Balanced match is a bit of a stretch. The points are certainly balanced, but you must understand that we have the outmanned buff on 3 out of 4 maps during primetime.
We are more then happy to fight any guild, but with this taken into consideration, we often find ourselves fighting 3 or even 4 guilds at once which always ends one way.
Points are even, but the match isn’kittens even because we are spreading our forces, not across different maps, but different timezones.

I’ve said ot before, there are some guilds on GH that I really like, but generally GH playes to defensively for my taste. Upgrade, siege up and bunker down is a very common. Even when fighting against a force that outmans us, they usually turn to a tower or keep and bunker down.
This is my experience, and it may be a gross misrepresentation.

I must say I like any system that breaks up the monotomy. We would like to fight as many guilds as possible without having to transfer server. I would happily transfer down to lower tiers and escape the queue if I new I was going to be fighting other guilds of all tiers. We did transfer down, but not without hessitation. We were afraid there would be no opposition.
I still would like a league though, I don’t care if our tiny server gets nightcapped to death by Vizunah as long as I get to fight LNM and WL.
People need to get over the fact that sometimes you face a better opponent and lose. Balanced is well and all, but it is boring and stagnant. Servers get stuck and don’t progress. You need to get beaten badly to improve and come back better.

Thanks for a great matchup. I think we all had to puch to the limit to keep it this close, it is to bad it ended the way it did.
You have to understand our frustration with the game and Anet when its this close and we can’t even enter the borderlands. This will, no doubt, reduce your victory to something of a fail on Anet’s part. Hopefully there will be a new week for us to test who’s the strongest without mass DC’s.
As for what server got the “worst” DC’s, that’s hard to tell. All I can say is that our zone of death was spawn camp, garrison and Bay in RoS. Kinda hard to work around. We’ve been avoiding our own Bay for 3 days.

My anger is not directed to GH at all, but to Anet for failing and screwing over WvW every single time they implement a patch. To have such a great match end with kicking the opposing teams out of the match is just…
This is, by far, worse then the AC problem.
See you on the battlefield when the game is working again.

Ok, last night we intentionally let a FURY thief into our recently captured Bay to see if he could actually solo the keep lord. We followed it with great interrest. He let us know via whisper it was not possible and we all felt some sympathy with him. We hoped he would manage it.
We have friends on all sides and we talk to eachother and have fun! Not everything is a grand conspiring alliance against GH. Remove tin-foil har please.

Some of us have been on GH and seen their/your gameplay, but I think we can all agree that the current GH is not whakitten used to be. For the better!
I cannot give enough credit to PRXM, you guys have come so far, so fast. Keep it up guys!
@Genotix. I think the definition of a “fact” is that you can actually confirm it.
The bugs have been mighty annoying, we crashed every time we logged into EB spawn, we couldn’t enter Dz borderland nor get anywhere close to our own Bay.
Gunnar’s Hold have pulled an amazing week. The blobs in prime are getting to the point where the game lags out, but late prime we got some great fights (especially against Hot and FURY).
All in all, its been an alright week.

We got the call that 25 GH + 9 golems attacked Klovan. Imagine our surprise when we arrived, only to find 9 empty golems parked outside the gate.
It was funny, in a bizarre way. Still bullkitten though, Anet needs to fix this DC issue fast.
That tower should have been GH’s.

Roaming group: 3-5
Small group: 5-10
Group: 15-25
Large group: 25-40

Blob: Entire server
Zerg: The group you lost to, regardless of size.

I would like to give a shout out to FURY, PRXM and Hot. The only guilds I see consistently run alone, the rest have just been one massive blobfest so far. Can’t really say anything about our server since I’m not playing against us. It was fun when we encountered FURY outside of SM last night. FURY enganges and the rest of GH tries to keep up and flock to them. I was watching from the top of the hill, two guilds fighting each other and two headless chicken zergs, clueless to the dynamic of the fight.
Cry Havoc, stop crying and start causing some havoc!
We also now Tyb have numbers to run as a guild!

