Well played week SoS!
Although the technicalities of the ranking system may end up having you settle into #2 rank this week, it looks like there’s a new #1 in town.
current score update.
Please let me point out that we have 3 online members of WM present.. I checked.
So to say we are carried by WM is baseless and invalid. This +545 is from our “weak” dayshift crew.
… and less than an hour before a major event and the end of the match.
5 guar using wrath elite all at once. no aoe limit………40 man zerg gone in secs. buh bye pvp balance
What’s that boon that reflects damage back to the source again? Are there ways to spread that? Hmm…
I think you’re talking about retaliation that can be granted with a symbol of wrath. So a large turtle with a guard dropping symbol of wrath would be terrible for someone trying to AoE it with no cap.
Think about it, hitting 40 people with an AoE and having it reflect something like a third of the damage back. Let’s say the average hit of the AoE was 1k, that’s just over 13k reflected back to the source from one hit.
Siege is a counter to this.
Siege is not brilliant vs this, it is effective I agree.. but all it takes is one mesmer and a portal and that entire turtle is ontop of your siege.
It’s situational for sure, but properly placed siege will defend valuable targets from turtles.
Siege is a counter to this.
I’m not going to comment on strategy, but I’ll point out that a perfectly even match like you suggest would boil down to who ever controls SM longest would win.
I dont think the infiltration makes you stealth, I think it turns you into mist for like 3-5 sec,
Infiltration is stealth and another one is mist, I think it’s Vampirism.
It’s rare that the stealth will go off and you survive because usually there are a couple of extra hits incoming.
A couple of tips when dealing with thieves and the rendering issue
-the black swirl animation when they come out of stealth displays even though the character hasn’t rendered
-tab target will target them if they aren’t stealthed and the target indicators will display, showing you where they are
SBI have both been in T1 since the start and have been at this a lot longer than you have.
Didn’t we fight SBI 3-4 weeks before BG hit T1?
And didn’t we fight SBI towards the beginning of the game’s release?
Is there a site with all the previous matchups and final scores compiled (in one location)? It would be interesting to take a look at how far each server has come/fallen over time.
The site that has been previously posted that shows scores and projected ranks also has a history section that I believe covers all matches since 1 weeks have started.
or they will just stay in a zerg and sneak attack everything
So what is the other supposed to do? If two teams are fighting then the third doing anything is a 2v1 in some sense. Are you really suggesting that one server stop all activity just because you are fighting the other one?
Sorry, but the former truth that SBI has no significant presence during off peak has been over for weeks now.
If you were paying attention last week things may start looking a little different around here soon.
During most of that video we had groups taking the map while you were playing with the pugs.
I’ve been on JQ since day one. Honestly I don’t see any evidence that suggests that many players have transferred here since we’ve been first. In fact the server filled quickly, making it difficult for people to transfer here.
Have you considered that many players did mostly pve at first and are now starting to wvw more?
I disagree with it based on one thing. The whole design of WvW revolves around rewarding participation and teamwork, not lack thereof. Aside from caps to map population, I cannot think of anything that directly boosts an outnumbered team’s effectiveness that doesn’t require someone actually doing something.
Ban bandwagoners is the best solution
The problem with this is that large alliances that seek 24hr coverage by asking everyone to join them can be considered as being the bandwagon.
Sounds like a decent idea, depending on how much priority I guess.
One thing about queue times I don’t see people talking about is that the wait would be longer if people simply aren’t leaving WvW.
This would be a factor under two conditions 1) your server has an extremely large population of dedicated WvW players that put in many hours on a daily basis 2) your server has a bot problem.
The only solution I can think of on Anet’s side would be to put a hard cap on continuous hours played in WvW. For example, it could be that after six hours of continuous play a player is trasported to Lion’s Arch with fair warning of course. If the player wants to continue playing they’d have to rejoin and wait in queue if there is one. For clarity if someone were to leave WvW before the timer is up and rejoin the timer would restart.
