Oh yes, we have been known to “lose” golems under the influence of alcohol. Som got lost, others fell asleep at the bottom of the lake we’ve even had a few get lost at spawn!
Don’t drink and drive kids!
RiOT can probalby furfill your dreams Fab. Maybe we can meet just before reset or sometime late evening in the middle of the week?
I would love WvW to work like a league. Sure, you’ll face some overwhelming force at times and roflstomp other servers, but you don’t need everyone to cluster into a specific tier in order to face competent opposition. I would happily switch to Vabbi if I knew, that once in a while, I got to fight a good guild or two. It would also take some pressure off the higher tiers. At the moment its a constant coverage battle, where guilds pull 15 hour shifts and it’s exhausting. Once you finally win, it all resets and start over, without so much as an hour to breathe out.
A more calm match-up once every few weeks would be welcome I think.
Now I know that some want balanced match-ups, but I can’t help but feel that it is doing more harm then good with the current system.
@Cameirus
Didn’t you join SFR during the latest free transfer? I may be wrong, but I remember you starting to flame our guilds in the match-up thread at about that time. Now you “happened” to transfer to the same server as us?
salluks
“u have 200 guilds on your server, we don’t have the luxury, Most of our server is PUGS who don’t know what to do, so they stick to the commander and often there are only IRON commanders online for 18/24 hours as the rest of the guilds only run primetime events.
We however are more tolerant to the PUGS and willing to teach them slowly rather than outright rejecting them and whining about them :P."
And there’s the drawback of having one humongus guild on a server. We have 200 Guilds because we value guild identity over armysize. Most our guilds have numbers around 40-50 people, with the average raid consisting of 15-25.
I’ll vote for this too. Would be cool if the reset was between 5-8 pm CET.
As a commander, you kinda have to work with what you got sometimes. Its a vastly different experience running with your guild in TS and running with random people, that may or may not be able to understand English. If I command a zerg consisting of 50 upscaled zerker rangers with longbows and see 20 DeX or VotF in a distance, I know for a fact that we stand absolutely no chance of winning, unless there’s a wall between us and them.
Also, as others have stated. Some commanders just suck.
Can I urge all serious Guild from all servers to stop this blob madness. It degrades the game into a messy lagfest and is not fun for anyone. This week we are actively avoiding running as a massive zone blob. True, we get crushed night after night, but we refuse to participate in this blobbing. Can’t do much about pugs, but I urge guilds to stop running together.
Have some respect for your own guild, some dignity that you/we can accomplish something on our own.
Obviously, there are situations, like taking a keep or SM.
We have, on several, occasions, capped a keep or t2/3 tower with 10-15 because the enemy blob refused to split up. Simply by attacking 2 or 3 locations at once.
Viz, SFR and Deso guilds, sort your kitten out.
EDIT: Before the flaming starts I would like to clarify that RiOT has indeed at times been part of creating the problem. The thing is, it has escalated to a ridicilous degree. We usually run as our guild and a couple of PuGs of a few friends, but have been known to blob. That, however, does not mean we can’t be part of the solution.
(edited by Mizu.9387)
@Zaowi
We came on at 19pm and fought the IRON blob on one side and Viz (normal size) on the other for the better part of the night. We wen’t off at 6 am and you still had lots of people online, same with Viz.
We tried actively not to blob, and it was hard defense, but payd itself off in the end when your forces started to run thin.
My point is, we deserved a little morning capping after this night.
Would like to thank Viz for running smaller group and not zone blob. Was very fun playing last night against you in SFR.
@VotF
I honestly don’t care what you think. Your fighting squad obviously hold a higher standard then ours, and that’s fine. We don’t aspire to be Another VotF or RG or GH. We pick up people from PvE and introduce them to WvW, encourage them to sort their gear and builds out and play a Group based PvP game. You can be however leet you want, because I can, with absolute certainty, guarantee that RiOT scores more kills and more Points then VotF. We play 24/7, while you play, what, 3-4 hours every other day?
Now some may argue that this is a boring playstyle, to not be THE BESTEST. However, I rather be mediocre in tier 1 then be the king of doors and pugs in tier 2.
