Tried it and i hits like a truck yeah, but it’s a boring passive type of play for a warrior. I almost feel ashamed when using it. Melee all the way.
The desert border map is ofc one of those changes that probably looked cool on paper but actually works poorly when fully implemented.
Sometimes developers (of any business) can get caught in some type of hype, to do something cool and innovative. The reality though is that to properly care for product isn’t always so glamorous. It’s hard work, and requires small tweaks and a fine balance.
WvW has been poorly managed by ppl that seem to not understand what the customers want. Sure we welcome changes and new things, but several things about WvW pre HoT actually worked, and are now completely broken.
One of the worst things about wvw now is “the battle of the red rings”.
You can sometimes have 2 big zergs circling eachother and in the middle of it all is a sea of red rings. It’s ridiculous.
And if you try to attack you are chilled, crippled, bled and burned to death.
Playing warrior/berserker.?Tried it for hundreds of hours. You will find youself spending more time trying to survive than hitting people.
Playing frontline guard/DH? Good luck trying to leap through sea of red rings. If you succeed you will find that so few people are with you that you are soon dead anyway. The warriors are all dead and all guardians are now playing bow-wielding Dragonhunters.
I highly doubt that this was Anet’s idea. What we want is a fast paced skill based action packed wvw. But it has been destroyed by too much conditions and pve style borderlands that we honestly don’t want.
We are left with a boring slow pve style wvw, that constantly slow you down, cripple you and chill you.

Don’t worry. They will make mega servers in wvw too and make it one big EotM anyway. No matter what we want.
They don’t see that they caused any problems or did anything wrong. They will look at the current situation and make changes based on that. So their solution is quite easy to figure out.
I’m getting this now too. On and off. Sometimes it goes away for a while when relogging or unrep/rep the guild. Never had it before yesterday. Everything else seems fine.
After the balance (pfft) patch I really gave it a try in wvw. Didn’t read any forum posts and went at it for a few days to really give my beloved warrior a chance again. But same still the same.
No sustain and getting melted by condis.
Too bad, warrior/berserker is my fav class. I love the mechanics and the versatility. Well…when they work. And at the moment they dont.
Me and most of my guild members just got bored of playing the same mode over and over and over and over again for almost 3 years. I honestly doubt bringing the old bl will attract players/vets to play wvw again.
I also partially blame gvg elitist and their “GTFO this is our raid/fight”. Rather than promoting wvw to the newcomers, elitist often scare away ppl with their smug behavior. It’s not rare to hear guilds saying the server is doomed if they leave the server, making more and more ppl less inclined to step into wvw.
For a moment, I miss the matchups before gvg exist. It was just pure madness and fun. TCvFAvDB matchups were some of the best moment I have in gw2
Aside from my gripes with how WvW development is handled that’s another reason I stopped going there. Every bit of action I’d come across I would be told to get on Teamspeak or find someplace else. I don’t mind being on there sometimes but unless it’s a really important fight I don’t want to listen to people get super serious and talk at double speed saying everything three times as if that helps. It’s not an open world pvp area, I accept that, but there’s not much to do anymore if you just want to jump in and wander around.
While people are certainly free to play the game in whatever way they want. No matter if its pve, spvp or wvw, the problem is pugs that dont follow the commander, dies and rally ppl. So you actually end up doing worse with additional ppl not on TS, than if they weren’t there to help at all. Thats why guilds doing closed raids shout to ppl not to follow them. It’s not that they can’t stand you being around, you actually do more harm than good.
The sad thing is that they will use the current state of wvw to justify the future incoming deathblow to wvw in the way we played it until now.
I highly doubt they came to the conclusion that the changes that came with HoT was a big failure. They look at the current state of wvw and EotM and implement changes from there. They are too stuck with the mindset of trying to do something unexpecting.
And instead of solving a series of problems with both class balances, maps and mechanics we will see questionable solutions.
I wouldn’t pass on it, but its not even on my top 50 list for warrior/berserker.
I was under the impression, at HoT launch, that the desert and alpine borderlands were to be rotated. Maybe that was just in my own head, I don’t know. But I fail to see why Anet don’t immediately bring back alpine borderlands to at least ease some of the critics. Or at least rotate them every other week.
WvW in alpine borders was fun. Easy to move around, lots of fights and open areas that made it easy for guilds to fight and ppl to scout towers. I cant even think of how many hours I’ve spent scouting at south Bay. Running to camps and back to ensure that supplies came in. Now, all that is gone and instead we have a bunch of worthless pve mechanics.
I retired my warrior for now. Its the class I enjoy playing the most in wvw but not anymore. It’s just a sub par class at the moment.

Sometimes as a developer what you need to do is not overcomplicate things. Don’t fix what’s not broken, and instead micro manage til you get it right. Not big overhauls that break everything.
One thing a can agree on is that something more interesting should be gained from winning, or at least from the badges. Maybe some expensive and hard to obtain items to aim at. Armor sets, rare runes, I don’t know.
But to just sit on thousands of badges and hundreds of world ability points, that’s comepletely unusable, feels like a waste.
At least earlier we had a few (for most ppl) almost unobtainable titles, and one or two things to spend wvw points on, but now….nothing.
We should also have more seasons. And we should have gotten that from the beginning. In the NHL you don’t see the top 3 or 4 teams meeting only eachother. And thats how top tier is. You fight the same servers over and over. We dont need wierd alliances and non server identity wvw.
It is very obvious that Anet are just holding their breath right now hoping this is just temporary whining because the wvw community is not used to the new maps and the new system.
But I bet they are slowly beginning to see the reality:

It’ s disrespectful towards all wvw players that invested both time and money into the game since launch not showing even the slightest interest . WvW as it is now is a major fail and it doesn’t matter what ever the reason for it is. Just admit that is’t all a major failure, give us the old homeborders back and scrap the desert maps completely.
Some mistakes we can live with, and forgive, but just look at the current polulation and get your heads out of the sand before people really start to leave.

