Forgive me if this has been brought up before, but while hanging around the Queen’s Gauntlet, I came across a Thief steadily dealing damage to Liadri without having thrown a single orb at her to remove her invulnerability stacks. Having never played a thief, I was wondering whether there was some class mechanic that allows one to do this, or whether the player was using an exploit?
I got a screenshot of it, which is on my computer at home unfortunately
Hardly a priority compared to some of the class-breaking bugs we have to contend with on a daily basis, but it still really annoys me that after all this time characters still glide across the ground when Blinking while running.
It’s like Wintersday in GW1 all over again!
Experienced this last night myself. Went straight from the 75% battery phase to the 50% battery phase after damaging him enough to trigger the latter phase, which went perfectly, but brought him under 25% after the 50% battery phase and he turned invisible. We had to stand there swinging at thin air for 2/3 minutes and had two bone walls to destroy as a result. It’s not a train smash but it’s pretty annoying.
Does anyone have a video of doing this? Would be really helpful.
Actually back when the Bazaar and the Gauntlet was first released I was more often than not put in overflows in those maps. And that was back when I was on a smaller server than now.
I would expect as much (especially considering it was brand new content back then). But at the end of the day your chances of being put in an overflow were still less than they were now, considering you were sharing the map with people from your server instead of people from a number of servers.
To be fair, the chances of being put into an overflow before megaservers was less, because you were only sharing the map with people from YOUR server, whereas now there are many more copies of a map at any given time.
What we actually need is the ability to select multiple items in the trading post, choose whether to match the highest buyer or lowest seller for all of them and list all of them at once. If I could do that just for all of the sigils I end up salvaging my life would be SO much easier.
Why should ArenaNet cater to the player-base that DON’T actively play their game though? Wouldn’t it be much more logical to cater to those that actually play the game at least a few times a week?
Perhaps MORE of these inactive people would return to GW2 if the game catered to players who have schedules that prevent them from dedicating a set amount of time per week to a game?
There’s also the fact that the Living Story isn’t exactly the most friendly towards active players who don’t take breaks either. I’ve missed a few LS episodes because I only had a small amount of time to play the game at that point and I felt like spending that time doing WvW.
Of course, that reduces my will to play subsequent LS episodes considering I have absolutely no idea why I’m doing what I’m doing. It’s like watching a television series, missing two or three episodes and being expected to pick up from the latest episode without being afforded the opportunity to fill in the gaps by going back and re-watching what I missed. Having a busy schedule doesn’t make me any less of a fan of the television series, or in this case the game. It simply means that as much as I would love to sit around and play GW2 all day, every day (I really would), I have a job and responsibilities that sometimes get in the way of me doing so.
Ultimately, Living Story content does not have to be temporary. And I think that’s what frustrates a few people who have erratic schedules at times. ANet could fix this either by simply moulding the storyline to fit content that doesn’t have to get removed, or by simply adding Story Books, which would be instanced archives of old content so that players don’t have to rush to finish content while it’s still around. Why can’t someone relive the destruction of Lion’s Arch in an instanced environment? Obviously one can’t relive things like the in-game election, but that should be an exception, not the norm. At the very least re-watchable cinematics could be introduced to help fill in the story gaps in cases of content that HAS to be temporary.
Where there’s a will, there’s a way, and I think there should be more of a will to cater towards a range of players.
Ah…9 rings <3 I actually quite enjoyed that. The small victory of leaving your character logged in doing the rings overnight and waking up to find yourself magically still participating without having run out of tickets!
Did it last night. Worked like a bomb. Thanks!
WvW provides the last sense of server community in the game since megaservers were implemented. I like logging on and seeing familiar faces around. A megaserver type system would completely ruin that experience.
Thanks I’ll try this tonight. I’ve been struggling thanks to wardens not attacking. Been driving me crazy.
+1 More shiny contents please.
Fear Not This Night truly did make the end of the personal story a “wow” moment. I just stopped and listened to the song.
You clearly don’t have much experience with teasers?
Frankly, I’m glad they’ve communicated something and we know what date to look forward to. Why do we need to know anything more?
Are people seriously bleak that it’s one month away? Surely you can find something else to do in-game?
Honestly, I’m relieved that we’ll have some down time and that the festival will be around until then. I missed a good number of the living story episodes due to my schedule. This gives me the opportunity to ensure that I get all of the Queen’s Gauntlet achievements before new content arrives, work on leveling a new character, go after a few achievements etc.
I look forward to the new zone (assuming that’s what we’re getting)!
omg I could cry. I found it It was the one at Cereboth Waypoint in Kessex Hills of all places o_O I’ve done it so many times and there didn’t appear to be any issues with it. Nearly jumped out of my seat when I heard the achievement sound haha!
I was stuck at 37/38, even though I had a check list. I went over it and re-dived at all the locations I considered iffy. Still didn’t get it.
