Apparently we’ve had different experiences with this lol. While after the recent patch some rangers are a bit harder to kill overall I’ve never had much of a problem keeping up with another class, the only time it ever really becomes an issue being when their so close to death they try to run but even then it’s not to often they can get away unless your in wvw and they jump inside a tower but that’s any class. Personally I’ve never had an issue with necro in this department.

Lol glad to see there are still people who share this sentiment. So many people act like they need every detail before even considering to purchase it but personally the mystery of what’s to come makes me want it all the more. It’s likes one people just don’t have any patience or imagination, glad to see others who still get excited.

Playable Hylek Race

To be fair their not just a random race Anet made up, they were a big part of GW1 and had a ton of lore and backstory for them. I would advise looking back to GW1 and researching the charr a bit before you judge them solely on appearance. As for the hylek they don’t have near as much potential, being separated into a more primitive tribe based society with limited abilities (not even sure if I’ve ever seen a Hylek spell caster honestly) and are more of a minor race in GW2.mCurrently the only race with real potential for becoming playable are the Tengu, and as said above that won’t happen in this expansion.

indeed. before patch it required 1 thief and a mesmer to stay perma stealth and portal zerg back in. now it requires….gasp… the same. or 2 mesmers can now do it. still requires same amount of people as before patch.

Ps. would like to say i main mesmer and would be happy with pu nerf so i dont have to run it in roaming.(also 72 second cd on mass invis with trait)

Oh I know. Just pointing out that mesmers are more dangerous than a thief in a keep. A thief might ambush a few people, but a mesmer could bring a whole zerg in. Engineers have that reveal trait now, so at least there’s a counter. Might still be tricky to catch them if their good though.

Could a thief solo a keep before or now? Probably not by their self no. Could a Mesmer go die in a great place hidden inside of inner and wait for the perma-stealthed thief to come res him then go port the entire Zerg in? Yup lol. Thieves can be just as bad as mesmers because they can res any dead inside if they were smart enough to die in a good place and then before you know it the tower you thought was clear is full of enemy inc all over again. Thieves may not be able to bring the port to the Zerg themselves but they’ve always been able to bring the Mesmers who could back up.

I guess you think distracting them until you can portal in your peeps is good etiquette as well…

I’ve seen mesmers & thiefs using tonics, and then literally backstabbing you as soon as you pop yours. What I’ve learned from this is Analyze->s/d volley->Blunderbus ->Jumpshot->Dance on their corpse.
I leave people in peace around the jp’s on the borders, but if I see them around objectives, they’re dead meat, regardless what they want. This also includes friendly duels on dolly-routes, or around other objectives.
If you want to duel, go behind the mill or to OS.
If you want to show off your skins/tonics, go to LA.

Well considering it only happened once and the people I was talking to from the other server thought it was funny and were all in good spirits about it as long as your not a total jerk I don’t see why it should matter. If it happened to me I know that I’m well off enough to recognize its a game and just laugh and say gg. It’s not a big deal.

And lol I hate those kinds of people the most, they just ruin all the fun. Was sitting outside SM on the enemy side for a while as a little black Quaggan with two other people from that server and about 5 more came up so I popped the little bobble head and pilot toys and we all messed around till 2 random people came and killed me for no reason. Sometimes people just like to have fun in a game lol, that’s why I never touch anyone dueling and why if I see a soul who shares my philosophy I’m more than happy to have a good time with them. Heck I’ve literally went roaming with 3 people from another server before going around and flipping the other teams camps and alternating who capped em, not a good system but it’s fun lol. Why I find it sad when people come to ruin it then act like they’ve won by dancing or throwing blueprints on me when in reality all they really did was attack a player who only had 2 skills, both being costume brawl skills X3.

till my people got there for ports lol.

That’s why “If it’s red it’s dead” – so maybe use your tonic in PvE.