The desert maps are really well made, cool design and all. But the problem is they just doesn’t fit the purpose. It’s like they are made to separate ppl from eachother. Groups can run around forever withouth ever finding eachother. Incredibly boring,

Ive been thing of buying a new mouse. Currently on my 3:rd Naga so might just try out the G600 since I got the G710+ keyboard as well.

Or the lower servers could actually learn how to play in wvw. Organize. That’s how you attract people. You only need so much players to cap a tower. Lack population? Cap and evade.
We saw some of the problem at last weeks matchup. It’s like a big part of the players on some servers cant even play. They just stand there getting farmed. They don’t even move out of aoe.
Want a living wvw server? Then you have to work for it. Nothing gets dropped in you lap for free.
I don’t like f2p and all the stuff it brings. And I’ve played my fair share of f2p asian grinders. I would prefer a monthly fee actually. Yet another game that care more about the cash shop than the game itself. It’s just sad.
When they announced Hot they clearly said that there will be no level cap increase, and one reason for this was that they didn’t want to diminish our efforts by introducing new armor that is better than ascended. I especially remember that they said something like “In HoT your current best armor will still be the best armor available”
And now they do exactly that. Players that want the very best will start chasing legendary armor and scrapping the ascendeds. After spending a looot of gold making ascended armor for their characters. Good job Anet. One fail after another.

If your temps are around 40 degrees you have nothing to worry about. Come back when it reaches 80 and your GPU fan sounds like a plane.
I see no problem with your gear. You propably got better hardware than many players. You got a fast harddrive, enough RAM and CPU. But the GPU isn’t the best. If you experience any problems running the game I would change the graphics card

I just recieved an ingame mail from some LOR-748 stating that I hade the title and that Hall of Monuments achevements are revoked. I have never had the God Walking title.
Seems like there’s bugs all over the place today.
Now checked my chars and the buggs appear only on those 2 I’ve played since yesterday, or last couple of days. Not on the others.

We already got several parts of an expansion.
If one think back a bit the living story parts all together make up for a pretty good amount of content. And all of them together, tied with the big events we’ve had, actually add up more than we would have gotten in an expansion after lets say 1 year upon release.
That’s how they worked up til now at least. I fail to see the need for an actual standalone expansion.
Horray, an entire week of fighting Blobbadon. Seems like Abbadon doesn’t have any small teams or guild groups running at all? Its just one big boring ant stack moving around.
This just sucks, obviously Anet has most of the blame for all this unbalancing game mechanics both in PVE vs WVW rewarding and matchup+point mechanics.

seriously FSP mostly and ROS too, why do u give up so heavily? calling us a blob server and night cappers is irrelevant and situational. It reached the point your getting overloaded by Ag players because we literally have no one to fight elsewhere, mapchat is just ppl asking where the heck they can get some wvw action.
You guys seem to not realise we every other week play servers with double our numbers and although we do have less players joining wvw we still always have fights going on.Fine, we AG outnumber you, but why not play entierly? at least just draw ~40-50 players to one map and ignore rest of maps.
And to FSP personally, AG few months back lost almost ALL it’s wvw guilds, the commnder +pug community tightened up and new guilds came not long after, mid tier is where wvw is akittens best, least lag less queues more skill, try recruiting from top tier servers.
Very true. As soon as we got too much against us several of our commanders just ragequit. I remeber this week where you hit our keep in EB once, and our commander ran away with the words “there is nothing we can do anyway”. Very demoralizing for many players. So what, just fight it out. If your can’t meet the zerg heads on, go guerilla style. If you die, respawn, repair and go at it again.
My only issue with this event is it drains every single open world pve player.

Exactly why Im annoyed by it. It just empties the entire world. The Karka event was fun in comparison to this.

Do we seriously need to keep doing these wvw matchups against blob servers? Anet really need to add some type of mechanism to wvw so we dont have these German zerg-servers any more as opponents. Sometimes it can be as bad as 100 to 5.
Just add some simple mechanism so there wont be such a bad “outmanned” anymore.
Think what you want…but it just isn’t funny.
Been through 100s of these encounters now where a thief constantly annoy a group of 5 ppl by restealthing over and over.
Its also the most boring class to fight in 1v1 since they basically cant do anything but to backstab you and restealth. Over and over and over. Im running a stealthy mesmer and I can hide, but I can do it a few times and not without limit. I must use some form of tactics in my battles or Im dead. I thief can just stealth, hit you and restealth again.
Thieves seems to be a class that can only do 2 things in wvw. Kill dolyaks and hit random people running between towers.
Just remove the class completely from the game and give us something useful.
Correction. We took Bay, then defended it a while later. Then everyone left with both inner and outer walls down to defend a tower across the map. And lost Bay when the very same guys we defended against just walked right through the holes they did a few minutes earlier. Very funny..