If, let’s say IRON, would get their kitten out of bed at 9am on a saturday or sunday, you would easily dominate ppt.
I know we are most likely larger in numbers, but most guilds do put in 10-14 hours a day during the weekend.
I would also like to welcome Afterlife to the opposition
Was fun fighting you at reset.
I would guess the reason why no one cares about T8 is because tiers represent WvW population. So I doubt T8 have thousands of players, more close to 150?
I don’t necessarily agree, but I doubt Anet will spend alot of resources on that small group.
However, I don’t see what the problem is about transfering. Apparently, the WvW is not very fun in T8, so why not move to a more even and competative tier? You can still guest and play with your friends and guildies.
Ahh, good old Vizunah.
Just now, someone ordered merchants in SM while we where waiting for T3 upgrade. This upgrade, naturally, drained all our supply, and 4 minutes later the french zerg shows up. In this case, led by LM.
With 25 + golem vs 10 defenders, you would have taking SM anyway, so this was a very unnecessary move tbh.
Expect a strongly worded letter, Troma
EDIT: It may have been LNM, now that I come to think of it. Sorry to the guys who did not lead this assault.

Some god kitten helms Deep action at Deso Bay!
Comon, there’s no such thing as nightcapping on reset night. We played all day and night. Its friday, no work the morning after, so we play for a few extra hours. On Viz, we stopped capping (except for their garrison) and left the Deso side alone to support in EB instead.
Do we nightcap? Yes we do, but it’s as detrimental to the game as blobbing. Night/morning cap ruins the game in the same way as massive blobbing ruins most primetime fights. It’s there, we all do it (because its part of the meta) and we all complain about it. Sadly, its how the game is designed. Not to mention a lot of us simply can’t stand playing the lagfest that’s primetime, so we have to find our playtime in the off-peak hours.
Anyhow, had a great time against AFTL and assorted IRON. We Always love to play against VotF, but sadly our numbers had dwindled to about 12 when you entered the arena. That’s why we focused on defense.
This guy is my new hero
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9xd0zfyEqrUAnyway , great matchup this has been.
Thank you allHaha thanks dude, this foam puppet… i laughed so hard that i have a headache.
Our charr commander is famous now!
@Troma
I’m fairly sure I’ve seen a few PHX tags this week, didn’t they used to play on Jade Sea as well?
We win, you lose!!!
Seriously, as much as I love to hate Vizunah, it has been a great week for me. We had to push for additional hours all week and we were all following the scores at work with great interrest. It was never dull, always competative with these two servers.
Now people need to chill on the forums, taunting and bantering is part of the competative nature of the game.
All we need now is a third server to pull their weight in T1.
GG Vizunah.
PS: We win, you lose! Suck it!
Being numero uno gives you the right to be a kitten imo. Viz have held that title for far too long, it’s our turn now!
As for the lag, spread our guildraids over the day/night. We barely play prime anymore, because the game breaks but we don’t wanna play against doors.
Last night was really fun against IRON Bull in EB. Smaller 15-20ish numbers, no lag.
I’d rather see a power gap than this waste of time. They would’ve been better off spending those hours on class balance than giving us this trash.
And yet they gave us this “trash” because people whined there was no progression in WvW, and still would if they had spent all their time on class balance instead.
Dev’s can’t win whatever they do really.
Actually, I’m fairly sure its the fractal junkies that wants progression to give them a meaning to play. Those of us that rarely, or never, touch pve don’t care. We want what we wanted since day 1, leaderboards and statistics. We don’t need shinies as long as we get our hard earned bragging rights.
Yea, even as a big PvP’er gonna have to file this somewhere underneath new quaggan backpacks. Set up your guild vs guild on forums or vent, they have more than enough on their plate right now fixing bugs and ability lag.
We are not asking for much, just an instance with nothing in it. Setting up GvG on a broderland is messy. Crippling lag if you want to play primetime, the “audience” attacking the opposite team, teams taking up valuable queue spots and so on.