Lol and why would I do that? Just because some people choose to blindly kill everything doesn’t mean they all do. I’ve partied up with random people from other servers plenty in WvW to chat or for a fun costume brawl or “show off.” Tonics can add lot of fun to WvW unless of course you just prefer mindless zerging which I personally found just as boring as I do pve (no offense to pve ppl just not my cup of tea ;3)

Lol quaggan tonics are great in WvW., especially for random roaming. I’m a main Mesmer and literally got found hiding in SM as a quaggan and instead of killing me the small group popped their own little tonics and we messed around till my people got there for ports lol.

I don’t necessarily agree with the OP on the point of shatters but from his builds perspective I can definitely see that he has a point and understand why some builds may choose to shatter less. Well we don’t know there won’t ever be mounts right?

We just know that a lot of people hate the idea of mounts.

Actually Anet has said before there will probably never be mounts in the game. While a lot of people hate the idea it has been mentioned by the debs before. Yet somehow these threads just keep popping up…

So.. I have had Guild Wars 2 since day 1, from my understanding it was a game in which the devs clearly said “Pay Once Never Pay Again”.

Lol good for you, I crossed over from GW1 and have been on GW2 since beta, big whoop. And the devs did say something along those lines and that is true, nothing forces you to buy the expansion so your only paying for the game once.

I feel as though members with the game should get HoT free and if they choose to, pay the same base price of 34.99 to get:

Lol that’s hilarious, literally the epitome of someone who thinks the world actually owes them something. Anet has been more than fair with what their offering and if you don’t want to pay for the new content then hey, don’t get it. But it’s not a patch or some update it’s an expansion and Anet is a business, buy it or don’t, don’t expect to get it for free because you think they owe you.

Making us pay for the game again.
Oh Yes “(Includes base game)” – Where then is at least the option for people to pay for HoT. By this I mean the expansion.. HoT.
There dosent seem to be an option for us “Veterans” to buy it, we already have the base game.

Does this mean then that HoT is only worth around £17.50 and were having to pay 34.99 for a game we have already bought?

kitten the free character slot.

Lol okay let’s just jump on the bandwagon and beat the dead horse some more shall we? I mean this has been explained over and over again to the point that anyone with the most basic attention span and reading level should know by now but I guess that’s to much to hope for. The core game is free….free. It adds absolutely no costs whatsoever to the expansion, and was only included as an afterthought by Anet as a way of helping new players get into the game so unless you want to take advantage and create a new account it has no bearing on you whatsoever. The HOT expansion was always gonna be this price, we’ve known this, get over it.

Don’t want the free slot? Don’t use it. I’ll probably just make one for fun, didn’t need but hey it’s a nice step for Anet.

Now that all of your ignorant complaints have been dealt with I invite you to either continue playing, buy the expansion an move on, or go find a different game then rant about the subscription fees you’ll probably have to pay. Good day ;3

There may not be a very large portion of the player base looking for art but there are a handful of core people who like to keep tabs on the artists around here so it’s definitely worth posting a thread and some examples of you art to see if anyone goes for it. As for pricing there’s all kinds of ranges I’ve seen so it all comes down to the artist, the work, and how far people are willing to go.

To be fair, if the Jade Sea is thawing, the naga may have calmed down again. The lore could be made to work without trouble; I’d be more concerned with the hoops they’d have to jump through to get the armor to fit and let them, well, jump.

I can see your point although personally I don’t think this would calm them down as it wasn’t just the loss of their sea home that angered them but rather the extinction of all but a handful of their kind, the remaining survivors having held a deep hatred for humans thenceforth that they undoubtedly passed on to the later generations, and years of hate don’t fade easily. It’d be like me burning your house down with all off your family but you inside and then coming back a few years later and rebuilding the house, not only are you not gonna forgive me but your prolly gonna try an beat the living heck out of me with the closest thing at hand. X3 I do agree the armor and jumping would be hard as well though I’d be lying if I said I wouldn’t love a naga necro but sadly there’s just to much stopping this.

