Runes of the Pack or Strength ? Hmmm, Im going to check that out. Thank you so much Stand The Wall !
ooh, and another thing, newly added, I have a rifle which I use to switch out for ranged situations and I have Sup Sig of Renewal and Sup Sig of Bursting on it and the entire combo seems to work wonders !
I’ve done some experimenting with my Warrior and found that my Great Sword provides better results with a Sup Sig of Fire coupled with a Sup Sig of Energy than a Sup Sig of Fire coupled with a Sup Sig of Battle. (Energy > Battle for my style)
I’m going to do more experimenting but wanted to ask the audience if they had a particular combination that works well for them ? I always like to sample the wealth of expertise when making game decisions.
My Stats in brief are, Strength 6 II, IX, XIII /Arms 4 IV, VIII / Discipline 4 II VII and I use the healing sig, Fear me (for PvP only) Balanced Stance, Endure Pain and Sig of Rage as utilities. I have Berserker armor with 6 Sup Runes of the Traveler. I may change those runes.
Thanks !
and to clarify, by instant reset, I am not talking within a single match to unfairly have my skills reset. I’m talking about when the match is over, win or lose, then the reset would allow you to move on more quickly. I’m pretty sure most of you understood my meaning.
Thanks Again.
I like to test my weapons by using two, keeping all elements identical except one and timing how long it takes me to beat a given adversary. For this, in the Fallen Halls of Glory where you can go one on one against every profession, it would be cool to have two options.
One would be an instant reset on your skills so you don’t have to wait 2 minutes for your Elite Skill to cooldown. Also an in-game stop watch would also be handy. While you are at it , maybe an in-game chime or gong ?
Thanks
Vol, im not even a computer programmer but I could write code in BASIC to eliminate the problem you speak of.
I would like to see Commanders be given the opportunity to submit the names of people under their direction who have fought selflessly and bravely to the extent where they could nominate those members for MEDALS in WvW and other forms of PvP.
To keep the system fair and to prevent abuse, a system could be implemented where other players nominate the players they see and if a quota (3 nominations by separate Guild members ?) were obtained the medal would be awarded. Other safety measures could be put into place so as to remove as much of the political abuse as possible. It could be done and would make WvW and PvP freaking awesome.
These MEDALS could fill the spectrum of actual Real World Medals such as the Bronze Star, the Silver Star to the Medal of Honor and commensurate benefits would be available to the recipient of such an award. I would even like to see an automatic Commander medal be given to a nominee for winning a Medal of Honor.
I think this would give WvW, PvP and SPvP a lot more prestige and I don’t know about anyone else, it would make me play harder and give a more substantial meaning to winning in a battle.
I have some good ideas, one in particular, that could make Guild Wars a FORTUNE if implemented properly. The technology is already a reality and I am surprised it hasn’t already been featured by Blizzard or other game makers.
I already have a full time job and love it but I am approaching retirement age and I was wondering how I would spend my golden years. Probably playing Guild Wars III, IV and so on with my Grandchildren.
How does Arena Net feel about the Senior Citizen Population, the largest growing demographic in the United States today ?
I’ve done way more than enough for Arena Net so that I may be able to demand certain aesthetics for my weapons.
LOL, what have you done for them? Do you work for ArenaNet? Have you bought a bunch of stock in the company? If you really have earned the right to make demands, why do you have to resort to posting suggestions on the forums like everyone else? Just bring it up with Colin at the next board meeting!
No and Yes
Sorry Guys/Gals
My Bad. It was the Graphics Settings on my card that made the difference. I’ll make a long story endless.
I was standing around and noticed that everyone looked identical. They all had this hideous gray colored armor on and with a hood to match. Honest to Goodness !
I thought I was in some episode of the Body Snatchers and that all of sudden if I went to sleep I would wake up and look just like everyone else. I asked someone about this and they said to check my graphics settings and ….low and behold….the answer to the Body Snatcher AND Sword Pommel conundrum. The Eternity Sword Pommel looks just fine.
My apologies.
Wyrden:
If you get one, you will notice what I mean. You will spend considerable amounts of time marveling every detail and trust me on this, the Pommel is the Achilles Heal of the Eternity. I have talked with other players who have one and we all agree that this could and should be fixed in an upcoming upgrade. You just don’t spend the kind of blood sweat and tears to obtain a weapon like this which isn’t virtually perfect in every regard. I need to reiterate that by and large the Sword surpasses all of my expectations on every other element.
It may be sort of a nitpicky thing, but I’ve done way more than enough for Arena Net so that I may be able to demand certain aesthetics for my weapons. The Pommel on the Eternity has two versions, one day and one night. The night time version is ok, mediocre but acceptable. The daytime version looks like some kid who discovered the Microsoft Paint program for the first time and just added generic folds of rainbows. It has a crystalline Pommel interlaced with cheap rainbow folds of color. It looks atrocious.
There is no depth, no life, no imagination to the graphic. It literally leaves me feeling as though I own a cheap knock-off of of the entire Bifrost or Dreamer design. I would take a page from the Bifrost code and perhaps borrow a little of that Dreamer magic and add it to the most prestigious Great Sword in the game.
BTW, everything else about the Eternity is breath taking. :-)
wow, in the back of my head I sort of knew that would not be the right verb to use. Let’s see, how about having my Owl “swoop in and perch” on my arm ? Better ?
That would be a wonderful boon to Rangers. I just leveled my Ranger to 80 made him a “Condi” and now I’m bored with him. Just an idle thought.
Thanks
there you go, I like Taygus’ idea the best.
and Draknar, I’m going to experiment with your idea :-)
sigh
Thanks BrotherBelial. It was at least reassuring to know that I wasn’t the only person in this dilemma and missing some technical game mechanic that others have used to get around this issue. It wouldn’t have been the first time to hear something like……“you mean you didn’t use the ‘7x’ maneuver to do the 100% World Area ?”
I have waited months now, for one particular WvW arena to open so I could access 4 Vistas and 3 Points of Interest. That’s all that separates me and 100% World Completion. This particular area (Isle of Janthir Borderlands) has the Garrison, the Keep and one Tower that are perpetually red. I check it daily and have never observed a change.
Is it possible to do one of several options I have outlined below ?
1) Incorporate an emote signal or player status that makes them non-combatant so that they could access such elements ? For example the emote, “bow” is universally accepted as a gesture for dueling. What about a different emote that emulates the “white flag” which historically has meant “surrender”.
2) Make such areas neutral for set periods of the day or week for the purpose of completing them for total world exploration.
or finally,
3) Design such installations so that they can be accessed at any time by the use of jumping puzzles and the like.
I have waited for so long that I have put off even gathering many of the other items I need to create a legendary weapon. It is a distraction that this game does not need.
Thanks
Not so perfect.
Thanks Kibazuka.
Perfect !
Thanks Yargesh !
I have all but a handful of vistas, and poi’s to do to get my World Completion. These elements are in the enemy strongholds of WvW. Am I going to have to wait until the Green Team (friendly) seizes these areas or do the servers occasionally switch them around ?
Thanks