Preacher, I do respect you, really, but stop it right there. We fought Viz for months, pulling 16 hour shifts, all nighters, got up at 4 am to counter their morning zerg. Seven days a week we did this, for months. The competative spirit kinda dies after you realize you get absolutely nothing out of it except a divorce or bad grades. That’s why people play for fun fights.
Now its all about defending, and some like the realism and the dedication. But where are all those dedicated people that want to sit on an AC, just waiting for the enemy to show up? Not on my server at least. Stuff still flips, for the same reasons as before. No one is there to defend it.

It’s the AC effect. No one wants to play against your t3 towers because the effort is not worth the reward, hence less people even bother logging into WvW making it an even greater project. See the spiral here?
WvW is dying and I’m hoping Anet will at least make an effort to recussitate it.

I see our numbers drop every day. People are moving away and we have zero queues on any map at any given time.
All that is left to do now is solo roam, since our guild group can’t really accomplish anything. We don’t want our members to spend 3 hours of their time watching others play with siege.
I must admit that I don’t know a whole lot about war history, but I don’t care, this is boring. If realistic means whatver this is, I rather do without. I assume this is the approach Anet wants to take though, since no “fix” has come yet.

Or, you know, they could remove player’s ability to damage gates. That would require rams and give defenders some time to get there.
We don’t mind keeps/towers taking longer to crack, it was a bit fast. But we want to fight defenders, not scrubs on ACs.

PS: Karma train? Seriously. They were popular right after launch.

The fact that it’s all about trebs to take anything is just one of the many issues. The major issue is the mentality this AC patch has brought. Everyone lurks around their own towers, within the safe protection of their ACs. If, however, they dare to venture out, it’s in a massive zerg. In any large and somewhat challanging openfield battle, one side will usually drop one or two superior ACs down and then win.
It’s lame as hell.

You could treb several places before the patch. I think the main problem is thta there used to be options.
You could:
-Use siege
-Bring an overwhelming force
-Have a small coordinated group beating on the gate
-Zerg rush a badly defended objective
-Ninja cap

The new AC’s has reduced these option to two. Use siege for hours, or rush an undefended obejective. You can effectively leave one person in each of the northen side towers and 5 in garri, and with the help of some sup arrowcarts defend the entire northern area.
As Zoel said, SOME may like to siege for a long time, I don’t. Now I must. Not only because it’s the only way to take an objective, but because EVERYONE is hiding, hugging their arrowcarts, inside towers.

I come from a WvW guild and we want a lot of things. Power or shiny stuff ain’t one of them though.
Make us able to spend our Wexp to claim settlements and cities, as in GW 1, give us a king of the hill at center island in borderlands, let it be known in writing who owns a keep. Leaderboards that show dolly’s escorted, kills/deaths, most points scored, both personal and guild-wide. Show us the statistics of the day, week, month.
We want bragging rights!

Getting closer to realism doesn’t necessitate absolute realism.

But it also doesn’t say what step toward realism is more valid than another. So basically you still have nothing. Realism has no place in this argument whatsoever.

Really? So you’re saying that getting hit by a greatsword should heal you could be a “valid step” toward realism? Geez, I wonder why people want arrow carts to fire projectiles not just an AoE. Or maybe how arrow carts shouldn’t damage flame rams so much as large wooden logs don’t realistically get hurt by arrows.

You might wanna look up guardian mace skills.
In all honesty, I don’t care at all about realism as long as it fits the game. I want a good and balanced competative game, not reality.
Chess does not reflect reality in anyway, but is entertaining (for some) because its an extremely balanced game with different strategies and methods of approach. Now what if you introduced a “tank” pice that could just whipe the board clean. Would that be fun?

We have taken plenty of keeps, just not defended ones. It’s all about rushing an undefended keep with such a massive zone blob that the defenders don’t have time to respond. If so much as 10 defenders manages to get inside with a few superior carts, you may as well just abandon the whole thing.
The amount of supplies needed to construct all the siege you need to take a keep prevents the zone from splitting up and hitting multiple objectives at once. The defenders have such an advantage that they can easily split their force and defend all 3 keeps at once.

This is so dumb it’s unreal…

The simplest way to discourage the zerg is to remove the ability to revive dead players. When you face a massive zerg with your guild group, you can only kill so many in one push. The problem is the rest of the zerg can ress everyone up within seconds.

Just make dead players stay dead and everything should be fine.

