Hahaha
He can ask for whatever he wants though. It’s his problem if he doesn’t find anyone to play with.
You mean, there aren’t enough people to fit his criteria? I think his chances of getting a group are very very high
Yeah, that was kind of what I meant. I have 2,3K achievement points. Not saying that is standard but he sured narrowed his LFG message down.
Hahaha He can ask for whatever he wants though. It’s his problem if he doesn’t find anyone to play with.
Kebabrullemedsåsbump!
What’s the MTU value?
Why doesn’t it matter? I don’t want to do all the work just so someone else can waltz in and earn gold rank by doing nothing.
I don’t get why you almost always get the gold reward rank in events, no matter if you just fired 5 shots/spells or been there from the start. This is unfair and should be changed.
Silver rank should be the standard rank and gold rank should be given only to the one’s who contributed the most to the event. Bronze rank should also be more common.
Right now you get bronze rank by only being in the same area, saying hello to the mob and silver if you contributed just a little. Gold is the standard award.

kitten , you write small novels. It takes an hour to read through everything…
Edit:
But I am not complaining on your opinions, just that many people probably don’t feel like reading everything and just ignore the thread completely. I agree with you although I did not read everything…

TLDR: If you run with a well oiled machine that knows every trick, it’s just playing by route and can be very easy to overcome any obstacle. Playing with a group where you have to deal with other players mistakes can be a lot more challenging and in turn much more fun and rewarding.
Yeah, but shouldn’t it be content/dungeons in the game that are hard even for veteran/skilled players such as yourself?
Ya this is what I don’t get. Apparently challenging content for hardcore players should be oriented around carrying everyone (eg directing them and telling them what to do). Makes no sense for any hardcore players. Let casuals play how they want and offer the same choices for hardcore.
You mean that the good players should babysit the newbies? What if I don’t want to do that? (I mean, if I was a good player that is)
oh, maybe you were ironic. hard to tell in text form…
Yes, but what do you think of the idea? That’s what I want to know.
Ofc I know the mechanic exists.
Yes, but what I would like to see the possibility to spare “all” (some) mobs, at least the humanoid one’s. I am not saying I don’t want to kill anyone in the game, but I don’t like the feeling of killing every single mob in the game. Makes me feel like mass murderer, and not a hero.
Or that they randomly (pretty often) yield and become immune to damage just as with the skill challenger duels.
Or run away and leave a loot bag.
For example:
Let’s say my quest objective is to “defeat” 10 centaurs or whatever.
I would like to have the choice to spare them/only hurting them instead of killing them, or at least that some of them give up and become passified or something.
Get it?
I am not only talking about players, I am talking about the enemies in PvE aswell.
I think I have seen alot of quests that says “Kill x numbers of y” by the way…but maybe that just goes for monsters and not human(oids).
You are saying that every enemy I have met/killed didn’t end up killed but was defeated instead?
Then instead of calling it grind call it hack-n-slash. Guild Wars 2 is a hack-n-slash game…at least for alot of the normal quests.
You run in, gather up 5 mobs and press all the buttons that shine and make sure to heal when you are low on HP. Then you win
Pressing “F” as part of quests and achievements should be changed to something more challenging, like solving a puzzle or something like that. They don’t need to remove pressing “F” completly but right now there is too much of it. If you are not hack-n-slashing mobs, you are pressing F. That’s boring.

last bump……………………………..!
Have you tried downloading a new GW2-client?
“You’re seeing people who you’ll see again, and rescuing a village that will stay rescued.” Except you’ll never see them again, and the village needs rescuing again 5 minutes later…
Bahaha, that is so true.
2. Dragon bashing and cannon firing, how is walking around a town pressing “F” 300 times for an achievement a positive extension of the manifesto?
I have to say, I think that’s really funny too. Not really much of a challenge.
Not a bad idea, but not super important to me either… I wouldn’t complain if they added it.
Seems a little brutal to me. I pass
I am no expert, but maybe it has something to do with the firewall? Maybe the firewall is blocking the client from downloading the update?
More skills maybe not necessary but some potion/skillbars for food, would be very nice indeed.
I had the same problem a week ago. For me it was because of a conflict btw two harddrives. I moved over everything to the same map and then everything worked again.
I had the same issue. Everything worked just fine until one afternoon, after I had downloaded the latest patch, I went in to see the updates, logged out and later the same evening tried to log in again but got instant crash message for some reason. Like I said, worked when redownloaded the whole game and move everything to C: instead of my secondary harddrive.
I was just about to post a similiar thread about skillbars for potions/food. This is very much needed.
Aaaaaamaazing idea! You are a genius!
(OK, I have already commented on this topic in the General Discussion-forum)
Bumperumpdumpflump!
The game is for casuals, learn it and move to other game (there’s a fine one coming 2013/2014).
I do not consider myself as an elite player. Like I wrote, I barely know the name of my skills. The PvE-part is too easy no matter if you are “casual” or “elite”.