A replica of the Ruin Island with teams starting on each bridge. We don’t even need a scoring system or nothing, we will sort that out ourselves.
+1
If you change the title to something more appropriate you will have the majority of Seafarer’s Rest sign this
I hope the custom arenas with its 8v8 can serve as a substitute, but I would really like 15v15 on a larger map, like GW1 GvG. Would be even more awesome if they brought back the assault/defend mode.
Looking back on last evening primetime, Deso is much more hard to fight then SFR, even with the mighty RG and the skillful Option. It’s true, banana.
Yes, this is unfortunately a good point. Where are the domination by SFR in prime time? This was our best drift as a rule.
Where is our prime time now? So many bad bandwagoner?
The thing is that we’ve spread our guilds out over the 24h period, as this is a 24/ game. Not to mention most of us can’t stand the crippling lag that comes with primetime. As Fanfaron said, we are specifically looking for 5 signet builds and weapons with a solid autoattack. Not blaming Deso or Viz here, this Anet’s problem. But the fact remains that it just sucks to play primetime atm.
Don’t hold your breath. This patch is most likely gonna be some fluff to get the PvErs into WvW. Anet has consistently underdelivered since day one, and the old excuse that everything is complicated and difficult, kinda falls short when its their job to develop games.
So don’t expect the patch to revolutionize WvW. Keep playing the game with your guild and friends. That is what makes it fun, not Anet.
EDIT: Also, imo, the less they touch the game the better. Anet seems to have a different idea of what is awesome and cool compared to the players. So if they could just stop digging deeper, it would be cool.

And if there really is an alliance Deso ??/ SFR as you think, then it is these two servers that hold the knife by the handle. Limit they could go much further in a little idea of what you’re implying in the event that the PH rose in D1. So there I still very nice. There’s a clear alliance (like 10min ago on map red: the tower is opened Deso ??20, we wipe Deso, SFR comes back to 50 and we wipe and leaves without taking the tour) but they are at their maximum. They are known for having defeated and redéfaits many times these people. A two against one they come to us from being first, but they will be nothing more. It is a matter of time before Deso ??returns behind D2 and SFR. Following I understand, they are desperate and they know that they 1v1v1 have no chance, they try otherwise normal. This is a good war.

Alpha & OmegaIn any case if there was a need to have evidence that bone in sfr and get along just look at what is happening on our map today. Sfr and bone in passing one to the other side without hitting. Super mentality actually. Finally I note that it has perverted sfr bone in, because until then I had not seen bone in doing this kind of thing (except occasionally as it can happen) And there was still the beautiful bastondans lined at least c "is nice. however painful to see the agreement, they hide even more when I see a bus that passes sfr two gus of bone in without typing yet right in their way short …. no comment … technically there if the alliance continues (although I think this kind of agreement to not take long) time, it is untenable 2vs1. Enough they broadly share each map, with coordination and helped immune 5min. remains only pray the gods. Otherwise must send “saboteurs” of sfr and bone in voluntarily to kitten the kitten in their agreement.

have some fun! I rarely speak lies.. But you french guys really make me wanna push Vs to t2-t3 you are so bad, you cant even troll like normal people!
So you use to pump your pride thinking we fight you 2v1 ok:D have fun the upcoming weeks. The big bad boys are here to stay kids.
I have no idea what I’m reading here. This is so terribly written its impossible to understand anything. Can someone please explain what’s being said?
I think its a bit of column A and a bit of column B. We have a very good organization between various guilds, large and small, to vocer various maps and timezones.
As for the numbers, I can’t say for certain, but I don’t think we are that many more. We are, however, very well rested and refreshed after a few weeks in T2 and the larger guilds pull about 10 hours a day.
Still, it looks more interresting then it did a couple of weeks ago, when Vizunah was crushing T1.
There is something wierd going on here. The answers in the two questions “What do you enjoy the most” and “What do you generally like” should corollate more. Right now they are wildly spread, especially when it comes to personal story. Trading and crafting seems okay, when you compare those two and if you add “What do you dislike the most” it further strengthens the weak parts of crafting and trading.
