don’t you see it somewhere when you go to preferences or something? …I’m sure I remember it’s in there on the bottom right corner on one of the tabs…can’t log in atm but I was pretty sure it was in there somewhere.
You might be thinking of the FPS number.
TW ran a GvG against RE last night, where RE employed 2 GC thieves to pick off anyone separated from the main group. It was surprisingly effective for a while.
It’s also helpful in jumping puzzles, where you could drop the one before a jump, as opposed to just dropping one at the end to get other people up.
Of course, you can switch characters while in queue, but you lose the queue.
What I would like to see is queuing up with character A for WvW, then being able to switch to alt character B while staying in the queue with char A. When the queue pops, you get the usual interface and when you decide to go to WvW, char A is loaded in.
You also need to be… lvl7 I think before you get access to this.
This is all sort of a moot point isn’t it? No one can see your rank, enemies see you, but they don’t know it’s “you” who has that rank. Your allies can’t see your rank either.
Tip: turn on the option for something like “display all enemy nameplates” in the options menu. It will help you pick out enemies from very far away, and you will see “X Server Invader/Recruit/etc.” to get a judge of the person’s ability.
Not quite. In this system some pro-player could be on an alt with a low WXP rank. Alternatively, you could have someone just jump into WvW to join the karma trains, earning dozens of WXP ranks without ever lifting a finger.
Yaro Devon has said that the servers wouldn’t be able to hold higher AOE so simple solution upgrade servers, there are many other games out today that can hold amazing amounts of action and graphics for their games namely example the battlefield franchise with their frostbite engine! If you are talking about their money than I’m sure that I formation is available with their yearly profits reports and such along with over 3 million copies sold within a year
Devon also said “exponentially”. That means x to y. Just adding “X times” more servers wouldn’t be required, you need “to the X” more servers.
Yikes, I shudder to think about something similar with body blocking (being asked for in another thread) and all those collision detections being thrown in there.
If everyone turned on melee assist, wouldn’t that be the same? Let’s try it!!
mushroom cloud over GW2 server farm
Courier Speed: Gain a stack of CS for each time you pick up supply. Each stack grants you a 5% increase in run speed. Stacks up to 5 times. Lost on downed.
And Chorazin, you could also ask similar question about command line…for those uninitiated, just look how extensive it was:
Let me just stop you right there…
I’d much rather have a config screen than hack the command line. What’s next? Set your config with peek/poke?
Also, I don’t know how he did, but I got him down once without knowing it (He got downed in stealth) and next thing I know he appear about 15 seconds later with 95% of his downed health bar, healing himself up 10 feets from me and he never showed on my screen between the last time he went in stealth and when he came back with 95% of his downed.
That happens to my thief on occasion if I get downed just after I put up shadow refuge. If I don’t take any more damage and can start my downed heal channel I’m close to getting up again when SR ends.
I wanna talk about how you did 125k damage to that mosquito!!
I hope they wouldn’t re-use the Kilrathi customs from the Wing Commander move to represent the Charr…
A level 80 does not need more skill points, more karma,or tier 5 mats.
skillpoints → make sup siege for WvW, several items from FM vendor needed for high-end exotics, legendaries or ascended items
karma → Orr jewelry boxes if nothing else
T5 mats → craft rares for MFing to get exoctis, maybe a pre
All these would be welcome.
1) “Flippers hurt the market and people because they buy things for less than they are worth.”
Wrong. Everything is worth what someone else is willing to pay for it. If you are selling for less than that you either wanted to sell your item really fast (maybe because you needed the gold right away, or you figured the price would drop even more for some reason), or you didn’t look at the going price, which is your own fault.
Note that the argument “well, the flipper bought that item for cheap, and if he didn’t exist I could have had it for that low price” is… awkward.
2) “Flippers hurt the market and people because they sell things for more than they are worth.”
Again, the demand drives the price. If the flipper charges too much for it the listing will be underbid and he’ll be stuck with the item, or he’ll eat a 5% loss for relisting, both of which are deadly to flippers.
3) Prices are going up all the time.
I’m a crafter and very familiar with the prices of about a dozen or 2 T6 items. I craft maybe 3 to 5 items, all using T6 mats and lodes, and I’m actually amazed how stable the prices have been for months on end now. They do fluctuate quite a bit, from a (really very) low X to a high of X*2, even 2.5, but a) the price of the crafted items always moves with this and stuff still sells, and b) these price spikes never last more than 2 weeks to maybe a month, settling in at around X*1.2 to X*1.5.
4) Stuff is too expensive for me.
Well, that might be, though I’d add “right now”. Even if you say you play so little, you’ll never earn enough gold or mats to be able to afford exotics (due to inflation), most things in GW2 earn you karma, which you can eventually use to buy exotics as the karma price for them isn’t going up.
5) But I want it now for whatever I’m willing/able to pay for it.