I actually have a suggestion…[a lot of text]
Hey, not a bad idea at all! Maybe you can have the re-level-setting come with a harder difficulty aswell. Like you can take less damage, skills takes longer to recharge etc?
By the way OP, I think it’s like 20 threads like this one already. :P
OP: I agree with most of what you said…outside of fractals that is.
-The dungeons are bland. Groups skip the harder paths, and go for quick and easy. This won’t change.
-The boss mechanics are: Lots of bad floor, one shot badfloor, or tank and spank(even though there are no tanks).
-Most of the content is easy… too easy. I agree the one great dungeon everyone loved was temporary. I’ll never understand why this wasnt just left in the game.
-I like having fun intrinsicly, but being rewarded is fulfilling too.
-Open world encounters are too one dimensional and have to be due to the sheer number of people participating.
Overall, it is a very easy, grindy game. However, a very eye-pleasing game. There isnt an MMO to date that has the breath taking views and scenery that GW2 has.
And I, in turn, agree with most of what you wrote.
The games looks really good, no doubt about it, but it’s a big “waste” when you can just rush through it. I can’t understand why they are so afraid of making the game harder.
WoW started this easy-piecy-trend so it’s their fault. But seriously, it is… If you are running around out in the wild-life/woods/around a enemy fortress, you should at least be a little on edge, but you are never on edge in GW2 because you can just mash random keybuttons and still beat the kitten out of most mobs.
I don’t even know the name of most of my skills because I just randomly press buttons without thinking of what I am doing.
You never kill someone, they end up defeated. Seconds later they’re at full health again at the nearest hospik station. That’s even official.
I guess you are playing with me…
It would be great if there were some kind of ability to spare your opponent. Another possibility could be if the mob themselves randomly yield/escape and dropping a bag of loot behind them. I don’t like the feeling of running around killing tons of enemies. Sometimes a mob should be smart enough to just beg for mercy or run away before you can kill them.
Good or bad idea?
(edited by Mejo.3198)
I just think GW2 lacks general challenge. It’s a button-mashing game where you cut down gazillions of mobs and on occasion press F to “Repair” or “Whatever” on something. It’s pretty brain dead if you ask me. I want to make each fight count and want more of a challenge in general. How’s pressing F actually a challenge? Couldn’t I at least be forced to solve some kind of minor puzzle instead?
I’ve had this game pretty much since it came out. I’ve found the respawn rate to be a bit ridiculous in many places. On the other hand, with good technique on my Nec, I can usually kite and defeat several of them at the same time. I’ve gotten one friend to come try the game. He hated it. Since then, I’ve felt obligated to warn friends about the respawn in this game. I’ve probably talked 12 people out of buying it since then. The respawn clock is definitely a half-ass, thrown together Yugo mechanic. Doesn’t bother me too much; but I know several who hated it so bad, they quit and probably each is convincing their friends not to play it.
Yes, I don’t like the respawn rate either. Doesn’t feel like you have accomplished anything and in some places you get your kitten full of mobs when you are fighting another one. The game cheats…
Honestly, I never play any “cutsie” or bestial race in any MMO I pick up. Just ain’t my thing, so as such Asura and Charr are a no-go. In GW2, I’m more partial to Human or Sylvari. I would also say Norn, but the male Norns are very oddly proportioned. If they were just larger humans with celtic/viking hairstyles, that would have been fine. Hell, the Norn females actually do look more like larger human females, but the males have the exaggerated steroid-popping, sausage-fingered musculature going on for them, which turns me away, and also makes any class that’s not a heavily armored facebasher look rather odd.
I thought the same about humans in WoW, funny enough. Didn’t matter if you were a mighty warrior or clever mage, you always were JACKED.
Haha, I know! The human males in WoW had such weird proportions, with fingers/hands like bananas and forearms like gorillas. Same with the night elf males. They sure could have tone them down at least a little…
I just want more challenging content. Doesn’t have anything to do with hardcore vs casual. Even the games I play casually I like a challenge.
I don’t want this to be the dark souls of MMOs, but would like something beyond auto-attack akitten meta events (looking at you karka queen).
I don’t think any of these arguments really have anything to do with hardcore vs casual. I can play a game 1-2 hrs a week or less and still like to be challenged. Maybe change the title to “Catering to bad video game players is ruining Guild Wars 2?”
Or just change the title to “Make Guild Wars 2 more difficult” or something…
I agree with what you wrote though. I want the normal quests in the game to be more challenging and I want to plan and prepare a little more. Make each fight count a little more then it does right now if you know what I mean.
Because it feels like an hack-n-slash game to me right now and I don’t need to think over which abilities to use on certain enemies. I just rush in and start tapping keyboard buttons…mostly.
And that’s boring.
Don’t categorize this into a"hardcore vs casual" just because some want more challenge.
I guess people like to play as “themselves” or as a super-hero human. Nothing wrong with neither charr nor the asuran.
Smallest charr/norn is actually on par with humans. Size difference is not that big, it’s more a subjective thing.
