (2000-2200(major stat, healing food, healing utility, healing runes, sigil of life)…

Ok for starters, A lot of people are looking forward to this new style for druid, it could possibly give us a definite spot in high end PvE/Raiding/WvW, it was stated from the start this elite spec was support focused hense the minor traits mentioned. Nobody is forcing you to take druid, Yes don’t get me wrong it does suck that some people may not even use their elite specs because it doesn’t suit their play style but that can’t be helped, Arenanet cannot cater to every single aspect of the community with just this Expansion.

I personally really like the Druid, I do wish Anet would add the ability to save and swich traits on the fly. That would solve a lot of problems. I really enjoyed playing the Druid, but I agree with “PaxTheGreatOne”….You do spam the 1 skill for damage. Everything has a bit of damage on it, but not enough. The pet did a good job, and that helped a lot. I would like to see some AOE skill on the Druid that both heals and does damage to mobs. Something similar to one of the new Engi skills….only for heal and damage. This way we can enjoy healing along with getting some damage in. I agree we need more healing going on if we are to be healers.
I also played the Revenant, which i really enjoyed last time. This beta for Revenant was like the first time, no power.
The pets are great!!! and so helpful to have more HP on them and the ranger. They had more damage as well. When HoT comes out I hope all that does not get lost. All that was long overdue. It was nice to see some players say….come on Rangers give us some heals…..

Wow, first i saw the swirlling hammers of the Revenant was taken (one of my favorite traits) now the Ele Frost bow….one of most beloved and depended on items in the game was nerfed! HOW COULD YOU DO THAT??? Its mostly used in pve….almost seemed like just meanness the way it was announced yesterday. Sorry, but thats gonna upset a lot of people. I sure would like to know the reasoning for that. And the hammers for the Revenant…..so useful. First the damage was reduced, now you take it???

A bit worried about the trinity concept myself…I like that an ele can do damage and switch over to water, if the team seems to be going under. However, if your build is not made for heal, you don’t get much healing. I think we need some new stats available on gear. If there are going to be so many new changes in the game, and so many more requirements made to be able to complete bosses in raids, then we need to be less limited in what we can offer. For instance…ARMOR WITH 4 STATS…instead of the standard 3. If we have to switch back and forth, give us the ability to do so. If the druid can do that much healing (which scares me for the direction the game may be taking) then give us the ability to dps well, and then switch over to staff heal if needed. Arnet, give us healing on some of the stats as well as 3 dps type options. Then switching to it won’t hurt so much when we want to also do damage. And i am very glad the zerker meta will not be the main in HoT. I get tired of the “requirements” some put on others about that. And the elitist attitude.

About the Ranger/Druid…love the sound of some of the new skills, but seems its a dedicated healer…not what i expected. The new Pets are awesome! that part is the only one that really excites me. I just hope they can stay alive longer then most do now and do more damage then what we have now. If we STILL have limited damage we can do as Rangers..which has always been a problem, then at least buff the pets more for damage and viability. This is still the problem….we don’t seem to be balanced with other classes in damage, then the pet dies and we are busy switching to a live one trying to stay alive ourselves while doing so. (there should be no cool down on switching pets) I really like the cat family, however, they are more for show then anything else. I have to switch to bear or lizard type to keep them alive longer enough to actually do any good in the fight. Then they seem to be more like a gnat that annoys the enemy. The birds actually do a lot more damage, but don’t last long either. Cats die extremely fast as well as the wolves. I know it was said they will all have bleed now…how much remains to be seen. Will it make a difference? So i am hopeful about these new pets, but we will see.

The actual purchasable rewards are good.
The entire problem with this event is the ludicrous amount of time that is expected to be put in to get anything from this event due to the laughably low amount of currency we get for doing these events over this infuriatingly short amount of time.
A problem compounded by the fact every subevent in this is boring.

The purchasable rewards are ok for level 80 players…but 10 Gold? for new players ? How are they going to get 10 gold at level 12-15? Most of the time they can’t even get a hit in before others kill everything. So not many blooms for them either.
Thank you for your comments Gaile….good to know you can’t change any more of it right now. Then a lot of us just won’t waste time. And yes, its very boring over and over again. I can’t justify the grind.