Out of curiosity, why they you say the kodan are too much like norn? I’ve heard that several times, but save in height never seen it myself.

One of the main reasons is just like the above said, the two’s stories are just to similar. Also lore wise Norn and Kodan are thought to be related as distant cousins by many scholars, Norn supposedly being a regressed form from a tribe of Kodan lost long ago, which could explain why the Norn are similar in size and why they are so attuned with the spirits and able to transform into beasts, perhaps a lasting remnant of their ancestry.

(I would LOVE to play Margonites! I just fear the GW2 design wouldn’t do the original aesthetic justice.)

Lol glad to see some people still remember the timeless race, sadly most I mention them to aren’t aware of them which is a shame considering their amazing look. I’m not sure how they would look in GW2 but if it was possible for them to replicate the design in similar fashion I would love to see it, even a tonic or outfit would be wonderful. I’m still hoping in the back of my mind that some of the old baddies like Abaddon and his Margonites or Dhuum and his generals will rise again one day for a whole new era of terror though I fear if this ever happens it will be quite the long wait.maybe if nothing else we’ll at least get access to Cantha eventually and see the kingdom of Palawa Joko.

Lol another one of these? At least this ones more about what you’d like to see rather than reasons “this or that” should be added lol. Okay lets sift through these by section;

Tengu:
Okay first off lets take a look at the sentient avian race known as the tengu, the most viable option. Note that I say the most viable not because this race is my favorite or even because I want to see them added but because its the most feasible of all the potential races. Unlike many of the other races often suggested Tengu are seen throughout GW1 and GW2, have their own sophisticated version of society, contain classes that include warriors and spellcasters, and are probably the easiest to apply the current armor choices to. They already have a platform from which to go off of in that they’ve sealed themselves off from most other cultures after a rocky history with humans and have recently begun to venture out more now that the elder dragons have risen, helping in the charge against Zhaitan. Despite this they are still rather xenophobic at the moment but their lore is set that they could emerge at any time.

Centaur:
[Insert joke about mounts here]. Lol that aside the centaur race will likely never come to pass for a number of reasons. For one overall they are a belligerent race with a fierce hatred for humans after years of war and enslavement and much of the race now fights fiercely in an effort to reclaim the land lost to the humans. As of recently with Jormag awakening and pushing other races out even further the centaurs have also come into contact with the norn and the results were as expected, they soon started fighting as well. I will say that there are peaceful tribes of Centaurs as well and that in many ways they are similar to the charr who also had a fierce hate for humans however I still don’t see it happening, especially with what they’d have to do to armor to make it work.

Largos:
Everyone seems to want these lol and I get it, the mysterious underwater assassin idea is a cool one, but I don’t see this happening either. For one Largos are by nature secretive and “don’t play well with others,” (such as the one in the Brisban Wildlands who was hunting a party of sylvari for sport). While I admit the underwater dragon does have an effect on them and some new features for aquatic fighting would be nice we’ve literally seen like a dozen of them throughout the entire game, that’s hardly enough to base an entire playable race off of. I know it may seem sad to hear but they just don’t fit with the lore and are perfect where they at now, a minor race that has its own cool flair. Besides, could you imagine the armor clipping with those wings? >u>

Quaggan:
Gonna give people the benefit of the doubt and hope this is a joke lol. Quaggans….yes their cute, they waddle, and they’d look amazing wearing a quaggan backpack….but that’s all they got going for them. For one their more tribal based than society, and you can hardly define the “warriors” they have as classes, heck their more like the “town watch” of modern day times, ready to rush at things with slightly pointy sticks and prolly get the living heck beat out of em. Some of them wont even fight back as their being kidnapped or killed. I know its a fun idea but lets keep it at that, an idea lol. ;3

Skritt:
Another joke I hope lol. I mean look at these guys, you gotta have like 4-5 of them in one place to do even the most basic of tasks lol. At best your guy would rush into battle and then the enemy would use its “counter” and throw a bunch of silver on the ground to distract you and kill you while your charrie was busy collecting “shinies.”