I then went systematically through every single one, making sure I had the goggles on, dived into the right spot, and waited a bit before porting somewhere else.
Turned out I got 100% on one of the dives that I had already redone twice; for some reason, I was getting credit for it and just never noticed the counter failing to increment.
I have no idea if this will resolve the issue for anyone, but it’s better than any alternative I can think of.
I’m torn between reattempting all of the dives again, or giving up because the Skrittsburg dive never removes my diving clothes when I hit the water (sometimes even after I’ve left the water). I’ve tried it around 15 times. The problem is that I’m not sure whether I did the dive 2 years ago before deciding to go for the Dive Master achievement, so I have no idea whether it hasn’t counted at all or whether it was already counted a while back
So frustrating.
Agreed. I love underwater combat. I don’t understand why people dislike it. I feel it flows so smoothly.
At the very least I’d like to see the addition of one or two underwater points. Imagine a sunken Bay…it’d add a nice level of variety to the borderlands. The old underwater “content” was hardly a comparison, considering it consisted of a lake one had to traverse and the actual capping took place on an island. An entire keep underwater would make things very interesting.
If you don’t like underwater content then simply don’t take part in capping that point and make yourself useful elsewhere :P Simple.
Please fix this. I’ve only noticed it happening on my contacts list for the past day, but it’s been the case for the guild for a while now…
Took me numerous tries the other night to kill Subject 7 with gambits, simply because my Wardens thought it cute not to attack at all. Never been so frustrated with the game as I was in that moment
Yep…I’ve given up attempting to kill Subject 7. The wardens just aren’t attacking.
I’ve actively played one character since release – a Mesmer. Tonight I’m rolling another character. I just can’t deal with all of these bugs anymore!
Please implement a fix for this. I’m stuck on 37/38. I’ve made note of the 3 dives I don’t remember doing in the past and on which my armour didn’t reappear when landing in the water…I think it may be the dive in Skrittsburg that’s giving me trouble. But I’ve done it at least 10 times and nada. It’s frustrating that on top of the bug, there’s no way of knowing which jump is the culprit. It’s been 10 months and still nothing?
There are so many options that ANet could investigate that could change things up in WvW. These include:
1) Allowing server transfers for PvE purposes, but blocking players from entering WvW (at the very least while seasons are active).
2) Altering the loot table so that less loot is dropped when participating in huge zergs. It’s ridiculous that there are loot bags galore when one giant zerg wipes out a smaller zerg. When WvW was first announced, I imagined people roaming everywhere, not stacked up in one giant army.
3) Get rid of the pretty! WvW is supposed to be a warzone for goodness sake. Once again, when WvW was first announced, I imagined long open spaces with charred terrain, bits and pieces of broken siege equipment lying everywhere, barbed wire barricades and more variety. The maps are simply too symmetrical for my liking.
4) Add new mechanics, or change up the current ones. Why not make blueprints more expensive, but movable? Force us to escort flame rams from one location to another, for example. Add more things for people to do if they feel like roaming on their own, apart from capping ruins and supply camps (for those who can solo them). I hate the fact that there’s almost nothing for me to do if I log in and there isn’t a commander leading the charge. Why can’t I assist by building destroyable barricades (with a limit to the number that can be built)?
5) Encourage server pride. I think it’d be pretty cool if we could customize the likes of towers and keeps more. Why can’t we decorate them with emblems, erect flags and other things that add some identity to what are faceless buildings?
There’s so much that could be done, but it feels like WvW hasn’t gotten much love at all since its inception.
Getting random people to cooperate can get extremely frustrating. Just do the Taidha Covington event and that becomes readily apparent. It’s ridiculous how long people need to spam “STOP ATTACKING!” before the randoms stop hitting her and the event completes. That’s a very basic form of organisation that people can’t seem to grasp.
Now that I’ve finished the Boss Blitz achievement I doubt I’ll be participating in any more of those events, unless I happen upon them drawing to a close when visiting the Queen’s Gauntlet.
I was absolutely fuming last night because of the lightning pull bug. Being in South Africa I attributed it to my ping to the EU servers, and that it could have been some weird form of rubber-banding, but the other skills were mostly working just fine. It took me a solid hour to get one Master Sky Crystal that really shouldn’t have been that complicated because the “easy” beginning part involved a lightning pull onto a ledge, jump onto a pole and a lightning pull onto a cliff. 90% of the time I’d either hit an invisible wall, completely overshoot or land and roll for ages to my death. Dropping a portal was pointless because of the height of the fall.
Let’s hope the rest of the Master Crystal collection isn’t as complicated tonight!
As someone who has yet to kill her, no, just no. Keep her as is. It’s not like the rest of the game is brimming with difficult content. Why should this be dumbed down so that you can complete it? For an achievement? Where’s the achievement in that? Learn how to kill her. It’s really that simple.
I tried WS. It entertained me for an hour or so before I found myself logging back into GW to get my daily. Have fun Glad you’ve found a home.