Most of our RoS guilds can run half-way across the map, ignoring all objectives, just to get a good fight against another guild.
Who cares what people do with their accounts. It’s not like we want to play AC Wars 2, we actually want to fight players.

Attacked a tier 3 Bay today.
I first spent 1 hour running supply to build 4 trebs for outer.
After much death and pain, we agreed that going inside outer was a deathtrap.
spent another hour running supply for 4 more trebs at Vale camp, plus 3 mins of pressing 2 on a treb.
Proceeded to rush in and up on inner walls, dropping all heals availiable to man. commander built a superior AC and killed all defenders.
We won.

I killed 3 players in 4 hours…

Yeah, we had huge lag and rubber-banding issues. I don’t think it was because of zergs, we had it everywhere. So we moved around a lot trying to find smaller fights. It didn’t help.
Sadly we couldn’t fully enjoy the game due to resent changes in WvW, but I’m sure it will pick up as the week goes on.

Well, rest night is over for me. It was one of the most boring resets I’ve ever played. Huge zone blobs running around, actively avoiding eachother, trying to find a non or poorly defended objective in hopes to burn the gate down before AC’s got manned or built.

When it comes to AC’s its not a single thing that makes them awful, its everything together.
They don’t require LoS, wich means they can be placed in the most awekward places.
They don’t require LoS, which means they can hit everywhere.
You can’t hide from them, even if you have a roof above your head.
They do not count as projectiles, so they can’t be blocked.
They can’t be retaliated, reflected or negated in any way.
They ignore height difference, meaning that in order for a cata to destroy them the cata needs to be placed on higher ground than the AC.

It’s fun to see some people talking about realism. Arrowcarts should kill you because real arrows does? Well, a single tick from a superior arrowcart hurts about as much as taking a treb shot in the face.
Something is seriously wrong when 10 players dish out LESS damage than 1 arrowcart.

Ok, so last night RiOT decided to abuse this patch until they revert it. We started with 10 guys in Bay (one of the easiest keeps to take). 3 superior arrowcarts and 1 superior ballista at the back of the Lords Room.
About 50 enemies break down the north inner door and start pouring in. Not a single on of them made it to the stairs of the lord room.
They kept coming in wave after wave, and they just melted away.
They built 6! trebs in different spots to try and take down the siege, which was not possible.
The result was us staying in the lord room, and the enemies took down every single wall and gate since they couldn’t do much else.

So my point is, it doesn’t matter if you can build a million trebs and get every single wall down, you still need to pass that choke point.

Yeah, we had an amazing night. Had some great fights against SOE, PRXM and CrHvc. The one hour Bay defense was one of the most fun things I’ve done in a long time. Two inner walls down and two gates.

I would say about 90% of the posters are from guilds. Seems like most pro-AC buffs are random guildless WvW players that play for an hour or two in the weekend. If you have a guild, you don’t need doomsday weapons.

I don’t really get all those people who honestly believe that arrowcarts were underpowered. If you had the assist of an arrowcart you could easily whipe a zerg twice your size at the gates.
I can’t help but feel this is udate is for people that actually don’t know how to defend. AC’s are meant as support fire, not a bloody nuke to whipe out an entire group.

The last few days I’ve seen forces, that outnumber us greatly, hide on their walls and NEVER pushing outside AC range.
Running into other guilds a the ruins have been one of the highlights for me so far but guess what, you now get peppered from AC fire from the tower.
This AC update is for carebears that don’t know how or don’t want to fight other players.

Arrowcarts were good just as they were. Granted, they rarely killed anyone, but put enough pressure for the enemy force to burn healing and utilities, so you could charge out and kill them. Now they just melt everyone and everything…
With the increased range you can’t even get close to the tower/keep. There are plenty of good ideas to split up the zerg, but this is not one of them!

I must say I’ve been thinking about something similar. Such as why there isn’t a “king of the hill” cap area (or even two areas) inside the first wall of a keep. I would like if there was actually a battle over the courtyard in order to make the inner walls vulnerable to attacks.
Instread of the quaggan island, bring back the orbs and place the altar without walls on the center island.
Now I know there’s a lot to “balance”, but hell, just try something new for a week. Its been the same since launch, anything new is welcome at this point.