Kodan:
I will admit this is a fun idea and I can appreciate the sentiment but these guys are just far to close to norn to be considered truly viable for a new playable race. Not to mention the struggle to make armor fit on them and (not sure would like verification on this) do they even have spellcasters or is it an entirely physical based society?

Naga:
Gotta say, this is my favorite one that I’ve seen as of yet lol. Its out of the box, not something you see very much, and took the time to specify naga, not krait or forgotten. Honestly in GW1 I could have seen this happening, back before Shiro’s great wail turned all but a few dozen of them into jade and they were friendly with the humans. Now however they have been bred with a fierce hate for humans and have pursued conflict in an effort to get revenge over how they perceived themselves to be wronged. Quite a shame considering I’d love to see how armor would appear on them.

As for my own choice I know neither of these will ever happen but I’ve always love the idea of being able to make either a Margonite (the former humans turned demon who serve the forgotten human god Abaddon) or a Warden (the nature oriented creatures of mystery). Pics below

Clones are too easy to tell from mesmer.

in Mesmer

Posted by: Moonlit.6421

Moonlit.6421

Honestly though for the sake of arguing, let’s say they changed it like you wanted and mesmers and clones looked exactly the same, there’s still some viable inconsistencies there. First of al the mechanic itself, you say you want the clones to appear to have the exact same health as the actual player correct? Meaning clones would either start with less health than they already have or that Anet would have to make a new system just for clones to automatically match the Mesmer. Another thing, if clones are to be exactly the same then wouldn’t that mean if you had a condition, say poison for example, on you that all the clones you made at the time would be poisoned as well and constantly losing health so that they’d appear the same as you? That sounds like a nerf to me to have all my clones spawn with my conditions. And even if all this somehow works out and clones look exactly the same as the player any decent player or anyone whose played Mesmer enough to be adept should still be able to easily tell them apart because they can either watch you attacks to see when you phase retreat, dodge roll, etc and just follow you or, since clones rarely move around much, just cast an aoe on the 1-2 that will undoubtedly be clustered and either target the one who doesn’t lose half health in one pulse or whichever one is left outside the aoe. I can appreciate what your saying but overall I just don’t think it’s a feasible request.

To the few people on this thread who said WvW was about having fun and enjoying yourselves bravo, you’ve realized unlike so many others that the point of the game is to have fun while playing lol, which is something many people seem to have forgotten. I don’t now about the rest of you but I’ve been playing since beta and I’ve never gotten bored of WvW and never once felt the desire to switch servers over it. I love being able to do things like running around and recognize people’s names, realizing I’ve been playing with them for who knows how long. Things like flipping an enemy tower with a small group and then filling it full of siege just to mKe the enemy fight for it, themed nights with my guild, evading enemies in towers and keeps while I wait to port our people inside (main Mesmer ;3). I mean really it’s like so many people only care about points and coverage nowadays but I couldn’t care less if we were 50k behind with half the people you’ll still see me blinking across the field because to be quite blunt, it’s fun lol. First off, hai lol! ^^

My name is Moonlit and it is my pleasure to make your acquaintance. First off, I loved your intro lol. You just sound all happy and excited that it was all I could do not to spam you with invites lol, loving the great attitude.

