I really don’t understand what the big deal is? They’re giving us more game to play, what’s wrong with that? If you hate progressing your character then why don’t you just sit at level 1?
You people complain about anything. If Anet bumped max level up to 85, you’d complain then too about “hey you said no grind!” Seriously they’re giving us new content, totally for free, and you complain? What the hell is wrong with you.
There are still a ton of dialog personality-choices after level 20, they are all scattered throughout the game, you just need to talk to NPCs. I talk to everybody I run into, some of them even trigger DEs on the other-side of the map. Also talk to the NPCs in your personal-story, before AND after doing anything, alot of times they will have the personality-choice dialog.
Alot of people think reading is hard so they don’t read anything and they end up missing it all.
Now what do all these choices actually do? I haven’t any idea… but they are there, and hopefully Anet does something with them at some point..
Adding more skills to weapons and allowing us to choose which ones to use for the 1-5 buttons would go an enormously long way in making the combat more engaging… I’ve now tried every class, and every class gets the same problem – the combat gets very boring after a while because it’s so simplistic. It’s a tremendous shame too because so much thought went into most other areas of the game, but combat was really streamlined to it’s own detriment..
hmm… do you have OCD? Why don’t you just mail them your money? I’m sure they wouldn’t say no… or would that not rectify the situation because Anet doesn’t officially call you mailing them money every month a “subscription”?
Cool I didn’t know they started doing that. But I hope they also do it for players/guilds! There’s so much they could do with this, I’ve seen other games show these stats and it always creates a highly competitive atmosphere at the top of every ladder, which gives you something to work for..
We have many great systems in-game for competition, yet there’s nearly zero recognition factor for winning, and without that the purpose for participating goes out the window for many people.
You could display the top 100 PvP players on each server. And you don’t just have to list them by kills, have a separate list for battles won, a list for damage done, etc… the more lists you have, the more players will compete to chart themselves on one of them.
You already use this exact principle for endgame (players play to acquire new “skins” to show off), so an extension of providing individual and server recognition for PvP seems to fit well within that foundation. After all, this is what motivates players to play, as many of us are wired to compete.
And the best part of all is – you guys should already have most of these stats in your database. All you’d need to do is make some outward facing interface (i.e. a webpage, or in-game component) where players can see their rankings. I think this would really help keep people playing for much longer, I know it would for me.
This is an area where WoW really shined, having “Server Firsts” for everything challenging in-game, and this extended from individuals to guilds.
Love the game guys! And I admire your passion, you’re probably the only game developer I’d work for (I’d apply if I lived in Seattle… alas..). Have a fantastic day!

The road of excess leads to the palace of wisdom. Blake, William.
That’s all you really need to know. That and Don’t dream it, be it.
Elementalists are NOT overly-complicated, if anything they need more depth. I chose Elementalist only after getting bored with the overly simple combat of Warrior/Ranger/Thief… Elementalist so far is much better but could still use additional weapons… But absolutely nobody needs less weapons, I don’t know how anybody could argue that…
There’s virtually no real competition in this game between players. It would be great if we could see our ranks in PvP for instance. Right now we don’t even know server rankings, and there’s not much incentive to cooperate and win. There’s also no real sense of character progression. You have all the skills you’re going to use by level 25 or so.
No because they will have found the cause for that particular glitch and fixed it so it wouldn’t happen again. Also, even though you probably won’t be getting back any of that money, hopefully they would have implemented some secondary logging functionality so that in similar future situations they might return money to you.
The best you can do really is to avoid leaving large sums of money with the auctioneer.
Another suggestion to Arenanet:
could you please have exclusive crafting recipes and pets with a small chance of dropping from mobs or bosses in dungeons, it gives people something to hope for everytime they run the dungeon other that just that 1 token which is a known reward and consequently not surprising. You need the element that “you may get something extra that you can’t get anywhere else” when running these things over and over…
also it would do your economy well if they weren’t bind on pickup, so you could sell them on the Trading Post… it’s hard-to-get items like these that give players with alot of money something to purchase… and give other players who run dungeons something to strive for so they don’t become irrelevant after they get the recipe/pet for themselves…
WoW has this feature and its PvE has been successful due to this surprise element (among others obviously). Also the boss-fights in WoW are among the best I’ve seen in any MMO and very much worth looking at for inspiration – they essentially hold the standard for raid bosses in my opinion…
Edit: Special mats needed to craft top items is another one that would add value to running dungeons over and over… And rewards that have a “chance” of showing up are always better than guaranteed rewards because the incentive for them is stronger – people love to be pleasantly surprised! And you won’t flood the economy…

I love the game and the attention to detail, but adding progression to the combat and skills would vastly improve it. The problem I see is with so few skills the combat gets very repetitive and there ceases to be much to look forward to once you unlock your main skills (which happens early on).
