Not to be rude but it’s just a game. Why would I hate something that’s not even real?
Most of the faces you guys post look the same as the original one’s. Very good looking and doll like.
I can not even get the game started since the last patch! Getting instant crash message. And no responses from Anet, on my crash messages that I post either. What to do? Re-install the newest patch?
Please, anyone…?
I have not been playing the game for some months and now just lately I updated the game and ran it just quick. But when I was trying to play the game later the same day, I got the crash-message shown below and have ever since (for two days now).
I tried to delete the local.dat-file but the game still crashes. Any tips?
Still isn’t fixed though…
I just read through the forum rules and these kind of topics should generally not be posted in the game bug forums. Sorry, just ignore this thread.
Hi, maybe there is a topic like this one already but I tried searching for one and could not find any.
I can’t run the game. I keep getting this message:

I have not been playing the game for several months and updated it yesterday and tried it just real quick earlier today. But now when I tried to run it I kept getting error message.
First, I tried to restart the computer, but the error still happened. So I thought it might make a difference if I turned the computer off completely, but the error still occurs.
Does anyone know what to do?
I don’t understand why you want the level scaling removed from the game. Even scaled down, the mobs are easy as hell to defeat (I mean if you visit a low level area with a scaled down character). (To me) It’s basically a hack n slash game outside the dungeons.
Fabulous? You call that fabulous!? She looks like a prostitute!
I do not mind the asura. Think they are cute. I play a female elementalist.
The charrs are ok but they are a little too big which makes them seem to move slowly, especially since they are moving on all fours. Plus, most armor look bad on them.
The norns have a really cool background (with the viking theme and all) but they are just way too big for my taste. Looks hillarious when they “run” around. And it’s a cheap excuse for a race aswell. Could have just been a bigger subrace of humans, instead (and at the same time they should have been smaller in stature).
Sylvari have the same problem with armour. Most normal armor looks bad on them and I don’t know why, but I just seem to find sylvari a boring. Feels like I am playing a living sallad too…
I love watching how charr run on four feet. It looks lovely.
Yes, nothing wrong with the animation. It’s just that it looks silly when it’s so sloooow. Running on all fours would be alot quicker then running on two legs, so charr should naturally run much faster…but then it wouldn’t be fair to the other two legged races, gameplay wise!
One more thing. The normal quests in this game are already too easy. Sometimes it feels like I am playing a hack n slash game. Removing the level scaling would make it even easier. Plus, leveling scaling also makes the game feel more “realistic” since all mobs put up a fight, no matter the level.
Level scaling should never be used in games….EVER. It takes away from the feeling of exhilaration of becoming more powerful and being able to actually SEE THE DIFFERENCE when go to lower levels. Level scaling should at the very least be optional in the game and better yet eliminated altogether. When level scaling exists in a game it makes gaining levels irrelevant.
You think it’s that fun to go to a low level area and swing around and kill everything you see? To me, that is really, really boring. I think level scaling is one of the best things GW2 has to offer. And the level scaling is still not enough to make the low level areas feel like a breeze. You can just press random buttons on your keyboard and you still survive…maybe an exaggeration but it is alot easier then in the high level areas.

Yes, they run very weird. Like they are skiing or something. But alot of run animations in this game are weird looking, like they charr for example…or the norn. That’s what happens when you have to have the same running speed for different sizes I guess…
The norn females could be a little broader/bigger, yes. But the human female bodies are more important to fix…
I am usually doing WvW and I think the small races have a distinct advantage, especially in the middle of a zerg. In a sea of toons, you notice Charrs and the Norns where as the little mice goes mostly unnoticed. When playing a large character, it is ridiculous to have the same stats as the puny races, and also a disadvantage due to your large size.
Good points.
All races shouldn’t have all professions/classes either, like they had in WoW.
But maybe they changed that for a reason… :P
Captain Charrmandre reporting for duty.
Haha, nice one Sean!
I think it looks cool!
I realize by looking at this charts that I have exaggerated the charrs height in my head for some reason. They are not that much taller then humans.
Don’t forget that the linked tables all seem to show Charr is in their normal, hunched posture. When a Charr stands up straight (which they will do in several of their animations, so we know they can), the Charr are several inches taller.
