Hi to all! Seconds From Disaster is a casual GW2 guild, that calls Gandara its home server. Our aim is to create a friendly environment for a wide range of players with interest varying from WvW, through structured PvP, to dungeon runs, or even ones who are here just for a nice chat with other guildies. We have a permanent running TS3 server to facilitate both PvP and PvE groups.

Is there a way to get a static IP on Infinity? Won’t help with your speed issues, but at least no external server would have issues with your IP lease problems.

Didn’t realise the budget is that low. In that case I would advise you to give it another month till you can afford something in the 350 pounds price range. Like this one:

It will run the game without frames per second going to unplayable levels.

Alternatively, you might also benefit from seeking a second-hand solution, if you don’t mind the lack of warranty. There is a lot of people nowadays that buy new motherboards, CPUs and GPUs 2-3 times per year. There’s bound to be some real cheap but good second hand hardware out there.

I would strongly advise you to use the money for a desktop PC instead of a laptop. You will get a lot more bang for the buck, so to speak. Further – if you insist on getting a laptop, at least consider an Intel CPU instead of one by AMD. They are vastly superior. AMD has not had a decent development in regards to CPUs in the past 3 years. No wonder the highest ranked gaming processor they have was out on the market roughly at that time. Nothing that came out of the Dresden factories after 2010 can match even a lowly second generation Intel i3 CPU.

Necro pets are similar in GW1. I imagine it has something to do with Asian markets.

Completely agree. Bags need to become soulbound. Either that or create a mechanic for them to be a time-limited thing – for example 3 month durability, then turns into rags or something.

The way I see it on the initial release of the BLTC a lot of people spent real cash on gems to gain initial capital (for bag slots, mini pets, and what we are most interested in when it comes to gem price fluctuations – gold). Now things are getting calmer, thus the gem supply is going down. Not that I don’t enjoy being able to get 300+ gems for 1g, but I don’t see this sticking around as a long term trend. We will likely see a quite lower price at some point due to the lesser number of people spending real cash. This can probably be countered if ArenaNet add into the game enough interesting and desired gold syncs. We see this even now – in another thread in this very forum people are complaining about the insufficient ratio between reward vs. expenses (repairs and so on). Well, this is happening exactly because ANet needs you to spend real cash to keep the show going.

If you are bored with PvE and what it’s giving you as reward – why not try WvW.

Well at least you have a semi-good news, as the PSU, even if you buy a top end one, would be a lot cheaper than a new video card.

I am just giving those games as example of conditions under which the FPS would suffer in an MMO environment. It’s normal for them to work well with your setup, as they are older in terms of the system requirements they were supposed to meet in order to be brought to a wider audience. GW2 is a 2012 game, and your CPU – while it may have 6 cores, is not optimized for gaming. Several of the AMD 4-core Phenoms would have actually done a better job for you.

But as I said initially – Your PC is fine. And 45-30 frames per second is playable. Talk about First world problems….

b) Why would you want to kick people? Unless your guild is crowded, you don’t gain anything by kicking someone, at least that I am aware of.

For one you free up space for people who can actually make a contribution to the guild.

I would also suggest an option to see “Time since Represent”.

Would also be nice if on the guild panel the Message of the Day is scoll-able. Right now if I type a slightly longer (link to voice chat, and an important message in my case) text the interface only shows half the information.

I’ve been getting quite a lot of gold seller spam lately in the in game mail. For now all I can do is delete the spam, but I would really appreciate the option to report such spam email through the interface.

It’s a mistake to compare Battlefield 3 to an MMO game, where the game client has way more variables that tax the computer’s processing power. Crowded areas, be it cities (check Dalaran in WotLK WoW) or “big battles” (think Lineage, AION) are always a pain to play through. Your PC is fine.

Check the fan of the ATI card. They are usually quite loud. The absence of noise would point to a faulty fan. Coincidenataly, this will crash your PC when the card is taxed, as the temp. will go beyond the safe point very quickly while you are playing – then the system will experience issues that one would classify as a crash.

It really depends on the video adapter, though the higher load is on the CPU. For example – my desktop has Phenom II 965 and a GTX570. During the beta when initially the GPU was almost ignored and the CPU cores were not utilized very well, the game ran smoothly at best when details were maxed. During the second beta I was able to play on maxed setting, run Fraps and compress video at the same time thanks to the CPU cores the game did not use, but the FPS suffered a little. Now I imagine you will be able to play quite well with most setups that do not involve a mobile CPU and GPU. Though I was able to play the game on a Acer 5755G on average details with no major hiccups.

I am not the biggest expert, but I managed to get rid of the networking errors. One thing I can confirm – the advices in the Knowledge Base do not work, at least not with Belkin routers. No amount of forwarded ports will help you stay online in GW2. The only thing that helps is putting the PC you play with in DMZ.

Depends on your eyesight. It’s more likely that you will find it quite annoying. Further you will need to bring down all visuals to the minimum. I had to do it when I was trying to play on a laptop with a GF9500 and the game was barely playable in the sylvary starting area.