I did some number Crunching on the event, First of all if you want to buy everything costing above 150 Blooms (the skins, tonics, and minis) it costs 2140 Blooms and 68 Gold. Now if you think about the event as a whole and your maximum earning potential there are approximately 18 events per day for the 4 day event, meaning there is approximately 72 invasions total(give a few extra depending on the time it went online vs the event ends). Now if you average 30 blooms per event (and from what i can tell most people are getting around half that per event) the most blooms you can get is 2160. I don’t think people get how bad the event is tuned for rewards, it needs to be multiplied significantly, now i am not saying make it easy, but it should be possible to do an event and sleep and still get the full reward.

Now i get that not being able to get everything may be intentional, but if this event is for new players then it missed its mark, as its to spread out across the maps, fighting enemies that are vastly over powered for characters in the level range the events take place in. If its for vets, well i listed the above why its not worth anyone’s time.
to fix the event to make event jumping less lucrative i would suggest having the mobs at the event drop the occasional bloom (or have the champs drop champ bags that contain blooms among other goodies) alternatively if the event ran through hots release with a loot drop buff of some sort (like having them drop anything at all). these are my thoughts yes they are jumbled welcome to my brain.

Thats discouraging…..i have new players in my guid complaining to me about not getting anything at all in these events. They are new to the game, and upset. Thats how we are going to keep our new player base??
And the events are still bugged! I just left event in K Hills….more complains, no loot, no blooms. I had such high hopes for this and gaining new players….sad.

As you are aware, we have a lot of new players joining Guild Wars 2 these days. But you may not know is that in addition to preparing our presentation about raids and our Play for Free initiative, and even while working towards the October 23rd release date of Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns, the dev team also has been working on a game event!

We’ll have more information for you about the event later this week. For now, let’s just say that there’s never been a better time to be in a guild!

Guilds leaders: Let’s use this thread as an official “guild recruitment thread” and we’ll link it from an upcoming blog post. The thread is intended for you to give some basic info on your guild, such as:

  • Your guild name and tag
  • Your guild’s preferred gameplay choices: Are you PvE or PvP all the way? Do you have a focus on WvW? Are most of you fractal focused? Or are you a “do it all” sort of guild?” Describe that in your post.
  • Your home world and, if you wish, your guild’s preferred language
  • Times you are particularly active, such as guild events, meetings, new character runs, PvP practices, etc.

Our guild is Embers Of Wildfire

We are a small guild right now, building up more. We are friendly and like helping other players and lower levels. We do a lot of Fractals, dungeons and general all things in the game. We play PvP, do Events, guild missions, WVW, Eotm, and just have fun playing. Some are good at jumping puzzles and crafting. So you can get help and encouragement. We welcome all who are friendly and will join us in welcoming others to the game. We do encourage respect for other players and encourage playing well with others
We use TS for dungeons and Fractals. We have older veteran players, new players, young and mature. So a family attitude is expected and enjoyed.

We would like you to Rep at least 80% of the time, this helps the guild grow and build points. You also become familiar with other players in the guild and can get or give help as needed.
If you need a break, or have a pause in your playing, you will not be kicked from the guild for being absent for awhile.

We are based on Crystal desert Server, (need to be on same server to run WVW with us ) but all are welcome.

They’re not gonna keep it like now, don’t worry. They can either change it, or make acct-bound ar through masteries. They’re too lazy to rework the ar again, so I bet it’s the latter.

If you noticed they already have AR mastery system in place in the beta. So what that means exactly, I dont know , but could it replace the infusions system? or add a bonus to what you already have?

Ultimately its a double edged sword. The final two elite specialization haven’t even been announced to the point where their skills and utilities can be looked at. There is only a handful of weeks left before the release of HoT and Anet could be backing themselves into a corner if they aren’t careful.

I’ve played way too many MMOs to know, that what the devs feel is super clean and polished on there end, I’m looking at you Dragon Hunter; is nothing till its put on the chopping block and actually played by the people that are going to be playing it.

Each weekend that goes by, is less testing for Druid and Forge, which can cause one of two problems: The specializations aren’t polished enough, so the expansion release gets pushed back. Or the specializations get released unpolished and they try to fix it as they go. Neither is a very good option for their reputations, let alone marketing.

They need to be released soon for testing, or Anet better hope they got it right the first time.

