Can we split the Dev Tracker into actual developer replies and customer service replies?
When I look at the DT I see dozens of CS posts, a lot of them short “boiler plate” replies, which I’m sure are very pertinent in their context, but just clutter the screen of the DT.
Right now, I’d give D/T a 1/10, “would not browse”.
Please add this feature.
Among other things you can also call target on a friendly, which helps a ton to keep track of them in a mob of un-friendlies.
Enemy waypoints were up in SoR’s BL within what seemed like a few short hours of reset.
… not that it did them a lot of good, with the waypoint being contested the whole time.
Best cat-and-mouse in a while.
It is a bit silly to look at current rankings based on the old system when ANet already said they are changing the system. You might as well guess the new rankings based on alphabetic order.
Instead of complaining about ratings published by sites using the outdated system, rather complain that ANet hasn’t told us how the new system will work, and if they will take steps to alleviate the pain of re-jiggering the whole league over the next few weeks or months.
But, I’m more worried about a fundamental flaw.
hahah it must’ve sucked coming in 2nd place 11 weeks in a row. (…)
The reason we came in several weeks in second place, and by a good margin, was that at the time there were really 4 servers with strong WvW game (rolling skill and coverage into one, so we don’t get sidetracked here, please). Since we only have three servers in a tier, one of the four strong ones ended up in tier 2 where they rolled everyone else up and smoked them like a cheap joint. This is just a downside of having a fixed sized tier, whether it’s 3, or 2, or 4, or X. If you have X+1 strong participants, the next lower ranked players will have a very bad day. For a very long time.
I hope ANet keeps an eye on this and thinks of something to even this out a bit. Maybe offer free transfers for some guilds willing to move as a whole, or something like that. Being stuck in an unbalanced tier without much hope of things changing will be very bad for the game.
I understand why people want shorter matches, so things even out faster, but that’s not going to work.
The reason is that some servers have much better coverage on some days than others. For example, our matches against Black Gate from a few weeks ago were more or less even during the weekend, but we were blown out during the week.
A better solution might be to just bite the bullet and assign some subjective ratings to the server. Look at your metrics from the last two or three WvW rounds, determine population and ratings trends, look at the old ratings, and then assign a rating, instead of going across the board with 1,500. There will be some crying and gnashing of teeth, but overall I think this will be a better starting position. It should avoid some of the things described in other posts, like servers moving up a lot because they were facing a weak opponent.
Of course, if we have 4 very strong servers now and the next server is significantly weaker, the 3-way setup unfortunately guarantees that there will be a blow out in T2. Every week. Maybe Anet will allow free transfers in that situation, to make servers in position 5 and 6 more competitive?
Don’t let the perfect (everyone pays for transfers) be the enemy of the good (balanced WvW matches).
How about you tell your guild mates to do something about that treb? Then you wouldn’t have to sit there anymore either.
In the extreme, this could make bunker builds unbeatable. GW2’s stuns are already pretty short. To be stun locked you would need several people on you, and then you’d be dead during the first stun anyway.
Re: Loot Bags
The super annoying thing about the bags is if you miss them because they despawn after just a few minutes. I had two bags drop in the Astral Home sawmill camp while I was lying there dead. I hoped my team would win and rez me, so I could pick them up, but alas we lost. I respawned in the SW corner of the map and ran back to the camp, but the bags were gone.
I’d like the bags to either
1) stay around longer, (put a limit on how many bags you can have lying around at one time, but keep the bags around longer)
2) get teleported to you if you use a WP (coding is likely very hard for this one, so never mind),
3) drop them into our mail!!! (YES, please!!!)
The culling change “felt” better to me, i.e. I wasn’t counting allies and enemies and when they popped, but it seemed I had a better feel for how many enemy players I was facing.
Caedas is WvW hardcore in that all the time everyone fights, no one quits! But we are not elitist. People new to WvW are just as welcome as veterans. A number of people are still gearing up, working on alts and gathering stuff for legendaries, so we are also still active in PvE.
A nice change would be if badges would be awarded not just for P/K-ing.
If you play WvW “the correct way”, i.e. escort yaks, guard your fortifications and camps, and run supply you are a great team player and contribute greatly to your server winning, and you will get ZERO badges. Same for playing support classes. If you want badges play AOE glass cannon builds and classes.