Yea, well…
As an aside, mind you, I differentiate between flippers (buy and sell immediately, basically playing within the market) and people trying to corner a market (buy ALL THE THINGS, then sell slowly, which is distorting the market). The first group is playing their own little mini game. I’m pretty sure Jon addressed the later group, that they are keeping an eye out for behavior like that and how the size of the market and the game population makes this nearly impossible.
Over the past few days I’ve seen:
Unstompable player, Player with no cooldown on downed skills, teleport hack.
And quite sure zoomhack is still pretty common too, and not talking about the resized window.
Happened to me today when trying to stomp someone. Not sure was it because of lag but i could hit the body when hitting air to the side of the actual model. Couldn’t stomp though.
I have had this happen with players I tried to rez. You stand right next to the corpse, but you don’t get the rez option. They ask in /say “rez plox?” and I can only say “sry, can’t target you”.
they ripoff everyone with fine stones which you HAVE to buy no matter what, there’s no other option
Yea, nonsense. I have never bought these and had up to 9 in my bank. I must have received them either from story or daily missions. They are very rare for sure, but you do get them.
1) Lie down.
2) Try not to cry.
3) Cry a lot.
… after seeing the GW2 commercial…
I hope whoever green-lighted that thing was sent to fight Zaithan with a butter knife.
Awesome commercial for China! I hope they will pull in more people!
Solo as in “completely by yourself”, or solo as in “just not grouped up”? Except for dungeons you don’t have to group up for anything. Even harder mobs can be killed with a few folks around and you get credit even without being in a group.
If you are really all by yourself later champ mobs will be hard to take down by yourself. Some places will be hard to get to unless you play certain classes.
But to get to 80, you can stick to Queensdale all day long, as your XP rewards scale with your level.
Note that several places can only be accessed through portals that might be far away from the zone. Metrica has one like that in the SE corner and Fireheart has one near the south border.
Amazing of how many people fail at reading and compehension even after op takes the time to reiterate what he is referring to.
To the op I would suggest to send this to the bug section if what you stated is true.
Reading is for the timid. Real forum warriors jump in blindly.
Yea, like I always say – it’s not my fault you didn’t write what I read.
Ok, here is the TL;DR :
Ele mist form use = 0 WXP
You’re welcome!
i guess you need this time to correctly setup your macro skills chain right ???
i think this is not allowed if this is you plan to do.
“compare and calculate the damage over time of different skills”
Last night, I had the repair NPC in the NW tower come out through the still closed gate and attack me. lol
Report as /bug, click the “exploit” option.
Kicking? I would be happy if first of all I could always invite people into party through the chat window. Sometimes it works, sometimes I only get the “report” option.
Drops and crafting.
The sucky part is that you did not get experience for any discoveries after you hit 400. If you are a lvl400 weapons smith and already discovered all your exotic weapons…, gratz, you could have had 10-15 levels right there.
Trait changes will only affect a single class. Depending on the tier you drop it in, you limit what other traits this can be combined with. Something improving warrior shouts in the line that already has a bunch of shout enhancers, for example, or putting a new trait into the GM tier, which deducts 30 points from your available trait points.
Adding a single new skill in GW1 meant you had to balance it against all skills from all … 10? classes.
If you have had and used your MF gear you got your benefit out of it. If you get a full refund, do you also lose all the extra/better loot you got?
Score Update!
I’m all alone!

Like if thieves didn’t had weapons enough…
Thief is the second worse class as for weapon choice on the same spot as the Elementalist with 3.5 weapons to choose from whereas engineer is the worse at 3 weapons.
cough kits cough attunements cough
He said that the problems with professions etc. was balancing.
I understood the main reason against new professions was that ANet feels they have the archetypes covered. What role do you think isn’t covered?
No because that would only increase workloads.
This. I find the idea interesting, but unless ANet doubles the team I fear it would be too much work.
And why would you migrate when you can guest??
You guys really don’t get how hard it actually is to release a new map. They have to make sure there are no shenanigans, like a jump that gets you around the Keeps Wall, or kittened places where you can put Arrow Carts/Trebs, and so on.
a) it’s not like the old, super polished maps didn’t have these issues (getting into Hills by walking around the outside of the map, WTFLULZFIXMENAOW!?), and b) I’d happily accept a new map that will allow for some exploits if it means WE GET A NEW MAP.
Having players bang around on the map will shake out the bugs faster than rotating it through a small QA department. Just have the map team stay assigned to the WvW map group to fix these issue quickly.
coming soon™
When it’s ready…
Working as intended.
Works as coded.
The strange thing everyone who brings this ‘problem’ up seems to assume is: “you played GW1 so you automatically have 500 freeby points”…
Hah! I finished all three campaigns and EotN, plus played a few months extra and I’m not even at 20 out of the 50 HoM points. The people kicking up sand assume it’s all kittens and giggles…
Seriously, GW2 players think they know what grind is. Go grind the insane amount of points you need to get reputation titles. Have a look what it takes to grind the weapons and prestige armors needed. Go battle the hard mode dungeons and the realm of Torment.