It takes weeks to complete the WvW vistas you say? Try to finish a WvW achievement, and then come back and complain it took you “weeks” to get map completion.
But seriously, you come in to the WvW forums, saying that you don’t like it and expect sympathy. If you had posted this in the PvE section, you may have more friendly results. Second, you asked a question. It got answered and you didn’t like the answer. Even if someone gave you a nobel-prize winning argument for why WvW is included in map completion, you will still not agree. Because you simply don’t want to do it.
(edited by Mizu.9387)
I mainly play WvW, but can enjoy some pve content once or twice. The biggest problem for me is how incredibly easy it is to get the pve achievements, compared to the WvW ones. Those will not be achieved in a lifetime, or eight for that matter. This leaves the general WvWer kinda hardened and immune to “I don’t wanna” or “I have waited for weeks!” arguments.
You can have the map completion for completing the intro movie for all I care. It doesn’t affect me in any way, unlike, say, ascended gear. But we whine about that the same way PvErs do about this.
If they excluded www from map completion and allowed www to get ascended gear without having to PvE to death, I doubt anyone playing WvW would argue.
So yeah, split WvW from PvE for all I care, just be fair about it.
Omg, I started experiencing this error yesterday and thought I post here. Disconnecting every 10 minutes, making the game unplayable. Then I read this post is 3 months old…
Well, time to shelf the game I guess.
Same here, can play for about 15 minutes before disconnect.
I really liked the idea of having a fourth Virtue of Altruism, but I would like to propose a different active ability. Once popped, strip the guardian of all boons and spread them to nearby allies. This, I feel, is more in line with the other virtues that have this selfishness/team support balance to it. Give up power to grant benefits to your team. Balancing it shouldn’t be an issue, since this ability pratically already exist (although on the other side of the spectrum) with the necro’s Epidemic.
Please keep the thread clean.
I’ve been playing on Kodash borderland all week and I can’t say Kodash has been “outplayed”. They take towers, defend their own and we constantly have to retreat from their side of the map. Keep the fight going and don’t get dragged down by pessimists.
As for the manipulation part, Anet decided to reset the rankings and we decided to quit the match and take a well deserved break. Playing against Vizunah is kitten exhausting.
Although I don’t like the current queue, I do enjoy the smaller format. Zergs of 20 instead of 60 makes a difference in terms that you can’t burn through a reinforced gate in 15 seconds. Getting a golem rush requires more time, due to less people, and if you manage to get 4-5 golems running you frankly deserve to get a few towers.
I’m on SFR (T2) and the queue late primetime is about 30 minutes. It’s not fun, but I can live with it as I much enjoy less people on each map.
As for the randomness in queue time and people getting in “before you”, as it were, is very uncool though and needs to be fixed.
Yep, it’s just been a wonderful weekend on the Kodash map. There was a guild that sandwiched us at Bay, PHX or something along those lines. We looked for you to claim our revenge! You must come back on tuesday, so we can battle it out.
How are queue times on your servers? Just wondering because we can’t get in for guild events, queueing for hours. Last week we pressed on a borderland and instant happiness.
Second placement in T1 is alwasy a sandwich of pain.
Wouldn’t it be enough to simply buff the gates/doors to actually withstand a pounding zerg and increase it takes to cap a camp to several minutes. If a zerg decides to take a camp it would occupy alot of players for a long time for no apparent reason.
The problem right now, is that a zerg can do a full sweep of the map and cap everything in less than an hour.
One of the MANY problems with most AoE, is there is no counter. I remember the first week when you tried to get through an enemy gate and the damage you took went up to about 40k from all the ground AoE. Projectiles can be countered, so can melee AoE, but ground targeted AoE you just have to suffer through.
Another issue is if they lifted the AoE cap, you could buff 30 people with retaliation. Now if even a single AoE spell hit those 30, that elementalist would recieve about 12000 damage. Zerg wide protection, aegis, healing from different water runes. No thanks.Like I said before…. lift the AoE cap, but make it so that each player can only suffer damage from 1 AoE at a time, first in, first out. 5 Ele’s smapping you gets onlt 1 AoE in on you. However, those same 5 Ele’s can now hit an entire zerg for 1 AoE apiece, instead of only hitting 5 players.