Thanks Asstral Projections, that at least tells me that I asked in the proper place.

Thank you Inculpatus. I am not bitter or anything. Not everything is lost. I did gain a ton of WvW experience.

Sorry for the long winded whine but…I tossed out the needed ~ 375 blades JUST to make room because they were virtually useless (so I thought at the time) along with Found Belongings and other things I gathered at that event.

During the recent Invasion of Lions Arch I spent hours gathering items needed for the Ascended Spinal Backpack. I spent so much time in WvW gathering Empyreal Frags, and a ton of money on Elonian Wine and Recipes and Power Cores , Vision Crystal and Gift of Blades etc. I still have two sets of Advanced Spinal Backpack but they aren’t Tempered (Ascended). I just now surpassed the point where I can finally make the Tempered blades and I found that I tossed out >250 blades, that I needed to make the Tempered Backpack. Is there a way to recover those or am I SOL ?
thanks
Scarcely any other words incite the same amount of wonder and excitement to those of us who played Guild Wars 1 and farmed Globs of Ectoplasm. There was virtually nothing laying on the ground that looked more enticing.
Guild Wars 2 could become so much more complete if it had a similar feature. I talked it over with a few people and we all thought it best left up to the creators to choose exactly what you could use as a commensurate drop.
Ask your self, do I get the same amount of enthusiasm when I run a dungeon ? Do I get the same thrill when an Exotic weapon worth 3 gold is dropped ? Maybe, but I doubt it. I beg you, ANET, to install something of value that drops at the same rate that ectoplasms did in GW1 and I would further ask you to make them something that dropped during a routine farming episode.
I will leave it up to the readers at large to offer suggestions but some of the ones I got were, Mounts, Armor or Armor Elements…..buried treasure is what I’m talking about.
thanks
that go around doing escrow for trades when the Trading Post is down. Alternatively you could always import the old Guild Wars 1 system which would work just as well , if not better. I’m tired of waiting for the dang TP system to get fixed.
That’s good stuff Dean, and I appreciate it and WILL use it. I can , after all get by on dodging and killing the few extra Wurms that cause problems so your point is well taken. But on topic, how difficult would it be to put in a probability multiplier (in the code) so as to make the direction you travel after getting hit from behind one of those snow bombs to coincide with the more realistic physics direction ? A crude estimation of number of times I get hit from behind and subsequently fall backward(the direction that is counterinuitive) of the Wurm is 95%. Just change that multiplier that governs direction you tumble from 0.95 in the negative direction and .05 and the problem is fixed. Am I oversimplifying the issue ? I’m not a programmer so bear with me :
:if snowball hits [player] from behind then send [player] bouncing in .95 * X direction and 0.05 * -X direction.
I sense that the idea is to make it more difficult for the player to gather booty so current statistics favor Anet and not the player and thus keeping the status quo.
I hope I made sense.
Thanks
Oh I meant to mention the area I refer to is the Frostgorge Sound. I don’t know if other areas use the same physics. Dean, you may be able to dodge them all but I can not. I am fairly agile in real life and my reflexes are very sharp so I find it a bit disconcerting to be in the middle of a spitting match circle of those bad boys when you’re trying to hack down an Ancient Sapling or some Orichalcum Ore. Occasionally, if there are more than 3 their relentless attacks have kept me on the ground until I died.
The Snow Wurms that hit you from behind with their projectiles (giant snowballs ?) always seem to impart a negative force. That is, when you get hit from behind by those guys, you will generally bounce BACK towards them. This is physically unrealistic. Most of the time you should fall or be thrown in the direction the projectile hits you.
Also, I have jumped up, turned 90º in mid air and made a stride or two to the right (or left) yet their snowballs (smart bombs) seem to have radar and will hit me nonetheless. If the physics engine were attuned to be more realistic I would suffer a lot less down time when trying to farm that area. I have developed a second sense of timing when to use the V key (dodge) and can typically dodge 1 in 3 or 4 attacks. But I can not fight attacks that are going to hit me regardless. Please, fix this.
thank you Aidan.