Totally agree with you on this. I think they need at least TWO more betas to make things even. I have been waiting for the ranger like others. I do like my other characters but ranger has always been the first that I make and go back to. Ranger need a serious overhaul and balance to keep up with some the other professions. There just seems to be no time left for the feedback that will be needed, unless the Druid comes out so spectacular to begin with that we are blown away. Yes our pets are loved, and we need them not to die on us within seconds of combat, or some new abilities and hopefully New exotic pets from HoT areas….image having some of those things we have to fight over there… Some should be a challenge to get, like it GW1 with the Black moa. We should also be able to put them away and have them stay that way until needed in some instances, or flag them like in GW1 to staying a certain spot and fight. I know there is a utility skill for that, but you waste other utilities that you desperately need to use that. That should not be so. There is a long wish list for Rangers.
Like many I was really disappointed in the Tempest. I hope Arnet can address these issues for us as time goes on. I know we all want the release, but i really feel they are working out to work out the bugs and give us a good game. Maybe a Ranger-lover dev is working on our Ranger stuff and we can expect great things I hope so. Maybe like being able to craft your pet Armor!!! how cool is that.

No one likes underwater combat in this game because its horribly, horribly unbalanced. Every single balance pass we’ve had in this game has completely ignored underwater skills. As a result, you have some classes that can basically blow through it without blinking, and other classes who are woefully underpowered.

Its been neglected so much that when ANet redid the trait system, they completely removed all the traits that affected underwater weapons and skills.

Not so, I love underwater and I know other players that do too. I do agree some classes have better underwater skills then others. That needs to be addressed, but I think it would be great to have more underwater things to do, dungeons, events etc.

We are seeing a lot about using new or different weapons, skills and builds to overcome some of the new and upcoming challenges we will have in HoT. Even having to change things on the fly in Raids or for different bosses. I just keep thinking how time consuming and awkward this will be to either write down our builds or keep them in our heads and then change them. Why not give us the ability to save our builds Arnet? Would be great for quick and easy switching! Anyone else like the idea?

they could make it happen as they already did it in the past, was pretty fun for sometime not sure if it would work permanent because pvp is not ok for everyone
but maybe they could add it into the map night cycle ?

Your right, if HoT was a forced pvp map, i would not play it much,if at all. Some do not want pvp forced on them. I left a game for that reason. Areas where you needed to get something accomplished were pvp zones. It was maddening when you just wanted to be left alone to gather your crafting materials. One reason i like this game, I can pvp when i want to.

I say make ‘em even harder, one wrong dodge and you’re down in one hit. That way the casuals will leave even faster and the game will follow the path of wildstar. That ’ll be “hardcore” ammirite?

if you died in WS from every single hit, it really illuminates just how bad a player you are. But I guess you just picked that up to sound informed.

Doesn’t mean your a bad player, there could be a lot of reasons why…many people died a lot. Not knowing the skills for one, bad internet for another. And many many mobs coming at once. Not everyone has super computers and super fast internet. They have to make it so a large base of players can play. So your one of the fortunate ones i guess.

So Disappointed After The First Beta

Just putting in my two cents about the beta and the Revenant. I personally liked the Rev. I think it has great potential. Yes things need to be fixed and adjusted. Very low DPS. I couldn’t effectively use the Rev in PVP. Very hard to kill another player with that DPS and it seemed more like a Medium armor class then a heavy armor. Very squishy. I did like the mechanics, but I think there needs to be a weapon swap. You can engage in close melee with the mace and axe, but you may want to use the hammer for longer range. It would be awkward to have to get ooc just to switch when you need to. I see the concept Anet is using, but it needs a weapon swap.
Its not an eng. with all the kits to swap to, in essence giving you more weapons when you swap as a eng.
After getting more used to the fields and finishers, I was able to use the Rev more effectively, but still not equal to the damage i can go with my necro, or Ranger even. I did switch to all Rabid and go straight condi with the Rev. That seemed to work the best.
So i think it has promise and I did miss messing around with it when it was gone. Tried a dungeon with it and ended up switching as I felt I was not helping the team much with the lack of damage. Healing with it did not have what was expected as a support class. Even personal healing with the ventari legend was not equal to regular heals.
I would like to see the kinks worked out. I would prefer Rev to warrior or guard if everything worked as it should and damage output was competitive with other professions.
As for Stronghold, I love it, other than my frustration with players not realizing what the goal to win is. They all run off and go after other players or all defend the home Lord. They don’t seem to realize the only way to win is to kill the enemy lord. Nor do many of them get the essence when it comes. I ended up killing the enemy lord pretty much alone most times. Once in awhile I would have one other player helping some, but they would run off as well. The lord could have been down and us winning if they had just stayed on the lord. Most players don’t get it at all. (Even with the big announcement at the start of the round that we need to slay the enemy lord to win) Most do not even start getting door breakers at beginning. Or they get them and don’t defend them or buff them. You can buff them just as you would another player.
I am hoping when it launches, that players that don’t get it, or don’t like it, won’t get in that map, so those of us who do, can play effectively. I hope Anet puts a selection box like done for the beta so they can choose not to go in that map at all if they don’t want to.
I do wish more players availed themselves of the Point of Interest show so they would be aware of changes and game mechanics. They get on and just ask other players to fill them in on things they are to lazy to look up themselves. Or are just totally in the dark about everything.