The way it is now, 5 Ele’s drop AoEs on a group, ALL 5 have the chance to hit the SAME PLAYER for insta death. It’s not equitable.
Fair enough, but how would other forms of AoE work, such as defensive ground AoE and AoE shouts? Will you only be affected by one of those as well?
Will whirwind and whirling axe stack or can only one effect affect a target at any given time?
I understand that most defensive abilities grant boons and those kinda sort themselves out with the way they stack, but will several hostile AoEs give you all the conditions but only damage from one effect?

Here is another compromise solution: move all ratings r towards the center M of the ratings scale by a certain factor p; that is, set the new rating to be
M + p * (r – M)
With p = 1, this means no change, with p = 0, this means a complete reset to the mid-point M. So a compromise could be p = 0.5, meaning that all servers move half way towards the center of the ratings scale. This way, the past is devalued by half; giving more weight to the future performance, but preventing the silly matchups a complete reset would bring the week after next.
This suggestion have been thrown around there before, and its a good one. I think some wanted this to happen every month or every two months, to keep the current situation from happening.
Again, great fights against MoS, ACKS and MORT.
And a special message to Kingface. With the amount of crappy posts you put out, at least show us your guild tag so we know who to look for.
Well, I like to play the tanky support build not to mention I do like GvG battles. It’s less about the individual and more a group coordination battle. It requires skill, albeit another sort of skill, and hours of practice so fight another organized guild.
I like it, you don’t.
Agree to disagree I guess.
However, there should be more obstacles and terrain effects. Collision would be awesome, but will never happen. Portable barricades, so a small group could actually dig in with their siege. There are ways to improve WvW, without gimping GvG.
Another option is ofcourse to introduce GvG as sPvP so we don’t have to do it in WvW.
Hang on. Are you guys actually complaining that you are winning big?
Congratulations! You won the first season of WvW. Go out and have a beer or something. With the amount of hours you put in, you sure as hell deserve it!
Zerging is caused by players not wanting to lose. What will happen is everyone splits off in there 5 man grps. team A brings there 5 but team B doesn’t wanna lose so they bring 6. Grp A goes screw this and brings 7. ect ect
Also world Pop.
Only reason peeps QQ about zergs is cus they dont win. Find a guild that works well with each other and you will start to hav fun as u smash the mindless sheep.
Agreed, zerg busting is the way forward. Leave your pre/cri/pow builds at home and team up with 10-15 of your guildies and charge into a 50-man zerg. You will die, alot, but it is oh so satisfying when you get the hang of it.
The zerg is dumb, slow and panics real easy.
This has been such a wonderful thread all week. I’ve been wondering how much has been contributed by the thread being located on page 2 for the most part of the week.
Oh well, seems they found it.
So come on over to my guild
We are having the time of our life with this matchup. Endless enemies to practice on, the diplomacy to involve randoms and roaming smaller guilds. Being the underdog is effin great!
TPvP day and break for us today, but on tuesday we’ll be back in the trenches.
We’re busy fighting off the french horde.
Kudos to you [ACSK] for your siege of Hills last night. Any lesser guild would have stopped after throwing themselves repeatedly for 2 hours against the walls. You did however keep our guild locked down, defending Hills.
I heard you took it around midnight. Well deserved. That’s how a siege is supposed to be!
Good job iron defending that kittening keep. You where tons of ppl. So were us, but we felt like:
Hey! Arrow cart to deny that zerg regroup.
Hey! They are charging against the arrow cart kill em!
Hey! They have been baited and we killed a lot, now charge em! No wait they’re still a lot in there! (insert culling here)
Once again: hold the line and regroup! Build another arrow cart!
Hahaha.Looks like you had never fought against VS
Ask VS how many died tonight against the walls of Shadarn Hills. We masacred them in droves, still they just kept on coming. Logged off after two hours of consant siege. And they still keep coming…

Where is our prime time now? So many bad bandwagoner?