Red denotes enemies for everything in WvW unless you are red in which case red also means friend. Can we get the team color changed to yellow/gold?
Thief also has scorpion wire, which pulls you in and does a KD. The wire takes a bit to get to you depending on distance. Can be dodged, LOS and just plain out-of-range’d.
The problem might be more that when you get focused by 3 or more mobs or players the time from “argh, I’m going to die soon” to being downed is maybe a second or two.
But if you are facing those odds you should already be hammering your dodge roll to get the heck outta there. A nice thing would be if your heal skill would override ANYTHING else you are doing at the moment. The ties in with complaints about being stuck somehow when rezzing or in a channeled skill.
Vertical drops don't count towards your max range. Increase range of defender's ranged attacks.

I’d love to get some more range on my shortbow, too, especially when you are shooting straight down. WTH? But don’t make the argument that you need better defensive skills because you didn’t set up defensive siege, coz… duh!
Even the one minute timer thingie isn’t good, as you always go around after a siege to rez your peeps to held defend against the next or counter attack. 5min would be reasonable, as that’s the longest it’ll take you to run anywhere anyways.
I got maybe 3 or so keys drop from mobs when I was lvl20, 30-ish. Nothing after 60.
If you are doing anything else with your gold, like repairing, re-skilling, WvW (blueprints, repairs, upgrades), increasing storage, you really have zero incentive to open these chests.
The gambling analogy is pretty true, though it’s less like a Vegas slot machine and more like one of those claw machines, where you get useless junk.
Hmm, I actually like my thief in WvW. The AOE bomb (and blast finisher) and poison and area weakness are great for mob fights and clearing walls. shrugs
Whether the thief down skills are OP or not, this is just a huge annoyance and there is no reason behind it! It seems like this is just a show-off. Imagine your profession has a whirling attack skill and the camera would spin around with you.
When I use the down skill #3, the stealth, the camera spins around my char. This becomes a huge issue if I’m trying to get away while down: go stealth and then teleport to a safe spot. But since the camera spins it makes this very difficult to find that safe spot again after the spin.
If this is done because it makes the thief a little less OP when down, then just throw out this skill, instead of offering this tantalizing combo, but making it a huge PITA to use, for no coding/performance/lore reason!
One of the great things in GW2 is that doing quests in a group doesn’t require you to formally group up to get credit for it. But on occasion I have found it unfortunate that you couldn’t track down who you just worked with a little easier.
For example, I was doing a dynamic event earlier with a passer-by. She got defeated after a while and I was barely able to make my get-away (thief stealth FTW!). It would have been nice if I could have looked her up somehow to ask if she wanted to have another go at it, without going “/map Hey, the blonde Norn girl who just tried the SoSvanir event, wanna try again?”
Unfortunately, there’s no Batman class as of yet. ArenaNet remains uninformed of the biggest problem Guild Wars 2 has – the lack of Batman class.
Hmm, it seems you should be able to make a “Batthief”.
Dancing Daggers – batarang
Scorpion Wire – Batman’s zip-line thingie
Any shadow step ability – jumping on people
Any stealth skill – duh!!
(Yea, I’m not a Batman-fanatic, so all you who are, have away at it
)
In WvW, due to lagging and performance issues when you have 40+ people on screen I can’t run melee builds at all, so steal becomes totally useless to me.
I’d suggest a “remote” steal for F2, something that’s useful for ranged builds and doesn’t shadow step you into a guardian’s greatsword. Obviously, the stolen skill should also be a ranged one.
Change thread title, maybe? Add something that indicates this is really about initiative.
Using Sword/Dagger, Flanking Strike sometimes evades too far away from the target and my “backstabs” miss completely. Sometimes is works fine, though. Seems vaguely related to where I’m standing when I execute FS, but I haven’t been able to spot the pattern yet.
Also, it would be awesome if our (and probably every class’?) slot skills would change with a weapon slot, i.e. allow different slot skills for different weapons.
And, oh, yea (again, for all classes) — give us a save option for our bar (and weps), please!!! What I’m using for WvW is very different than what I’m running for PvE. If I have to swap weapons manually that’s ok, but please let me save the bars.
Great for WvW against zergs. I just wish we could get a little more range on it, maybe with a trait. Or add some range to it when you are shooting downwards, e.g from a wall.