The problem now is…people like me who earned GW1 achievements and worked hard for them, can’t get them. Apparently its been shut down altogether. My ranger would like her pets also, skins and weapons.

I just wanted to bring it to the attention of the developers there is currently a BIG BUG which allows people to get 39 HoM near instantly. I dont want to give specifics in case people try and abuse it, but will be happy to provide more info if contacted. Being a long time guild wars player I found this upsetting and hope to see anet roll back peoples accounts.

I agree with Ashe….it would be less confusing to find where you need to go if the mini map were vertical. I really do like the stronghold. Takes more thinking to win and players working together rather then just go kill the other guy. Thank you for the new pvp map Anet

Hall of Monuments disabled

I have bought and played, and am playing GW1 and GW2. I have now 15 points from Gw1 and due rewards in GW2. Why is this disabled? I am frustrated that I can’t get the Moa and swords, armor etc that I worked for in GW1. I don’t understand why Arenanet has disabled this when we are told we can earn these things. I have spent money in both games. No point in me going on if I can’t get the rewards. I have a legendary bow next few points. That is really gonna be a downer. I know other players got these if they did it awhile back. Some new players from GW1 can’t get theirs either. Arena net, please fix this. Its simply not fair and bad policy. I know you want to please your players. Please don’t let this go on.

Dungeons: Improvement in new expansion?

I play Gw1 as well as GW2. I really like using Heros in dungeons. They don’t argue with me, or kick me out, or go on without me without rezzing. I can take my time, or whatever i like. This ends the problem talked about here in part. Yes, i do wish the dungeons were made so you actually had to run them, but I don’t think Arenanet is going to rework all of their dungeon. Maybe we will get some new ones in the expansion. I do wish when they came out with GW2 they would have left in all the good things about GW1. Im in a small guild. Not everyone wants to dungeon, although I prefer to go with my guild when i do. Sometime you get nice folks to dungeon with, sometimes its unbearable. I still like my Heros and wish i could import them. NPCs in Gw2 don’t do any damage or really help much. When your doing some storyline alone, you need a little help occasionally. My daughters comment: In gw2, npcs just stand around and say, “The spirits of the wild welcome you.”

Hall of Monuments not working

I was interested in boosting some of my GW2 play with some items if not all from GW1, so i purchased the entire GW1 games. I have finished Prophecies, Factions and Eye of the North Missions, have points to collect items from in GW2 and it tells me it is temporally disabled! What is with that? Is this now broken? Its been like this for weeks. I am enjoying the game very much, but i would be really disappointed if i could not collect the rewards I have worked for. Can someone provide info on this please?

I really liked Stronghold. I did quickly find out that people don’t think things out very well….It will take working together and strategic thinking at best. In time it will come down to those who want and like to do more than just killing the other player. I saw people not doing what they should have been doing to win and just going after other players randomly. But the concept is good. I look forward to playing more of it.

Unfortunately, there are some nice people and some not so nice. Just read map chat….. That tells you a lot. For instance, someone new asks a valid question….some are very helpful, others, just nasty.

Guys, mounts are FUN…..thats all there is to it. If you don’t want one, don’t have one. But for those of us who do want one, why the argument? I agree with the comment about mini pets. They serve no purpose except they are fun. Just like changing the clothes and colors. Thats what games are supposed to be…Fun. I would love one, or two or three……