This could be resolved by giving each weapon 10 or so attacks, and let us customize our 1-5 bar with these attacks as we unlock them, having one unlock every few levels or so. That would give us a reason to play with more than 2 weapons, and would give us alot more to experiment with (because face it, when 1-5 is static there are only so many combinations you can do… at the moment, once you figure out the correct rotation that’s it forever… it gets stale…)
here there bugs even several weeks old. For example skill point in plains of ashford on aurora glade it is stuck for 3 days now.
several weeks != 3 days…
if you want to see bugs fixed faster maybe you should apply for job. I’m sure they could use the help right now.
It would be cool if the Orr monsters dropped some token of some sort… or scalps or something, that you could turn in… then it would make sense that they are everywhere and give you incentive to kill them rather than run through them all the time…
ANet has stated that world PvP goes against everything that they want the world to be while out questing.
This will never happen.
What, do you know for a fact that these guys never change their mind? Nevermind that it sounds inhuman… what exactly do you have against the idea if PvP/PvE servers were involved?
I don’t have anything against the idea.
ANet does not want world PvP in the game. The game was DESIGNED around the fact that there is not and never will be world PvP in the game.
They do not want world PvP. World PvP will never happen.
But why not? How can you put such an amazing world PvP system into the game yet keep it totally sequestered? That’s something I didn’t understand, the game seems to be very PvP oriented, and the PvP obviously has alot of thought behind it, so to say that there will never be world PvP doesn’t seem in-line with their philosophy of making great PvP…
Plus didn’t they say that guilds declaring war on eachother will be in someday? Doesn’t that imply world PvP (atleast guild PvP)? Not sure how else they could have us go to war…

sorry you think it is funny for me to state actual facts.
I simply stated what Anet has already said.
They will NEVER do this.
Yes there will be changes made, but this one will never happen.
Also yes I know through long research, including most info released from Anet as well as interviews of Anet employees, that you are in a minority.
You should do the same next time you have an idea for any game.
Research… think on it… research some more …. then post your suggestion.
Why would anyone need to research when we have you!
I’m not sure what your “research” consists of exactly. If Anet hasn’t surveyed every player and asked them whether or not they like this idea, it seems funny you state with such certainty that nobody would, and you also state Anet will never do this. Are you in charge of them or something? Do you call all the shots? Just because they didn’t do it for the original game doesn’t mean they would never consider doing it for a future expansion.
And if this idea came up previously, obviously other people have thought it before, which doesn’t make it seem so minor as you seem to want to believe…
Speculation aside (because that’s all your ‘certainties’ really are, unless you are in charge of Anet but somehow I don’t think you are), what exactly do you have against it? The potential for griefing that you bring up in your first post is obviated by having PvP and PvE servers, all you’d get would be an increase in PvE dynamic events, which you seem to enjoy anyway…
Fanboys gonna be fan boys. trolls gonna be trolls.
Yes server transfer away from my guild and friends. great idea kitten.
Your talking out of your kitten. Who the kitten is gonna complain about seperating pvp from pve rewards. Wow.
The OP is so dumb i cant even justify answering that. Obvious troll Is obvious.
Just tell me one thing. Whats ur problem with making a PvP explor title and a PvE?
Two reasons: First of all, because 100% “exploration” means you explored 100% of the game. That means the whole game, not just the parts where you didn’t have to worry about facing other players. I’m fine with that, and I’d rather the developers focus on adding other things I’m interested in than cater to players who don’t even care for half the game’s contents.
Secondly, most of the WvW locations are soloable, just wander up there and get them. There are only a few castle locations you can’t get, and I don’t necessarily agree with those (I think Explorer should be solo-able and you should be able to go up to the gate and it will award you), but it does give you something to look forward to in-game rather than obtain everything not even 1 month after release. Have faith: you will get them.
Also, don’t take things so personally. Life is hard enough, namecalling and getting all angry over what some stranger says about a videogame isn’t the right thing to prioritize your emotional focus on.
1. Why is Pve Content mixed with PvP.
Because it’s fun…
2.Why is my legendary tied to a gametype i dont like to play.
Because the game wasn’t built centered around you. If you don’t want to get 100%, then don’t do it!
3. What may be fun for some is a bore to others. Cheers to you if you love wvw and wanna sit in there and hope that castle gets taken so u can get a poi or vista. But forcing a pve player into pvp seems like bad design. I get they wanna fill their wvw games. But dont force me into a gametype i dislike. And then tie a major piece of acquiring my legendary to it. Its RnG.
This will always be the case no matter what the developers do, people will always complain. Some will love it, some will hate it. All the more reason why the devs should make the game they want. If you want a game to be made with some particular player-type in mind, why don’t you go make it yourself.