Right, yes I realized that afterwards aswell and I still think it wouldn’t hurt if they were a little shorter/smaller though.
Everybody are good! No one’s bad!
I like the Norns but I think they are a little too tall. I would have liked if the Norns just had been some underrace to humans who were a little bigger or bigger then them. I think they went too far with the size of them. They don’t fit in the lore, I think.
I agree with everything you wrote. I have been having the EXACT same feeling with events and rewards. Why bother doing it from the start when you will end up having gold reward just by participating the last 2 minutes. Makes me angry and also make’s me not want to do events. What’s the purpose in having ranks if everyone get’s the highest rank all the time?
Anet could add an even higher rank for those that have been contributed alot to the event (been with it from the start, never died, did most damage, did pre-events etc.)
And last this one: http://i.imgur.com/kIo9z.jpg
I think 6ft3 is kinda off for the first link by the way. Max height for a human is probably 6ft7 (2 meters) and lowest 5’3 (1.60 meters) as shown in the second link I posted (which to me is the accurate one).
I realize by looking at this charts that I have exaggerated the charrs height in my head for some reason. They are not that much taller then humans. But then we have the build of the humans…they are somewhat slim (too slim) and they have the same proportions even if they are 6ft7 or 5ft3 but I guess it’s because it’s hard to match the armour with different builds. On the taller options it matches but with average and short it looks weird. Guess I am very sensitive with these kind of things…
http://i.imgur.com/kIo9z.jpg and according to this picture both female and male have the same max height. Also a little strange since women tend to be around 5 inches (12-13 cms) shorter then males. But that’s going off topic :P
sorry, Guild Wars insider.
Don’t know how accurate they are…
Here is another one:
I found this on Guild Wars 2 Insider…

I actually really don’t like the 2 legged animation, it looks really clumsy.
However the four legged running animation is awesome and elegant, well on my leopard like female charr. I reckon the four legged animation should be default.
:)
Nothing wrong with the animation. It’s just that it seems to go in slow motion.
2. Scaling
Bare with me for just a moment. Say you wanted to get into better shape. You started lifting weights one day and found that you could lift a 40lbs weight 8 times but no more. You trained and you trained nearly every day, but as your body became stronger, the weights became heavier. Stronger you became, 60lbs 8 times, 80lbs 8 times, 100lbs 8 times. However you could never go back to your starting 40lbs. You could never see how much you have grow, advanced, and achieved. You were stuck just lifting a weight 8 times. Guild Wars can feel alot like this. You can get to the highest level with some of the highest level gear, but if you go back to a level 40 area, you better be careful because it is just as hard, you haven’t grown, you haven’t advanced, you haven’t achieved. While yes you don’t want people breezing through content, it can also feel good to be able to go back to an area you previously had difficulty with and see how much your character has grown since then.

I actually don’t understand what you are talking about. When you get back to a lv 1-25 area, it’s alot easier then when you leveled up there. At later levels the difference in challenge is not that big anymore but it’s still a noticable difference. So that means you improve all the time. Just not as much as you do in the beginning, which is kind of the same with lifting weights. It’s not like you increase your bench press record 10 fold what you could lift when you tried the first time.
The level scaling is, if not the best then one of the best things about GW2. It’s truly great!
Good points, that’s one or two excuses for making them as big as they are.
I just think that it looks kind of funny in general, them being this big…with or without some made-up reasons fo humans being able to stand a chance against them in battle.
“This assumes that Charrs don’t uses tools or brains.” Exactly. That’s what I was trying to say. The charrs are too good. They are equally as smart or smarter and much bigger.
But my point with this thread was that I thought they made them a little too big.
And that’s what I don’t like about the norns aswell. The norn and the charr are too big to fit with the other three races. The norn could just have been an bigger under race to humans and the charr could have been made smaller to better fit with the other races. Anet could have added another different race instead, like the skritt.
But I guess that doesn’t fit with the lore of GW1…
Level scaling is brilliant.
Nah, it just make item hunting more tedious.