I’ve done a little more reading and two more terms keep coming up that I bet have some relevance to these reticle changes. The terms are interrupt and preparation.
These are fundamentals that Rangers use all the time and since I am a novice they are virtually meaningless to me. I just need to use my Thief more and get a little better acquainted with him and these fairly intricate skills.
My guess is that when the reticle covers the skill , the target is “in Range” and that when my skill is in cooldown, it is designated such that it has the international sign for prohibition ( a circle with a diagonal slash through it) or a purple lightning bolt.
I still do not understand what the purple reticle means though, if I am correct about this.
When I outfit my Thief with a short bow, some of my skills have red reticles on them indicating they are ranged and subject to accuracy parameters. When I use them they will turn from red to purple. I do not know what the change in color signifies.
Also, the reticle will occasionally change and instead of being down low in the center of the skill box, to acutally covering it. I don’t understand this feature either. I’ve asked several people, Wiki’d it, Googled it and have yet to come up with a satisfactory answer. Could someone please explain ?
Thanks !
Well that is a reply I can live with. Thank you Randulf.
Has that time come yet ? There aren’t near the number of permutations allowed in GW2 as in GW1 but still, I would like to see a “Rifle Build” or a “Greatsword Build” for my warrior….and so forth.
lol, I knew using the word wristwatch would give an unwanted connotation to the idea. Ok, what about Tricorder ?
make available to each character, wrist watches that actually have timed events , like dragons and behemoths etc., and the times they are going to happen, complete with alarms to alert the wearer when and where to go. ….I’d even pay a few gems for such an item, and I realize GW2 Stuff already has this but at a clumsy screen sharing cost.
has anyone seen how the Scarlet’s Kiss fires ? Does it just fire like a regular rifle or is there some effect on the shot ? I saw some dialogue earlier that hinted at a killshot effect but wasn’t certain that it was legitimate.
Thanks !
I have a related question. Server chasing can get pricey and my Guild just informed me that they were moving to a more competitive Server (from Kaineng to Henge of Denravi). Does Anet have any plans to even out the server disparity ? To some of you who have worked hard to maker your server competitive I can appreciate your disapproval. But I have to ask….will some servers become the low rent districts and remain that way or is there some Jerrymandering in the works for the future ?

Aside from the already available mouse activated marks that evaporate in a few seconds. Marks that can be erased by the user at their own discretion.
I know they serve a purpose but with some of them, they might as well not even be there. I think WP should always be accessible. Jst M Opnn
that is beautiful and lilting when you are up that spiral on Bakestone Cavern , next to the Champ Karka (Karka Hive point of interest) ?

Oh well, it was a thought. I expected more people seeing matters with my point of view. I’m not miffed or insulted or anything. Just glad to be able to voice my opinion.
happy gaming
Its a great gold sink, why would they remove it?
List your item at a reasonable price in the first place. And its only 5% anyways.
It is great….if you are ANet. Whose side are you on btw ? The way things are going, ANet is going to nickel and dime their way into FAIL. Mark my words.
The Trading Post should let us lower our asking price without hitting us with that dang 10% fee. Otherwhise, cost prohibitive.
Personally, I’d be happy if they just made ascended gear account bound.
That would at least, be one step in the right direction.
lol, I have NEVER liked the concept of owning something that I could not sell. Even in real life. I would never buy a car I couldn’t resell. Resale value actually confers value to the merchandise. I have to ask those of you who don’t like this idea, how long have you owned your favorite soulbound item (be honest). If it were more than 6 months I am pretty sure the novelty has worn off (as it always does) and you would like to recoup a bit of cash for it to help with the next big item coming down the pike. I’m already tired of the Twilight and I don’t even have one. Remember the Kuunavang in GW1 ?
Please ! ?
I just purchased a miniature that I love so much more because I can resell him. I would love to sell things I’m tired of. I think other people would love to buy things I’m tired of at a discount rate. I know you’re in it to make money but PLEASE.