-coughs once and puts on business glasses-
Now, on to a more “serious” note. I noticed you said you don’t like it when people take things to serious, well that could be a problem because we are very “serious” I must say. I daresay sometimes we’re so serious we even have costume brawl battles and roar loudly at each other while using quaggan tonics, can you handle that? >u> Lol but anyways allow me to tell you a little bit about my home guild, TFG [The Forest Guard]. We are a community based on the server Northern Shiverpeaks and we do our best to live up to the NSP credo and that is to have a great community and a lot of fun. We have people doing any kind of activity you could ask for from transforming into polar bear cubs for a dangerous guild mission (we do guild missions every Saturday), doing dungeons for fun, grabbing random people in the guild for pvp matches, and even themed WvW events such as last weeks Mesmer night! In addition a lot of our members (including myself lol) seem to be on around the same time as you so it’d be perfect whenever you feel like running around with us lol. Otherwise we’re pretty laid back overall and don’t require anything except for the fact that if your gonna roll with us, you gotta have fun lol.

I noticed you said you were thinking of transferring to Blackgate to be with your friend but that you were both flexible so if you’d consider it I’d love for you to give NSP a try lol. We’re quickly growing and have a great community based system of players who’ll be more than happy to show you the ropes and as part of TFG you can come with us for all our fun events while you learn lol! Hope to hear back from you soon and best of luck wherever you end up!

Secondly, hai lol! My name is Moonlit, its my absolute pleasure to meet chu! ^^
I’m one of the officers in the guild The Forest Guard [TFG] on Northern Shiverpeaks as well (great server choice btw ;3). We strive to represent everything that the NSP server is and that is a great community, a stubborn sense of resolve, and an overall good time no matter what it is we’re doing. We do quite a bit in all aspects of the game as well. In PvE we like to do guild missions and random jumping puzzles, not to mention fun dungeon runs and spontaneous costume brawls. X3 In PvP you’ll almost always be able to find someone to team up with here with us and we have our own private arena as well to offer a safe place to practice builds or just duel your guildmates for fun! We do a lot of WvW as well, and try to add a little flair to our playstyle and do fun or themed events quite a bit lol (like Mesmer night last Saturday which was a blast lol).

If you’d like to learn more or give our guild a try feel free to mail or message me in game and I’d be more than happy to talk to you! My main charrie is a sylvari Mesmer by the name of Millium, hope to hear from you soon but if not best of luck wherever you end up. ;3

Not sure how much you’ve used some of their utilities but I’d love to show you a trick or two sometime as theres nothing more fun than a party of mesmers lol (we get all the coolest toys ;3). Okay so about us. I’m part of the guild known as The Forest Guard [TFG] and our home server is on NSP. One of the things NSP is known for is having a good community and TFG tries our best to live up to that credo! ^^ No matter what time your on you’ll almost always see at least a few of us on, more than likely messin around with random junk or just chattin in TS while we play. We tend to do a little bit of everything though we’re far from hardcore lol. We don’t require participation in every event, don’t require %100 rep, don’t even require training lol. All we want you to do is talk every now and then if you can stand us and just join in the fun when you can. Sometimes we’ll run dungeons for fun or go into PvP to mess around and see what works lol (I mean we have a plan when we go in….or at least the idea of the structure for what could be a plan…meh it works out X3) We do run WvW sometimes as well but we’re not going to force you to transfer if you don’t wanna though you’d be more than welcome on NSP I’m sure! If we sound like the kind of fun, wacky bunch of weirdos you might wanna roll with feel free to give us a try! You and your friend can join up for a bit, see if we are all that we say we are, and if we’re your guys and if not, best of luck wherever you end up! ^^

There’s almost always a few people in our TS just messing around and chatting while we play and just about no matter what time your on you’ll see some of us messing around with random stuff lol. Not sure if your still looking but if you are willing to transfer you I was wondering if you might be interested in the guild I’m in on Northern Shiverpeaks, The Forest Guard [TFG]. TFG has been around on NSP for as long as I can remember and in addition to being active lives up to the NSP credo of being friendly and community based. You don’t have to have %100 rep, you don’t have to attend every event we do, and you don’t have to pay anything either lol, all you gotta do is have fun and, if you can stand us, talk every now and then. ;3