I wish I could 1 shot stuff in maps where I’ve already been, but this never EVER happen in GW2. I will never be able to kite a mob and then do some powerful move killing them all at once. I miss being abble to do that once in a while, specially when I’m hunting items for crafting. I never feel that my character is getting any stronger, with all this scripts " balancing" things around. I agree with TC, the time you waste grinding should give you any sense of reward. Of course Traits make it easier but not easy enough to rush into things. You’ll just certainly survive, but that’s not always enough imo. When you know you’ll be hunting something specific for hours, overpower can be handy (and harmless). Traits and skills only won’t do that, I always waste a lot of time in the most weaker minion and freaking cooldowns make it 10 times worst.
Where’s the fun in 1 shoting your enemies? Might aswell just hand you over a box of items.
Level scaling gives the game an adventureous feeling. Isn’t that why you are playing? And going back to like lv 1-30 areas and doing quests feels likes childsplay. The mobs die much quicker then in the higher levels
Level scaling is brilliant.
Hmm, never thought of it much other then the fact that I find it annoying when my asura female elementalist casts spells and keeps screaming “Aaaaarggh” “Aaaaarggh” “Aaaaarghh” etc. until you go nuts.
But no, never thought of it when I have been playing with my human engineer or my human guardian. And I think I (or my brain) filter the other players audio/voices without thinking about it…
I don’t have any spots left to create a character, otherwise I could have given it a try aswell.
Well, at least 2 slots would be nice. Just small slots above the skill bar
I think there is one asian face among the female faces. Pick that one and start making personal changes!
Same problem with Norns really. They seem to be running in slow-mo at times.
Yes, that’s the problem with the different sizes of the races. I was stupid enough to pick the second tallest option on my norn warrior and he runs like he is constipated
But tbh his running speed is more realistic in the long run.
Anyone but me who finds the human male running style a little weird? Looks like he is out skiing without skies…
The animation itself is great, but since charr are so big they appear to run way too slow for their size. Thats the only thing that bugs me about it.
Yes, they run on all fours at the same speed as a human jogging?
Make the regular quests harder instead. Right now they are a little too easy and it get’s so repetitious (spelling?) and boring after a while. The environment and the storyline works fine though.
And don’t change the dungeons. It’s a great thing they are challenging! Makes it feel rewarding just doing them, no matter what you get.
In short: I want to think when I am playing, not just mindlessly pressing 1,2,3.
“So yes, give male characters the cheek sliders and chin sliders. But also give female characters more scarred and aged faces—the fact that all the females look like teenaged supermodels is also a double standard.” The males are all babyfaced aswell. Or there are too much babyfaces at least.
Haha :P Too bad you can’t make a character with those proportions…an engineer maybe XD
Yeah, but I made your two “average guys” to one…(and that’s not average to me, way too much muscle for being average)
Oh, smart of you to make a tab of the NPC conversations. Thanks for the tip Fjandi!
There are like 6 different male body types, right?
“Normal” (far, upper left one), “Chubby waist” (far, lower left one), “Skinny” (left, upper one), “Skinny, well defined” (left, lower one), “Well trained guy with or without chest hair” (right, upper and lower one) and “Arnold” (the one to the far right)
Isn’t that just the “Well trained guy without chest hair”?
“Male norns look rediculous it is true. they made them resemble the hulk…yet the women look like big humans. Either the females need to be changed, or the males need to be made more human in ratio.” Well, I agree completely. They should seriously redesign the norn males. They look so stupid!
In terms of taking down separatist propoganda—that propoganda states that the charr are monsters, and that they should be slaughtered without mercy. I don’t see anything wrong with removing propoganda meant to incite racial warfare….
As for murdering separatists in Ebonhawke, you just get them to come out of their houses. It’s THEY who attack you first.
Yeah, but it’s still a little harsh. Maybe I remember wrong but I think Anet changed alot of quests where you killed people before to just make them unconscious or hurting them. I think it should be the same with that separatist quest tbh. I don’t have a problem with killing monsters and animals in the same way as I have killing humans (or other intelligent races, even if they don’t exist IRL).
I think it should only be possible to use asuran gates (or some main waypoints) to switch maps. It takes away alot of the adventurous feeling teleporting everywhere…
They could take away some waypoints in each map and then implement mounts instead. It’s a bit silly with all these waypoints, really…