4. The awful que times. Enough said.
Server transfer. Enough said.
Thx for reading.
Yer welcome.
Frustrated with how easy it is for players to train mobs on other players.

You could always just run and get them stuck on somebody else, right? Or you could just kill them, it takes what, like 30 seconds?
This was explained more then a year ago. They will NEVER have this happen in GW2
We are all races at peace with each other (even if it is for convenience)
Our main target is the dragons; not each other. PvP is already available to everyone in sPvP and WvW. Be happy with that.
This was one of the main selling points for myself when I decided to get this game. No spoilers running around ruining my experience in the game.
I am most likely never to even play PvP.
I have no desire to be bothered with having to look out for my back.
This game is my way of relaxing and escaping RL.
A majority of those playing are doing so due to this very fact.
Anet will not loss most of it players just to satisfy this request, which as I stated at the beginning of this reply was already addressed by Anet a long time ago.SIMPLY: NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!
Sorry if this is a disappointment to you, but you are in the minority on this, by a long shot. You can always go find a game that is more to your liking.
This is the first game in over a decade that is actually geared for players like myself. Due to this I will continue to support it.
This is a funny post. It’s just an idea, whether you think it’s a good one or not is your opinion, but saying stuff like I should leave the game, and that you somehow know that only a strict minority of players would like this idea is funny. I’m happy that you finally found a game that you enjoy, but that doesn’t mean it’s gonna remain static forever – updates will come, changes to the gameworld will happen. I certainly wouldn’t want to be Anet when they make a change you disagree with.
Please let us customize buttons 1-5… give each weapon around 8 or 10 attacks, and let us select which to use for buttons 1-5, similar to how we choose skills for 6-10… That would make combat ALOT more dynamic and interesting as we would continually be searching for how to max our dps against different types of enemies/situations… giving us a static 1-5 means we have nothing to do once we figure out how to maximize dps since nothing can ever change…
Kind of – I’m asking for the opportunity to play as an evil character, because right now everyone plays a good character no matter what race/profession they roll. It would add alot more dynamics to PvP also that WvW doesn’t encompass. And also I love WvW, more of it would be cool instead of having it be separated from the rest of the gameworld. There could still be PvE servers where players can’t attack eachother but maybe can still conduct PvE dynamic events against eachother.
I don’t know all the details, that’s for them to decide, I just think joining the evil side would be awesome.
(edited by MistaMike.7356)
Each race seems to have an evil racial enemy… I think it would be awesome if we could join them. So if you play Sylvari, you might opt to join the Nightmare… if you play human you could join the bandits, Norn -> Sons of Svanir, etc…
This would allow for world PvP, it would also put human players on both sides of dynamic events, i.e. if you are Inquest you could lead an inquest invasion against some Asuran outpost, which would turn into a Dynamic Event for both you and them…
A personal story would have to be made for each but considering how well the evil factions are fleshed out there is certainly enough available lore to do it.
Anyway I think this would be extremely cool for an expansion or something… One of the concerns I have about expansions is what will be done with the personal story… if there’s a new world boss it’s going to render alot of the dialog about Zhaitan obsolete, however this idea and the personal stories for the evil side could all still revolve around Zhaitan… What do you think?
Joining WvW to do the jumping puzzle is a bit like going to a rollercoaster park to ride the carousel…
I mean there are tons of jumping puzzles in the game where you won’t get ganked… why take up a place in queue for a PvP zone when you don’t want to PvP? You’re taking the place of someone who would help your team.
Just want to voice support for the thread.
If Anet reads this, the description where the OP delves into how a dragon fight should be, implementing something like that would make this game the new industry standard. No other MMO has enemies where their attacks are continually calculated based on the player’s movement, amount of DPS, etc. I think it’s definitely worth looking into, it would make the game much better.
There needs to be more events added to the middle of the game. Playing through I noticed there were a ton of events in the starting areas, and it really thins out as you approach the mid-level areas (30+)… and then unfortunately when some of those mid-level events are bugged it’s really noticeable..
I’m sure they will add to the game but I hope they don’t just focus on endgame – the mid-levels could use some more too! The same attention paid to the starting zones should carry through to the rest of the regions, in my opinion.
Unfortunately games are the most complex software you can create – this stuff happens all the time. I have faith though that Anet is racing to fix everything. They should be able to give you whatever items you missed out on OP, just make sure you write them a note to let them know about it. Also make sure you report all bugs you encounter, the squeaky wheel gets the grease!
WoW has some very interesting PVE bosses which you could look at for inspiration.
Outdoor bosses where the strategy for killing them isn’t spelled out (so that players would have to trial and error how to kill them) would go a long long way to adding the level of “raid-boss depth” that players of WoW are used to.