It’s extremely sad that we’re at the point where we’re almost asking the developers not to fix a bug because there are more important bugs that need fixing :/
Considering the fact that on many occasions I’m not even put on the same map as fellow party members, I can only imagine what a problem this must be for you guys. I hope they show you some love soon…
The Living Story has its positives and negatives.
Even though it’s usually in the form of a massive zergfest, there’s something exciting about there being a flavour of the week area that you know if completely packed with people trying to get their achievements. It feels like the holiday events in a way.
But the problem is that if you have a life and can’t religiously log into the game every week/every two weeks, you end up missing episodes of the Living Story. Eventually the problem becomes compounded and you don’t really know what’s happening. The story becomes meaningless. To be honest, I find it quite strange that the devs expect people to play according to a set pace or miss out. I would have expected them to implement something to cater towards players who may have busy or erratic schedules…even if it’s in the form of instanced “storybooks” that allow you to “travel back in time” and replay certain events.
As someone who didn’t have the time to experience all of the content when it was first released, this makes me very happy!
Considering that the very last word of the attached text file is “TROLLED,” I’m inclined to believe that this entire post was a joke from the get-go and the OP has been having everyone on?…
+1 for fishing. For a game with such a focus on underwater content, I’m honestly surprised it wasn’t included from the start. I’d love to see daily fishing achievements, tournaments and the like. It adds a nice little something to do when you feel like doing something out of the ordinary
I’ve yet to defeat Tequatl and I’ve gotten quite frustrated as a result of that, but I disagree with making any changes. I like the fact that Tequatl and Triple Trouble are actually challenging. When I finally get all of the relevant achievements it’ll actually feel like I’ve accomplished something. We have more than enough bosses that are literally a matter of standing around spamming your 1-skill in order to kill. Truth be told we need more Tequatl’s!
This is one of the most ridiculous suggestions I’ve heard. Ignoring the fact that I actually quite enjoy the underwater content, why on earth would they spend so much time removing content because it’s not working as well as you would like it to? Surely developing Ascended aqua breathers and showing a bit more love to underwater content would be a far simpler fix than what you’ve suggested?
What bugs me about that living story is that it doesn’t feel like it’s being developed by a company that understands that players have lives and can’t log into the game according to a set schedule. I’ve been playing GW2 since the second beta weekend, but I’ll go through periods where I barely touch the game for a few weeks, followed by periods where all I do is play it.
As a result, I’ve missed much of the living story content. Not only did that create a case where I actually had no clue what was going on with the world, but it motivated me less to login and experience the next living story episode, because I had no clue why I was doing what I was doing.
I also don’t like the idea that I’m forced to rush through living story content in periods where I have a busy schedule for fear of missing out when I’d rather be spending that time doing something else like WvW.
It’s like missing holiday events, but the holiday events are year-round and never-ending! I think the structure of the living story needs to be reevaluated and changed to allow players to play through all, or at least most, of the content that you’ve spent months developing. It feels like very little has been added to the world since release when that isn’t true. Truth be told, I’d rather you guys spend your time adding new mechanics to the game or permanent content.
I, too, would like to see Mesmers become more of an annoyance and a little less physical. I understand that ANet are trying to eliminate the idea of class roles in GW2, but I like the idea that Mesmers could completely shut down other players in GW1 (at the expense of being able to deal much direct damage). We forced players to think about their next move, often giving them very little time to make a decision.
I find myself missing skills like Wastrel’s Worry, which would force players to use a skill within 3 seconds or take significant damage. This could be reapplied over and again thanks to the 1 second cooldown. Or Complicate…it would interrupt your target’s skill and disable it for up to 12 seconds not only for them, but ALL other players in the area. Something like that could easily throw a spanner into the works for large zergs.
At the end of the day I would love it if we had more of an ability to make other players think., punishing them for making the wrong decisions.
This thread really depresses me Guild Wars 1 was (at least for me) a largely bug-free experience. What’s changed, ANet? It feels like we’re being completely ignored in favour of other development work when bugs should take first priority.
It’s disappointing that ANet are seemingly ignoring an entire class. Some of these issues should have been fixed long ago, and the excuses for not addressing some of our concerns just don’t cut it. As someone who doesn’t care much for alts, it pains me that I’m just expected to sit around and twiddle my thumbs until ANet (hopefully) wake up one day and decide to fix Mesmers. This blasé treatment is hardly in line with the game that they set out to create a few years ago.
Also had the same issue…DNS fix worked From Cape Town, so seems it’s a South African thing!
Consider this a +1 for making it a permanent addition. It would be sad if all the team’s hard work could only be enjoyed for a month here and there at most!
Agreed! In my opinion, the best solution would be to only display the title of your target. Further abbreviations of server names would also be welcome, as well as scaling of name size based upon distance.
Last night was absolute mayhem when everyone logged into WvW to try out the changes…you couldn’t see a thing with the text from large zergs obscuring everything.