Yes, the smallest charrs are actually close to average height for human males, true. But they are hunching so they are still taller if they would stretch out. :P
It’s not only because of the height though, but the overall size aswell. The norn males look so ugly and weirdly proportioned. They have like one or two decent looking body types and the rest looks like Hulk on steroids. I doesn’t appeal to me. Same goes for the charrs.
I still think it would have been better with norns being a bigger subrace to humans, cause as a stand alone race they doesn’t fit into the game like the rest of the races. But they should have thought of that before Guild Wars 1 I guess.
I agree, I could pick a norn or charr at the smallest size though.
“casual” does not mean “amateur”. Nothing in this game needs to be made easier, things need to be made harder. If you are finding things in this game too hard or challenging, you need more practice and need to improve more.
I fully agree!
About the sizes…
Yeah, what? I have seen that one. Don’t understand what you want to say exactly?
I think a combination of things needs to happen. I think bosses need to be programmed with many more abilities. I think they need to use these abilities at random rather than just cycling through the same 2-3 routines. As long as you can predict what the boss will do, your testing your memory, not your talent/skill.
I think that general mobs need to have more than the two abilities which is common. Normal mobs don’t always use the same ability at the same time, but they do often enough, so have them use their attacks more randomly.
Then, throw in more interesting mechanics and they might have something.
Good points
While I’ve seen quite a few requests for more challenge, I seldom see any of those posters offering concrete suggestions as to how to provide it. Now, there’s a challenge, work towards a solution.
For starters they could have:
¤ Harder normal mobs and enemies in general, which require some kind of strategy to attack.
¤As I wrote above, less waypoints which requires you to THINK before rushing into a battle since you might have to run a long way back if you die.
(edited by Mejo.3198)
And waypoints everywhere which doesn’t require you to plan your route or anything and kind of takes away the adventurous feeling.
You can’t use a Waypoint that you haven’t discovered yet, so you will indeed have to walk there at least once. Also nobody forces you to use them .. if you want to run an hour from LA to Orr each time .. more power to you
Yeah, but if everyone else are doing it, so will you in the long run. It’s not the same being forced to run as in run if you “feel like it”.
It’s just stupid with the whole waypoint system. It would be better if you had to go to one waypoint to teleport to another one, but since you can teleport from everywhere you are instantly blipping around here and there.
And there are way too many of them aswell!
Maybe this is a stupid idea, but couldn’t they just limited teleportion BETWEEN DIFFERENT MAPS/AREAS to something referred to as MAIN WAYPOINTS?
Then, once you have gotten to one area, you can teleport btw the small waypoints in the same area, BUT only BETWEEN THEM and not from everywhere around.
Then take away some of the gazillion waypoints in the game and you might actually have more of a challenge.
Less waypoint means more planning and not being able to rely on a waypoint if you “die”…
and challenge is a good thing in a game!
(edited by Mejo.3198)
They did make them smaller. In gw1 they were much taller. Closer to ogre height.
Aha, did not know that! Never played Guild Wars 1 :-) Good to know!
But again, it’s still the main reason for me why I don’t want to play as norn or charr. They are just awkwardly big.
I don’t mind having people being better then me, but the game is too easy in general. Normal quests just feels like hack-n-slash mostly. And waypoints everywhere which doesn’t require you to plan your route or anything and kind of takes away the adventurous feeling.
If they only could have made the charrs and the norns somewhat smaller! First off, the norn, especially norn males, stand out way to much in a crowd and are way to big of a target.
And Norn as a race are pretty boring in general since it’s practically another human race, but oversized and viking-like. They could have made the norns a subrace to humans or something but I guess it’s way too late to change the lore :P And made them a little smaller aswell…
And as someone else said, the norn males looks like kitten. They really do.
The females on the other hand, are actually better looking and more human like then the female humans so they are cool to me.
The charrs are cool but also too big and feel a little clumsy. They are supposed to have been weapontrained since birth but there is no telling since they swing around with their sword like a 10-year-old. And not to mention the clipping on the armour. AND that they run on all fours which is fine but they do it in ultra-rapid! Looks stupid and feels tideous.
The vegetables are an ok race but doesn’t suit me that much. Can’t put my finger on why.
If there is another class I can choose beside the humans, it’s the azurans…otherwise I think I will continue to play mostly with humans.
(edited by Mejo.3198)
Yes, the faces in this game are way too doll like and perfect, at least the female faces.
Yes, that’s some unique faces. You did a good job with the black woman but the old woman looked a bit manlike with a pretty big jaw/chin.
i don’t think her jaw is that big, it just isn’t pointy
it’s sort of how some players call the body type those characters have ‘fat’, when it’s the most realistic shape
why does every female character have to have a small face? many of the human female faces look very child-like and almost absent-minded to me, i’d like to see more ‘strong’ faces with personality like the elderly woman face
Well, I do not like the pinhead, child like faces in this game either, but I thought that old lady had an somewhat manlike jaw, even with normal standards.
I realized that this thread is for posting photos of characters faces and judging other players photo’s, so I will stop posting replies who doesn’t belong in here.
5/10
almost everyone seems to use the same 2-3 hair and face choices, which is strange since humans in this game have the most options