We do a lot of running in WvW and some Guild Missions from time to time as well and offer a lot of support for both new and returning members. If you do happen to come to NSP I’d be more than happy to welcome you to our guild and connect you with some of the other main people on our server. ^^

I will say this about our WvW front though, it can be a challenge sometimes. Its not that we don’t have the skill or a lot of people, just that normally the people we face just have so many more than we do lol (like HoD this match up X3). Regardless though we stick to the field and we fight for all that we have so if your looking for a fun time I’d be glad to welcome you to our community and if not then best wishes wherever you end up! ^^

I personally see no reason whatsoever Mesmers would even need rifles and don’t really see how people think it fits with the mechanic or the idea behind the class. For one appearance, I have yet to see a rifle skin that I particularly liked, let alone one that I thought would go good with mesmers. Shields just go a lot better with their current look, not to mention they tie in well with the idea of the Chronomancer and allow for a lot of great animations as far as attacks go which I think is something needed with Mesmer skills as they’ve always had that sort of flair. It just doesn’t seem to go with their battle mechanic or look at all which is why personally I’m glad this idea was trashed. Maybe back in GW1 when Chronomancer was going to be its own class something like this could have worked but as a specialization of the Mesmer I just don’t see it happening.

I know this is an older topic.. but what I would really like the Revenant to have as a weapon would be a Whip (as in Nightmare court skill set whip). If you ever did the storyline for a Silvari and get to use one for that brief story breaking the one guy out of jail, you get to try out the whip skillset.

Lol finally someone else who saw the whip and realized how fun of a weapon it could be. So glad to see some other people who don’t ask for just spears or greataxes lol. Me and one or two others mentioned something like this in a weapons thread a while back though it sadly never went anywhere.

Know this is a little bit late and I’m sorry for the bump but I didn’t see an earlier one so figured I’d comment here lol. (Again sorry I’m a little new to the forums side of GW2 dun yell at meh X3)
I’ve noticed a lot of people going with more traditional weapons such as great axe or crossbow or reforming the spear to be an aboveground weapon. While I’d love to see these as well I haven’t really seen much else variety wise other than this as far as suggestions. And while yes I know these will probably never be brought into the game I still think it would be a cool feature lol. X3
1.) Whip- In the sylvari storyline there is a brief chance to grab a whip and lay out some damage as part of the story and honestly, it was fun to play with lol. I know it could be hard to think of a lot of skins and animations for this but I think it could be a cool add in, maybe as an off hand if not full, and would love to see something like this.
2.) Chains- Yes I know this sounds broad but there’s a reason for this, there’s so many opportunities with chain weapons! Theres everything from the classing spiked ball and chain to the sickle and chain or even a bolas. I could easily see it being a medium ranged weapon or close ranged, whether it be a Mesmer manipulating it to snake out and strike its foe or a warrior swinging it in an arc knocking back all foes in range I think this could be another fun addition.
3.) My last idea, the classic yet tragically underused Tiger Claws. For obvious reasons these could be a close ranged weapon and I could easily see these strapped onto a thief. Maybe for spellcaster classes you could develop some kind of long range ability, similar in the way necromancers shoot out claw animations with some of their skills. One of the harder weapons to make significant in game yet felt like I’d mention it regardless.

What does your GW 2 "Wish List" look like?

…(5) For hits with WvW siege weapons to display on the mini map as a targeting assist because very few players are interested in playing the role of “spotter”. (6) A hat for PvE players to place on the ground while playing musical instruments so that other players can put coins in it for them (if they like the music). (7) A skill that makes enemy WvW players visible on the mini map. (8) More incentive for WvW players to develop and improve on long term battle strategies or for holding captured camps rather than just near mindless zerging for loot or capturing and then abandoning camps repeatedly…

The siege targeting I rather like the idea of as this could be potentially useful in a number of situations yet its nothing particularly immediate that I see as needed. The hat idea I love just for the laughs lol. (7) I just can’t get behind since ambushing others can be crucial for some classes/roles in pvp and I feel like this could throw a wrench into some of the few strategies WvW has available now. Besides some zergs are so large your minimap would be overrun lol. X3

- New armour skins. New weapon skins that aren’t BLTC.