If you knew what it takes to get those 500 APs, then you’d understand those players earned it. And to compare the effort to gain the 500 AP from HoM to what it takes to get 500 in this game… it’s a joke.
I got the Drunkard title before you could spam it. That was true grinding. =)
Exactly! I got the explorer title before there was textmod or players sharing maps to compare. We had to kill every single creature in every single map in the original game and all the expansions in hard mode. We had to do every mission and every bonus within those missions in both standard and hard mode. If the whiners think it is so easy, then let them pay the $40.00 for all 4 games and get the titles themselves.
I got my dungeon titles after the shadow form nerf, HAH!
But seriously, the drunk title took some dedication before they changed it. /bow Now tell me you did it without disabling post-processing effects and I’ll be really impressed!
If the toon in any way could feel the backstab the thief should get revealed. This does not apply to blind since he simply missed the attack. So I do agree that block should trigger revealed.
“Blind = miss, so you stay stealthed” sounds logical, but in game terms it’s bad.
Classes with a CD mechanic will incur the CD when they “miss”. Thieves have their initiative as a CD mechanic, but BS is “free”, so they incur no CD penalty for missing. What’s supposed to limit BS is that you are revealed after it, but a miss doesn’t trigger this, so again no penalty. They can just keep on hacking away until they finally hit.
Imagine your rifle warrior would get a do-over on his kill shot, because he got blinded at the end of the channel.
Achievements from another game giving you easy points here? Should be a no-no.
Similarly, skills learned in another game making it easy for you to get achievements here? Should be a no-no.
The game should use gallifreyan fonts and be played with a didgeridoo as a controller, to put everyone on the same footing.
“1 min of time and 3.5 silver” yeah of course thats not much if you do it ONCE ….
It’s not even that!
1) You can’t change your trait allocation inside WvW. You have leave and requeue afterwards.
2) Even without reallocation of points, there is no way to save your trait and gear setup short of taking screen shots.
It’d be nice to be able to buy more guild influence without having to leave the WvW maps.
Mostly I’m interested in “hits points restored” right now. This should include healing to myself as well as others from guardian dodge rolls or a thief blasting a water field. The numbers already pop up on screen, so it might be easy to add them to the combat log.
Ideally, I’d like condition damage ticks (bleeds, posion, etc) and heal ticks (regen, guardian virtue #2) added as well.
New maps are definitely in the plans, however I can’t say with any degree of certainty when that might be. It takes a good deal of time to get a map to the level of polish that the current maps are in and while we want to get new maps out to mix up the gameplay, we aren’t going to release them until they are totally ready. When there is more to tell, we will tell it, but for now all I can say is we definitely want to do new maps and will when time allows.
You do realize that no matter how much polishing time you put in them, only in heavy play will you find all the exploits and holes and unbalanced things. Just look at the list of problems that got fixed in the existing maps, which I’m sure underwent a good deal of polishing, too.
I’m sure WvW players can deal with not having a veteran ice wurm placed just so in exchange for getting to play on a new map.
Blind Faith in the Jade Emperor leads to this.
Indo killed his entire guild in one jump…
Cliffs are OP, we keep saying that!
A job? A jumping puzzle is now a job?
That’s some intense team chat! Gratz on 250k!
Now, I’m waiting for the animated version, a la Onyxia Wipe → https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KEPx6nbbwz8&noredirect=1
Maybe we need some enemies that have a really high armor value, but condition damage still gets through 1:1, to balance things out. Make a dungeon, where all the bosses have this super armor and the rewards are ascended. See how the direct damage crows will like it.
I wonder how the gagillion stun breakers Guardian has will be affected by the patch.
I think everyone with a Mesmer is going to go back to stacking Confusion and now with Torment as soon as the patch goes live. Torment itself seems like it’ll just encourage even more blobbing, despite it obviously being intended for small group combat.
Retaliation – don’t fight
Torment – don’t move
Confusion – don’t do anything
? – don’t even show your face around here
I’d be very happy if axe #1 and #2 didn’t need a target to hit. Pretty much every other attack skill in game hist whatever is in front of you, but necro axe just happily swishes at the air.
At this point, everyone would be happy enough with any new maps. Even flawed ones (favorable, or unfavorable to one side, walls you can walk through, etc) would be acceptable if the flaws would get ironed out in the next matchup or the one after.
Maybe do a competition where people would draw up maps and your WvW team would evaluated them. Give themes to maps, like an all wooded map, map without keeps, pop cap of 30, etc. Then mock-up the most promising ones and drop them into WvW rotations.
If you are concerned you’ll get 5,000 maps, 90% done in crayon and nailpolish on napkins and waxpaper, just invite several of the largest WvW guilds from each server. Yea, that’d be a bit elitist, but the big WvW guilds are probably most aware of what works/is fun/sucks in WvW maps. You could also use these guilds as go-betweens and have them take submissions from other people on the server.