- New Dungeons (Branded and Fleshreaver/Demon themes would be cool) and appropriately themed gear.

- More Deathmatch maps for PvP.

- Build saving options for both traits and equipment (armour, weapons and trinkets).

- Suitably challenging content that rewards ascended gear, or at least a re-work of the chests so that we can choose stats as well.

Love these, especially the dungeon idea. I have long since wanted some more themed armor and both Branded and Fleshreavers are some of the coolest creatures (to me) in the game. The only other one I could think of to one more would be the Margonites but since I doubt a Realm of Torment dungeon is coming any time soon I don’t think I’m going to get that lol.

I see quite a few for mounts and some for new races as well though personally I don’t see either happening soon (or ever in mounts cases). Mounts I honestly hate the idea of. I know other people love them and want Guild Wars to be like other MMO’s but in all honesty the reason I adore GW2 is because its not like other MMO’s and I have no desire to see it change in this aspect. As for new races I don’t really see this happening soon either. The main races mentioned are the Hylek, Tengu, and the Skritt. Hylek I could potentially see but with the HoT update and the new hylek races coming to for forefront it seems as though playing a hylek could interfere with the plotline here. Tengu are just generally secretive and wary of outsiders (though this may change in HoT) but there are still things unknown about them and overall they seem a primarily warrior/ranger class people from my experience with them (though I could be wrong as perhaps I have merely not seen any spellcasters among them). As for the Skritt, I know they sound fun but in most cases as the game will show their dumb as rocks if theres only one of them and have little to no skills relating to the current classes.

Off the top of my head, besides those already mentioned, I just have one main wish. Give the Mesmer portal skill a timer lol. As a main Mesmer theres nothing I hate more than being in WvW, setting up an entire plan for port, placing it and escaping, only for it to expire literally as I am reaching for the key, leaving me standing there numb. I’ve wanted this since the beginning and I would love to get it sometime lol.

Wanna brainstorm about weapons that are not in GW1 ? Here are a few trails you can start investigating :

  • Pole weapons : i.e melee weapons with a longer reach -> Main problem : balancing this vs 600 range distance weapons and classic melee weapons. Ideas are welcomed
  • Other 2handed weapons : greataxes are a good candidate. Now ask yourslef, what niche could the greataxe fill that is not already covered by an existing weapon right now. Sword (or axe for the warrior) is the usual cookie cutter direct damage melee weapon. Greatsword is the usual damage+mobility melee weapon and warhammer fill the CC niche. -> Rangers could get greataxes as a melee+mobility condition damage weapon if you can balance it vs the shortbow. Thoughts ?
  • double weapons (see this if you don’t know what they are ) -> Again, tell what can they do other weapons can’t ?

In the end, it’s not about designing new wepons, it’s about finding new uses for them in the first place.

About my gripe with staves as melee weapons :

I’ll just remind the devs that you don’t even need to change the attack animations by using pikes instead of staves, since a staff (in real life) is just a pike without the metallic head. What you can do with a pike you can do it with a staff.

In GW2, staves are designed as sticks with a somewhat large head at the top. Spears are sticks with a pointy metallic head at the top. Switching from one to an other should be possible.

To be honest I can understand some people want Greataxes and spears and everything and I have no problem with that I just feel like it really doesn’t provide any real change or variety based on what we already have. That’s why I supported the whole new weapon bases above such as tiger claws (which I admit are similar to daggers in a way), whips, and chain weapons. It wouldn’t be hard to find new skills for these, they’ve already made some whip skills in the sylvari storyline and with a little imagination one could easily come up with a cool group of skills for any of these.
